In a recent lesson at Oak Spring Church, Arlington TN, Senior Pastor W. Michael Martin presented a very powerful and empowering thought…
There are many times in our marriages, homes, families, relationships, jobs or even between nations where there is no conflict, disagreement or strife, but there is an uneasiness due to the absence of righteousness in one or more parties.
How many times have you been in a relationship where you aren’t arguing every day, so yes you have no current conflict, but there is still constant anxiety because someone is not walking in The Fruit of the Spirit of God?
How many times have you ever felt as though you were ‘walking on eggshells’ around someone to prevent an argument?
How many times have you worked a job that was free of conflict, but still you were not at ease because there was a toxic or cult-like culture?
How many nations are not at war, but in silent competition socially or economically?
How many times have you been uneasy in the presence of someone because even though you aren’t fighting with one another, there is still tension because one of you is withholding forgiveness?
How many times have you been at a family gathering having a great time but one person walks in and makes it awkward for everyone because of their negative or proud spirit?
Even within yourself, how many times have you felt uneasy because you are at peace with God through accepting Yeshua, Christ Jesus, as Lord and Savior, but you aren’t at ease because you know He expects more out of your life?
Pastor Martin, through the inspiration of God’s Holy Spirit, made a brilliant point. He stated that “Only righteousness can administer the healing of love and forgiveness.”
This is perfectly supported by the book of James…
James 3:16-18 (NKJV)
16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Only righteousness can minister to the situation or environment the love that breaks through the illusion of peace and heal an unforgiving heart or remove all envy, selfishness, strife, confusion and anxiety…and bring true peace.
Remember what Jesus said…
John 14:27 (NKJV)
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Philippians 4:7 (NKJV)
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Peacemakers are the warriors of spiritual warfare, breaking down strongholds, arguments and pride…
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NKJV)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not [a]carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Matthew 5:9 (NKJV)
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
