THE UNHOLINESS OF HAZING: TRADITIONS FROM HELL…

wp-1486060420485.jpg

If God makes it so easy to join His organization (Romans 10:9), why do we make it so hard to join some of ours?

I was watching a television show in which a young lady hoping to join a prestigious college band was beaten into intensive care during her initiation, and it was swept under the rug and defended by those in authority to protect their tradition.

I’ve heard many comment and reason that such behavior is just ‘part of the process’…that some initiations and inductions are just ‘part of growing up’.

I’ve heard that enduring this foolishness with others breeds loyalty, brotherhood/sisterhood, comradery, etc.

Some of these organizations claim to be Christians organizations.

Now, I’m sure some of you reading will defend it out of loyalty to your own beloved organizations and traditions, but if you’re a Christian…if you know God’s word…if you know the character and culture of His Kingdom…and if you’re honest with yourself, you know it’s not of God and makes no sense. You know that some of the activities people are forced to participate in are clearly not Godly.

If it’s not of God, then it’s of the devil…

If it’s of the devil, then it’s straight from Hell.

How do I know it’s not of God?

Because God made joining His organization EASY for us!

It’s interesting how so many organizations, teams, clubs etc. make it so DIFFICULT to join…initiations, rituals, rites of passage, hazing, traditions…while, God makes it so EASY!

Romans 10:9 (NKJV)

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

The Body of Christ, His church is the most important and prestigious ‘organization’ of this earth and beyond.

The benefits of membership are eternal…

Yet, God makes it so easy to become part of His family.

But,

So many earthly organizations feel it’s such an honor to be inducted into their ranks that some have even died trying to get in. When you think about it…it’s quite absurd that people have shed blood to join some groups but…

Yeshua, Jesus Christ, paid the price of our admission to His church with His blood…

 Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

But He was wounded for our transgressions,He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

One of Jesus’ greatest battles was against foolish, senseless tradition (Matthew 15:1-20).

Matthew 15:1-20 (NKJV)

Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”

He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; [a] and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’[b] But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— then he need not honor his father or mother.’[c] Thus you have made the commandment[d] of God of no effect by your tradition. Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And[e] honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”[f]

10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”

15 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”

16 So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

No organization on earth supersedes God’s and should never be no more difficult to become a part of than His church.

Even though some have even perverted and complicated ‘membership’ in His church, that was never His intention.

When any organization makes potential members submit themselves to violence, vulgar and profane language, embarrassment and possible harm as conditions of joining…those activities are not of God.

This is not an indictment on all organizations that require some sort of ‘proving grounds’, but when it crosses God’s line, it’s gone too far.

Don’t get caught up trying to hold onto, defend and condone traditions from Hell.

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD, BUT…

wp-1484133712825.jpg

Many times we encourage one another by saying, “You can do anything you set your mind to do, as long as you have faith.”
Yes, it’s true that through God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26), because God can do anything He chooses through anyone He chooses.
BUT…
Some the things that you want to do, even for God, it may not be His will for YOU to do them.
You may have a desire to have a virgin birth, and yes with God it’s possible, but that doesn’t mean it’s His will for you to do it.
David had a desire to build a house for God, but God told Him it was His will for his son Solomon to build it…
1 Chronicles 22:7-8
7 And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the Lord my God; 8 but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. It is our responsibility to find out what God’s will is for us and the things He would have us do…but how do you know?
Ephesians 5:12 tells us to “find out what’s acceptable to the Lord.”
Proverbs 3:4-5 tells us Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Be sensitive to His Spirit and where He is leading you. In Acts 16 the Holy Spirit prevented the apostles from going some places that they desired to go preach.
“6 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.”
God has a will and purpose for each of His children, and we must pray for wisdom, understanding, discernment and revelation for God to show us those things He would have us to do.
I pray in the name of Jesus, Yeshua, that God reveals to you your purpose and your path.

GIVE PEOPLE TIME TO CHANGE…

wp-1489062140325.jpg

Sometimes we can get frustrated when we share God’s truth or fresh revelation and people don’t respond the way we had hoped.

They may respond negatively…

They may even tell you that they don’t want to hear it…

They may tell you that you’re confused…

They may tell you that they just aren’t ready to change…

Once you plant a seed, you can’t force it to grow…We plant and water, but God gives the increase.

1 Corinthians 3:6-8 (NKJV)

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

We must remember…we didn’t always immediate agree with everything we heard concerning God the first time.

We didn’t immediately take heed to every bit of good, sound spiritual advice we received.

We didn’t immediately stop sinful practices when someone warned us.

There were seeds planted in all of us that took some time to grow.

There were habits, behaviors and attitudes that we had to work through.

There were difficult truths that we weren’t immediately willing to accept…

In fact, there are still some spiritual truths that we have not yet accepted. Just because we haven’t accepted it yet doesn’t prevent it from being God’s truth.

Pray for an ear, heart, mind and attitude that you can be good soil for the good seed that’s planted in you as in the Parable of the Sower

Matthew 13:18-23 (NKJV)

18 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

Be patient when you share the word of God, or give spiritual advice to others…

Think about the fact that when Jesus was in His human form, his biological brothers (Mary’s other sons) did not believe in Him…

John 7:18 (NKJV)

His brothers therefore said to Him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing. For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.” For even His brothers did not believe in Him.

BUT,

Eventually they did believe. In fact, the letters of Jude and James are now part of the New Testament.

Give people time to change.

PRAISING GOD IN PUBLIC: I’DE RATHER LOOK CRAZY THAN GO CRAZY…

The older I get, the more I learn the value of praise. Not only does it make you feel so much closer to God, but it releases so much power into your life. Have you ever noticed what King Jehoshaphat did when they were outnumbered in battle in 1 Chronicles Chapter 20?

2 Chronicles 20:21-22  (NKJV)

21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

“Praise the Lord,
For His mercy endures forever.”[a]

22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.

The tribe of Judah, (which of course means praise) was sent into battle singing praise to God. I like to call it the ‘battle cry of praise’…

“Praise the LORD”,

For His mercy endures forever.”

God gave them the victory, and the weapon was praise. They didn’t whisper a prayer silently, before the battle, which they could have done. They gave a very loud and public praise which served as a testimony to everyone who witnessed it.

I’ve learned to not be ashamed to praise God in public. I’ve learned to not be concerned with what people think. After all, people aren’t concerned what people think when they have public displays of affection in public with their loved ones. I’m not talking about disrespectful displays, but simply holding hands or hugging.

So, we shouldn’t be ashamed to lift up our hands and give God a HOLY HUG…

1 Timothy 2:8  (NKJV)

I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;

And, remember David was so excited over the return of the Ark of the Covenant, that he danced until his clothes came off, embarrassing his wife…

2 Samuel 6:20-22  (NKJV)

20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, “How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!” 21 So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord. 22 And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.”

I’ve grown to lift up my hands on my front porch of my house…to bow and pray at my desk at work…to lift up my hands in my car…to stop and bow on the sidewalk.

You see, for me praise is powerful therapy. Psalm 16:11 is so true…

Psalm 16:11  (ESV)

11 You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

It is impossible to praise God and complain at the same time.

I can’t count the times I felt overwhelmed, and then stopped and praised God. He blessed me with an uexplainable, but very real feeling of peace and contentment. I said to myself, “HEY! WHERE’D THAT PEACE COME FROM?”  There are days when I thought I would go crazy, but praise calmed my spirit.

So, if people look at me a little funny, I don’t care because…

I would rather look crazy than go crazy.

That’s my challenge to you today. Give God a public display of affection. Prove to yourself that you aren’t ashamed. I promise it will be easier after the first time.

wp-1494646682449.

I don’t own the rights to this music.

Don’t forget this…

Luke 9:26  (NKJV)

26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.

BEFORE YOU UNFRIEND, BLOCK OR DELETE YOUR ‘MESSY’ FRIENDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA…

wp-1488518194108.jpg

Many Christians say they don’t do social media, or they are getting off of social media because it’s too messy.

But, you can misuse anything…

Phone…

Television…

A piece of paper…

Even God’s word.

In fact, many people misuse God’s word to fit their own agenda.

So, how do you tell who is in harmony with God’s word when all parties involved are using it?

You can tell by the person(s) most trying to view from God’s perspective…moving their own perspective and desired interpretation out of the way.

Use social media responsibly and, it can be a powerful tool.

And, to those who Christians that say they are unfriending, blocking and deleting so-and-so because they post too much foolishness…

Maybe he or she can benefit from your LIGHT.

Besides, if they haven’t unfriended, blocked or deleted you because of you spiritual posts, then why should you because of their ‘foolish’ posts?

After all, are you going to delete yourself from the world because of the foolishness in it?

2 Corinthians 2:4
2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully,

1 Corinthians 5:9-10
9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.

Says the Lord, your Redeemer.

GOOD NEWS IF THERE’S CONFLICT OR DISCOMFORT IN YOUR LIFE…

Is this you?

For whatever reason things have become very difficult for you.

It could be in your family…

In your career…

In your ministry.

Has an area that was once very successful, very lucrative, very easy has dried up?

Is your best not good enough?

Does no one seem to understand you?

Will no one let you inside your circle?

Do you receive resistance for the good you do?

You don’t get acknowledged, while others are being celebrated.

Well, when your best isn’t good enough, that’s their problem not yours.

When no one understands you or your vision…Good. That’s why God entrusted it to you.

If no one will let you inside their circle, then maybe God is trying to build His own circle around you.

Remember that demons got restless whenever Jesus came around.

If you aren’t being celebrated, not only did Jesus not receive any ‘awards’…He was killed by His own.

He’s not dead, and the same power that raised Him from the dead is available to you.

Jesus entire earthly ministry was filled with conflict.

So, here’s your good news…

If you are at an uncomfortable place in your life…

Anything great is birthed from CONFLICT and not COMFORT.

Remember in 1 Kings Chapter 17 how the prophet Elisha was being sustained by God at the Brook of Cherith? The brook provided his water and God commanded that the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and evening. But, the brook dried up…

Why? Because God had to move Elisha from his place of comfort to his next assignment. Had God not allowed what was sustaining Elisha dry up. He made it uncomfortable.

In Acts Chapter 9 The Apostle Paul was going about his business when Jesus knocked him down on the road to Damascus and suddenly, he went from destroying the church to building it up.

If you have conflict in your life, maybe God has you in a place of transition.

Maybe He’s trying to birth something great from your life.

BEFORE YOU ‘JUDGE’ SNOOP DOGG DOING A GOSPEL ALBUM, CONSIDER THIS…

Snoop

Many people have been eager to offer their opinion on Snoop Dogg doing a Gospel album. It’s not my place to judge who God chooses to use. Consider this…

Most of our most beloved Psalms were inspired by God through a man who killed thousands of people, and had a man killed so he could have his wife (King David). If you were living then, and you knew David from the context of what He had done, would you be receptive to his Psalms?

Even though God strictly forbids the homosexual lifestyle along with other sins, many of the Gospel songs that we love, that touch the hearts of countless people, and have even led people to Christ, were written by homosexuals. (That by no means excuses or justifies the sin, but the truth is the truth).

Even the apostle Paul said that some preach with ungodly motives and others with a sincere heart…but he was just thankful that Christ was preached and despite the selfish motives, people received the word.

Philippians 1:15-18 (NKJV)

15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: 16 The former[a] preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

So, if Snoop Dogg recording Gospel music that sincerely inspires someone or strengthens someone’s connection to God…then to God be the Glory.

It’s God’s sovereign choice to use whomever and however He chooses.

It’s not our place, no matter how evident it may seem to me by his current and past ‘fruit’, to judge what is in Mr. Calvin Broadus Jr.’s (Snoop Dogg’s) heart. Or, how he is developing and growing in his relationship with God. It’s not our place to judge how He uses his talent and resources to honor Him… That’s between him and God.

QUESTION: IS AN ATHEIST’S LOVE OR GENEROSITY FROM GOD?

wp-1494042038518.

When an atheist loves or does good, is it from God?

Is a spiritual truth from another faith still wisdom from God, even though it may not be attributed to the one true God?

The fact of the matter is there are some atheists and people of other faiths more loving, friendly and generous than many of us Christians.

We were all made in God’s image. God IS love, and any love that is in us is from Him. Just because some people don’t attribute that love to Him doesn’t mean it doesn’t come from Him. Love definitely cannot come from the devil.

Genesis 1:27 (NKJV)

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

But, being made in God’s image doesn’t mean that we look like Him physically because He is a spirit.

John 4:24 (NKJV)

24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

In fact, Jesus represents our invisible Father in bodily form…

Colossians 1:15 (NKJV)

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Colossians 2:8-9(NKJV)

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

But, being made in His image means we look like Him spiritually. It means we can have His character…His heart…His attributes…His mind.

1 Corinthians 2:16 (NKJV)

16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?”[a] But we have the mind of Christ.

It means we can love like Him. We can hurt like Him. We can be angry like Him. We can feel like Him.

He gives EVERYONE of us a measure of faith…

Romans 12:3

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

He also gave us free will, and because of that free will, some choose place that faith in idol Gods…other religions…themselves…or no one at all.

It’s just like a son who looks just like His father but resents and rejects him saying, “You’re not my father!” “I look nothing like you!”

Consider this verse…

Romans 2: 14-16

14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Anyone’s ability to love and do good comes from God, even if they don’t believe in Him, it still originates from Him.

Also, since God is all-knowing, and the source of all knowledge…then even the wisdom of other religions is still from God. They just don’t attribute it to Him….

Romans 1:20-23 (NKJV)

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Just because that same son we mentioned earlier doesn’t want to admit that he inherited his intelligence or talents from his father or mother, doesn’t mean that he didn’t.

It’s evident in everything the son does, he proves he came from his parents, he proves they exist or existed…whether he admits it or not.

So, when unbelievers love. When someone of another faith speaks wisdom. When either of them are generous…it still comes from God. They are still created in His image. They just don’t give Him credit as the source.

For example, the wisdom behind ‘karma’ is still the same Godly knowledge of ‘reaping what you sow’…

Galatians 6:7-9(NKJV)

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

When you hear truth coming from an atheist or someone of another faith…the fact that they don’t believe in the one true and living God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ doesn’t prevent it from being truth…in fact, they are proving God is real.

It is our responsibility to convince them to give their measure of faith to God.

BE BLESSTIFIED!!!

MAYBE THIS IS WHY GOD DID SOME THINGS ONLY ONCE…

wp-1487735735467.jpg
HAVE FAITH IN WHO DID IT, NOT HOW HE DID IT…DON’T ALLOW SUPERSTITION TO SNEAK INTO YOUR FAITH!

God only had Israel march around a city seven times to bring the walls down…ONCE. (Joshua 6)

There was only… ONE…man who had superhuman strength through his hair. (Judges 13-16)

We only know of Jesus putting clay on the eyes of a man to heal his sight…ONCE. (John Chapter 9)

Why?

God wants us to have faith in WHO did it, not HOW He did it.

Putting faith in HOW God did it builds…

SUPERSTITION instead of FAITH.

Put your faith in THE WAY, not THE WAY He does it.

Don’t allow superstition to sneak into your faith.

John 14:6 (NKJV)

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

YES, THE BIBLE SAYS WE CAN WE BE TOO RIGHTEOUS…

wp-1472569536852.jpg
Most cake recipes call for a little salt. Many of us like to satisfy our sweet tooth with a good slice of cake. In fact, when it’s really good, one bite just makes you want another. The right amount of salt makes cakes taste just right…making you want more with each bite. However, too much salt will make us quickly spit it out of our mouth.

Check out these verses…

Colossians 4:6  (NKJV)

Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Ecclesiastes 7:16  (NKJV)

16 Do not be overly righteous,
Nor be overly wise:
Why should you destroy yourself?

It’s good to have passion for the Kingdom of God, but when we are over-zealous, arrogant, mean-spirited  self-righteous, we can turn people away rather than attract them to Christ. All things in moderation. If we are trying to talk about the Lord in EVERY conversation, claim we never do anything wrong, or down people who are unbelievers, we can make people avoid us, dread seeing us coming and destroy any influence we may have. But, if we cleverly chose the right moments to ‘sprinkle the salt of the word’ when it’s applicable, people are more likely to listen, receive it, and even soften hardened hearts.

‘Love out loud’ and ‘Live out loud’!

Let people see God in our character rather than beating them with the bible, making every conversation about God, or punctuating every sentence with a spiritual cliché. Wisely ‘sprinkling the salt’ of God’s word in conversations can make people hungry for more, and establish you as the go-to person on your job, your team, your school, your family when people want to know more about God. Being over zealous makes us seem crazy, and people can conclude, “I don’t want what they have.” God expects us to use wisdom and do everyone His Spirit of excellence. Notice how Paul reasoned with the Epicureans, Stoics, and people of Athens with respect and wisdom in Acts 17. He didn’t ‘beat them over the head’ or talk down to them. He wetted their appetite so that some wanted to hear more.

Psalm 19:10 proclaims God’s word is sweeter than honey in the comb. Yes it is! I love it. But if we don’t handle it wisely, people will spit it out, and we can do more harm than good.

WHY A PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT DESERVES A PUBLIC APOLOGY…

DON’T TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT WITH YOUR APOLOGY

Has anyone ever embarrassed, hurt or insulted you openly in public? Have you ever done so? Have you ever made public some information about someone later to find out that information was wrong? Have you ever defamed or slandered someone?

For whatever reason, we all openly hurt one another from time to time. Sometimes we do it on purpose, and sometimes it’s unintentional. These ‘public displays of ‘non-affection’ can leave bad impressions and potentially ruin reputations of all parties involved.

Many times when we realize what we’ve done, truly feel sorry and want to apologize.  We’ll pull the person or persons to the side and tell them, “I’m sorry… I was wrong”.

This is good but not good enough…

Acts 16:37 (NKJV)

37 But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us openly, uncondemned Romans, and have thrown us into prison. And now do they put us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and get us out.”

Those who heard or witnessed the embarrassment may still think you were right. Those who heard or witnessed the insult may still be influenced by what you did or said…that public embarrassment deserves a public apology.

I remember growing up in church that sometimes in testimonies, people would stand before the church and proclaim, “If I’ve ever done anything to hurt anyone here today, I’m sorry”…if you know who you hurt and what you did, this also is not good enough.

If you know that you slapped someone in the face, simply saying, “I’m sorry IF I hurt you” isn’t enough. If you slandered someone, making a blanket statement to a group that, “If I hurt SOMEONE, I’m sorry” is just not enough.

If you know what you did and who you did it to, then you need to show enough respect to call out their name.

It’s good to apologize, but if we aren’t careful, we can take the easy way out and not fully respect the person or persons that we have hurt.

Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV)

23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Don’t take the easy way out with your apology.
