IF YOUโ€™RE ANGRY ENOUGH TO INSULT SOMEONE, YOUโ€™RE ANGRY ENOUGH TO KILL THEM…

20180215_1813211519995663.jpg

Social media gives everyone to instantly vent their frustrations and anger. They quickly give their opinion on, well everything and everyone.

Just scroll the the comments on a controversial post on your choice of social media.

People are working one another into a frenzy with their rants. And if you by chance don’t agree withthem or if you’re on the other side of the arguement, debate, issue, then you are a…

Blankity blankin’ *@!*!!#!!!!!!

And, many of these people claim to be disciples of Christ.

We have got to learn to disagree without insults because that same anger, that provoked you to insult…

Is the same anger that can provoke you, yes you, to kill.

But, I didn’t just come up with that, Jesus did…

Matthew 5:21-22 (NKJV)
21 โ€œYou have heard that it was said to those of old, โ€˜You shall not murder,[a] and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.โ€™ 22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause[b] shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, โ€˜Raca!โ€™ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, โ€˜You fool!โ€™ shall be in danger of hell fire.

My friends, and those who don’t consider yourself my friend…

We have got to learn to disagree without insults.

So, when you see, or hear insults being hurled around vocally or in the cyber world.

Don’t let your anger draw you into the dissipation. Let God’s Spirit abide and rule inside you. Speak or type peace into the situation…the environment…the post, and even your family or relationships.

You honestly may save a life, or even better…save a soul.

Matthew 5:9 (NKJV)

9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.

ALLOW ME TO SHARE MY ‘OBJECT’ LESSON IN FAITH…

wp-1475937499814.jpgwp-1475938449890.jpg

I reaaalllyyy enjoy riding my bicycle. God allowed me to be taken off blood pressure medicine, and biking has helped me control it for the past several years. One evening a few years ago after I arrived home from the office, I asked my boys if either of them had ridden my bike because it wasn’t in the garage. The garage door had been left open the night before. They both said no sir. About the same time my neighbor was in front of her house, and I noticed that her SUV was not in her driveway. She informed me that some individuals went through our neighborhood checking for ‘soft’ targets…she had left her car unlocked. I went in the house and told my wife, “Well, I will never see that bike again… $600 bucks down the drain.”

I then called the sheriff’s department to report the theft. They sent out an officer and I filled out the report. Less than an hour later I got a call from the sheriff’s department asking me to describe my bike! They found it…Across town…In the back of my neighbor’s SUV! Wow! They said it wasn’t damaged! Look at God!

Three guys from across town worked our neighborhood. Even though my WORDS showed no faith, my ACTIONS of reporting the theft and filling out the report were FAITH IN ACTION. I got my bike back that night, brought to me by an officer who lived in my neighborhood…it was undamaged. My neighbor didnโ€™t get her truck back for over a month, and it had damage.

God used an OBJECT, my bike to give me an OBJECT LESSON in faith.

Jesus teaches us that we can move mountains with our faith in Him…

Matthew 17: 20-21

20 So Jesus said to them, โ€œBecause of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, โ€˜Move from here to there,โ€™ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.โ€

When things seem impossible, never loose your faith. And, please do better than me, let your WORDS agree with your ACTIONS.

WHEN AN INSULT ISN’T AN INSULT…

wp-1479908081172.jpg

Matthew 15:7-12ย  (NKJV)

7ย Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:ย 8ย โ€˜These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And[a]ย honor Me withย theirย lips,
But their heart is far from Me.

9ย And in vain they worship Me,
Teachingย asย doctrines the commandments of men.โ€™ โ€[b]

10ย When He had called the multitude toย Himself,ย He said to them,ย โ€œHear and understand:ย 11ย Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.โ€

12ย Then His disciples came and said to Him, โ€œDo You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?โ€

Jesus called the religious leaders โ€œHypocritesโ€, which was a pretty significant insult in that time. So much so, that His disciples called Him to the side and said in today’s terms… โ€œUhhh, you know you pissed them off right?โ€

But, Jesus didnโ€™t say it to make them angry. Jesus didnโ€™t say it to insult them. He didnโ€™t say it to hurt them, He said it to help them, and help us too.

Jesus didn’t insult them, but they were insulted. But, many times we all are when we are confronted with truth about ourselves…we sometimes naturally get defensive.

Even today, truth is a viable defense when accused of defamation. If it’s true, it’s not libel or slander…and what Jesus said about them is true.

But, we should only say something BAD to or about someone if there is some GOOD to come out of it.

We should only say something bad to or about someone with an intention to help them and not hurt them.

It should be our intention for them, or those who hear it be better. It should be our intention, help them submit to God’s will, His word…His standards.

Jesus also proved you should never say anything about someone who you would not say to their face.

If Jesus had called them hypocrites to hurt or embarrass them, it would have been wrong.

If Jesus had called them hypocrites when they weren’t present to belittle them, it would have been wrong.

But, Jesus never sinned, so we know He wasn’t wrong. We know His intentions. But even when you have good intentions, it doesn’t mean that people won’t be insulted.

The same goes with us today. We should be willing to give and accept constructive criticism, so we can grow and mature in the LORD…that’s when an insult isn’t an insult.

We should pray the discernment to determine when to be loving and when to be sharp.

How many times have you sincerely told someone something to help them and they were insulted? When was the last time someone told you something to help you and it was insulting?

It doesn’t even have to be as sharp as calling them a hypocrite.

“You are unorganized”

“You are lazy”

“You are selfish”

“You’re too promiscuous”

“You’re too loud”

“You’re too insensitive”

“You’re too sensitive”

“You don’t listen”

“You’re too wasteful”

“You’re a bully”

“You’re too timid”

“You are a coward”

You are intimidating”

And the list goes on and on.

Has anyone said any of the statements to you before? Have you ever said any of them to anyone?

It’s WHY it was said that determines whether or not is an insult.

Now, most people who are confronted with something that needs to change about themselves will initially be insulted. But, much of our growth comes from that uncomfortable moment of truth and self-examination.

When Jesus called the religious leaders hypocrites, it was His intention for them to acknowledge it, repent and grow.

So the next time that someone, ‘insults’ you, even if they meant to hurt you, ask yourself, “Is this true about me”?

Even if they meant to insult you, if it’s true, you can take what was meant for evil and turn it into good. You can turn what could have been bad fruit into good fruit.

Genesis 50:20ย  (NKJV)

20ย But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

DO YOU NEED TO APOLOGIZE AGAIN, THIS TIME BECAUSE YOU MEAN IT…

picsart_02-14-092067838167.pngIโ€™m pretty sure we have all done this. You may be in this situation right now. You said or did someone and you know you were wrong. You told them youโ€™re sorry and youโ€™re ready to move on. But you may need to go back and apologize again…

Why?

HOW did you say, โ€œIโ€™m sorry?โ€

Did they tell you, โ€œYou owe me an apology!โ€ and you angrily and grudgingly snap back, โ€œIโ€™m sorry!โ€

Did you tell them you were sorry just to shut them up from nagging youโ€ฆ wanting them to drop it?

Did you tell them you were sorry only to demand of them to get over it and move on?

Did you tell them you were sorry because you know God expects it, but you really didnโ€™t mean it?

Did you tell them you were sorry because you just didnโ€™t want them to be upset?

Did you tell them you were sorry because you didnโ€™t want them to treat you differently?

Did you tell them with a sticky note, text or email?

Did you tell someone else to tell them for you?

Or,

Did you tell them you were sorry because you had true remorse, regret, contrition, shame and sorrow for hurting them?

Remember thisโ€ฆ

Thereโ€™s a difference between saying, โ€œIโ€™m sorryโ€, and a true apology.

Notice that even God doesnโ€™t necessarily ask us to tell Him we are sorry, but He does require Godly sorrow and repentanceโ€ฆ

2 Corinthians 7:10ย (NKJV)

10ย For godly sorrow produces repentanceย leadingย to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

A true apology comes from the heart and not just from the mouth.

When we are truly sorry, we want the person to feel that it hurt us that we hurt them. And, when we are truly sorry our continued behavior reflects that apology, even if they have a human moment in bringing that hurt back up again.

Think about it. Do you need to apologize to someone again? Yes, you said you were sorry, but maybe, just maybe, you didnโ€™t really โ€˜apologizeโ€™.

And, when you are on the receiving end of an apology, pleaseย BE EASY TO APOLOGIZE TOโ€ฆย because sometimes accepting a harsh, so-called, insincere apology with grace and humility can soften their heart. Thatโ€™s the power of Godโ€™s love. Think about the times you’ve had to apologize remembering…

It takes just as much humility and love to extend a sincere apology as it does to accept it.

DONโ€™T FORGET TO ENJOY LIFE BETWEEN YOUR โ€˜DEADLINESโ€™โ€ฆ

picsart_02-13-04119768405.jpg

Much of my job is based on meeting deadlines. Through that Iโ€™ve noticed something that you may have noticed too. When youโ€™re working towards a deadline, you sometimes donโ€™t notice the days between that deadline When the project is completed, I find myself saying, โ€œWow, this week went by fast!โ€

Even on a personal level, setting goals and giving oneself deadlines is important to being what many call โ€˜successfulโ€™.

Whether it be deadlines, goals, hopes or dreams. Donโ€™t forget to live and enjoy each day as you work towards them.

For example, you may be in your early 30โ€™s and have a certain goal you want to achieve by the age of 40. Donโ€™t be so focused on your goal that when you reach 40 you look back and say, โ€œWhat happened to my 30sโ€ โ€“ whether you reach that goal or not.

Life is short enough without making it seem shorter trying to get to the future. Many people spend their 8am trying to get to 5pm (guilty). They spend Monday trying to get to Friday. They spend January trying to get to December. They spend their 20โ€™s trying to get to their 30โ€™s.

Many spend their work days trying to get to holidays and vacation. They spend their days trying to get to the day their car or mortgage is paid off. Many are trying to get to the carefree days of retirement.

DON’T MISS THE PRESENT TRYING TO GET TO THE FUTURE

Get there, but enjoy the days in between.

Itโ€™s always good to remember that tomorrow is not promisedโ€ฆ

ย Matthew 6:34ย  (NKJV)

34ย Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the dayย isย its own trouble.

That being said, donโ€™t let working for your tomorrows, allow you to miss out on your todays. Let this be your declaration every dayโ€ฆ

Psalm 118:24ย  (NKJV)

24ย Thisย isย the day theย Lordย has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

GOD DOESN’T HAVE TO CHOOSE SIDES…WE DO!

wp-1482243188777.jpg

It’s interesting how many people quickly claim, “God’s on my side!”

Sometimes it’s people (or on a larger scale denominations) on both sides of an argument, issue, situation…how is God on everyone’s side?

Many times people will go through the bible, selfishlyย  hand picking scriptures out of contextย  to prove their point. This is reading or using the bible carnally.

God promises TO BE WITH US, as made perfectly clear in…

Romans 8-28-38. Verse 31 asks rhetorically, “If God is FOR US, who can be against us?”ย

But notice verse 28 says all things work for the good of those who are “CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE”.

Yes, God is with us, but God is WITH US when we are on HIS SIDE.

In John 15:16, Jesus tells us, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”

Jesus told us no one can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). When Jesus died on the cross and arose from the dead, all power in heaven and earth was placed in Him

( Matthew 28:18)…it’s HIS SIDE because He paid for it with His blood.

When we accept the call of God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we are ON HIS SIDE, so if we are on His side, then by default He’s with us….our battles become His battles as God told Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:15.

Notice when David slew Goliath, Davidย  wasn’t about proving how mighty he was, but he was standing for God and His armies. (1 Samuel 17:45)ย

We are on HIS SIDE and, it’s our responsibility to be in harmony with His truth. Issues, situations, disputes and disagreements are much bigger than whether or not we are ‘RIGHT’ or ‘WRONG’.

We can easily get caught up in trying to prove we’re ‘RIGHT’, or someone else other group is WRONG, rather than be in harmony with God’s truth. We as individuals and groups can get caught up in being more concerned with what we want to believe, and our preferred view of the bible, which becomes a static doctrine that we feel compelled defend rather than trying to defend our faith and be in harmony with God’s truth.

That’s how you can tell who is in harmony with God’s truth when two people or groups are looking at the same scripture with two points of view…which person or group is removing how THEY WANT TO see it and their own will out of the way and is only seeking God’s point of view and His will. So, let’s be careful how we loosely throw around, “God’s on my side”, and strive to always be on His.

NOW HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS!

When you are on God’s side…walking in His Spirit…living according to His will…

HE IS ON YOUR SIDE!

Psalm 118:6ย ย (NKJV)

6ย Theย Lordย isย on my side;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?

DON’T ASK GOD TO LEAVE TO INVITE IN A DEMON (Short & to the Point)…

wp-1486577551293.jpg

Temptation, no matter what kind, is a demon asking to come into your house, your ‘temple of God’ (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Giving in is just like saying, “Welcome, come on in, God can you please step out, I’ve got company”.

Don’t ask God to leave so a devil can come in. Most of the time the demon is looking for a place for him and his friends to hang out, in fact they want to move in.

Walk in the Spirit, put on the whole armor of God and keep the devil out.

Don’t ask God to leave to a demon to come in. Once they get comfortable in your house, most of the time, it’s not very easy to get them to leave.

Matthew 12:43-45 (NKJV)

43 โ€œWhen an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, โ€˜I will return to my house from which I came.โ€™ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.โ€

Galatians 5:16-24

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.

WATCH OUT FOR SPIRITUAL FOOD POISONING…

wp-1474419570836.png

It’s happened to most of us. You suddenly feel your muscles ache, fever, stomach ache and nausea…you have FOOD POISONING. Something you ate, something that was supposed to nourish you made you sick. Something that was supposed to give you strength made you weak, something that was supposed to help your body…hurt it.

Sometimes something can look delicious, smell delicious and taste delicious and still be deadly. Salmonella, Botulism, Listeria are just a few are bacteria that make good food toxic. They infect what’s good….You have fever, stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea because your body is trying to get rid of it. Your muscles ache making you weak and unfit for work.

The same is true with the WORD OF GOD.

THE WORD IS MEANT TO NOURISH YOU…

1 Peter 2:2 (ESV)

Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvationโ€”

THE WORD IS MEANT TO GIVE YOU STRENGTH AND INCREASE YOUR FAITH…

Romans 10:17 (ESV)

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

THE WORD IS MEANT TO BUILD YOUR SPIRITUAL HOUSE AND THE BODY OF CHRIST

ย Ephesians 4:11-12

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

But, sometimes the Body of Christ can get SPIRITUAL FOOD POISONING…

ย 1 Timothy 4:1

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

Demons are like spiritual bacteria that want to infect you and the Body of Christ. Their goal is to deceive and pervert the teaching and preaching of God’s word. They influence the ‘message’ to come from flesh instead of spirit. They want to infect the word so that it’s carnal instead of spiritual…and it can be very subtle:

For example, many people have learned to give selfishly. They have been taught ONLY to give so they can receive a blessing. Not, out of love…Not, out of obedience…Not, out of concern for others…but so they can be blessed. Give so you can get! Yes, God is willing to pour out blessings that we don’t have room to receive, but if that’s the only reason we give, that reducing giving to a ‘blessing bill”.

Be careful when the word of God is cloaked in carnality, sometimes it’s unintentional – but most of the time it isn’t. Watch out when the message contains…

Too much prosperity

Too much condemnation

Too little bible

Too much personal opinion

Too much tradition of man

Lies

Hypocrisy

Selfishness

Racial Pride

Idolatry

Blasphemy (Some preachers actually want you to worship them, or yourselves)

Or, when it elicits emotions from flesh…for example, if it makes excuse for or justifies sin or causes you to take pride in the way you used to be. I have heard preachers say, “I haven’t been saved all my life” in an arrogant way that eludes to the fact that they can revert back to their old behavior, or in other words, ‘let the old become new again’

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

We have to read and study God’s word for ourselves and pray for discernment, so we can intelligently and responsibly listen to the word of God. Just like food poisoning, it can be disguised in eloquent words, charisma, elaborate presentation, engaging personality etc. It can sound good, look good and make you feel good, but it’s got to be in line with the bible and not twisted to fit a human agenda.

Spiritual food poisoning makes the Christian and Body of Christ weak, ineffective, unproductive and unfit for Kingdom work. It makes the Body of Christ sick. It actually does more harm than good…and it takes place in church.

The old adage that you are what you eat is true. It doesn’t just apply to allowing worldly influences to enter your spirit…but just as the bible says that the devil disguises himself as an angle of light…

2 Corinthians 11:14 (ESV)

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

The enemy doesn’t mind you going to church or hearing the word, as long as he can come along and twist it….infect it and poison your spiritual food.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THINGS YOU HATE ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE…

wp-1490505260416.jpg

Relationships make our lives richerโ€ฆ.better. God created us because He wanted relationship with us.

As our relationships evolve, whether it be marriage, parent/child, siblings or friends…we are also all evolving as individuals.

For example, If you’ve been married any number of years, then neither of you are the same people you were when you first married.

The truth is some things get better, and some things don’t.

There will always be some things, attitudes, behaviors, moods, etc., that you hateย about those who you love most….it doesn’t mean you hate them.

In fact, daily living and lovingย beyond those things is what makes it love.

Think about God…do you think He is always pleased with you?

Are there ways He is still expecting you to change?

Even at our best, we donโ€™t measure up go Godโ€™s level of righteousnessโ€ฆ

Isaiah 64:6 (NKJV)

ย But we are all like an unclean thing,And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;ย We all fade as a leaf,ย And our iniquities, like the wind,ย Have taken us away.

Itโ€™s only through Godโ€™s abundant grace and mercy that we are able to be in His Holy presence.

Thatโ€™s why His gift of justification is so valuable, and should never be taken for granted. Even though we are unrighteousโ€ฆthrough the blood of our Lord Jesus, we are โ€˜counted as righteousโ€™.

Romans 3:23-25 (NKJV)

23ย for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24ย being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25ย whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,

Just as we donโ€™t measure up to Godโ€™s standardโ€ฆWe disappoint each otherย because at times donโ€™t measure up to one another’s expectationsโ€ฆwhether reasonable or unreasonable.

Just as we continue to disappoint God in our individual relationships with Him, we will continue to disappoint one another in our relationships with each other.

As years go by, even though we grow to know one another better, there will still be things about each other that โ€˜drive us up the wallโ€™…things that ‘drive us crazy’.

Think about some things that you hate about those people who are closest to you.

Does it mean that your relationship is flawed?

Well, yes it doesโ€ฆbut so is your relationship with God.

But, just as God loves us through our flaws, He expects us to love one another through ours as well.

So, the next time your notice your husbandโ€ฆwifeโ€ฆparentโ€ฆsisterโ€ฆbrotherโ€ฆfriend doing something you donโ€™t like…or even hate, after all these years rememberโ€ฆ

Theirs something they canโ€™t stand about you, and…

It makes your relationship normalโ€ฆnot over.

Love each other through it, just as God loves you.

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV)

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

If this blessed you, please follow my blog…

DON’T LET THE PASSION IN YOUR PRAYER BECOME DISRESPECT…

I once heard a preacher erroneously teach Hebrews Chapter 4 verse 16…

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)ย

16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

He said in essence that we are to approach God ‘boldly’, even saying, “Do it right now Lord!”

Uhhh…No!

As you already know, it simply means we have direct access to God (Yah), through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Yeshua).

It does NOT give us permission to tell God what to do.

Even though we don’t have to always be on our knees when we pray YOUโ€™RE ALWAYS IN POSITION TO PRAY/ 9 PROPER POSTURES (REBOOT)โ€ฆ, We do always have approach God with a humble spirit.

Look at how Jesus Himself fell on His face in the garden…

Matthew 26:39 (NKJV)

39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, โ€œO My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.โ€

So, please be careful! It’s easy to allow the passion of our desires, our confidence in Him, the urgency of our need, and especially during worship to allow ‘the intensity of the moment and worship experience or the charisma of the ‘leader’ to turn our prayer into a bold demand on God to meet our expectations when and how we’re ready.

Even in the lamenting Psalms such as Numbers 3,4,5,7,12 13, 14, 17, 22, 25, 44, 126, or 129 ( there are many others, I suggest you do a study of them if you haven’t already) God is teaching us through how to lament, and express our ‘disappointment’ in and ‘impatience’ with God in reverence and respect.

Prayer is a beautiful privilege of being a child of God, but we must remember that that’s just what it is…a privilege.

Let us not give those with authority over us in our lives more respect than we give God.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

HEY! WHERE’D THAT PEACE COME FROM?

wp-1492012549172.

God always answers prayerโ€ฆand usually it comes suddenly.

There have been times I was greatly troubled to the point that found it difficult to enjoy anything else.

Even in a happy moment, I might laugh… and then rushing to the front of my mind comes the thought..

โ€œREMEMBER ME!!!โ€ Iโ€™m your trouble and I havenโ€™t gone ANYWHERE!!!

In the midst of this trouble I pray to God for peace, which doesnโ€™t always come immediately. As I continue in prayer,

I consider my troubling situations.

I think of how good God is to me, EVEN with the trouble Iโ€™m experiencing.

I think of all of the things that COULD go wrongโ€ฆthat havenโ€™t.

I think of ALL of the things God has ALREADY brought me through.

Thatโ€™s when I stop and thank Him for just for being Godโ€ฆfor His unfailing love, even when mine failsโ€ฆfor His faithfulness even when Iโ€™m unfaithful to Him. And, I realize, what does God get out of being faithful to me? Thank you Lord!

Then it happens…suddenly. Like the SON breaking through the cloud of my troubles!Yes, Iโ€™m sitting here thinking about my troubleโ€ฆand I notice it. I find myself saying…

“Hey! Where did that peace come from?!”

God has poured His peace into my heart, and even though my trouble is still there. Even though Iโ€™m thinking about itโ€ฆI feel at peace.

Peace is one of Godโ€™s awesome promises. He will give it to us.

If we PRAYโ€ฆjust ask Him.

If weโ€™re PERSISTENTโ€ฆcontinue to ask Him.

If weโ€™re PATIENTโ€ฆThey that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength (another promise) Isaiah 40:31.

If we PRAISEโ€ฆContinue to thank God and praise Him while you wait.

Then suddenly, out of  nowhere. When you least expect it, but most need itโ€ฆHe will give you His PEACE.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV)

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

So, to answer my own question…”Hey! Where’d that peace come from?!”

It came from PRAYER, PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE & PRAISE…

IF YOU FEEL THAT GOD HAS FORGOTTEN YOU…

wp-1495056731993.

Have you ever made Him feel youโ€™ve forgotten Him?

How many times have you started your day without saying, โ€œGood Morningโ€?

How many meals or snacks have you eaten without saying, โ€œThank youโ€?

Have you gone a day without โ€˜callingโ€™?

Have often do you check what Heโ€™s โ€˜postedโ€™ in His ‘HOLY MEDIA’?

How many times has He tried to get your attention and you responded, โ€œNot Now!โ€

How many times have you asked Him to leave โ€˜your houseโ€™ and invited the devil in?

Even when youโ€™re diligently seeking Him, He sometimes may seem far awayโ€ฆ because no matter how close you may THINK you are to Him, you can still be closer.

No matter how much faith you THINK you haveโ€ฆwe all still have some unbelief.

Remember thisโ€ฆ

Every person used by God in the bible at some time felt forsakenโ€ฆincluding His Son.

Matthew 27:46 (NKJV)

46ย And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,ย โ€œEli, Eli, lama sabachthani?โ€ that is, โ€œMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?โ€

If you feel God has forsaken or forgotten you, read Psalm 13. Notice how it begins in sorrow, but ends in an affirmation of trust and praise…That’s why He seems far away sometimes. So we can follow even closer behind Him.

Psalm 13 (NKJV)

13ย How long, Oย Lord? Will You forget me forever?

How long will You hide Your face from me?
2ย How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Havingย sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

3ย Considerย andย hear me, Oย Lordย my God;
Enlighten my eyes,
Lest I sleep theย sleep ofย death;
4ย Lest my enemy say,
โ€œI have prevailed against himโ€;
Lestย those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

5ย But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
6ย I will sing to theย Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

MAYBE GOD HAS SOME DOORS CLOSED FOR A REASON…

Doors…They provide access. They allow us to enter one environment while at the same time exit another. When closed, they keep things in and keep things out. We all want God to open doors for us to better things. We may even pray for God to open doors for us. Doors lead to the things we desire…

One day a man had to hurry in the bank before he picked up his daughter from school. He didn’t go to the bank his normal bank location because he decided to stop at the one closest to his daughter’s school. At 2:45 as he pulled up and read the sign on the door that said, “Open 8:30 – 5:00”. He pulled to open the door, and it was locked. He pulled again, and again. As he looked through the glass and through the lobby he could see the tellers behind the counter and became angry. “What are they doing?” “Bankers make me sick!” “They know it’s just 2:45!” ย “They see me out here!” Furious, he now shook the door violently. “Let me in you lazy…!” Suddenly, he saw someone come to the door and he began lecturing the employee as he rushed into the building when he noticed the employee locking the door back and felt someone aggressively grab his arm. The bank was being robbed!!! His daughter stood waiting for an hour before her horrified mother picked her up as they waited and hoped for hostages to be released.

We need to remember that some doors God has closed for a reason.ย

Some things you have your heart to do, some places you have your heart set to go, some people you have your heart set on, some jobs you have your heart set on, some loans you hope to get, even some things you sincerely want to do for God…are not meant for you.

Some things we want aren’t His will for us. 1 Chronicles 22:7,ย David states that it is in his heart to build a house for God, but that wasn’t God’s will for David. Acts 16:6,ย the Holy Spirit prevents Paul and his companions from going to Asia.

Sometimes people denying you access, ignoring your resume, ignoring your text messages is God keeping you from something that’s not for you. Sometimes people ignoring your gifts or choosing someone not as gifted is God’s way of getting you to move on to where you are meant to be.

We need to be very careful when we find ourselves trying to unlock and force our way into doors that God may have shut for a reason.

THE UNHOLINESS OF HAZING: TRADITIONS FROM HELL…

wp-1486060420485.jpg

If God makes it so easy to join His organization (Romans 10:9), why do we make it so hard to join some of ours?

I was watching a television show in which a young lady hoping to join a prestigious college band was beaten into intensive care during her initiation, and it was swept under the rug and defended by those in authority to protect their tradition.

I’ve heard many comment and reason that such behavior is just ‘part of the process’…that some initiations and inductions are just ‘part of growing up’.

I’ve heard that enduring this foolishness with others breeds loyalty, brotherhood/sisterhood, comradery, etc.

Some of these organizations claim to be Christians organizations.

Now, I’m sure some of you reading will defend it out of loyalty to your own beloved organizations and traditions, but if you’re a Christian…if you know God’s word…if you know the character and culture of His Kingdom…and if you’re honest with yourself, you know it’s not of God and makes no sense. You know that some of the activities people are forced to participate in are clearly not Godly.

If it’s not of God, then it’s of the devil…

If it’s of the devil, then it’s straight from Hell.

How do I know it’s not of God?

Because God made joining His organization EASY for us!

It’s interesting how so many organizations, teams, clubs etc. make it so DIFFICULT to join…initiations, rituals, rites of passage, hazing, traditions…while, God makes it so EASY!

Romans 10:9 (NKJV)

ย 9ย that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.ย

The Body of Christ, His church is the most important and prestigious ‘organization’ of this earth and beyond.

The benefits of membership are eternal…

Yet, God makes it so easy to become part of His family.

But,

So many earthly organizations feel it’s such an honor to be inducted into their ranks that some have even died trying to get in. When you think about it…it’s quite absurd that people have shed blood to join some groups but…

Yeshua, Jesus Christ, paid the price of our admission to His church with His blood…

ย Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

But Heย wasย wounded for our transgressions,He wasย bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peaceย was upon Him,ย And by His stripes we are healed.

One of Jesus’ greatest battles was against foolish, senseless tradition (Matthew 15:1-20).

Matthew 15:1-20ย (NKJV)

Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying,ย 2ย โ€œWhy do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.โ€

3ย He answered and said to them,ย โ€œWhy do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?ย 4ย For God commanded, saying, โ€˜Honor your father and your motherโ€™;ย [a]ย and, โ€˜He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.โ€™[b]ย 5ย But you say, โ€˜Whoever says to his father or mother, โ€œWhatever profit you might have received from meย isย a giftย to Godโ€โ€”ย 6ย then he need not honor his father or mother.โ€™[c]ย Thus you have made the commandment[d]ย of God of no effect by your tradition.ย 7ย Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8ย โ€˜These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And[e]ย honor Me withย theirย lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9ย And in vain they worship Me,
Teachingย asย doctrines the commandments of men.โ€™ โ€[f]

10ย When He had called the multitude toย Himself,ย He said to them,ย โ€œHear and understand:ย 11ย Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.โ€

12ย Then His disciples came and said to Him, โ€œDo You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?โ€

13ย But He answered and said,ย โ€œEvery plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.ย 14ย Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.โ€

15ย Then Peter answered and said to Him, โ€œExplain this parable to us.โ€

16ย So Jesus said,ย โ€œAre you also still without understanding?ย 17ย Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated?ย 18ย But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.ย 19ย For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.ย 20ย These areย the thingsย which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.โ€

No organization on earth supersedes God’s and should never be no more difficult to become a part of than His church.

Even though some have even perverted and complicated โ€˜membershipโ€™ in His church, that was never His intention.

When any organization makes potential members submit themselves to violence, vulgar and profane language, embarrassment and possible harm as conditions of joiningโ€ฆthose activities are not of God.

This is not an indictment on all organizations that require some sort of ‘proving grounds’, but when it crosses God’s line, it’s gone too far.

Don’t get caught up trying to hold onto, defend and condone traditions from Hell.

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD, BUT…

wp-1484133712825.jpg

Many times we encourage one another by saying, “You can do anything you set your mind to do, as long as you have faith.”
Yes, it’s true that through God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26), because God can do anything He chooses through anyone He chooses.
BUT…
Some the things that you want to do, even for God, it may not be His will for YOU to do them.
You may have a desire to have a virgin birth, and yes with God it’s possible, but that doesn’t mean it’s His will for you to do it.
David had a desire to build a house for God, but God told Him it was His will for his son Solomon to build it…
1 Chronicles 22:7-8
7 And David said to Solomon: โ€œMy son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the Lord my God; 8 but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, โ€˜You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. It is our responsibility to find out what God’s will is for us and the things He would have us do…but how do you know?ย
Ephesians 5:12 tells us to “find out what’s acceptable to the Lord.”
Proverbs 3:4-5 tells us Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Be sensitive to His Spirit and where He is leading you. In Acts 16 the Holy Spirit prevented the apostles from going some places that they desired to go preach.
“6 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.”
God has a will and purpose for each of His children, and we must pray for wisdom, understanding, discernment and revelation for God to show us those things He would have us to do.
I pray in the name of Jesus, Yeshua, that God reveals to you your purpose and your path.

GIVE PEOPLE TIME TO CHANGE…

wp-1489062140325.jpg

Sometimes we can get frustrated when we share Godโ€™s truth or fresh revelation and people donโ€™t respond the way we had hoped.

They may respond negativelyโ€ฆ

They may even tell you that they donโ€™t want to hear itโ€ฆ

They may tell you that youโ€™re confusedโ€ฆ

They may tell you that they just arenโ€™t ready to changeโ€ฆ

Once you plant a seed, you canโ€™t force it to growโ€ฆWe plant and water, but God gives the increase.

1 Corinthians 3:6-8 (NKJV)

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7ย So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

We must rememberโ€ฆwe didnโ€™t always immediate agree with everything we heard concerning God the first time.

We didnโ€™t immediately take heed to every bit of good, sound spiritual advice we received.

We didnโ€™t immediately stop sinful practices when someone warned us.

There were seeds planted in all of us that took some time to grow.

There were habits, behaviors and attitudes that we had to work through.

There were difficult truths that we werenโ€™t immediately willing to acceptโ€ฆ

In fact, there are still some spiritual truths that we have not yet accepted. Just because we havenโ€™t accepted it yet doesnโ€™t prevent it from being Godโ€™s truth.

Pray for an ear, heart, mind and attitude that you can be good soil for the good seed thatโ€™s planted in you as in the Parable of the Sower

Matthew 13:18-23 (NKJV)

ย 18ย โ€œTherefore hear the parable of the sower: 19ย When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20ย But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21ย yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22ย Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23ย But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.โ€

Be patient when you share the word of God, or give spiritual advice to othersโ€ฆ

Think about the fact that when Jesus was in His human form, his biological brothers (Maryโ€™s other sons) did not believe in Himโ€ฆ

John 7:18 (NKJV)

ย 3ย His brothers therefore said to Him, โ€œDepart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing. 4ย For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.โ€ 5ย For even His brothers did not believe in Him.

BUT,

Eventually they did believe. In fact, the letters of Jude and James are now part of the New Testament.

Give people time to change.

PRAISING GOD IN PUBLIC: I’DE RATHER LOOK CRAZY THAN GO CRAZY…

The older I get, the more I learn the value of praise. Not only does it make you feel so much closer to God, but it releases so much power into your life. Have you ever noticed what King Jehoshaphat did when they were outnumbered in battle in 1 Chronicles Chapter 20?

2 Chronicles 20:21-22ย  (NKJV)

21ย And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to theย Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

โ€œPraise theย Lord,
For His mercyย enduresย forever.โ€[a]

22ย Now when they began to sing and to praise, theย Lordย set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.

The tribe of Judah, (which of course means praise) was sent into battle singing praise to God. I like to call it the โ€˜battle cry of praiseโ€™โ€ฆ

โ€œPraise the LORDโ€,

For His mercy endures forever.โ€

God gave them the victory, and the weapon was praise. They didnโ€™t whisper a prayer silently, before the battle, which they could have done. They gave a very loud and public praise which served as a testimony to everyone who witnessed it.

Iโ€™ve learned to not be ashamed to praise God in public. Iโ€™ve learned to not be concerned with what people think. After all, people arenโ€™t concerned what people think when they have public displays of affection in public with their loved ones. Iโ€™m not talking about disrespectful displays, but simply holding hands or hugging.

So, we shouldnโ€™t be ashamed to lift up our hands and give God a HOLY HUGโ€ฆ

1 Timothy 2:8ย  (NKJV)

8ย I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;

And, remember David was so excited over the return of the Ark of the Covenant, that he danced until his clothes came off, embarrassing his wife…

2 Samuel 6:20-22ย  (NKJV)

20ย Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, โ€œHow glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!โ€ย 21ย So David said to Michal, โ€œIt wasย before theย Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of theย Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will playย musicย before theย Lord.ย 22ย And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.โ€

Iโ€™ve grown to lift up my hands on my front porch of my houseโ€ฆto bow and pray at my desk at workโ€ฆto lift up my hands in my carโ€ฆto stop and bow on the sidewalk.

You see, for me praise is powerful therapy. Psalm 16:11 is so trueโ€ฆ

Psalm 16:11ย  (ESV)

11ย You make known to meย the path of life;
in your presence there isย fullness of joy;
at your right hand areย pleasures forevermore.

ย It is impossible to praise God and complain at the same time.

I canโ€™t count the times I felt overwhelmed, and then stopped and praised God. He blessed me with an uexplainable, but very real feeling of peace and contentment. I said to myself, “HEY! WHEREโ€™D THAT PEACE COME FROM?”ย  There are days when I thought I would go crazy, but praise calmed my spirit.

So, if people look at me a little funny, I donโ€™t care becauseโ€ฆ

I would rather look crazy than go crazy.

Thatโ€™s my challenge to you today. Give God a public display of affection. Prove to yourself that you arenโ€™t ashamed. I promise it will be easier after the first time.

wp-1494646682449.

I don’t own the rights to this music.

Don’t forget this…

Luke 9:26ย ย (NKJV)

26ย For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in Hisย ownย glory, andย in Hisย Fatherโ€™s, and of the holy angels.

BEFORE YOU UNFRIEND, BLOCK OR DELETE YOUR ‘MESSY’ FRIENDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA…

wp-1488518194108.jpg

Many Christians say they don’t do social media, or they are getting off of social media because it’s too messy.

But, you can misuse anything…

Phone…

Television…

A piece of paper…

Even God’s word.

In fact, many people misuse God’s word to fit their own agenda.

So, how do you tell who is in harmony with God’s word when all parties involved are using it?

You can tell by the person(s) most trying to view from God’s perspectiveโ€ฆmoving their own perspective and desired interpretation out of the way.

Use social media responsibly and, it can be a powerful tool.

And, to those who Christians that say they are unfriending, blocking and deleting so-and-so because they post too much foolishness…

Maybe he or she can benefit from your LIGHT.

Besides, if they havenโ€™t unfriended, blocked or deleted you because of you spiritual posts, then why should you because of their ‘foolish’ posts?

After all, are you going to delete yourself from the world because of the foolishness in it?

2 Corinthians 2:4

1 Corinthians 5:9-10
9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.

But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,โ€
Says theย Lord, your Redeemer.

On those days you may think God has turned His back on you.

GOOD NEWS IF THERE’S CONFLICT OR DISCOMFORT IN YOUR LIFE…

Is this you?

For whatever reason things have become very difficult for you.

It could be in your family…

In your career…

In your ministry.

Has an area that was once very successful, very lucrative, very easy has dried up?

Is your best not good enough?

Does no one seem to understand you?

Will no one let you inside your circle?

Do you receive resistance for the good you do?

You don’t get acknowledged, while others are being celebrated.

Well, when your best isn’t good enough, that’s their problem not yours.

When no one understands you or your vision…Good. That’s why God entrusted it to you.

If no one will let you inside their circle, then maybe God is trying to build His own circle around you.

Remember that demons got restless whenever Jesus came around.

If you aren’t being celebrated, not only did Jesus not receive any ‘awards’…He was killed by His own.

He’s not dead, and the same power that raised Him from the dead is available to you.

Jesus entire earthly ministry was filled with conflict.

So, here’s your good news…

If you are at an uncomfortable place in your life…

Anything great is birthed from CONFLICT and not COMFORT.

Remember in 1 Kings Chapter 17 how the prophet Elisha was being sustained by God at the Brook of Cherith? The brook provided his water and God commanded that the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and evening. But, the brook dried upโ€ฆ

Why? Because God had to move Elisha from his place of comfort to his next assignment. Had God not allowed what was sustaining Elisha dry up. He made it uncomfortable.

In Acts Chapter 9 The Apostle Paul was going about his business when Jesus knocked him down on the road to Damascus and suddenly, he went from destroying the church to building it up.

If you have conflict in your life, maybe God has you in a place of transition.

Maybe He’s trying to birth something great from your life.

BEFORE YOU ‘JUDGE’ SNOOP DOGG DOING A GOSPEL ALBUM, CONSIDER THISโ€ฆ

Snoop

Many people have been eager to offer their opinion on Snoop Dogg doing a Gospel album. Itโ€™s not my place to judge who God chooses to use. Consider this…

Most of our most beloved Psalms were inspired by God through a man who killed thousands of people, and had a man killed so he could have his wife (King David). If you were living then, and you knew David from the context of what He had done, would you be receptive to his Psalms?

Even though God strictly forbids the homosexual lifestyle along with other sins, many of the Gospel songs that we love, that touch the hearts of countless people, and have even led people to Christ, were written by homosexuals. (That by no means excuses or justifies the sin, but the truth is the truth).

Even the apostle Paul said that some preach with ungodly motives and others with a sincere heartโ€ฆbut he was just thankful that Christ was preached and despite the selfish motives, people received the word.

Philippians 1:15-18 (NKJV)

15ย Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill:ย 16ย The former[a]ย preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;ย 17ย but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.ย 18ย What then? Onlyย thatย in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

So, if Snoop Dogg recording Gospel music that sincerely inspires someone or strengthens someone’s connection to Godโ€ฆthen to God be the Glory.

It’s God’s sovereign choice to use whomever and however He chooses.

Itโ€™s not our place, no matter how evident it may seem to me by his current and past โ€˜fruitโ€™, to judge what is in Mr. Calvin Broadus Jr.โ€™s (Snoop Doggโ€™s) heart. Or, how he is developing and growing in his relationship with God. It’s not our place to judge how He uses his talent and resources to honor Him… That’s between him and God.

QUESTION: IS AN ATHEIST’S LOVE OR GENEROSITY FROM GOD?

wp-1494042038518.

When an atheist loves or does good, is it from God?

Is a spiritual truth from another faith still wisdom from God, even though it may not be attributed to the one true God?

The fact of the matter is there are some atheists and people of other faiths more loving, friendly and generous than many of us Christians.

We were all made in Godโ€™s image. God IS love, and any love that is in us is from Him. Just because some people donโ€™t attribute that love to Him doesnโ€™t mean it doesn’t come from Him. Love definitely cannot come from the devil.

Genesis 1:27 (NKJV)

27ย So God created man in Hisย ownย image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

But, being made in Godโ€™s image doesnโ€™t mean that we look like Him physically because He is a spirit.

John 4:24 (NKJV)

24ย Godย isย Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.โ€

In fact, Jesus represents our invisible Father in bodily formโ€ฆ

Colossians 1:15 (NKJV)

15ย He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Colossians 2:8-9(NKJV)

8ย Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.ย 9ย For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

But, being made in His image means we look like Him spiritually. It means we can have His characterโ€ฆHis heart…His attributes…His mind.

1 Corinthians 2:16 (NKJV)

16ย For โ€œwho has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?โ€[a] But we have the mind of Christ.

It means we can love like Him. We can hurt like Him. We can be angry like Him. We can feel like Him.

He gives EVERYONE of us a measure of faithโ€ฆ

Romans 12:3

3ย For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to thinkย of himselfย more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

He also gave us free will, and because of that free will, some choose place that faith in idol Godsโ€ฆother religionsโ€ฆthemselves…or no one at all.

Itโ€™s just like a son who looks just like His father but resents and rejects him saying, โ€œYou’re not my father!โ€ “I look nothing like you!โ€

Consider this verseโ€ฆ

Romans 2: 14-16

14ย for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves,ย 15ย who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselvesย theirย thoughts accusing or else excusingย them)ย 16ย in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Anyone’s ability to love and do good comes from God, even if they don’t believe in Him, it still originates from Him.

Also, since God is all-knowing, and the source of all knowledgeโ€ฆthen even the wisdom of other religions is still from God. They just donโ€™t attribute it to Himโ€ฆ.

Romans 1:20-23 (NKJV)

20ย For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21ย because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22ย Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23ย and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible manโ€”and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Just because that same son we mentioned earlier doesnโ€™t want to admit that he inherited his intelligence or talents from his father or mother, doesnโ€™t mean that he didnโ€™t.

Itโ€™s evident in everything the son does, he proves he came from his parents, he proves they exist or existedโ€ฆwhether he admits it or not.

So, when unbelievers love. When someone of another faith speaks wisdom. When either of them are generousโ€ฆit still comes from God. They are still created in His image. They just donโ€™t give Him credit as the source.

For example, the wisdom behind โ€˜karmaโ€™ is still the same Godly knowledge of โ€˜reaping what you sowโ€™โ€ฆ

Galatians 6:7-9(NKJV)

7ย Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

When you hear truth coming from an atheist or someone of another faithโ€ฆthe fact that they donโ€™t believe in the one true and living God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ doesnโ€™t prevent it from being truthโ€ฆin fact, they are proving God is real.

It is our responsibility to convince them to give their measure of faith to God.

MAYBE THIS IS WHY GOD DID SOME THINGS ONLY ONCE…

wp-1487735735467.jpg
HAVE FAITH IN WHO DID IT, NOT HOW HE DID IT…DON’T ALLOW SUPERSTITION TO SNEAK INTO YOUR FAITH!

God only had Israel march around a city seven times to bring the walls downโ€ฆONCE. (Joshua 6)

There was onlyโ€ฆ ONEโ€ฆman who had superhuman strength through his hair. (Judges 13-16)

We only know of Jesus putting clay on the eyes of a man to heal his sightโ€ฆONCE. (John Chapter 9)

Why?

God wants us to have faith in WHO did it, not HOW He did it.

Putting faith in HOW God did it builds…

SUPERSTITION instead of FAITH.

Put your faith in THE WAY, not THE WAY He does it.

Don’t allow superstition to sneak into your faith.

John 14:6 (NKJV)

Jesus said to him, โ€œI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

IF YOU SEE MY HEAD BOWED AT…

wp-1485270312137.jpg

If you see my head bowed atโ€ฆ

My deskโ€ฆ

A red lightโ€ฆ

My meal or snackโ€ฆ

In the waiting roomโ€ฆ

While standing in lineโ€ฆ

In the aisle at the supermarketโ€ฆ

As I approach the voting boothโ€ฆ

While Iโ€™m at the ball gameโ€ฆ

During the meetingโ€ฆ

On my front porchโ€ฆ

There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m just acknowledging God in everything that I do.

Proverbs 3:6ย  (NKJV)

6ย In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a]ย your paths.

The older I get, the more I realize I canโ€™t make it through a single day without prayingโ€ฆa lot.

1 Thessalonians 5:17ย  (NKJV)

17ย pray without ceasing,

BE BLESSTIFIED!

YES, THE BIBLE SAYS WE CAN WE BE TOO RIGHTEOUS…

wp-1472569536852.jpg
Most cake recipes call for a little salt. Many of us like to satisfy our sweet tooth with a good slice of cake. In fact, when it’s really good, one bite just makes you want another. The right amount of salt makes cakes taste just right…making you want more with each bite. However, too much salt will make us quickly spit it out of our mouth.

Check out these verses…

Colossians 4:6ย ย (NKJV)

6ย Letย your speech alwaysย beย with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Ecclesiastes 7:16ย ย (NKJV)

16ย Do not be overly righteous,
Nor be overly wise:
Why should you destroy yourself?

It’s good to have passion for the Kingdom of God, but when we are over-zealous, arrogant, mean-spiritedย  self-righteous, we can turn people away rather than attract them to Christ. All things in moderation. If we are trying to talk about the Lord in EVERY conversation, claim we never do anything wrong, or down people who are unbelievers, we can make people avoid us, dread seeing us coming and destroy any influence we may have. But, if we cleverly chose the right moments to ‘sprinkle the salt of the word’ when it’s applicable, people are more likely to listen, receive it, and even soften hardened hearts.

‘Love out loud’ and ‘Live out loud’!

Let people see God in our character rather than beating them with the bible, making every conversation about God, or punctuating every sentence with a spiritual clichรฉ. Wisely ‘sprinkling the salt’ of God’s word in conversations can make people hungry for more, and establish you as the go-to person on your job, your team, your school, your family when people want to know more about God. Being over zealous makes us seem crazy, and people can conclude, “I donโ€™t want what they have.” God expects us to use wisdom and do everyone His Spirit of excellence. Notice how Paul reasoned with the Epicureans, Stoics, and people of Athens with respect and wisdom in Acts 17. He didn’t ‘beat them over the head’ or talk down to them. He wetted their appetite so that some wanted to hear more.

Psalm 19:10 proclaims God’s word is sweeter than honey in the comb. Yes it is! I love it. But if we don’t handle it wisely, people will spit it out, and we can do more harm than good.

WHY A PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT DESERVES A PUBLIC APOLOGY…

wp-1482415568805.jpg
DON’T TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT WITH YOUR APOLOGY

Has anyone ever embarrassed, hurt or insulted you openly in public? Have you ever done so? Have you ever made public some information about someone later to find out that information was wrong? Have you ever defamed or slandered someone?

For whatever reason, we all openly hurt one another from time to time. Sometimes we do it on purpose, and sometimes it’s unintentional. These ‘public displays of ‘non-affection’ can leave bad impressions and potentially ruin reputations of all parties involved.

Many times when we realize what we’ve done, truly feel sorry and want to apologize.ย  We’ll pull the person or persons to the side and tell them, “I’m sorry… I was wrong”.

This is good but not good enough…

Acts 16:37 (NKJV)

37 But Paul said to them, โ€œThey have beaten us openly, uncondemned Romans, and have thrown us into prison. And now do they put us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and get us out.โ€

Those who heard or witnessed the embarrassment may still think you were right. Those who heard or witnessed the insult may still be influenced by what you did or said…that public embarrassment deserves a public apology.

I remember growing up in church that sometimes in testimonies, people would stand before the church and proclaim, “If I’ve ever done anything to hurt anyone here today, I’m sorry”…if you know who you hurt and what you did, this also is not good enough.

If you know that you slapped someone in the face, simply saying, “I’m sorry IF I hurt you” isn’t enough. If you slandered someone, making a blanket statement to a group that, “If I hurt SOMEONE, I’m sorry” is just not enough.

If you know what you did and who you did it to, then you need to show enough respect to call out their name.

It’s good to apologize, but if we aren’t careful, we can take the easy way out and not fully respect the person or persons that we have hurt.

Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV)

23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Don’t take the easy way out with your apology.

HOW GOD KEEPS ME HUMBLE AS A BLOGGER & MINISTER…

wp-1477197463796.jpg

When God gives you a gift for His glory, itโ€™s not only goodโ€ฆitโ€™s excellent!

James 1:17ย  (NKJV)

17ย Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

I enjoy writing and sharing what God has placed in my heart. I love teaching and preaching as I have opportunity. It makes me feel so alive! And, God gives me inspiration EVERYWHERE! In good and in evil. In joy and in pain. At work and at home. In the profound and profane. God has fresh revelation to His unchanging word everywhereโ€ฆand I have to write and share.

I must admit that most of the time, when I finish writing or saying what God has placed in my heart in my own style, I sometimes say WOW! Thatโ€™s pretty awesome, but not because of me, but because of my awesome God!

I guess we are all spiritual plagiarists, because nothing anyone writes or says is original, it all comes from God.

But, hereโ€™s my point. No matter how good I may feel about what I have shared. No matter how many โ€˜attaboysโ€™ and pats-on-the-back I getโ€ฆ

I ALWAYS read, hear or watch something that someone else has shared that is even MORE awesome and powerful that what I have written.

Someone is always revealing something that I never knew. Someone is always, in their own style, sharing something that makes me stop and say WOW! Someone is always confirming something that God has placed in my heart.

It humbles me to see how powerfully God speaks through and uses others.

When I’m reminded daily of how God uses so many anointed, talented, gifted people, it keeps me humble, as I realize that even though He is using me in a powerful wayโ€ฆHis Kingdom work can go on just fine without me.

Let me encourage you to never diminish the power of what God has placed inside you, but at the same time never let your gift, your talent, your ability, your education, your popularity, your accolades, or awards to allow you to become arrogant, proud or vain.

Unfortunately, there are too many spiritually arrogant preachers, teachers, ministers, pastors, authors, writers, bloggers, artists, singers, musicians…

Our challenge is to not allow the power of what God has placed in us to provoke us to glory in ourselves. Let us never forget that if anything good comes from us, all glory goes to God.

Here are just a few scriptural remindersโ€ฆ

1 Corinthians 1:30-31ย  (NKJV)

30ย But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from Godโ€”and righteousness and sanctification and redemptionโ€”ย 31ย that, as it is written,ย โ€œHe who glories, let him glory in the Lord.โ€[a]

2 Corinthians 10:17ย  (NKJV)

17ย Butย โ€œhe who glories, let him glory in the Lord.โ€[a]

ย Psalm 115:1ย (NKJV)

Not unto us, Oย Lord, not unto us,
But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy,
Because of Your truth.

WHY I WILL NEVER HAVE AN US AGAINST THEM ATTITUDE…

wp-1494948105690.

I know there are other races and other racial issues, but in America, the biggest race conversation has always been Black and White. It’s a shame that racial division is still prevalent. The devil finds a way to raise up a whole new generation of racists of all races.ย  It’s a tool he uses that quite frankly will never go away.ย  Iโ€™m blessed to have friends in all races and cultures.

However, I’m a Black man, and naturally I have concerns specific to those a Black man. I would be foolish if I didn’t. However, that doesn’t mean that I will agree with ALLย Black people on how to address all โ€˜Blackโ€™ issues. Some will even disagree with me on using the term ‘Black’ instead of ‘African American’. All Black people don’t have to and will not agree on everything. Black people should be able to feel the way they feelโ€ฆto have their own opinion without being labeled a ‘sell out’ or not ‘woke’, ‘down’ or aware. All Black people didn’t agree during the Civil Rights Movement. There’s no race that agrees on everything. That’s a myth. Some cultures may facilitate collaboration differently, but NO race is totally united. Accomplishments and progression are achieved through unified groups within each race.

The truth is that in my life, I have been equally helped and hindered by both Blacks and Whites. There are times when both Black and White people could have acted in my behalf and chose not to do so…and so have I.

I will never have an us against them attitude!

It’s God’s will that we are all one in Christโ€ฆ

Galatians 3:28 (NKJV)

28ย There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus

โ€ฆwhich by the way wasn’t White or Black (that’s another conversation), Christ was born Jewish but existed before there were Jews or any other ‘race’ (John 1:1-14). And, the world was given the โ€˜oraclesโ€™ of God (Romans 3:2) through the Jewish culture and context.

But, even the Jews aren’t a race. Notice that through Abraham God didn’t raise up a race. He raised a faith. Read more about that in my article,ย FAITH, NOT RACEโ€ฆ

I will never have an us against them attitude.

I love people…all people! I love everyone, but my first allegiance is to God. Because of that…

Sometimes I may piss off Black people…

Sometimes I may piss off White people…

Sometimes I may piss off Asians, Latinos etc.

Sometimes I may piss off Buddhists, Muslims, Jews and, yes Christians.

But, that’s okay as long as I DON’T piss off the God of my salvation.

I’m a disciple of Christ first, then Black…but I love everyone.

I will stand for you equally as long as you are in harmony with God’s truth.

I will never have an us against them attitude!

You don’t have to humiliate yourself to be humble.

Remember this…

I respect you. But, I lick my lips too many times a day to kiss your behind.

You don’t have to surrender your self-respect to validate someone else’s.

It’s not a sin to assert yourself.

Job 12:3ย (NKJV)

3ย But I have understanding as well as you;
I am not inferior to you.
Indeed, who does not know such things as these?
