How many times have you heard this (or done this)?
There’s a disagreement…an arguement…a debate…a discussion…a contention… a situation where someone rubbed you wrong.
It could have been politics, religion, relationship, sports, work, or whatever…
But, they pushed the right button (or wrong button) and whether you admit it or not, they ticked you off (or pissed you off).
However, you are a Christian and you love God, so you ‘dismiss’ them with a “God bless you!”, or “I will pray you!”
Hmmm, when you’re honest with yourself though, you didn’t mean that in your heart.
You would never say, “F*** You!”. And, the devil knows it too.
That’s why he cleverly slipped in and manipulated you to use a blessing to be nice-nasty. Your mouth said, God bless you, but your heart really said “F-You”.
The person to whom you it, and those who heard it could tell what you really meant…and so could God.
We all have human moments, but we must be very careful not to allow the enemy to make us guilty of what the Psalmist said…
Psalm 62:4c (NKJV)
“…They bless with their mouths, but they curse inwardly.”
Remember, we must give an account for every word that comes from our mouths…
Matthew 12:36
(NKJV)
36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
BE BLESSTIFIED!
Ha! I think that’s a Southern thing. Up here in the North we usually just go with the eff-word. Trust me, these days I’m even grateful for a totally fake, “I’ll pray for you.”

Lol! You may be right. They still throw around plenty of ‘eff-words’ too.

Sure, the God Bless you, means literally the way they say it: Let God bless you because I won’t. Another way to simply get rid or you.

I must confess “I am a man of unclean lips” to quote Isaiah. I’m guilty of being a potty mouth at times, when my toe stubs a rock or someone grinds my gears. Very convicting. Even if I manage not to swear my heart is way out of God’s love for others. God help us!

You and I have both known clients who don’t like hearing “God Bless You”. Do you remember a certain occasion? It did turn out later to be a good blessing on that person.
