Sometimes we have to forgive the same sin against us over and over not because they did it again…
But, because when we think about what they did we still feel angry over and over again.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. God made us and knows we are made of weak flesh…
Psalm 103:14 (ESV)
But, He still expects us to continue to forgive again when the thought of what they did feels our hearts with pain, anger, shame and a desire for revenge…
Ephesians 4:31-32 (ESV)
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
It’s one thing to forgive someone ‘seven times seventy times’ when they do it again and again. But, it’s another to continue to forgive them in your heart when they have truly repented but the pain and anger comes and goes.
Don’t backslide in your forgiveness to them!
I know it’s hard, but you can do it.
1 John 4:4 (NKJV)
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than (A)he who is in the world.
