I can’t count the times my wife or family has challenged me to be accountable, and I immediately became defensive.
I knew they were right…
I knew they meant me no harm…
But, my first visceral response was to defend myself rather than acknowledge what they said.
I know I’m not alone. How many times have you viewed accountability as a personal attack?
In family?
Professionally?
Spiritually?
As a friend?
As a leader?
One of the greatest signs of an Emotional Intelligent, spiritually mature leader is the ability to take both…
CONSTRUCTIVE and DESTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.
The fact is that sometimes criticism, insults and feedback ARE being used to attack…
BUT, THAT DOESN’T DIMINISH THE TRUTH IN WHAT’S SAID…
and the opportunity for growth.
Remember what God told us through Solomon in Proverbs…
Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)
17 As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend.
BE BLESSTIFIED!
Oh, I needed that this morning! Just before I sent off a scathing response to someone. Isn’t God’s timing awesome? Thanks for tackling the hard subjects!

Thank you for confirmation Jane. I needed it just as much. May I use your reply on social media and refer to your blog? God is good.

Aldtric,
accountability is a safe haven for the man/woman of God, because our adversary is prowling like a lion and want to destroy us…may we find trusted brothers/sisters to whom we can take off the mask and be real…Great post my friend, BeBlesstified !!
