Psalm 118:7 (NKJV)

The Lord is for me among those who help me; Therefore, I shall see my desire on those who hate me.

What does this reveal about us and what’s really in our hearts?

What’s the first thing you think about when you read, “I shall see my desire on those who hate me”?

How do you feel about those who hate you? Hurt you? Abused you? Mocked you? Embarrassed you? Who strives against you? Who works against you…right now! Today?

What is YOUR desire on those who hate you? Revenge? Hurt? Pain? Suffering? Death? Hell?

If we aren’t careful, we can get to the point that we don’t even want to see them saved.

What did God say?

Pray for them…

Feed them…

Do good to them…

Romans 12:17-21 (NKJV)

17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”[a] says the Lord. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”[b] 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Love them.

Matthew 5:44-45 (NKJV)

44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,[a] 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

When they hurt you they hurt God. He just wants them to submit to Him just as you have.

They were made in His image too.

He loves them too, and no less than He loves you.

He already knows what path they will take but you don’t.

God is trying to mature us and conform us into of the image of His son who, when being persecuted said…

Luke 23:34 (NKJV)

34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”[a] And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Look at Paul.

1 Timothy 1:15 (NKJV)

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

I’m constantly reminded that God restored all he lost after He prayed for his friends who contended against him.

Job 42:10 (NKJV)

And the Lord restored Job’s losses[a] when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

So, what is your desire on those who hate you? God wants our desire on those who hate us to be restoration, and reconciliation with God, and salvation…

2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV)

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

What about what they did to you? How much they hurt you? How much they hurt your loved one? What about that?

Forgive them, and move on.
