9 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
Eventhough Jews and Samaritans were all the ‘seed of Abraham, because the Jews felt the Samaritans were ‘less pure’ they detested them and did not associate with them.
Sound familiar?
Racism and prejudice have been around long before then though. But, let me first clarify that you can’t equate God’s prohibition from the Jews ‘mixing’ with other people as the equivalent to racism. This was purely spiritual because the nations around them served other Gods… It was a matter of faith and not race…
