WHY THE WORD ‘SWEAR’ NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE CONSTITUTION, ASAP…

Article 2, Section 1, of the U.S. Constitution prescribes the oath of office.

From Senate.gov website:(https://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/briefing/Oath_Office.htm)…”The Constitution contains an oath of office only for the president. For other officials, including members of Congress, that document specifies only that they “shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation to support this constitution.” In 1789, the First Congress reworked this requirement into a simple fourteen-word oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States.””

George Washington was the first President to take his oath of office by swearing on the bible. Since then, each President has done the same. It’s become a respected tradition. It has also become a tradition that all elected officials to swear (or affirm) before they take office, and for citizens to do the same before they testify in court.

There is only one problem with that…

God has VERY CLEARLY FORBIDDEN taking oaths! He FORBIDS swearing.

Matthew 5:34-37  (NKJV)

34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is Godโ€™s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let [a]your โ€˜Yesโ€™ be โ€˜Yes,โ€™ and your โ€˜No,โ€™ โ€˜No.โ€™ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

James 5:12  (NKJV)

12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your โ€œYesโ€ be โ€œYes,โ€ and your โ€œNo,โ€ โ€œNo,โ€ lest you fall into [a]judgment.

You can’t get more clear than that!

So, why do people who claim to believe in God feel it is okay to swear or take an oath when God said DO NOT DO IT?

Why do people feel it is okay to swear or take an oath with their hand on the same bible that forbids it?

The Constitution is an important document, and I have high respect for it, but it is by no means a perfect document. That’s why it’s a living document and needs to be changed as we learn and grow. Unfortunately, many Americans are more passionate about following the Constitution to the letter even more than they are about following the bible to the letter.

The ‘founding fathers’ were great men, but they were far from perfect. They were ordained by God (Romans 13), but they were not God. Many of them who signed the Constitution also signed bills of sale for slaves with the same hand.

I’m quite certain that someone will take the previous two paragraphs out of context because what I just said offended them. If it offends you, examine yourself and what spirit is provoking you to be offended. Yeshua the Messiah also offended the religious leaders when He came to warn them about how their traditions need to change…

Matthew 15:1-9  (NKJV)

15 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, โ€œWhy do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.โ€

3 He answered and said to them, โ€œWhy do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying, โ€˜Honor your father and your motherโ€™; and, โ€˜He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.โ€™ But you say, โ€˜Whoever says to his father or mother, โ€œWhatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to Godโ€โ€” then he need not honor his father [a]or mother.โ€™ Thus you have made the [b]commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 โ€˜These people [c]draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.โ€™ โ€

Notice what Yeshua said about oaths when He rebuked the Scribes and Pharisees in Matthew Chapter 23…

Matthew 23:16-17  (NKJV)

16 โ€œWoe to you, blind guides, who say, โ€˜Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.โ€™ 17 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that [a]sanctifies the gold?

He called them fools. It makes no sense to swear on the bible. Which is greater, the cover of the bible carry more weight than the words you are speaking? Which is greater, the Bible or the words in it that make it holy? Besides, someone who doesn’t believe in God or take His word serious enough has no problem with putting their hands on the bible and telling a lie.

If we really love God, then we want to do what He said without trying to justify otherwise because we want to place our will over his…

John 14:15  (NKJV)

15 โ€œIf you love Me, [a]keep My commandments.

One of the problem with many Christians is they prove by their actions that they feel the only sins that God is concerned with are homosexuality, abortion and gambling.

However, Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) has made it clear that we are to NEVER SWEAR.

I do feel it is okay to make an ‘affirmation’. I feel it is okay to say, “I affirm to support the Constitution or I affirm to tell the truth” in court. But NEVER on a bible.

But, any elected official who proclaims an ‘oath of office’ or is ‘sworn in’ begins their term with a sin.

And, anyone who swears not to tell a lie in court promises not to commit one sin by committing another one.

As we work to make the Constitution an even better document by including amendments that secure the rights of everyone, don’t you think we should change it in a way to please the God of our salvation first? And do it ASAP.

5 REASONS WHY PEOPLE MAY NOT WANT TO TAKE ADVICE FROM YOU…

God teaches us in His word that wise counsel is priceless…

Proverbs 19:20-21  (NKJV)

20 Listen to counsel and receive instruction,
That you may be wise in your latter days.

21 There are many plans in a manโ€™s heart,
Nevertheless the Lordโ€™s counselโ€”that will stand.

It’s good to get the benefit from the experience of others. But do you know anyone whose advice you really don’t want? Why? How do people feel about taking advice from you? Why?

Do people make any of these statements about you?

Is _____________ going to be there?

Is______________ going with us?

Are you inviting _________________?

Oh no! Here comes _______________?

HERE ARE 5 REASONS WHY PEOPLE MAY NOT WANT TO TAKE YOUR ADVICE…

1. YOU CAN’T HAVE A CONVERSATION WITHOUT GIVING ADVICE…

Some people don’t know how to have a conversation without giving advice. I know a young man who didn’t have his father around when he grew up. All the men in his life felt they had to mentor him. That’s fine, but not all the time.! They would never just laugh and talk. Never could just tell jokes. And, if jokes were told, it was about how the young man wasn’t doing something right. “If I were you I would…”, “When are you going to…”, “Ha, Ha, Ha, that’s not how you do that, here let me show you…” He got to the point that he dreaded when they came around. “Oh know, here comes Uncle ________” he thought. Remember this. Every moment doesn’t have to be a teaching moment. Every situation doesn’t have to be a lesson. And, people don’t learn by making fun of what they do wrong.

2. YOU AREN’T A GOOD EXAMPLE…

I had a barber once who loved to give advice about healthy eating. That was fine be he couldn’t cut my hair without his stomach rubbing against me. I also have an acquaintance who is always full of financial advice, but he is not doing very well financially himself. And, most parents get frustrated when people who have never had children try to advice them how to raise their children. I’m not saying people with children can’t give advice, or that you can’t learn from someone else’s financial mistakes, or that someone overweight can’t advice someone else on how to lose weight. But, I am saying that

3. YOU ARE ARROGANT & CONDESCENDING…

Yes, we see your level of success. Yes, we see that you’ve made great decisions. But, know we aren’t looking for advice every time you come around. Because when you give that advice you act as though everyone else is so stupid. When you give advice you belittle what they have done well. When you give advice, your tone is so mean that your advice goes unheard.

4. YOU USE IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BRAG ABOUT YOURSELF & FEED YOUR OWN EGO…

These people really aren’t concerned about helping you, they just want an opportunity to glorify themselves. No, we are not interested in how well you planned, how smart you were, or how hard you worked. Because guess what, we planned carefully too. We made intelligent decisions too. We worked very hard too, but sometimes things just don’t work out. Ask any entrepreneur who had a strong business plan, researched their market, sacrificed for their business, put in ‘blood, sweat, and tears’ and because of factors beyond their control, things didn’t work out.

BEFORE YOU SAY YOU DESERVE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BECAUSE YOU WORKED HARD FOR ITโ€ฆ

5. NO ONE ASKED YOU…

I’m not saying that unsolicited isn’t good sometimes, but most of the time, if people want your advice, they will ask you. If you notice that someone needs some help and aren’t willing to ask, find a way to BE an example of the behavior that you feel could benefit from their experience. Be creative. Pray and ask God for wisdom, or even let the know you’re available if needed, but blurting out unsolicited advice can be so insulting that it goes unheard.

Remember, advice is only good if it received, so stop, think, and pray before you speak into someone’s life.

The next time you get some unwanted advice, come back to this list to see how many reasons apply.

WHY WE NEED TO REPLACE THE WORDS ‘BLAME’ & ‘FAULT’ WITH ‘RESPONSIBLE’…

wp-1479908081172.jpg

We need to learn to replace the words ‘blame’ and ‘fault’ with ‘responsible’.

Blame and fault are negative; Responsibility is positive.

Blame shifts responsibility or refuses to accept it.

Fault encourages one to pass the buck to protect themselves.

Have you ever blamed someone else when you were responsible?

Telling someone ‘I blame you’  or ‘it’s your fault will likely make them defensive.

But, telling them ‘It’s your responsibility’ or ‘we all make mistakes’ is more will likely make them be accountable.

The enemy is always looking for opportunities to provoke us to sin so he can blame and accuse us.

Revelation 12:10 (NKJV)

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, โ€œNow salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

Romans 14:11-12  (NKJV)

11 For it is written:

โ€œAs I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.โ€

12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

Galatians 6:5 (NKJV)

For each one shall bear his own load.

God expects us to hold one another responsible and accountable, sometimes with rebuke…

Proverbs 27:17  (NKJV)

17 As iron sharpens iron,
So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.

And, sometimes in gentleness…

Galatians 6:1-2  (NKJV)

Brethren, if a man is [a]overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one anotherโ€™s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

But always in wisdom. Remember, responsibility brings accountability and blame brings shame.

LETโ€™S TALK ABOUT SLAVERY IN THE BIBLEโ€ฆ

wp-1472172005191.jpg

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM (OR CHURCH)

Itโ€™s impossible to ignore the presence of slavery in the bible. Many people wonder if slavery is evil, then why is it in the bible, both Old and Testaments. To fully explain this concept would take a series of lessons, which I do intend to publish soon, as I get time to responsibly put them together. I will however give you a brief answer for general understanding.

First and foremost, we in the 21st Century have the tendency to view things only from a 21st Century perspective, but God exists outside of time and relates to us holistically throughout time, beyond time and the cultures we have created. God deals with us from and through the lens of HIS prospective. We must look at the many aspects of servitude throughout history.

ITโ€™S CLEAR AMERICAN SLAVERY WAS EVIL

Slavery and servitude have existed in numerous cultures, in many forms throughout history. Yes, slavery as it was in America was evil. In fact, God strictly forbade kidnapping people and selling them into slaveryโ€ฆ(Exodus 21:16)โ€ฆ 16 โ€œHe who kidnaps a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, shall surely be put to death). Itโ€™s clear God forbade this and it was punishable by death. So, how do you explain Exodus 21 that outlines regulations for Hebrews who choose to buy a slave? Or how do you explain Ephesians 6:5-9? (5 Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, 6 not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7 rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, 8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. 9 Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him)

As for Exodus 21, these were not SLAVES; the word is more properly translated servants. These people were not enslaved for life. They were indentured servants, who served a period of seven years and were then to be set free, unless he or she chose to stay with his or her โ€˜masterโ€™. Now, as crazy as this may seem to us in the 21st Century, in ancient times there was no government support as we have in the recent past. Social structure and societal roles were strictly set in many cultures. If a family was poor or destitute, then it would most likely stay that way for generations. To some, servitude was a means of supporting families and sometimes preventing homelessness and starvation. If you read Exodus 21, there was no separation of families as took place in the southern United States. You will also notice in Deuteronomy 15:12-18 that God commanded that servants were not to be sent away empty-handed. This was a means for families to be lifted up from poverty and being destitute, unless they CHOSE to stay. This was not the equivalent to American slavery. (Deuteronomy 15:12-18) 12 โ€œIf your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you, he shall serve you six years, and in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.13 And when you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty-handed.14 You shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your winepress. As the Lord your God has blessed you, you shall give to him. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this today. 16 But if he says to you, โ€˜I will not go out from you,โ€™ because he loves you and your household, since he is well off with you, 17 then you shall take an awl, and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your slave forever. And to your female slave you shall do the same. 18 It shall not seem hard to you when you let him go free from you, for at half the cost of a hired worker he has served you six years. So the Lord your God will bless you in all that you do.

There is however another aspect of slavery, the evil aspect. Sometimes during war, people would be captured and subjugated. And, yes sometimes people were and are kidnapped and sold into slavery. Remember, God allowed His own chosen people to be slaves in Egypt for 400 years. Remember in Exodus God said He hardened Pharaohโ€™s heart so He wouldnโ€™t listen to Moses? (Exodus 9:12 But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had spoken to Moses.) This was for the purpose that God could show His power to the Egyptians and for our example. In Isaiah 10:5-6 God tells how He used Assyria, a heathen nation, to punish His own people. (5 Ah, Assyria, the rod of my anger; the staff in their hands is my fury!) 6 Against a godless nation I send him, and against the people of my wrath I command him, to take spoil and seize plunder,). Remember that God allowed His people to be taken captive by the Babylonians, that at the time of Jesus Israel was under Roman rule and in A.D. 70 they destroyed Jerusalem. Remember also that God used the Romans, a pagan, non-believing nation, to crucify His only Son. Throughout the Old Testament, even though war is evil, God used to discipline His people, and as judgment on unbelieversโ€ฆfor our example.

GOD USES GOOD AND EVIL FOR HIS PURPOSE

My point is thisโ€ฆboth good and evil exists in this world, and God used both good and evil for His ultimate purpose. Itโ€™s obvious God wonโ€™t use good people to do evil, so He even uses evil people to discipline, and execute judgment on both His people and unbelievers. Afterward, the evil people will be judged. Itโ€™s not that theyโ€™re cursed, as Jesus said in John 3:18 says they are already condemned due to theyโ€™re own unbelief. Notice in Isaiah 10 that God says even though He used Assyria as a rod of correction against His people, he will still punish them for their evil that were predisposed to do anyway.

The fact is that God often used the existence and reality of something as evil as slavery to discipline His people or judge unbelievers. In regard to Ephesians 6:5-9, God made provision for His peopleโ€™s behavior if they happened to be servants. His Godly character and holiness must be maintained in all situationsโ€ฆgood and bad.

Notice this, any group enslaved never remained enslaved. God always heard their cry and set them freeโ€ฆhopefully to show His power to the oppressor and love to the oppressed.

Also notice in the book of Philemon, that God encouraged his friend Onesimus to return to his โ€˜masterโ€™, but He also encouraged Philemon to do the right thing and set him free upon his return.

SO WHY DID MOSES INCLUDE IT IN THE OLD TESTAMENT?

One more thing is worth your consideration. In Matthew 19, the Pharisees confronted Jesus, asking Him is it lawful for a man to divorce His wife. Notice Jesusโ€™ response in the NKJVโ€ฆ โ€œ4 โ€œHavenโ€™t you read,โ€ he replied, โ€œthat at the beginning the Creator โ€˜made them male and female,โ€™ 5 and said, โ€˜For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one fleshโ€™? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.โ€

7 โ€œWhy then,โ€ they asked, โ€œdid Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?โ€

8 Jesus replied, โ€œMoses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.โ€ Isnโ€™t interesting that even though the book of Deuteronomy 24:1-4 permits divorce, Jesus makes it clear that just because Moses put it in the law during that dispensation of history, that it was never Godโ€™s will. Malachi 2:16 confirms this in saying that God hates divorce. This slight departure from the topic is to prove that just like slavery, just because there was provision made in the law, doesnโ€™t mean that God condones it in itโ€™s most evil form. Remember the โ€˜servantsโ€™ in the New Testament were indentured, and Paul urged Philemon to release Onisemus was he returned. Itโ€™s possible that Onisemus decided to stay beyond his seven yearsโ€ฆno one knows.

THEREโ€™S MUCH MORE TO SAYโ€ฆ

This is definitely not an exhaustive summary of all the verses concerning slavery, and thereโ€™s still much more to be said, but I think it will give you an idea of the concept in the bible. I know there are many who will not agree with this analysis, which acknowledges the reality, of servitude, as well as harmonizes, Old and New Testaments. I welcome comments and thoughts. You may expand upon the content of this article, or express why you disagree. I only ask that all comments are positive and respectful.

THERE IS NOT ONE (1) NEW TESTAMENT EXAMPLE OF JESUS OR THE APOSTLES USING VIOLENCE TO BUILD THE KINGDOM OF GOD…

During the American Reconstruction after the Civil War, many of the first domestic terrorists used masks and violence to protect their ‘way of life’, that included the oppression and suppression of those who were recently freed from slavery. They even had the audacity to claim that God supported their evil cause. They did this by interpreting the bible through their own perspective, which is a sin…

2 Peter 1:20-21 (NKJV)

20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private [a]interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but [b]holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Many people want to claim the fact that disciples of Christ are no longer under the law, but they want to use the violence that God allowed as He fulfilled His promise to Abraham and his seed to give them the Promised Land — that has been accomplished.

Search the scriptures and you will not find ONE (1) example of Jesus or His Apostles using violence to build the Kingdom of God…not ONE.

To the contrary, Jesus let it be known that was an option that He didn’t choose.

John 18:36 (NKJV)

36 Jesus answered, โ€œMy kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.

God let us know that promoting peace is a sign of those who are His children…

Matthew 5:9 (NKJV)

Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.

He let us know that displaying the Fruit of the Spirit is true strength…

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Too many Christians are impressed by violence rather than peace.

WHY IT’S OKAY TO ADMIT THAT WE DON’T KNOW WHY GOD DOES EVERYTHING HE DOES…

Anyone who believes in God has been asked these questions.

Most if not all believers, if they are willing to admit it to themselves, have asked some of these questions.

Not only are there some difficult things to understand in the Bible, but there are things God does today that are difficult to explain.

Why does God allow babies and children to suffer with terminal illnesses?

Why does the bible not explicitly forbid slavery?

Why does God allow abusive parents to have children, while others who would be loving, nurturing parents to go childless?

Why does God allow some people to be healed but other people, some we would even call ‘goodโ€™ people, to not be healed?

Luke 4:27 (NKJV)

2And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.โ€

There are countless questions that atheists and some believers ask concerning God, either arrogantly or anxiously waiting for answers.

God gave us the example through the Psalms that He will allow us to question Him in humility, as long as we continue to trust Him…

Psalm 13:1-2 (NKJV)

How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes,
Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest my enemy say,
โ€œI have prevailed against himโ€;
Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

If you’re like me, sometimes you feel pressured to give a quick and definite answer to ‘defend’ God. Sometimes you want a definite answer to satisfy yourself.

But the truth is that some things we simply don’t know.

That means sometimes the best answer is…

I DON’T KNOW!

Even those who depend on science to shape their beliefs have to admit that with all of our advances in science and medicine, there is still more that’s unknown than is known.

Scientists still have to sometimes say…

I DON’T KNOW!

Doctors have to sometimes admit…

I DON’T KNOW!

There are times that after a deadly diagnoses that the illness sometimes disappears and the physician has to admit…

I DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!

So, no one should really scoff when a believer says they simply don’t know.

The fact is, there is great peace in admitting that even though you don’t know…you still trust God. He has told us that there are things that will be beyond are human minds, and even science helps prove that. There is much in science well beyond the reach of scientific knowledge.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)

โ€œFor My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,โ€ says the Lord.
โ€œFor as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Don’t deny yourself the blessing and peace of simply saying…”I DON’T KNOW!”

Psalm 131:1 (NKJV)

Lord, my heart is not [a]haughty,
Nor my eyes [b]lofty.
Neither do I [c]concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too [d]profound for me.

Admitting that you don’t know doesn’t confirm God isn’t God, it just confirms that we are human.

HOW YOU PROVE WHICH SIDE YOU WOULD HAVE CHOSEN IF YOU LIVED IN BIBLE DAYS BY YOUR ATTITUDE TODAY…

Have you ever noticed in Matthew Chapter 23 that the religious leaders told Yeshua, Jesus, that if they had lived in the past they would not have mistreated and killed the prophets as their ancestors did?

Many people do the same thing today. They point a self-righteous finger at the Scribes, Pharisees, Chief Priests, those who shouted CRUCIFY HIM, those who worshipped the golden calf, those who bowed to Nebuchadnezzar’s idol God, and so on. People prove on which side of history they would have stood in the past by their attitudes, actions, and behavior today.

Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus Christ, sharply rebuked the religious leaders (the system) because they claimed if they had lived in the past, they would not have participated in killing the prophets as their ancestors did. He told them that they SHARED IN THE GUILT OF THEIR ANCESTORS because of their attitudes and actions TODAY…

Matthew 23:29-32 (NKJV)

29 โ€œWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and[a]adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say, โ€˜If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.โ€™

31 โ€œTherefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathersโ€™ guilt.

Matthew 23:29-32 (NIV)

29 โ€œWoe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30 And you say, โ€˜If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.โ€™ 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Go ahead, then, and complete what your ancestors started!

People today claim they would have gone into the fiery furnace with the Hebrew slave boys, or lions’ den with Daniel, but prove they wouldnโ€™t because they wonโ€™t take a stand for God at work, or conform to a sinful culture because they donโ€™t want to lose their job.

People today claim they would have fled Sodom and Gomorrah with Lot, but prove they wouldnโ€™t have because they support gay marriage and the gay lifestyle, when Yeshua clearly affirms that marriage is between a man and woman in Matthew Chapter 19 verses 3-9.

People today claim they wouldnโ€™t have participated in worshipping a graven image or calling out the name of an idol, but they prove they would have by blasphemously calling a day to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior by the name of a pagan goddess (Easter, Eostre, Ishtar, Ashtoreth).

Exodus 23:13  (NKJV)

13 โ€œAnd in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth.

People today prove where they would have stood during the American Civil Rights Movement…

People today prove if they would have considered Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to be a great man or a trouble maker…

People today prove if they would consider the peaceful protests to be a means to change or a nuisance…

People today prove whether they would have supported a system of slavery or against it by how they hold on to the symbols and paradigms of a sinful heritage of oppression, rape and separation of families because they feel it honors their ancestors.

People today prove whether they would have placed โ€˜traditions of manโ€™ over the word of God (flags, statues, monunents, hazing, etc…

Matthew 15:1-8 (NKJV)

15 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 โ€œWhy do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.โ€

3 He answered and said to them, โ€œWhy do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying,โ€˜Honor your father and your motherโ€™; and, โ€˜He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.โ€™5 But you say, โ€˜Whoever says to his father or mother,โ€œWhatever profit you might have received from me isa gift to Godโ€โ€” 6 then he need not honor his father[a]or mother.โ€™ Thus you have made the[b]commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 โ€˜These people [c]draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.

How you respond to the teachings of Yeshua the Messiah today proves how you would have stood back then…

People today prove whether they would have shouted HOSANNA or CRUCIFY Him!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_4389.jpg

Many people in America suffer from a spiritual epidemic of pride and refuse to acknowledge or address it.

One way this abomination manifests itself is through how history is perceived and presented.

Too many Americans feel they have the right to define which history is appropriate and which is not.

For example, when speaking of the Confederacy or the flag that represented that rebellious effort that fought against the United States…many will not only claim it’s history, but will boastfully say, IT’S HERITAGE NOT HATE. They will quickly tell you they don’t care WHO is offended by the Confederate flag or honoring that history. It doesn’t enter their mind that it’s in any way divisive or stirs up hatred.

However, when little-known history and atrocities committed by Americans is shared, such as the Tulsa Massacre of 1921, some of the same people consider this history to be ‘race-bating’, stirring up hatred, and divisive.

What?

Are you that hypocritical?

How arrogant, selfish and quite frankly entitled can you be?

One of the most beautiful things about the bible, both Old Testament and New Testament, is that it reports the SAME HISTORY from more than one perspective, From the prophets, to the synoptic Gospels compared to John. Study the bible and look at how prophets who were contemporaries conveyed the same story from different perspectives.

God doesn’t try to hide the ugly things Israel did, or paint them as glorious, but instead shows His anger at them, tells how He rebuked them, and left a lesson for generations to come.

Telling people that history they don’t prefer is inappropriate is a text-book attitude of entitlement and privilege. But, people aren’t that stupid. When they’re honest with themselves…they know that. These people get pissed off because they want complete control of the narrative of American history. You don’t get to define what’s HATRED and what’s HISTORY based on the history that you value.

I’m going to repeat the text below from a previous post of mine: WHY EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD CONSIDER WHERE HE OR SHE NEEDS TO REPENTโ€ฆ

“Too many people in America only see America as always the HERO or the โ€˜HOLY VICTIMโ€™. I love America, but we (none of us) have not ALWAYS been the hero.

Too many people only see America as:

Israel and never Egyptโ€ฆ

Joseph and never his brothers who sold him into slaveryโ€ฆ

Esther & Mordecai and never Hamanโ€ฆ

Israel/Judah and never Assyriaโ€ฆ

Israel/Judah and never Babylonโ€ฆ

Jesus and never Judasโ€ฆ

Jesus and never the Phariseesโ€ฆ

Jesus and never Herodโ€ฆ

Jesus and never Pilateโ€ฆ

Israel and never the Romansโ€ฆ

And, even when America sees itself as Israel, too many in America never see themselves as REBUKED ISRAEL which God is holding accountable for their sins, but only heroic, victorious or restored Israel.

The bible is full of accounts of Israel being rebuked for not only their sins, but not rejecting the sins of their โ€˜fathersโ€™. Instead, too many sins of Americaโ€™s past are celebrated as โ€˜historyโ€™ and โ€˜heritageโ€™. God has proven that everything about our past should not only go uncelebrated, but should be confessed and repentedโ€ฆ

Leviticus 26:39-42 (NKJV)

39 And those of you who are left shall [a]waste away in their iniquity in your enemiesโ€™ lands; also in their fathersโ€™ iniquities, which are with them, they shall waste away.

40 โ€˜But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,

41 and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guiltโ€”

42 then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember;

I will remember the land.

Remember this, for restoration, God called for those who call themselves to be His to repent, not the โ€˜overtโ€™ sinners in the landโ€ฆ

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land

To many, so-called patriotism has become a form of idolatry. Pride will destroy American before anything else does.”

HERE’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VINDICATION & REVENGE…

Most of us have heard the saying, “Revenge is sweet”. We have all had moments that we have craved for revenge.

Thatโ€™s why I think the metaphor is appropriate because REVENGE and SUGAR have something in common. Just like sugar slowly deteriorates your teeth, the desire for revenge slowly deteriorates your spirit. It eats away at your spirit, defiles it and consumes your mental energy.

Besides, God never promised us revenge or allows us to take revenge. It belongs only to Him…

Romans 12:19  (NKJV)

19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, โ€œVengeance is Mine, I will repay,โ€ says the Lord.

Why?

Because revenge is judgement. It is condemnation. It is us deciding that people deserve to be paid back for how they have hurt us .

However, God does allow us to have and will sometimes grant us vindication. He has even promised vindication in His Word…

Isaiah 54:17 (NIV)

17     no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and this is their vindication from me,โ€
declares the Lord.

In the bible vindication is getting justice or clearing one’s name.

We all know revenge is getting even and repaying someone for what they’ve done. It is retaliation. And, God does not allow us to do that…

Matthew 5:38-42 Expanded Bible (EXB)

38 โ€œYou have heard that it was said, โ€˜An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth [Ex. 21:24Lev. 24:20Deut. 19:21].โ€™ 39 But I tell you, donโ€™t ยทstand up against [resist; retaliate against] an evil person. If someone ยทslaps [strikes] you on the right cheek [Cโ€ฏeither an insult or an act of violence], turn to him the other cheek also. 40 If someone wants to sue you in court and take your ยทshirt [tunic], let him have your coat also. 41 If someone forces you to go with him one mile, go with him two miles [Cโ€ฏalluding to the practice of impressment, whereby a Roman soldier could command a civilian to carry his gear for a mile]. 42 If a person asks you for something, give it to him. Donโ€™t ยทrefuse to give to [Lโ€ฏturn away from] someone who wants to borrow from you.

Revenge is getting them back.

Vindication is getting yourself back.

So, pray for vindication, but from the perspective that the person or those who injured you can be brought in right relationship with God.

Remember, God doesn’t love your enemies any less than He loves you.

DOES GOD A ACCEPT WORSHIP SERVICE WITHOUT TRADITIONAL HYMNALS…

Hymnals are an important and beloved part of the Christian tradition during worship service.

Many hymnals sung in churches were written centuries ago, but the lyrics are just as relevant today.

However, God raises up talented, creative and anointed psalmists for every generation. Yes, there’s plenty of meaningless, forgetful music out there intended to appeal to the senses and not the spirit, but there’s also tons of Christian songwriters and musicians who focus on honoring the scriptures with their music.

They write powerful, scriptural lyrics that live in specific genres to connect with believers all over the world.

Just as much as these ‘new hymnals’ are contemporary, those old songs were once ‘new school’ too.

The truth is, that as powerful and meaningful that, “Yield Not To Temptation” may be, the song and songs like it just won’t connect with some people in our generation or generations to come. However, all sincere believers have favorite spiritual songs that deliver the same message and help them connect with God.

None of the traditional songs that are so revered today (except for the Psalms) were written during ‘bible times.’ They’re spiritual but not scripture.

There are some Christians who will make you feel guilty about omitting classical hymnals during worship and using ‘bible apps’ instead of bound bibles.

They must be reminded that classical hymnals were once new, and bound bibles were ‘new technology’ after scrolls.

God DOES accept your worship as long as the songs are God-inspired and scriptural.

Traditional hymnals are a beautiful tradition, but they’re still just that…tradition NOT SCRIPTURE.

One day, the new songs written today will be Old School too.

Colossians 3:16 (NKJV)

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another (A)in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

WHY โ€˜GROWING APARTโ€™ IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR DIVORCEโ€ฆ

wp-image-5514092jpg.jpg

God intends for marriage to be a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, no matter how much our modern society makes and accepts excuses to ‘get out of it’. Especially what we call ‘irreconcilable differences’ or ‘we’re just growing apart’.

Malachi 2:16  (NKJV)

16 โ€œFor the Lord God of Israel says
That He hates divorce,
For it covers oneโ€™s garment with violence,โ€
Says the Lord of hosts.
โ€œTherefore take heed to your spirit,
That you do not deal treacherously.โ€

 Matthew 19:4-8  (NKJV)

And He answered and said to them, โ€œHave you not read that He who [a]made them at the beginning โ€˜made them male and female,โ€™ and said, โ€˜For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one fleshโ€™? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let not man separate.โ€They said to Him, โ€œWhy then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?โ€ He said to them, โ€œMoses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

God knows that no matter how much you love one another, that no two people will be the same after 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 plus years of marriage. It’s impossible. Yes, you will grow apart in some areas of your lives. But, that doesnโ€™t have to come between you.

Think about this. If God expected the arranged marriages to last in the bible days, He expects us to stay with the spouse that we choose.

How can we be ministers of reconciliation for Godโ€™s Kingdom if we canโ€™t even reconcile the differences in our homes?

2 Corinthians 5:18-19  (NKJV)

18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not [a]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

FOR THOSE WHO SAY JESUS NEVER ADDRESSED HOMOSEXUALITY…

Let me say first that I’m not excusing adultery, fornication or any other sexual sin. These sins also result from an innate, natural desire that we don’t ask for, and people make a choice to commit these sins based on that desire.

However, there are many people who are now trying to defend homosexuality by saying that Jesus never addressed it, or forbade it. They say only the Apostle Paul addressed it, and some even try to contend that he wasn’t really talking about homosexuality.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet.

We all know there are several sins that Jesus never directly addressed…

Rape…

Incest…

Domestic Abuse…

Bestiality…

Gossip…

Jealousy…

To name a few.

Jesus didn’t even say directly that getting drunk is a sin. It was indirect.

He did address marriage, fornication adultery and divorce.
And, no one disputes that the LORD only permits sex within marriage.
In Matthew Chapter 19, Jesus repeated what He Himself said as The Living Word in Genesis 5:2 , yes He was there in the beginning (Elohim, the name for God in Genesis is a plural noun)…
Matthew 19:4-5(NKJV)

4 And He answered and said to them, โ€œHave you not read that He who made[a] them at the beginning โ€˜made them male and female,โ€™[b]5 and said, โ€˜For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one fleshโ€™?[c]

The context of the conversation here is marriage and divorce. Jesus specifically calls out MALE and FEMALE in the context of marriage. This is not a cherry picked scripture.  It is Jesus in perfect harmony with what God established in the beginning.

Jesus clearly says let HIM (male) be joined to his WIFE (female), because some try to contend, ‘who says that a wife has to be a woman’.

This undeniably defines marriage as between a man and woman.

These verses (Genesis and Matthew) define marriage as between a man and woman. And, since God only permits sex within marriage, sex with any partner, heterosexual or homosexual is sin.

So yes, without saying the word ‘homosexuality’, Yeshua, Christ Jesus addressed it. Any other conclusion is conjecture…reaching…trying to fit a square peg into a triangular slot.

For those who say that it’s okay because some people are born that way, click this…JUST BECAUSE SOMEONEโ€™S โ€˜BORN THAT WAYโ€™ DOESNโ€™T MAKE IT OKAYโ€ฆ

For those who want to bring up slavery in the bible to justify their argument to defend homosexuality, click this…LETโ€™S TALK ABOUT SLAVERY IN THE BIBLEโ€ฆ

And remember, no matter what sin someone is struggling with, God expects us to love everyone without excusing or condoning the sin.

WHEN PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO LOVE ACCURATE HISTORY ARE COOL WITH A ‘EUROPEAN-LOOKING’ JESUS…

There is a discussion, sometimes contentious, going on in America about how history is taught in schools. Many of the people who are passionate about controlling the narrative claim to be Christians. They claim to be concerned with the accurateness of how history is taught, especially because of it’s influence on future generations.

God has the same concern…

John 4:24 (NKJV)

24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.โ€

Revelation 22:18-19 (NKJV)

18 [a]For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, [b]God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God[c] shall take away his part from the [d]Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

The bible makes it clear that Yeshua the Messiah was both human and divine. It also makes it clear that He was born a Jew. He was born in the Mediterranean, actually in Asia. It’s what we call the Middle East (relative to Europe of course). The region borders Africa and those born in that region don’t have the physical traits that are depicted in many images of Jesus.

It has driven thought among people of many races as to how Jesus looked. It’s interesting that many people who claim to be passionate about preserving history and it’s accuracy are perfectly fine with a European image of Jesus. Many people who claim to be passionate about scriptures, and will argue until they are ‘blue in the face’ about being true to the bible, will quickly claim, ‘his color doesn’t matter’ when this is mentioned. Many people who cherry-pick their way through the bible will say, ‘what does it matter?’

And, it especially, personally pisses me off when someone proclaims, “Why are you spreading division?”

Division?

Why is it than when certain narratives are challenged that it’s considered ‘division’? ‘Hate?’ ‘Negativity’?

I’m a Black man who lives in the United States of America, and unfortunately, many discussions come down to BLACK and WHITE.

I try to make it a point to challenge all of us with the content of this blog WHAT โ€˜BLACK-ON-BLACK CRIMEโ€™ & โ€˜WHITE PRIVILEGEโ€™ HAVE IN COMMONโ€ฆ

Many people are introduced to faith in God through Yeshua the Messiah, believing that God is White. They are taught that Jesus was born with White flesh, and the Gospel is preached from that perspective.

This has influenced thought to the point that many won’t accept a ‘Black Jesus’…

The fact that ‘White Jesus’ (Yeshua) is the one FALSE JESUS that people seem to resist challenging…

https://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/10-versions-of-jesus-people-are-falling-for.html?utm_medium=fbpageu0026amp;utm_source=Facebooku0026amp;utm_campaign=ibupdateu0026amp;fbclid=IwAR3fCHdelEBoA6IKdHwkd_TA_vR2CVMbfKOfBpCQfa2Z_AydU3U9Zlyglck

This is one of the reasons that I believe that we are to never portray an image of Christ based on…

Exodus 20:4-5a (NKJV)

โ€œYou shall not make for yourself a carved imageโ€”any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor [a]serve them.

One could easily consider any image of the Son of God to be idolatry. Even though we don’t know exactly what He looked/looks like, by virtue of ‘race’ (for lack of a better word) FAITH, NOT RACEโ€ฆ and culture in which He was born, we know what He didn’t look like.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND SOMEONE TO LOVE THEM…

Have you ever heard anyone say that you can’t love someone if you don’t understand them? NOT TRUE!

God has commanded that we love one another…

John 13:34-35 (NKJV)

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.โ€

There are on caveats or conditions with this command…we just gotta love one another y’all!

God loves us no matter what we do. And, He doesn’t love your worst enemy any less than He loves you.

So remember this.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND SOMEONE TO LOVE THEM!

If you’re married, there are some things about your spouse that you’ll never understand.

There will be things about your children or your siblings that will always bother you, and bother you a lot.

There will always be people who’s behavior will never make sense to you.

There will always be people whose behavior you will never condone.

There will always be people who will hate you for absolutely no reason…

And we still have to love all of them! We must still always pray for God to meet them at their every point of need.

We must always pray that they submit to Gods. WORD…WILL..LOVE and SALVATION.

We must always pray that they learn what pleases God…

Ephesians 5:10 (NIV)

10 and find out what pleases the Lord.

We must always pray that they grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God, so they can truly know Him better…

We must always pray that they get to truly KNOW GOD BETTER…

Ephesians 1:17 (NIV)

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

As a matter of fact, that’s what makes love REAL When we can truly want the best according to God’s will for someone in the most conditions that challenge love the most…because that’s how God continues to love us.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THINGS YOU HATE ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOUย LOVEโ€ฆ

BE BLESSTIFIED!

BEFORE YOU SAY ‘LOVE HAS FAILED’, READ THIS…

God is perfect and God is pure love, so that means pure love is perfect.

1 John 4:7 (NKJV)

7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

But many times when relationships fail, when we hurt one another, or when we see the worst in human behavior, people will conclude that love has failed. When we look at someone that we consider to be pure evil, we can conclude, there’s not enough love in the world to help or save that person. When someone has betrayed us over and over and over and over again, we can conclude we don’t have ‘enough’ love to forgive them.

Yeshua (Jesus) said that in the last days because of the evil and wickedness in the world the love of many would ‘wax cold’, their hearts would begin to harden…

Matthew 24:12  (NIV)

12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,

This is just a quick reminder that Godโ€™s love is perfect but ours isnโ€™t.

God’s love is 24 karat gold…it’s pure. Our love varies from 1 karat to 23 karats, depending on the situation. Just because ‘gold’ isn’t 24 karat’s doesn’t mean it’s not gold. And, just because our love isn’t 24 karat, doesn’t mean it’s not love.

When our love has failed, it doesn’t mean there wasn’t ‘enough love to give, it just means we didn’t ‘give enough love’.

That’s the reason when people in a marriage or family hurt, betray, deny, embarrass, mistreat, and disrespect one another, it doesn’t mean they don’t love one another. It just means their love isn’t ‘pure’ ‘perfect’ or ‘mature’ enough. And, that’s a life long process.

Think about it like this. Ask yourself the following questions and fill in the blanks YES or NO.

Do I love God? __________

Have I ever hurt God?__________

Have I ever disobeyed God?_________

Have I ever embarrassed God?____________

Have I ever disrespected God?______________

Now…

Does that mean that you don’t love Him?__________________

1 Peter 4:8  (NKJV)

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for โ€œlove will cover a multitude of sins.โ€

BE BLESSTIFIED!

WHEN GOD’S CHILDREN PLAY TOO MUCH WITH HIS NAME & PRAYER…

God demands that His name always be handled with reverence and respect…ALWAYS!

Matthew 6:9 (NLT)

Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy

Exodus 20:7 (NLT)

โ€œYou must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.

Remember, God’s name is not GOD. And, yes He has names that describe attributes of His character, (Yahweh or Yah, Yehovah Yirah, Yehovah Sabaoth, Yehovah Shalom, etc.) but God’s name is also His authority, His essence, His heritage,…and that of His Son and our Savior Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ). His name is WHO HE IS.

Exodus 3:13-14 (NKJV)

13 Then Moses said to God, โ€œIndeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, โ€˜The God of your fathers has sent me to you,โ€™ and they say to me, โ€˜What is His name?โ€™ what shall I say to them?โ€

14 And God said to Moses, โ€œI AM WHO I AM.โ€ And He said, โ€œThus you shall say to the children of Israel, โ€˜I AM has sent me to you.โ€™ โ€

Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)

19 Go [a]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Those of us who claim to be called by His name and belong to Him….Those of us who claim the responsibility and honor of representing the authority of His name, his character and reputation… most of us want our names handled with respect. Most of us want people to respect the names of our parents, and those who are a part of our heritage with respect.

So, it’s unfortunate when the children of God think it’s okay to ‘play with the name of God’ by referring to Him with disrespect, in jokes, and even playing with prayer.

In conversations, movies, songs, comdey, memes, GIFs etc. people misuse and reduce God’s name to silliness for jokes for impact…

‘DEAR BABY JESUS’…

‘LAWD HAM MERCY’…

‘OH LAWD’…

‘HALLELU-YER’…

Shouting ‘JESUS CHRIST’ as an exclamation…

The list goes on and on.

One popular Writer/Producer/Director/Actor has made ‘HALLELU-YER’ extremely popular.

The fact is that the YAH syllable in HALLELUYAH is actually one of God’s names…

“Hallel- TO PRAISE OR GLORIFY Yah- SHORTENED FORM OF YAHWEH

When people jokingly pray to ‘BABY JESUS’, the Jesus that died for our sins wasn’t a baby. Our salvation at the time He was a child had not yet been secured. It’s silly and irreverent to pray to BABY JESUS for the sake of a joke. That’s not keeping His name holy.

What’s also unfortunate is that when called out on this rebellious behavior, many who claim to be Christian will immediately look for reasons to justify it, and explain how it’s not a bit deal…it’s not that serious. Too many times Christians ignore what the word of God explicitly says and finds excuses to do what they really want to do.

This equates to telling God what He must accept from us, rather than submitting to His clear expectations.

Even though we can’t tell those who don’t believe what to do, those of us in the Body of Christ should be the first to KEEP HIS NAME HOLY and hold one another accountable in doing so.

I love having fun, but some things need to left alone….Especially by Christians.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

WHY SOME PRAYERS ARE BEST SAID SILENTLY (WHISPER IN GOD’S EAR)…

Do you remember in the first chapter of 1 Samuel when Hannah, Eli’s wife, prayed silently and he thought she was drunk because he only saw her lips moving?

God heard that prayer and granted her a son.

The more I learn about how things work in the spirit world and how they effect the physical world…

The more I learn about the spiritual battles that take place over our lives by angels and fallen angels…

The more I realize that some prayers need to remain silent. Some things, some plans, some goals, and especially some fears need to remain between you and God.

Notice what happened when Daniel prayed about one of his visions, the angel that God dispatched to give him revelation was detained 3 weeks by a high ranking fallen angel…

Daniel 10:10-14 (NKJV)

10 Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands. 11 And he said to me, โ€œO Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.โ€ While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.

12 Then he said to me, โ€œDo not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.โ€

Notice how Yeshua reminds us that we all have angels who minister to us daily…

Matthew 18:10 (NKJV)

10 โ€œTake heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

You can’t believe in God without believing in angels and fallen angels (demons). These demons partner with the adversary (the devil) in being our aggressive antagonists.

Matthew 18:10 (NKJV)

10 โ€œTake heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

The devil is our spiritual adversary, but he does not have the ability to know our thoughts. But, just like any physical human adversary, he can react to what you say to antagonize and hinder you. He and his fallen angel cohorts can react to what you say.

That’s why people can’t throw around the common Christian catch phrase, SPEAK IT INTO EXISTENCE too loosely. 2 REASONS WHY WE SHOULD BE CAREFUL BEFORE WE SAY โ€˜SPEAK IT INTO EXISTENCEโ€™ or โ€˜NAME IT & CLAIM ITโ€™โ€ฆ

Just as a physical enemy will react to your words, so will the devil and demons. So, be very mindful that some things DON’T need to be said out loud.

Some prayers need to be spoken in your heart as you pray silently, just as Hannah did.

God has knowledge of what you need even before you ask.

His Holy Spirit steps in when words can’t be expressed or don’t need to be expressed…

When you pray silently it’s just like whispering in God’s ear.

Romans 8:26 (NKJV)

26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Be careful how and with whom you share your plans…

Be careful how and with whom you share your hopes…

Be careful how and with whom you share your fears…

Pray for wisdom on what should be spoken out loud and when you should whisper in God’s ear.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

WHEN PEOPLE PLACE MORE FAITH IN THEIR GUNS THAN GOD…

Let me first say that I absolutely believe that God gives us the right to arm ourselves as individuals. Notice what Yeshua, Jesus, told His disciples…

Luke 22:35-36 (NKJV)

35 And He said to them, โ€œWhen I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?โ€

So they said, โ€œNothing.โ€

36 Then He said to them, โ€œBut now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.

The Lord told His own disciples that if they don’t have a weapon they should get one…to defend themselves. Jesus made this clear when Peter used His sword when Jesus was arrested.

Matthew 26:51-52 (NKJV)

51 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

52 But Jesus said to him, โ€œPut your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will [a]perish by the sword.

John 18:10-15 (NKJV)

10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priestโ€™s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servantโ€™s name was Malchus.

11 So Jesus said to Peter, โ€œPut your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?โ€

However, even if God permits us to arm ourselves, just as He doesn’t want us to put our faith in riches, He also doesn’t want us to put our faith in our guns…as if they are what insures our salvation when attacked.

Psalm 33:16-18 (NKJV)

16 No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
17 A horse is a [a]vain hope for safety;
Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy,

Psalm 44:6-8 (NKJV)

For I will not trust in my bow,
Nor shall my sword save me.
But You have saved us from our enemies,
And have put to shame those who hated us.
In God we boast all day long,
And praise Your name forever. Selah

Remember God delivered Israel from Egypt without one weapon. He fought for them.

Remember also, though out numbered, God fought for Judah because Jehoshaphat put his faith in God…

2 Chronicles 20:15-23 (NKJV)

15 And he said, โ€œListen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: โ€˜Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but Godโ€™s. 16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the [a]brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!โ€™ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.โ€

18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. 19 Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high.

20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, โ€œHear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.โ€ 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

โ€œPraise the Lord,
For His mercy endures forever.โ€

22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. 23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they [b]had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

In Joshua’s farewell address, He reminded the Israel of the real source of their help…

Joshua 23:8-10 (NKJV)

but you shall hold fast to the Lord your God, as you have done to this day. For the Lord has [a]driven out from before you great and strong nations; but as for you, no one has been able to stand against you to this day. 10 One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the Lord your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you.

Too many people in our society have prioritized their weapons over what’s more important to the Lord…just as when Yeshua rebuked the Pharisees of neglecting compassion while prioritizing their tithes…

Matthew 23:23 (NKJV)

23 โ€œWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.

There are some people who quickly react when they feel their guns are threatened, but are silent when it comes to JUSTICE, MERCY and FAITH.

Just as God allowed Israel and Judah to be taken into captivity, God can allow GUNS TO BE TAKEN and loss of freedom because of PRIDE, ARROGANCE, COMPROMISE, COMPLACENCY, ASSIMILATION, and SPIRITUAL ADULTERY! Thatโ€™s why God saidโ€ฆ

2 Chronicles 7:14ย  (NKJV)

14ย if My people who areย called by My name willย humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,ย then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

The most powerful weapon we have is the word of God. That’s what Jesus used to resist the devil while He was in the wilderness. The word of God is more powerful than any weapon ever made…

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

12ย For the word of Godย isย living and powerful, andย sharper than anyย two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and isย a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Remember God’s promise through the Prophet Isaiah…

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV)

17ย No weapon formed against you shallย prosper,
And every tongueย whichย rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
Thisย isย the heritage of the servants of theย Lord,
And their righteousnessย isย from Me,โ€
Says theย Lord.

Don’t place your faith in the wrong weapon…YOU CANโ€™T BRING A GUN TO A SWORDย FIGHT!

BE BLESSTIFIED!

4 THINGS THAT ‘BLACK-ON-BLACK CRIME’ & ‘WHITE PRIVILEGE’ HAVE IN COMMON…

We have more in common than we sometimes realize, even when we disagree.

Two of the most controversial topics in America, if not the world, are BLACK-ON-BLACK CRIME and WHITE PRIVILEGE They are both issues that are quickly deflected when mentioned to many in their respective races.

BLACK-ON-BLACK CRIME

There are countless neighborhoods in America where many of the residents live in fear, not of racists…not of other races…but of people who look like them. There is vigorous debate as to the causes such as generational poverty, systematic racism, the drug epidemic, organized gangs and others. However, the problem still persists and is undeniable. Many people within the Black community act just the same as people of other races when certain neighborhoods and cities are mentioned. The fact is that many of the EXTERNAL REASONS have been accepted as EXCUSES by many.

WHITE PRIVILEGE

Even if a white person is born in abject poverty and works very hard to become successful, the fact that they benefited from a system that was designed through generations that put them at an advantage. Societal attitudes, preferences, and norms have been established from a ‘white’ perspective. Even from the simple fact that many products whose packaging lists the color as ‘nude’ is the color of white flesh. The fact that beauty standard for generations have been based on ‘European’ features. And, that ‘acceptable’ history has been recorded from one perspective (for examples, Native Americans were portrayed as savages, and cowboys as heroes) . Injustice, inequality, inequity and a sense of entitlement (even though sometimes unintentional) is an undeniably interwoven into United States history as the extraordinary opportunities that the country offers.

As different as these two issues may be, they have some things in common and they have common solutions.

1. BOTH PROVOKE A DEFENSIVE RESPONSE

When you mention Black-on-Black crime to or White privilege to many members of their respective races, they are quick to respond…”There is no such thing!” Mentioning both issues quickly yield a defensive response. Both issues are quickly deflected with reasons to either justify, excuse or dismiss the behavior.

2. PEOPLE WITHIN EACH RACE ARE AFRAID TO ADMIT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE BACKLASH

There are many people in both communities who quietly agree there is a problem, but they know if they speak up about it, they will be ridiculed by people within their own race.

3. BOTH HAVE BIBLICAL EXAMPLES

Israel spent 400 years of slavery in Egypt. After being established in the “Promised Land”, they were exiled in a strange country and considered second-class citizens. Even in the days of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) they were under Roman rule and considered second-class citizens in their own land. This caused internal and cultural challenges within the Jewish nation.

A gentle once told me, there is no such thing as ‘white privilege’ in the Bible. My response was study the Romans…the people, not the New Testament book. The Romans were European conquerors who felt entitled to the spoil of whomever they conquered. In the case of Israel, the Romans considered themselves superior, they did not associate with the Jews on an equal level, and their very empire was set-up to give them an advantage economically, socially and legally.

4. BOTH ISSUES SHARE COMMON SOLUTIONS

No matter what external challenges the Jews faces, God still expected them to maintain the integrity of His name and to always represent Him in their behavior through the most difficult situations. Look at what God told them while exiled in Babylon…

Jeremiah 29:4-14 (NKJV)

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all who were carried away captive, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:

Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughtersโ€”that you may be increased there, and not diminished. And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you, nor listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed. For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them, says the Lord.

10 For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.

So God doesn’t give ‘a pass’ to indulge in crime because of the external challenges.

God also has an expectation of those who find themselves in a position of power. . Being a member of the majority puts one at an advantage. To be a member of the ‘majority’ is a position of strength. And, what is God’s expectation of ‘the strong’?

Romans 15:1-2 (NKJV)

We then who are strong ought to bear with the [a]scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to [b]edification.

God expects those who are in the position of strength to consider those who are weaker rather than please themselves.

Both Black and White people must:

Amit to themselves their own cultural challenges.

Courageously and aggressively address those challenges INTERNALLY in spite of any EXTERNAL causes or influences.

Every race and society must promote a culture and expectation must of EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE that perfectly aligns with the word of God. Many of our problems in society can be solved through cultures of high Emotional Intelligence (when one is aware of his or her emotions and the emotions of those around them and the ability to control their emotions).

Promote a culture of EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE that perfectly aligns with the word of God. Many of our problems in society can be solved through cultures of high Emotional Intelligence (when one is aware of his or her emotions and the emotions of those around them and the ability to control their emotions).

Crime, an attitude of privilege, as well as other sins…murder, theft, fornication, adultery, rage, wrath, revenge, greed, hatred, drunkenness, idolatry, selfishness can be cured by controlling our emotions. This must be achieved on and individual and cultural level. And, this behavioral science concept aligns perfectly with scripture…

Ephesians 4:31-32 (NKJV)

31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, [a]clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Colossians 3:5-11 (NKJV)

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV)

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

God give us the responsibility to change, and the gift of His Holy Spirit to make those changes.

We all have more in common than we often realize, even when we disagree.

FROM THE HEART OF A FATHER WHOSE DAUGHTER WAS BULLIED……

wp-1481496255758.jpg

In the early to mid 1990โ€™s a little girl bounced, pigtails swinging, into her first day of kindergarten. She insisted on going in alone. As her young parents watched her disappear in the door, both their eyes welled up with tears. This bittersweet day that they, both looked forward to and dreaded had finally come โ€“ and it was more bitter than sweet.

You see, this little girl had courageously overcome at least one surgery every year to correct birth defects. The doctors said she would be both blind and brain-damaged to her devastated, but faithful parents at birth. Each year, she would desperately reach back for her parents as staff took her from โ€˜The Bunny Roomโ€™ (where children could choose a toy before surgery) off to the operating room. God honored their faith and through the expert staff at Le Bonheur Childrenโ€™s Hospital in Memphis TN., she was neither blind nor brain damaged – God worked a miracle in her life.

Her mind was sharp, and God blessed her with sight in one eye and a prosthesis that fit perfectly over the other eye that both looked and moved perfectly.

However, as beautiful as she was, there were still some minor, subtle features that made her feel uncomfortableโ€ฆand we all know how cruel children can be in school.

This little girl walked in with the excitement and hope of all children to have the friends and normal school experience that all children deserveโ€ฆand yes she did make good friends. But, there are always those children and some adults who love to amuse themselves and affirm themselves at the expense of others.

This sweet little girl was BULLIED.

This sweet little girl would have her expectations of a happy school year ripped from under her EACH year by a few other children who felt she didnโ€™t deserve to be happy at school.

They werenโ€™t there at the โ€˜Bunny Roomโ€™ before surgeryโ€ฆ

They werenโ€™t there for the pain as the scars healedโ€ฆ

They werenโ€™t there as she looked in the mirror desperately wanting to just feel normalโ€ฆ

They werenโ€™t there when she begged morning after morning to stay home from schoolโ€ฆ

They werenโ€™t there when she looked her parents though tears asking โ€œwhy donโ€™t they like me?โ€

This constant emotional, physical and psychological abuse slowly chipped away at her self-esteem as her parents did everything they could to help their sweet child. There are few things worse than sending your child to a hostile environmentโ€ฆwith little to no power to change it.

Sometimes as she put her head in her hands to escape to herself for a few moments, children would still poke her in the back of the head. WHAT IF, in a temporary moment of rage she raised her head and blindly lashed out with a pencil striking one of the bullies in the temple with a pencilโ€ฆwho would be made to look the villain in this situation.

She wasnโ€™t the villain, and didnโ€™t ask to be the victim.

As much as violence has no place in our schools, we must ask ourselves WHY when some students lash out.

When I watch some tragic news stories, I sometimes wonder what led to that point. It isn’t always violent video games and music that lead to such behavior…they sometimes provide the fuel for emotions that have been created through bullying.

Yes, some people come out on top after years of bullying, but everyone isnโ€™t blessed with the same coping mechanismsโ€ฆsome just canโ€™t handle it.

This young lady made it through school allowing herself to continue being hurt, without hurting someone elseโ€ฆbut if she had, the last thing she deserved was to be portrayed as a villain and possibly imprisoned because she couldnโ€™t take it any more.

I am in no way defending those children who violently attack their fellow students and teachers, but we must be honest enough with ourselves to realize that SOMETIMESโ€ฆthere is more to the story.

Unfortunately, bullying doesnโ€™t stop in school. Adults do the same thing once they begin working. There are bullies in our offices, stores, factoriesโ€ฆanywhere people can work. One of my greatest disappointments in โ€˜growing upโ€™ in realizing how many of us donโ€™t.

When someone is born with challenges that most of us donโ€™t have to endure, let us not allow bullies to ruin their lives. Too many time our culture not only allows, but sometimes supports this behavior. Let us be sensitive to them, Let us embrace them, nurture themโ€ฆthey deserve to enjoy life as everyone else.

This young lady turned out to be a beautiful person both inside and out – to God be the Glory!

Just as the man born blind in John Chapter 9, many times God has special purpose to get glory out of their lives. Their lives are meant for PURPOSE and not PAIN.

John 9:1-3 (NKJV)

Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, โ€œRabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?โ€3 Jesus answered, โ€œNeither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.

WHY AREN’T ‘EVANGELICALS’ PASSIONATELY AGAINST ONE SIN THAT JESUS SPECIFICALLY FORBADE?

Listening to the news I was again amazed at a gentleman who says heโ€™s a Christian who was proclaiming how passionate he is about keeping his OATH to defend the constitution.

I have absolutely no problem with defending the constitution…itโ€™s our duty.

I do however have a problem with TAKING AN OATH rather than โ€˜affirmingโ€™ to do so.

Why?

Because Yeshua, The Messiah, (Jesus Christ) implicitly, unmistakably and irrevocably FORBADE it…

Matthew 5:33-37 (NKJV)

33 โ€œAgain you have heard that it was said to those of [a]old, โ€˜You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.โ€™ 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is Godโ€™s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let [b]your โ€˜Yesโ€™ be โ€˜Yes,โ€™ and your โ€˜No,โ€™ โ€˜No.โ€™ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

It doesn’t get more plain that those two verses.

It’s amazing how some sins such as homosexuality and abortion are politicized, while swearing and taking oaths are not only ignored, but done blatantly in the face of God demanding that He accept it.

Many people’s minds immediately go to looking for excuses and reasons to justify a tradition that clearly goes directly against what Jesus commanded, just like the Pharisees…

Mark 7:7-13 (NKJV)

And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.โ€™

For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of menโ€”[a]the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.โ€

He said to them, โ€œAll too well you [b]reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. 10 For Moses said, โ€˜Honor your father and your motherโ€™; and, โ€˜He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.โ€™ 11 But you say, โ€˜If a man says to his father or mother, โ€œWhatever profit you might have received from me is Corbanโ€โ€”โ€™ (that is, a gift to God), 12 then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother, 13 making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.โ€

Quite frankly, this tradition is directly from Satan (37 But let [b]your โ€˜Yesโ€™ be โ€˜Yes,โ€™ and your โ€˜No,โ€™ โ€˜No.โ€™ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.“) however, it continues for generations because, just like the ‘system’ during Jesus’s earthly ministry, the system excuses, justifies and expects it.

Is homosexuality a sin?

Yes.

Is abortion a sin?

Yes.

Is adultery a sin?

Yes.

Is idolatry a sin?

Yes.

Is taking an oath of office, or in court, or into public service as in?

Yes, just as much as those mentioned above.

So, why are Americans content with that? Where is the passion for removing the stain of this sin from our country?

Before you blame the the wrong in America on the two or three big sins you hate…God could be pissed off at the sins you accept, such as oaths and pride.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

WHEN YOU GIVE UP YOUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOR YOUR JOB OR CAREER…

Most American’s are passionate and protective of their right to free speech…

Or are we?

How many people have willingly signed away their right to free speech because of their job or career.

Companies, school systems, municipalities, government agencies, and even religious organizations don’t want their employees making them ‘look bad’ or liable; so they make one of the conditions of employment a contract that ‘limits’ what they can say publicly if they are to remain employed.

I’m talking about speech that’s respectful and responsible, not reckless.

Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV)

29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary [a]edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Colossians 4:6 (NKJV)

Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Are you free to say what you want to say about your company and where they stand on issues?

Are you free to say how you feel about the culture of your organization without fear of retaliation?

Is there something that you want to responsibly express or share about your organization… about your faith… about what’s in your heart, but if you do so you know you could lose your job?

How many people endure toxic cultures, bullying, inequity, unfair policies, abuse of authority, basically from people who are merely ‘working for a living’ just like them because they fear losing their job…career…even their retirement?

Is that freedom of speech?

Restricting our ability to respectfully and responsibly be critical and hold accountable the leadership in our places of employment or our concerns about social or spiritual issues is quite frankly not allowed in many workplaces.

It can’t be equated to shouting ‘FIRE’ in a public place. That protects life. And there is some speech that is not protected by the constitution because it’s a threat to the ‘public good’ however, withholding what’s on our mind about our employers sometimes only protects egos, reputations and the threat of litigation.

Think about this, Americans are more free to say how they feel about their national, state and local leaders… their pastor… their loved ones… than their boss.

Many people even express their criticism to God Himself before the do so to their boss!

We are more free to tell God how we feel without fear of relaliation than the person for whom we work.

Psalm 142:1-2 (NKJV)

I cry out to the Lord with my voice;
With my voice to the Lord I make my supplication.
I pour out my complaint before Him;
I declare before Him my trouble.

God is more willing to ‘reason with us’ than many of our places of employment.

Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV)

18 โ€œCome now, and let us reason together,โ€
Says the Lord,
โ€œThough your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.

Is you freedom of speech that’s protected by the Constitution, surrendered in your contract?

Think about it, but be careful what you say about it at work.

WHEN TO BASE YOUR LOVE ON HOW MUCH IS SPENT ON YOU…

Pure love is supposed to be unconditional and priceless.

It is.

The problem is that none of us have achieved pure love. We haven’t perfected our ability to love.

Too many times we’re putting conditions and ‘price tags’ on the love we have for those who are closest to us. We all do it sometimes. Why? Because none of us have perfected love.

When we judge and measure by things that HAVE A PRICE we’re diminishing love. Never base your love on:

How much $ they spend on you.

Base love on…

How much FORGIVENE$$ they ‘spend’ on you.

How much KINDNE$$ they ‘spend’ on you.

How much GOODNE$$ they ‘spend’ on you.

How much FAITHFULNE$$ they ‘spend’ on you.

How much GENTLENE$$ they ‘spend’ on you.

How much $ELF-CONTROL they ‘spend’ on you.

Base it on how much JOY they give you for just being in your life, even if you have NOTHING.

And remember, when we fall short, it’s not because LOVE isn’t there, it just means our love isn’t perfect.

Only God’s is.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

1 Peter 4:8 (NKJV)

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for โ€œlove will cover a multitude of sins.โ€

Let’s pray that God helps us to love one another like He loves us, through peace.

YES, WE NEVER LOSE THE GIFT OF SALVATION, BUT โ€ฆ

cropped-wp-14789108568221.jpg
ADDRESSING “ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED”

Salvation is a precious free gift of God, that cannot ever be taken away by anyone. This gift provides us with eternal securityโ€ฆ

Ephesians 1:13-14  (NKJV)

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who[a] is the [b]guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

This inheritance is reserved for those of us according to how we manage our walk on this earth.

 1 Peter 1:7-9  (NKJV)

that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not [a]seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faithโ€”the salvation of your souls.

Yes, we can never lose the gift of salvation. It is always available as long as we are alive on this earth no matter what we have done.

However, we must not allow the syntax of โ€œonce saved always savedโ€ confuse us of its application.

Consider thisโ€ฆ

Every day of our lives, God is preparing our spirits for eternity.

Heโ€™s conditioning us to freely surrender our free will to His will.

Matthew 16:24-25 (NKJV)

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, โ€œIf anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

When our lives are over on this earth, our bodies will return to the dust of the earth, to be replaced with new spiritual bodies.

1 Corinthians 15:51-53  (NKJV)

51 Behold, I tell you a [a]mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changedโ€” 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Our bodies will be new, but our spirits will not be renewed when Jesus returns, they are being renewed right now.

 2 Corinthians 4:16  (NKJV)

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

We have a lifetime of refining our spirits for eternity. Itโ€™s our responsibility. Heโ€™s encouraging us to remove those things from our spirits that come between our relationship with Him. We are all born with โ€˜stuffโ€™ that we donโ€™t need. Thatโ€™s what circumcision represented, the cutting away โ€˜fleshโ€™ that we donโ€™t need.

Romans 2:29  (NKJV)

29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose [a]praise is not from men but from God.

2 Corinthians 7:1  (NKJV)

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

God is teaching us to allow our new nature to overcome our old nature.

2 Corinthians 5:17  (NKJV)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

God has kicked those who allowed their spirits to be corrupted out of His Kingdom once, but He’s not going to do it again.

Isaiah 14:12  (NKJV)

12 โ€œHow you are fallen from heaven,
[a]Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!

Ezekiel 28:16  (NKJV)

16 โ€œBy the abundance of your trading
You became filled with violence within,
And you sinned;
Therefore I cast you as a profane thing
Out of the mountain of God;
And I destroyed you, O covering cherub,
From the midst of the fiery stones.

 Revelation 12:7-9  (NKJV)

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they [a]did not prevail, nor was a place found for [b]them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

If your spirit isnโ€™t worthy, you just wonโ€™t get in.

Manage your health, manage your money, manage your relationships, manage your life, but please donโ€™t neglect managing your spirit.

Now is the time to get resist all the filth that corrupts our spiritsโ€ฆ

Galatians 5:19-21  (NKJV)

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: [a]adultery, [b]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, [c]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things WILL NOT inherit the kingdom of God.

Your salvation is not a license to do wrong. Remember, the warning of Galatians 5:19-21 is not just for the sinner, but itโ€™s for the churchโ€ฆ

This is huge and often overlooked. Galatians, and all of Paulโ€™s letters were addressing the church and all those who are โ€˜savedโ€™ in the church (as well as both of Peterโ€™s letters). Notice the greetings to each letter…

Galatians 1:1-5 (NKJV)

Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), and all the brethren who are with me,

To the churches of Galatia:

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

 1 Corinthians 1:1-3 (NKJV)

Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are [a]sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 2 Corinthians 1:1-2 (NKJV)

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

To the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:1-2 (NKJV)

Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ,

To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the [a]bishops and deacons:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Colossians 1:1-2 (NKJV)

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father [a]and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Ephesians 1:1-2  (NKJV)

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God,

To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 1 Peter 1:1-2 (NKJV)

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,

To the [a]pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:

Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

 2 Peter 1:1  (NKJV)

Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who have [a]obtained like[b] precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

Notice that the greetings to these letters address โ€˜the brethernโ€™, the โ€˜sanctifiedโ€™, โ€˜the saintsโ€™ โ€˜the electโ€™, โ€˜in sactificationโ€™, โ€˜those who have obtained precious faithโ€™. And, every warning in each of those letters applies to them, not just the unsaved. I encourage you to go back and read through each one thoroughly.

And, remember this, no one can be an apostate to something that they were never a part ofโ€ฆ

 2 Thessalonians 2:3 (NKJV)

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of [a]sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

Please never forget the warning that Jesus gave usโ€ฆ

Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV)

13 โ€œEnter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 [a]Because narrow is the gate and [b]difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

So, honestly ask yourself this question, โ€œIs my spirit ready for eternity?โ€

This may also bless you: WHY MOST PEOPLE WILL GO TO HELLโ€ฆ

WHY GOD IS ANTI-GAY, BUT NOT ANTI-GAY PEOPLE…

Because God loves gay people. God loves everyone.

Don’t get it twisted. This is not just a self-righteous, judgmental platitudeโ€ฆitโ€™s biblical truth.

Why is God anti-gay?

Because God is anti-adultery, but not anti-adulterer.

Heโ€™s anti-fornication, but not anti-fornicator.

Heโ€™s anti-murder, but not anti-murderer

Heโ€™s anti-malice, but not anti-malicious.

Heโ€™s anti-hate, but not anti-hater.

Heโ€™s anti-lie, but not anti-liar.

Heโ€™s anti-foolishness, but not anti-fool.

Heโ€™s anti-pride, but not anti-proud person.

Heโ€™s anti-greed, but not anti-greedy person.

I think you get the picture. God is anti-sin, but He is not anti-sinner. Even though there are those trying to now establish that homosexuality is not a sin. It still is. Even though many people are trying to say that thatโ€™s not what Sodom and Gomorrah was about. It still was (Genesis 19). Even though many people are trying to say that Jesus never addressed homosexuality, He still did (Matthew 19:4-6) FOR THOSE WHO SAY JESUS NEVER ADDRESSED HOMOSEXUALITYโ€ฆ. And even though people are refuting what Paul said about it, itโ€™s still truth (Romans 1:24-27).

But, itโ€™s also true that there are multiple other sins that are equally as wrong as homosexuality (Romans 1:28-32, 2:1-3). GOD HATES MORE THAN HOMOSEXUALITY & ABORTION (DONโ€™T CHERRY PICK SINS)โ€ฆ

Calling out homosexuality, as well as any other sins, is not hateโ€ฆitโ€™s our responsibility (Ezekiel 33:1-11, Romans 6:23). But, we must always rememberโ€ฆ

To do so in love (1 Corinthians 16:14).

To remember that we are all sinners saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8).

We are all born with innate desires that we must overcome with the help of Godโ€™s Holy Spirit (Psalm 51:5). JUST BECAUSE SOMEONEโ€™S โ€˜BORN THAT WAYโ€™ DOESNโ€™T MAKE IT OKAYโ€ฆ

So no matter what your sin may be, God still loves you!

God is anti-sin, but He is never anti-you!

1 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)

9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

WE’RE BOTH USING SCRIPTURE SO…HOW TO TELL WHO’S ‘RIGHT’?

Weโ€™re Both Using Scripture, So Whose Right?mi mi

Itโ€™s undeniable that sincere, devoted Christians donโ€™t always agree on the interpretation and application of Godโ€™s wordโ€ฆthe bible.

How many times have you been in a discussion and someone uses scripture to support โ€˜theirโ€™ point and you think to yourself, โ€œUmmm, thatโ€™s not what that means.

One of the main reasons that there are so many different groups  or denominations within Christianity is because sincere Christians donโ€™t agree on what was meant by what God said in His inspired word.

โ€œOnce Saved Always Savedโ€

No music instrumental music in worship service

Speaking in Tongues

Proper dress for men or women

Female ministers and pastors

Proper day to worship

Should we celebrate holidays

Tithing

Clean and unclean foods

Should there be priest in church

Is it a sin to drink alcohol

These are just a few of the points in which sincere Christians disagree, unfortunately sometimes to the point of contention. Whether it be huge doctrinal issues or individual disagreements in navigating โ€˜real lifeโ€™ situations, too many times Christians are at odds when the word of God clearly saidโ€ฆ

1 Corinthians 1:10 (NKJV)

10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Jesus Christ Himself was continually called a devil because He challenged how the religious elite interpreted and viewed the scriptures.

So, how do you know who is right and who is wrong?  NO ONE!

Itโ€™s not about US being right or wrong, but who is in harmony with Godโ€™s truth. We must be careful not to fall into the mindset of trying to prove we are right. We didnโ€™t create the world. We didnโ€™t die on the cross. We have no authority to be โ€˜RIGHTโ€™.

So our goal isnโ€™t to be right, but to be in agreement with Godโ€™s truth. We can only have unity in the body of Christ when we adopt this mindset. Here are a few ways to tell who is in harmony with Godโ€™s truth.

Those who are willing toโ€ฆ

ACCEPT NO GROUP HAS IT ALL RIGHT

Itโ€™s interesting how groups and denomonations are so different, but each thinks they are โ€˜the closet to the truthโ€™. As we grow in our faith, we realize that God doesnโ€™t change, but our theology evolves and changes. Thatโ€™s what Jesus did. He challenged their theology. Look at some of Jesusโ€™ statement I Matthew 5โ€ฆ

Matthew 5:17(NKJV)

17 โ€œThink not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfillโ€ฆโ€

27 โ€œYou have heard it saidโ€ฆโ€

31 โ€œFurthermore it has been saidโ€ฆโ€

33 Again you have heard it was said to those of oldโ€ฆโ€

We have to mature and secure enough to realize that we can challenge our theology, grow and change our thinking without implying that the word or God has changed. Every group, just as the religious leaders in the New Testament has to be willing to accept that they are currently believing and practicing some things that ARE NOT in harmony with Godโ€™s truth.

HOLDING ON TRADITION

TRYING TO JUSTIFY WHAT WE WANT TO BELIEVE

WHEN GOD FORGETS, IT DOESN’T MEAN HE CAN’T REMEMBER…

picsart_08-01-087807570356582205740.png

One of the most beautiful gifts from God is His gift of forgiveness. When we repent and confess our sins to Him, He will forgive of all our sins, even those we call great.

1 John 1:9  (NKJV)

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Thatโ€™s good news for someone struggling with guilt. But, we must be very careful to not get it twisted. Many people have unintentionally taken Hebrews 8:12 and Micah 7:19 out of context and taught people the wrong thing.

Hebrews 8:12  (NKJV)

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins [a]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.โ€

Micah 7:18-19 (NKJV)

19 He will again have compassion on us,
And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all [b]our sins
Into the depths of the sea.

Many people have taught and teach that God FORGETS our sins, and that He can no longer remember what we did wrong.

According to Strongโ€™s Concordance, โ€˜REMEMBERโ€™ here means: (through the idea of fixture in the mind or of mental grasp); to bear in mind, i.e. recollect; by implication, to reward or punish:–be mindful, remember, come (have) in remembrance.

Notice that part of that definition states, โ€œto reward or punishโ€.

Bearing that in mind, and also knowing that our all-powerful, all-knowing cannot โ€˜forgetโ€™ anything, we can conclude that when God โ€˜doesnโ€™t rememberโ€™ our sins means that He doesnโ€™t bring them back up against to condemn us or hold against us as long as we have truly repented.

God is too powerful to simply, ‘forget’

Think about how many times in the Old Testament God reminded Israel of sins He had forgiven after they had backslidden. For more on this subject, read…YES, EVEN GOD SOMETIMES BROUGHT UP THE PAST AFTER HE FORGAVEโ€ฆ

He reminded them of what they had done. You canโ€™t remind someone of something that you donโ€™t remember.

Also think about the fact that even when we truly forgive one another it doesn’t mean we don’t remember what they did…we just don’t hold it against them anymore. Now, if we don’t forget, are we more powerful than God?

Yes, God casts our sins into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19), but that doesnโ€™t mean He doesnโ€™t remember where He cast them. The beautiful thing is that if we truly repent, He will NEVER let those particular sins โ€˜riseโ€™ to hold them against us ever again.

WHY REPENTANCE DOESN’T MEAN YOU WON’T THINK ABOUT IT OR WANT IT ANYMORE…

I hope this short piece sets someone free of their guilt.

Repentance DOESN’T mean that you’ll never think of your sin anymore.

But, it DOES mean that you won’t linger on those thoughts when they enter your mind.

Repentance DOESN’T meant that you won’t desire the sin anymore…Because the enemy will continue to use any temptation or weakness to provoke you to backslide.

Repentance DOES mean that you WILL NOT PUT YOURSELF to hard testing by tempting yourself from that which you’ve turned away. You won’t intentionally put yourself in the position to do it again.

Repentance DOES mean that you have Godly sorrow and regret of your sin…it DOESN’T mean you don’t remember it.

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 (NKJV)

Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

If you’ve totally rejected your sin and you’re doing everything else to avoid it…that’s repentance.

If you don’t want it to be a pleasant memory anymore…that’s repentance.

If you ‘don’t want to want it’ anymore…that’s repentance.

But, just the way that the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, and though he fled, the bible said he would return at an opportune moment…

Luke 4:13 (NKJV)

13 Now when the devil had ended every [a]temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.

Jesus was tempted in all points just like us…

Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV)

1For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Jesus understands. Yield not to temptation, and…

Through time, it will become less and less of a temptation.

Repentance DOES mean you’ve turned away from the sin, it DOES mean the sin has turned away from you.

As the song says, “Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin. Each victory will help you some other to win”.

God can help you get to the point that is isn’t a temptation anymore.

WHY WE SHOULD LEARN TO REST IN PEACE BEFORE WE DIE…

wp-image-312093396

Psalm 127:2 (NKJV)

It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep.

Are you tired? You went to bed. You had time away from work, but youโ€™re still tired? Is your mind always racing? Are you either trying to get ahead? Stay ahead? Or, catch up? Maybe youโ€™re just trying to hold it together.

So many of us our so busy. So many of us are either worried, stressed or obsessed.

Then what do we say when someone transitions from this lifeโ€ฆโ€Rest in Peace!โ€

I want to encourage you today to learn to rest in peace BEFORE you die!

One of the enemyโ€™s greatest manipulations is to keep us spiritually weak because we donโ€™t rest. He wants us too tired to read and study Godโ€™s word. He wants us too tired to take the time to pray before we eat our food, before we go to bed at night. He wants us too tired to go to worship.

How many times have you said, โ€œIโ€™m not going to church todayโ€ฆIโ€™m too tired!โ€

Rest is so important to God that He commanded we rest one day every week (Exodus 20:10). He told us to do no work! But, Iโ€™ve noticed that in some church cultures people will go to morning worship, then they will leave and go to another church and worship having whatโ€™s called โ€˜afternoon servicesโ€™ or โ€˜special daysโ€™โ€ฆ.Menโ€™s Day, Womenโ€™s Day etc.  Then some will even have another service in the evening.

Just as much as it is Godโ€™s will that we donโ€™t forsake the assembling of ourselves together and that we worship regularly, itโ€™s not His will for us to spend all day in church to the point that we donโ€™t rest at all. That is establishing our own righteousness (Romans 10:3).

I have to admit when it comes to not getting enough rest. Iโ€™m guilty. Iโ€™m guilty of sometimes letting lifeโ€™s problems weigh too heavy on my mind. Iโ€™m guilty of not stopping to just do nothing and rest my mind, body and spirit

I encourage you to learn to rest in peace before you die. Learn to rest your body. Learn to rest your mind. Learn to rest you spirit. Learn to refresh yourself in Godโ€™s word and prayer. Learn to say NO. Learn to say I canโ€™t do that. Learn to say I need some time to myself. Think of how Jesus would withdraw to Himself (Luke 5:16).

The Lord has promised to help us with our โ€˜rest problemโ€ฆโ€™

Matthew 11:28New King James Version (NKJV)

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Learn to get yourself some rest because if you donโ€™tโ€ฆyouโ€™re being disobedient.

WHEN IT MAKES NO SENSE TO BE A ‘NO-NONSENSE LEADER…

Many people have a distorted perspective of strength and leadership. Unfortunately, some equate being hard, unyielding, and difficult to strong leadership and assertiveness. In fact, many of the attributes that define God’s spirit and character are considered by many to be weakness…

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

James 3:17 (NKJV)

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Oftentimes, leaders will pride themselves on being ‘NO-NONSENSE’ making assertions such as…

“People know better than to come to me with foolishness!”

“I can’t stand and will not tolerate incompetence!”

“Your emergency isn’t my problem!”

Many even brag that, “My people don’t like me!”

The truth is that every NO-NONSENSE leader is sometimes guilty of NONSENSE themselves.

They too need compassion.

They too need grace.

An unapproachable leader limits his or her ability to lead if people are afraid to come to them with mistakes or problems trying to avoid ‘their wrath’.

Limits are placed on leadership when people are afraid to tell the truth.

When people are afraid to come to you with their mistakes, they hide problems and even protect themselves with lies…setting up a ‘time bomb’ that will definitely explode in the future.

An unapproachable leader is the main ingredient in the recipe for a toxic culture, denying himself or herself of vital information because people don’t feel comfortable being honest about what they’ve done or how they feel.

Real servant leadership isn’t about daily feeding one’s ego and reputation, but making those whom you serve feel comfortable enough to come to you with their NONSENSE.

From president to principle to pastor to parent…it makes no sense to be no-nonsense.
