Presented with a dilemma with eternal implications unknown to him, and with Jesus before Him, Pilate asked a poignant question…
John 18:38 (NKJV)
38 Pilate said to Him, โWhat is truth?โ And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, โI find no fault in Him at all.
The TRUTH is absolute independent of how we view it… just like God.
We defile it…
We pervert it…
We skew it towards our own point of view or agenda.
We make the truthsubjective.
This is why the key to finding truth when two people are using THE SAME SCRIPTURE to justify their perspective is totally removing how we WANT to view the scripture and seeking to see it as God intended. WEโRE BOTH USING SCRIPTURE SOโฆHOW TO TELL WHOโS โRIGHTโ?
For example, Yeshua the Messiah clearly says we should “turn the other cheek” if someone strikes us, and He gave us that example just before He was crucified…
Matthew 5:39 (NKJV)
39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
Luke 22:63-65 (NLT)
63 The guards in charge of Jesus began mocking and beating him. 64 They blindfolded him and said, โProphesy to us! Who hit you that time?โ 65 And they hurled all sorts of terrible insults at him.
However, Christians read the truth in the above scripture, and then reason for themselves how it’s okay to strike someone back when it’s not in self defense. They see turning the other cheek as a sign of weakness. If your life isn’t truly in danger, striking someone back is pride.
In our heated social, historical and political climate, people ‘research’… ‘fact check’… read history and filter the absolute facts we find through our subjective perspectives.
In both the Old and New Testaments the bible makes it clear that homosexuality is a sin just the same as fornication and adultery. However, people who want to justify what they want to do, but also claim to be Christian will say, “That’s not what the scripture means.” WHY ITโS STILL A SIN EVEN IF YOU WERE, โBORN THAT WAYโโฆ
Another example…Benedict Arnold led the British army in battle to the very men that he had previously commanded.
That’s a fact.
But, how history views him is subjective. America views him as a traitor, while people from Britain might not think so. Calling him either a traitor or a hero creates a narrative, so he truth is filtered through perspective.
One last example…a zebra is black and white, however subjectivity creates a narrative when say the zebra is ‘black with white stripes’ or ‘white with black stripes’. Science has determined that their skin is black and their stripes are white per the website LIVESCIENCE.COM…https://bit.ly/3xjAqeA.
We make the truth subjective through our perspective.
When people say they’re LIVING THEIR TRUTH, give them this gentle reminder… “The truth doesn’t belong to you.”
John 14:6 (NKJV)
6 Jesus said to him, โI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
perยทvertverb/pษrหvษrt/
alter (something) from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended.
We live in a highly interactive world. Everyone has a platform, especially through social media, to express themselves. We interact with one another in our families. On your jobs. In our schools. As the bible says, โas we go out and as we come inโ, we are almost always interacting with someone.
Whoever is reading this is interacting with me right now. What Iโm writing right now may be foolishness to you. You may consider it stupid. You may consider it offensive. If so, after reading you have a choice. Do I respond? Or, do I just move on? And, thus to the crux of my short message hereโฆ
When you hear something. When you read something. When someone comes โhead onโ to you with something that you consider FOOLISHNESSโฆwhat do you do?
SOME FOOLISHNESS DOES NOT DESERVE A RESPONSE, WHILE OTHER FOOLISHNESS DEMANDS ONE.
Some foolishness would die if we would just allow it. While other foolishness is like a spark ready to spread like wildfire.
How do you know?
Well, you have to pray for discernment. Discernment is an aspect of wisdom, and God will grant it in abundance if you ask Him.
James 1:5 (NKJV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Notice how sometimes Jesus responded to those who opposed Him, and sometimes He was rather assertive.
Matthew 15:1-12 (NKJV)
15 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 โWhy do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.โ
3 He answered and said to them, โWhy do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, โHonor your father and your motherโ; [a] and, โHe who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.โ[b]5 But you say, โWhoever says to his father or mother, โWhatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to Godโโ 6 then he need not honor his father or mother.โ[c] Thus you have made the commandment[d] of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
8 โThese people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And[e] honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.โ โ[f]
10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, โHear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.โ
12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, โDo You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?โ
While other times, He didnโt say a wordโฆ
Matthew 27:12-14 (NKJV)
12 And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing.
13 Then Pilate said to Him, โDo You not hear how many things they testify against You?โ 14 But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
1 Peter 2:23 (NKJV)
23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;
But, when you DO respond, remember thisโฆ
Respond in wisdom.
Respond with reason.
And, please donโt respond in your raw emotions.
We must realize when we are planting a seed of righteousness, and a seed of foolishness.
Proverbs 29:11 (NKJV)
11 A fool vents all his feelings,[a]
But a wise man holds them back.
While many Christians are conscious of ‘politicized’ sins and feeding conspiracy theories, there’s 3 sins and conspiracies that have slipped through their radar and been accepted.
Yes, abortion is sin. Yes, homosexuality is sin. Many people who identify as Christians are passionate about rebuking and rejecting these sins, as they should be. However, these aren’t the only abominations in the bible. The fact is that many evangelicals reject some sins while excusing those that either don’t bother them, or that they want to continue committing.
So, if you want liberals to accept that abortion and homosexuality are sins, are you willing to accept…
1. Allowing your children to participate in Halloween is symbolically sacrificing them to idols?
God became very angry at Israel for adopting the customs of the heathen and sacrificing their children to Molech and allowing them to ‘pass through the fire’. Halloween’s roots are undeniably pagan. Either a Google search or scholarly research can easily prove that. The devil knows he can’t get Christians today to ‘sacrifice’ their children literally, so he does it symbolically to spite God. The easiest way for the enemy to allow sin to continue through generations is to make people feel as though their children are missing out on something, and that’s what he does. God made it clear that we are not to ‘learn the way of the heathen’…
Jeremiah 10:2-5 (KJV)
2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them?
If you want liberals to accept that abortion is wrong, are you willing to accept that Halloween is a pagan practice that should immediately be removed as a National holiday (holy day)?
2. Calling our celebration of our Lord and Savior’s resurrection ‘EASTER’ is blatant blasphemy?
It’s undeniable that the name EASTER has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ, (Yeshua the Messiah). It is derived from the name of a pagan goddess named Eostre, who is the same goddess as Ishtar, and Ashtoreth who God continually rebuked and punished Israel for worshipping. The devil has allowed this worship to continue by defiling the celebration of Yeshua’s death, burial and resurrection. Notice what God told His people before they entered the promised land…
Joshua 23:6-7(New King James Version)
6 Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, lest you turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left, 7 and lest you go[a] among these nations, these who remain among you. YOU SHALL NOT MAKE MENTION OF THE NAME of their gods, nor cause anyone to swear by them; you shall not serve them nor bow down to them,
God is very clear here. DO NOT MAKE MENTION. But, the devil has convinced Christians to do exactly that EVERY TIME they refer to a day set aside to celebrate the Lord’s resurrection. Putting any name where God’s name belongs is BLASPHEMY. Look at how angry God was at His people acknowledging idol Gods when they were rebuked for worshipping Tammuz who is directly associated with Ishtar…
Ezekiel 8:14-18 (NKJV)
14 So He brought me to the door of the north gate of the Lordโs house; and to my dismay, women were sitting there weeping for [a]Tammuz.
15 Then He said to me, โHave you seen this, O son of man? Turn again, you will see greater abominations than these.โ 16 So He brought me into the inner court of the Lordโs house; and there, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, and they were worshiping the sun toward the east.
17 And He said to me, โHave you seen this, O son of man? Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger. Indeed they put the branch to their nose. 18 Therefore I also will act in fury. My eye will not spare nor will I have pity; and though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.โ
These are the abominations that got His people exiled into Assyria and Babylon. It’s amazing how Americans who are so concerned with losing their freedom ignore the sins that actually made Israel lose their freedom — the Spiritual adultery, not the actual heathens in the land themselves.
If you want ‘sinners’ to accept that abortion and homosexuality is sin, are you willing to accept that calling our Savior’s resurrection celebration ‘Easter’ and continuing the customs of hunting eggs, especially in church is blasphemy and an abomination?
3. Celebrating our Savior’s birth by erecting a tree in your home is setting up a shrine to an idol in your home?
It is also clear that the origin of Christmas trees is pagan as well. I myself had vacillated about this for years. But, notice what Encyclopedia Britannica says concerning Christmas trees…
“according to the Encyclopรฆdia Britannica, “The use of evergreen trees, wreaths, and garlands to symbolize eternal life was a custom of the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and Hebrews. Tree worship was common among the pagan Europeans and survived their conversion to Christianity in the Scandinavian customs of decorating the house and barn with evergreens at the New Year to scare away the devil and of setting up a tree for the birds during Christmas time.”
It is clear what God told His people in Jeremiah when referencing how they harvested trees to carve idols…
Jeremiah 10:2-5 (NKJV)
2 Thus says the Lord:
โDo not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the peoples are[a]futile; For one cuts a tree from the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. 4 They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple. 5 They are upright, like a palm tree, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot go by themselves. Do not be afraid of them, For they cannot do evil, Nor can they do any good.โ
Too many Christians are perfectly comfortable telling their children that Santa Claus is watching them all year. They are comfortable letting their children think that Santa Clause “knows when they are sleeping, and knows when they are awake…knows if they’ve been bad or good.” Only God can do these things! This again is blasphemy. The devil has convinced Christians that it’s harmless, but notice that God states in Ezekiel 8:17 that God doesn’t see anything as trivial…”Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here?” Again, one of the enemy’s strategies to allow sins to go on for thousands of years is to convince people that their children are missing out on something.
The fact is that if God forbade all of the three practices above, they are symbolically very much like the ‘accursed things’ that Achan coveted from the heathen people of Ai. He took it and hid it bringing the wrath of God on himself and his family. Please go back and read Joshua Chapter 7.
If you find yourself searching for excuses to prove the above statements wrong, if you’re ‘pushing back’, then you’re no different than the ‘sinner’ who supports abortion or homosexuality — they are all equal abominations to God.
Too many people, as the Apostle Paul said, have a zeal or passion for God, but not according to knowledge. And, just like the people of that day, we have gone about to ESTABLISH OUR OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Romans 10:2-4 (NKJV)
2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of Godโs righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Too many people politicize the sins that bother them, while excusing those that don’t. They excuse the sins they wish to continue. Many of these sins are the very sins that provoked God to enough anger to send them into exile.
I have heard so many people give the reason for their political choices based on ‘sins’ as ‘the lesser of two evils’. In God’s eyes sin is sin, so there is no lesser of two evils.
To prevent hurting someone’s feelings when they weren’t really funny.
How many times do you fake laugh? How often do you type LOL when you didn’t really laugh-out-loud?
How many times do you say, “THAT’S HILARIOUS”… but you aren’t really laughing?
So, if it’s not really funny, and you pretend to laugh…is that considered lying?
Now, we all know that David pretended to be crazy to save his life, but I can’t find an example of someone pretending to laugh.
1 Samuel 21:12-14 (NKJV)
12 Now David (A)took these words [a]to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. 13 So (B)he changed his behavior before them, pretended [b]madness in their hands, [c]scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard. 14 Then Achish said to his servants, โLook, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me?
9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
John 1:9 (NKJV)
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
How many times have you heard someone say, “You aren’t going to change my mind”?
As Christians, we say that to anyone who tries to convince us to reject Jesus. So, as we strive to promote the love of Christ, and to convince people to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, it’s easy to understand how some people who were born and raised in other faiths or no faith will say the same thing.
But, we must understand that our challenge as Christians isn’t to change MINDS, but to touch HEARTS. When you touch someone’s HEART with the love of Christ, their THINKING changes.
In Jeremiah 33:31, God promises us,
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their HEARTS. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
Notice, God didn’t say He’d put His word in our minds, but hearts.
How many times have you struggled to change someone’s mind?
Some have even married people determined to change their MINDS and thinking.
Any effective social movement such as the Civil Rights Movement was successful because it changes hearts. You can’t FORCE people to change how they think, but when you touch their HEARTS, their thinking will change. The NON-VIOLENT protests of the 50’s and 60’s were designed to change hearts.
People will tell you, “You can talk to me until you’re blue in the face, you won’t change my mind!” And they’re right. Talk makes people defensive of their thinking, but God’s love has the power to change their heart. Talk is CHEAP, but LOVE is action.
Don’t beat your head against the wall trying to change someone’s mind.
Don’t rely on LOUD talk and FORCE to change someone’s mind.
LIVE out loud and LOVE out loud to change the HEART, and the MIND will follow.
The bible teaches us that it’s God that gives us the power, ability, knowledge and strength to get ‘wealth’, and that is very true…
Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
18 โAnd you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may [a]establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
But, how many times have you heard someone say, or said yourself, “I deserved everything that I have because I worked hard for it!”
You planned…
You’ve worked hard…
You’ve sacrificed…
You’ve made good decisions.
You even had great faith.
Let me give you a quick reminder in humility and God’s grace and mercy…
Yes, you definitely ‘earned’ it, but be very careful before you say you deserve it.
Before you say that you deserve your success and influence because of your hard work and effort, think about all of the people who also planned, worked hard, sacrificed, made good decisions, and had great faith…and for whatever reason, things just didn’t work out.
Think about all of the businesses that fail every day.
Think about all of the relationships that fall apart every day.
There are plenty of people who have planned and worked…
Just as hard or harder…
Just as smart or smarter…
Sacrificed just as much and more…
Made decisions that were just as good or better…
And, things just didn’t work out in their favor.
From the macro-economic environment, to social conditions, unforeseen sicknesses and circumstances, there are innumerable reasons why sometimes hard work is not rewarded with success.
And let us not forget about those people who want to work but can’t because of a disability they can’t help.
All in all, it’s only by God’s grace and mercy and His plan for our lives that things, work out as we hope and plan.
Remember…
Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV)
9 A manโs heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Psalm 128:1-4 (NKJV)
Blessed is every one who fears the Lord,
Who walks in His ways.
2 When you eat the [a]labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. 3 Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table. 4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed Who fears the Lord.
It’s God’s will for you to enjoy the fruit of your labor, but never forget that any ‘success’ is only through His grace and mercy.
Don’t let the enemy to allow arrogance into your testimony.
If you have ever worked hard, planned well, sacrificed, made great decisions and had great faith, only to have things not work out in your favor, please respond to this post as a testimony. Be humble in your success, and never steal God’s glory, grace and mercy for yourself.
Sex is a gift from God. Even though it’s the means He intended for us to be fruitful and multiply, it is also meant to be enjoyed within the bonds of holy matrimony between a man and a woman.
Our bodies with their various curves, shapes, textures, contrast of colors, smells etc., are meant to provoke sexual arousal. It’s up to us to control these urges so that they are only fulfilled within marriage.
One of those divine combinations of curves, shapes, textures, and contrast of colors is the female breast.
Yes, these were created for mothers to make sure their children are nourished, but that’s not all.
They were also created for the mutual pleasure of the husband and the wife. Breasts were created:
As a means of seducing her husband…
For her pleasure during times of intimacy…
To be aesthetically pleasing to entice her husband…
For his enjoyment during times of intimacy…
The fact is that even though God created female breasts to nurse their children, that boobs aren’t just for the babies. Check out these bible verses about female breasts and intimacy within marriage.
Proverbs 5:18-19 (NKJV)
18 Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth. 19 As a loving deer and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; And always be [a]enraptured with her love.
Song of Solomon 1:12-13 (NKJV)
12 While the king is at his table, My [a]spikenard sends forth its fragrance. 13 A bundle of myrrh is my beloved to me, That lies all night between my breasts.
Song of Solomon 4:4-5 (NKJV)
4 Your neck is like the tower of David, Built for an armory, On which hang a thousand [a]bucklers, All shields of mighty men. 5 Your two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle, Which feed among the lilies
Song of Solomon 7:2-3, 8(NKJV)
2 Your navel is a rounded goblet; It lacks no [a]blended beverage. Your waist is a heap of wheat Set about with lilies. 3 Your two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle.
Song of Solomon 7:8 (NKJV)
8 I said, โI will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of its branches.โ Let now your breasts be like clusters of the vine, The fragrance of your [a]breath like apples,
Song of Solomon 8:10 (NKJV)
10 I am a wall, And my breasts like towers; Then I became in his eyes As one who found peace.
Hebrews 13:4 (NKJV)
4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
1 Corinthians 7:2-5 (NLT)
2 But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.
3 The husband should fulfill his wifeโs sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husbandโs needs. 4 The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
5 Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan wonโt be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
So, couples enjoy one another, and may your marriages…

Don’t worry about tomorrow, if you don’t trust God with today.
There may be some reason that you arenโt looking forward to or may even be dreading tomorrow…. next week… or next month. It could be because of challenges in your relationship(s), on your job, your health.
It could be that your paycheck will not be enough to take care of your obligations.
It may be a promise you made that you already know you can’t fulfill.
You may have robbed Peter and still don’t have enough to pay Paul. You may be separated from loved ones and support.
It may be the expected or the unexpected.
Iโm not here to promise a miracle if you share this post.
Iโm not even promising tomorrow will be better or even arrive.
God hasn’t promised us tomorrow…but He has given us today.
That’s why He said…
Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
If you have the strength or means to read this post or have it read to you, then God has abundantly blessed you.
In fact, no matter how much or how little money, food, clothing, strength or hope you have, He’s given you more than enough for today.
Those days in your past that you have dreaded, even if they were as ‘bad’ as you expected…you’re still here.
The truth is that God is sovereign to do what He pleases with each day and each person He made.
He loves us, and no matter how bad it may seem, He’s working all things together for our good…
Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
The fact is either we trust Him or we don’t. Don’t worry about tomorrow if you don’t trust God with today.
If you’re worried about tomorrow… next week… or even next year…
SNAP OUT OF IT! And, make a conscious effort to do everything you can to enjoy every minute… every second… every hour of today.
Reach down inside and praise God and tell Him you love Him and trust Him with today.
If you don’t know what to say, I suggest…
Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)
This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Having you ever noticed a child throwing a temper tantrum when he or she doesnโt get something that they want? This is a natural reaction that must be overcome as the child matures. The reaction is naturalโฆinnateโฆthe child was born with it.
As you know, the debate continues as to whether people are born gay, or is it a choice. The purpose of this article isn’t to debate that question, but to address this fact…
The truth is that we are all born with innate desires, feelings and proclivities that we did not ask for.
Many Christians reason to excuse some behaviors by saying, โI or they was or were born this wayโ.
This doesnโt mean that God made a mistake because the scripture clearly reminds us that we were all born in sinโฆ
Psalm 51:5 (NKJV)
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
We were all born with desires we didnโt ask forโฆthat doesnโt make them ALL okay. Just because it comes naturally doesnโt make right. Some natural desires we must resist with the help of the Holy Spiritโฆ
Fornicationโฆ
Adulteryโฆ
Homosexualityโฆ
Gluttonyโฆ
Greedโฆ
Jealousyโฆ
Envyโฆ
Wrath โฆ
โฆALL come from natural desires and they are ALL EQUALLY wrong.
Even David, a man after Godโs own heart was born with an insatiable desire for womenโฆbut that did not make it right or acceptable to God. Those who read the bible know what that led to.
Some people are naturally more greedy, more lustful, more promiscuous, more selfish, more aggressive, more violent that othersโฆdoes that make it okay? For those who wish to argue these are learned behaviors, some people have these behaviors modeled and โlearnโ them, while others witnessed these behaviors and didnโt succumb to them.
Pedophiles donโt feel they โchooseโ to be attracted to childrenโฆdoes that make it okay? No!
The desires of our flesh war against our spiritโฆand these vary from person to person.
Galatians 5:17 (NKJV)
17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
It is only by walking in the Fruit of the Spirit can we overcome our fleshly desires that displease God.
Galatians 5:16 (NKJV)
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:22,23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
By the way, calling out something as sin is NOT judging. And, it’s not saying it’s any more wrong than another sin!
Thatโs why fasting is so powerful. It is a tool we can use to bring our flesh into subjection, overcome our weaknesses and prove to ourselves that our desires wonโt rule us. Itโs our tool to move those mountains in our lives.
Matthew 17: 20-21
20 So Jesus said to them, โBecause of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, โMove from here to there,โ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting
Use this as post ammunition when someone presents to you the argument, โI was born this way, so it canโt be wrongโ.
Just because itโs natural, doesnโt mean itโs okay.
It may be because of the mistakes and bad decisions you’ve made…
It may be because your children aren’t living up to their potential…
It may be because you don’t have the relationship with your children that you wish or thought you would…
You may feel that you aren’t getting the level of respect that you deserve…
You may even be a teacher or professional and feel as though you do better with other children than your own…
You may feel guilty because of the number of hours you spend working…
Or feel guilty of the fact that you haven’t been able to work.
I know there may be some people out there who feel they were or are the ‘perfect’ parents, but this article is for those who on some days feel as though they have failed at parenting.
Remember this, none of the anointed men and women of God were perfect parents.
But, here is an even more powerful, and liberating thought.
None of us are a better parent than God our heavenly Father.
He has never made a mistake in ‘parenting’ us, yet…
Many of His children still don’t live up to their potential…
Many of His children still don’t give Him the relationship that He deserves…
Many of His children still don’t give Him the level of respect that He deserves…
Many of His children live in open rebellion to Him.
Many of those who God created in His image don’t even acknowledge Him as their father
Think about how many times you, yourself have disappointed God.
So, the next time you feel you’ve failed as a parent, ask yourself…
Has God failed?
1 John 3:1 (NKJV)
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of [a]God! Therefore the world does not know [b]us, because it did not know Him.
So many times the bible is explicit, clear and ‘preaches & teaches itself’. We sometimes mess up by twisting and perverting it to fit our desired agendas, beliefs, denominations and personal theologies.
When it comes to sin, many Christians ‘cherry-pick’ through the bible selecting the sins that bother them the most while making excuses for, justifying or totally ignoring those which they have decided aren’t as bad.
There are several sins that anger God just as much as homosexuality that are quite frankly ‘practiced’ by many people who call themselves believers in God through Jesus Christ (Yeshua the Messiah).
The Apostle Paul does an excellent job of after calling out the sin of homosexuality, providing a list of sins that are equal abominations that qualify us all for the wrath of God. That’s why His grace and mercy are so valuable.
Read the verses below from Romans Chapters 1 & 2, and notice the sins that are listed after Paul addresses homosexuality. Think about which of those sins you are personally guilty of.
Notice it’s our attitude about these sins…
Whether or not we commit them…
Condone them…
And, judge those who struggle with sins different than those that we do…
Notice how those attitudes and behaviors are what qualify us as worthy of God’s wrath.
Romans 1:24-2:5 (NKJV)
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their [a]women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the [b]men, leaving the natural use of the [c]woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, [d]sexual immorality, wickedness, [e]covetousness, [f]maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 [g]undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, [h]unforgiving, unmerciful;32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
Godโs Righteous Judgment
2 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your [i]impenitent heart you are [j]treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
Did you notice sins such as strife, deceit, backbiting, pride, boasting, disobedient to parents, unloving, unforgiving and unmerciful. Many of those sins are characteristic of many people who claim to be believers.
Pride and boasting have become accepted sins in today’s society, even in the church.
Now is a good time to repent of our ‘sins of choice’ and thank God for His goodness, forbearance, longsuffering, abundant grace, and mercy.
14 And God said to Moses, โI AM WHO I AM.โ And He said, โThus you shall say to the children of Israel, โI AM has sent me to you.โโ
When God tells Moses who to say sent him when he goes into Egypt, He says tell them, โI AMโ.
I AM is less about his name and what He’s called and more about His nature. Every time God says I AM, He letโs us know more about who He isโฆwhat He isโฆwhat He does.
Look what God says behind, โI amโโฆ
“I am your shield…”
“I am the Lord…”
“I am God…”
“I am the Lord your God…”
“I am the Lord who sanctifies you…”
“I am giving…”
“I am holy…”
“I am with you…”
“I am He who blots out…”
“I am the First and the Last…”
“I am He who comforts you…”
“I am merciful…”
“I am Holy…”
“I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob…”
“I am the Christ…”
“I am able…”
“I am the Son of God…”
“I am One…
“I am from above…
“I am the bread of life…”
“I am the living bread…”
“I am from Him , and He sent Me…”
“I am the Light of the World…”
“Before Abraham Was, I AM…”
“I am the door…”
“I am the good shepherd…”
“I am the resurrection and he life…”
“I am the way, the truth and the life…”
“I am in My Father and the Father in Me…”
“I am the vine…”
“I am not of this world…”
“I am the King…”
“I am the Alpha and he Omega, the First and the Last…”
“I am He who lives…”
“I am alive forevermore…”
“I am He who searches the hearts and minds…
“I am coming quickly!”
BEHIND every โI AMโ from the Lordโฆthere is meaning, purposeโฆaction!
BEHIND every โI AMโโฆHe defines himself.
AND SO DO WEโฆ
Remember what Jesus said…
Luke 6:45(NKJV)
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. FOR OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART HIS MOUTH SPEAKS.
Ephesians Chapter 5 is one of the most powerful scriptures that gives the true meaning for good preaching beyond salvationโฆ
Ephesians 4:11-16 (NKJV)
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the headโChristโ 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
In short, good preaching not only saves the soul, but equips Godโs people to be mature, productive, in agreement and not easily swayed.
The scripture above defines โgood preachingโ, but unfortunately the opinion of โgood preachingโ depends on the church culture. And, unfortunately, good preaching to many isnโt defined by the content, but by the delivery.
Yes, a good preacher has to be able to engage the audience and keep their attention, but there is a thin line sometimes between PREACHING and PERFORMANCE.
I’m also a firm believer that charisma helps a preacher be effective in deliveryโฆ
BUT,
We must not confuse charisma with anointing. Some people can get up and recite โMary Had a Little Lambโ with such passion and exuberance that they can have a room full of people shoutingโฆat nothing.
Here are 4 quick ways to tell PREACHING from a PERFORMANCE
SCRIPTURE
Have you ever heard a sermon that didnโt have a scriptural foundation? A text? What was that? It was nothing more than a motivational speech or a pep talk.
Beware of sermons that either haveโฆ
No scriptureโฆ
Not enough scriptureโฆ
Or, twisted scriptureโฆ
Remember, a sermon without a strong scriptural foundation is nothing more than a motivational speech or a pep talkโฆwhich have their place. But real preachingโฆ
Saves usโฆ
Challenges usโฆ
Corrects us…
Convicts usโฆ
Sometimes upsets usโฆ
Encourages usโฆ
Inspires us…
Teaches us…
It doesnโt JUST make us feel good and entertain usโฆALL the time.
CLICHES & CONJECTURE
As I said in a previous post, that a well-placed clichรฉ can enhance a sermon and really help engage the listeners. However, be very careful when youโre listening to a sermon that isโฆ
FULL of clichรฉsโฆ
Full of the popular religious catch phrases of the timeโฆ
Full of language that is only intended for emotionalism and not edification.
You have to read the bible for yourself so you can know whatโs scripture and whatโs a clichรฉ. I once heard someone say, โLike the bible says, give them their flowers while they liveโโฆuhhh, thatโs NOT in the bible.
You have to study the word for yourself so you can watch out for putting too much of personal opinion into how the scriptures are interpreted. To make sure the sermon is not full of conjecture and conclusions based on the preachers opinion rather than inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
DID IT APPEAL TO YOUR FLESH OR YOUR SPIRIT?
Yes, God wants us to have a good life on this earth. Yes, God wants us to enjoy ourselves according to His will.
But, be careful about sermons that ONLY appeal to โthe good life hereโ. Be careful of sermons that only appeal to please your flesh and not strengthen your spirit. Many prosperity preachers have congregations full of weak and ineffective believers because they never hearโฆ
The consequences of sinโฆ
The consequences of bad decisionsโฆ
The necessity of self-denial and denial of fleshโฆ
The sacrifice of Jesus on the crossโฆ
LEAVE OUT/ OR MISREPRESENT JESUS
Have you ever sat through an entire message only to not hear the mention of Jesus Christ once? Thatโs not preaching. In fact, the Apostle Paul warned the Galatians of those who come preaching โanother gospelโโฆ
Galatians 1:8-9 (NKJV)
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
Again, as sermon that leaves out Jesus Christ is nothing more than a motivational or inspirational speechโฆnot preaching. Sometimes this is meant to entertain, or convey what the preacher wanted to sayโฆrather than what God wanted the people to hear.
Listen carefully at how Jesus is presented. Jesus is the Living Word, the Son of the Living GodโฆHe and the Father are One.
Be very careful about those who present Him as a โgenie in a bottleโ who is on standby waiting to do what you want. Again, those messages are meant to appeal to your flesh.
I AM NOT CONDEMNING CHARISMATIC PREACHERS…
There is nothing wrong with a preacher who can with great energy and charisma deliver a message in a matter that the congregation is entertained as well as edified is fineโฆbut real preaching has substance.
Too many people who call themselves Christians have a perverted view of strength.
They equate being proud, angry, loud, aggressive, insulting, retaliatory, impulsive, impatient, mean, ruthless, hard-hearted, violent and unforgiving to being strong…
While equating being humble, meek, quiet, patient, kind, gentle, self-controlled, merciful, willing to yield, soft-hearted, forgiving and turning the other cheek to being weak.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
James 3:17 (NKJV)
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
On social media and verbally, people brag about how easy it is for them to…
Cut people off…
Hold onto a grudge…
Revert back to their less patient, less forgiving, more hard-hearted and ready to ‘strike-back’ self.
They say, “You don’t know who I used to be” with pride rather than regret.
They boast, “I haven’t always been saved”.
They assert, “I can come down to your level.”
They lament about not being able to ‘cuss you out’, and brag about how they would have ‘back in the day’.
They infer that in some situations, they have to let Satan handle it instead of God through their behavior.
All-the-while these people who claim to be in the Body of Christ are impressed by people who ‘keep it real’ and say ‘just what’s on their mind’, even though the word of God prohibits that behavior…
Proverbs 29:11 (NKJV)
11 A fool vents all his feelings,[a] But a wise man holds them back.
When called out on either engaging in or celebrating overly assertive behavior that clearly doesn’t meet God’s expectations, they quickly want to call out Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) turning over money changers in the temple…as if that was an example of strong behavior, but allowing Himself to be beaten and hung on the cross wasn’t.
But, even when the Lord was turning over money changers, He didn’t strike one person. New Testament Christians love to revert to the violent Old Testament to justify their visceral behavior rather than the New Testament that doesn’t give ONE example of Jesus allowing us to violently respond…
Matthew 5:38-40 (NLV)
38 โYou have heard that it has been said, โAn eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.โ 39 But I tell you, do not fight with the man who wants to fight. Whoever hits you on the right side of the face, turn so he can hit the other side also. 40 If any person takes you to court to get your shirt, give him your coat also.
When challenging so-called ‘strong words’, too many people mention when Jesus was calling the Pharisees hypocrites, a brood of vipers and sharply rebuking them, as if remaining silent before Pilate wasn’t strength.
People brag, “MY CUT-OFF GAME IS SO STRONG!”
People are competitive about how assertive and aggressive they can be to ‘get ahead’ in the world.
What if people bragged, “MY FORGIVENESS AND KINDNESS GAME IS SO STRONG!”
What if people were competitive about how gentle and willing to yield they can be to ‘get ahead’ in the Kingdom of God?
God doesn’t conform to the demands of our culture and standards…
We conform to His.
Matthew 5:5 (NKJV)
5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the [a]earth.
“Have you not made a hedge around him, around his house, and all that he has on every side?” Job 1:10a
The devil is real, and an adversary that we canโt ignore. However, God has given us the power to resist him though our Lord and Savior, Yeshua, Jesus Christ.
We learn much about the devil when we read about his encounter with Job. Iโm not going to tell the story of Job, but I want to call out some insights that can help us deal with and claim the power that God has given us over the enemy…
2 Corinthians 2:11 (NKJV)
11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices
Revelation 20:10(NKJV)
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[a] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
THE DEVIL IS NOT OMNIPOTENT
The devil DOES NOT have all power, and the power that he does have, is only what God ALLOWS him for a season. When God pointed out one of his most devoted children, Job, the devil complained that he COULD NOT touch him because he enjoyed Godโs protection and favorโฆ
Job 1:10 (NKJV)
10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
โฆThe enemy COULD NOT touch Job or his family unless God allowed him access to them.
God allowed temporary access to Job for a purpose, but did not allow the enemy to take his lifeโฆ.
Job 1:12 (NKJV)
12 And the Lord said to Satan, โBehold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.โ So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
The same holds true in our lives, the enemy has no power over our lives that hasnโt been allowed by God. He will allow temporary access for a purpose, but when we remain faithful, we are guaranteed power over the enemyโฆ
The devil doesnโt even have power or authority over Hell, but he will share everlasting punishment and separation from God with all those who follow him. God will eventually strip the enemy of all power at the appointed timeโฆ
Revelation 20:10(NKJV)
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[a] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
THE DEVIL IS NOT OMNIPRESENT
The devil CANNOT be everywhere at the same time. Only God is omnipresent…
1 Kings 8:27 (NKJV)
27 โBut will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!
The enemy is a spiritual being with limitations. Even he responded when asked by God from where was he coming (for our benefit because God already knew)โฆ
Job 1:7 (NKJV)
7 And the Lord said to Satan, โFrom where do you come?โ So Satan answered the Lord and said, โFrom going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.โ
You canโt physically go somewhere that you already are. God doesnโt have to go anywhere, because He is already there.
The devil has agents, those fallen angels that were cast out of heaven with him (demons) to assist him in interacting with our lives.
Only the Spirit of God is everywhere at the same time.
THE DEVIL IS NOT OMNISCIENT
The devil does not know everything. The devil does not have all knowledge, but only that that God allows.
He doesnโt not know EVERYTHING about your life. He knows your familyโs historyโฆhe knows your historyโฆhe observes your strengths and weaknesses and tries to manipulate both you and them. And most importantlyโฆ
He doesnโt know your future. The enemy did not know if Job could resist that terrible trial. One of the reasons that God allowed it is because He already knew and want to prove to Satan and leave an example for us of Jobโs faithfulness.
He doesnโt even know when his end will be, thatโs why he relentlessly goes to and fro seeking who he may devourโฆtrying to steal, kill and destroy.
Go back and read the account of Job. Look closely at the fact that through it all, the enemy was still subject not only to God, but to Jobโs faithfulness.
Be encouraged, we have power over the enemy if we remain aware of his limitations, how he works and most of all, remain faithful to God.
James 4:7 (NKJV)
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
In His darkest moment, those closest to Him abandoned Himโฆ
Matthew 26:31 (NKJV)
Then Jesus said to them, โAll of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: โI will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.โ
But, I think that Jesus was cool with that. I know He wasnโt surprised. It was prophesied and He knew they would all scatter.
He knew Peter would follow, but far away. He knew he would deny Him three times to the point of cursingโฆ
Matthew 26:74
Then he began to curse and swear, saying, โI do not know the Man!โ
Many times, in the comfort and conveniences of our 21st Century lifestyles, we will read about or hear in a sermon about the disciples scattering and deserting Jesus just before He went to the cross. We may even think to ourselves, โWhat a shameโ.
We may wonder what we would have done had we been in that situation. I can quickly and confidently answer thatโฆwe would have done the same thing.
How do I know that?
Because it was Godโs will that they scatter.
What could they have done to prevent Jesusโ crucifixion? Nothingโฆbecause it was Godโs will.
What good would it have done if they had died with Him, because thatโs exactly what would have happened had they stood with Him.
Had they stood with Jesus at that time and were crucified with Him, how would we have gotten the Gospels? Who would have told us of what they experienced while they were with Him?
He was preparing them to spread the Gospel, not to die with Him.
He was preparing them to GOโฆ.not DIEโฆ.at least not yet.
Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Think about it like thisโฆ
Jesus could have stayed here longer. He could have put off the cross until His disciples were strongerโฆbut He didnโt.
Jesus left them while they were WEAK enough to scatter and desert Him, but STRONG enough to get it back together and continue.
I believe that Christ was glad they scattered.
So, stop worrying about those who haveโฆ
Left youโฆ
Abandoned youโฆ
Deserted youโฆ
Ignored youโฆor
Betrayed you.
Stop and look for God in it.
The next time that someone leaves youโฆlook for God in it.
And, remember, that sometimes we must share in His sufferingsโฆ
Romans 8:17 (NKJV)
And if children, then heirsโheirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Yes, they scattered and deserted Him, but thatโs not how the story endedโฆAnd, thatโs why I believe that Jesus was glad they left Him alone.
There’s nothing wrong with being recognized and awarded, but it can be a problem when we come to expect it. I was recently watching a Gospel music industry award show. The glitz. The glamour. The red carpet. The speeches… It almost seems like sometimes we’re saying, “The world has a red carpet, and we want one too!”
Here again, I’m not saying there is anything wrong with it, but we must be careful that those of us in Gospel aren’t conforming, but reforming.
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
And as I said, we also must be very careful that we don’t allow pride to slip in to the point that we EXPECT rewards, awards and recognition. I wonder how many artists, songwriters, producers, etc., were actually disappointed or angry they didn’t win, or jealous of those who did? How many thought in their hearts, “They didn’t deserve it!”. Not to mention the thousands of people laboring for Christ, whose work is just as good, but are never recognized. In fact, in many cases, it tends to be the same group of people who continue to win or be honored.
We are human, and sometimes we can feel hurt when we see others getting all of the attention…especially when God’s anointing is working powerfully in your life.
On those days, remember this…
Remember that during His earthly ministry Jesus wasnโt:
Nominated for an awardโฆ
Accepted by the establishmentโฆ
Appreciated by those who needed Him mostโฆ
The ONE and ONLY time He was triumphantly celebrated (Matthew 21:1-11)โฆ
Some of the same people shouted for, consented to, mocked at and celebrated His death (Matthew 27:16-26).
If you feel that you arenโt โgetting what you deserveโ…
If you feel that others are getting recognition while youโre being ignoredโฆ
Donโt get caught up complaining, whining, lashing out at the world for ignoring you.
Stay focused and work your ministry.
Our Lord has been waiting over 2000 years for His glory. If He can wait. So can we.
John 17:24 (NKJV)
24 โFather, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
Iโve found the most intimate refreshing place to pray at my home. I love sitting in my chair on my front porch and enjoying quality time with God in prayer. When I’m out there, it’s like it’s just Him and me. Yes I pray everywhere. But, that place is special.
And yes, I said sitting.
You see, it’s good to get on your knees in submission to God, but contrary to what many may have been taught it’s not mandatory. That is not the exclusively acceptable prayer posture.
Your proper prayer posture isn’t the position of your body, but of your heart and spirit…
To a humble spirit… it’s about humility.
Psalm 51:17 (NKJV)
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heartโ These, O God, You will not despise
1- On Your Knees
Ephesians 3:14 (NKJV)
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[a]
2 – In Your Bed
Psalm 4:4 (NKJV)
Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.
3 – Out Loud
Psalm 34:6 (NKJV)
This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
4 – Silently
1 Samuel 1:13 (NKJV)
13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.
5 – Hands Lifted
1 Timothy 2:8 (NKJV)
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
6 – Eyes Open
John 17:1 (NKJV)
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: โFather, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,
7 – Head Bowed
Genesis 24:26 (NKJV)
26 Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord.
8 – Prostrate
Matthew 26:39 (NKJV)
39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, โO My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.โ
9 – Standing
Mark 11:25 (NKJV)
โAnd whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
God just wants you to be humble. Many have even misunderstood โcome boldlyโ in the book of Hebrewsโฆ
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
It’s not about ‘telling God what to do’, but direct access to Him. We don’t have to go through a priest, or a preacher to talk to Him…just submit to Him humbly in prayer through our Lord and Savior Yeshua, Jesus Christ.
So, bow your head, lie in your bed, fall on your knees, lift up your hands, as long as you’re sincere…God will hear.
Most of us lead very busy lives. How many times have you thought, said or heard someone say…I don’t have time to read, or study my bible, pray or go to church?
How many feel that God happily accepts being an after thought or ignored?
How many feel it’s okay to say you believe, but never live like God is real or like they are in true relationship with Him?
How many people say through…
Jobs…
Careers…
Family…
Organizations…
Youth Sports and Activities…
Even church activities…
That they don’t have time for God, prayer, reading and studying their bible or worship?
The truth is that God doesn’t give us blessings to replace Him.
Our blessings should never become barriers or burdens to our relationship with Him.
Here are a few simple, easy suggestions to carve out quality time with God.
1. WHEN YOU CAN’T SLEEP AT NIGHT
We all have those nights when we canโt sleep. You may not even necessarily be worried. You may be excited about the next day. You may have awaken to use the bathroom and couldnโt go back to sleep. For whatever reason, you just lie there in the bed. You may turn on the television. Maybe God is trying to squeeze in some quality time with you before you get busy during the day. Itโs the ideal time to be close to Him. No distractions. No noise. Just you and God. You can lie there and prayโฆget on your kneesโฆget up and lift up your hands and praise GodโฆYou can go outside and adore His awesome creationโฆYou can read your bible, or even study a specific topic. God can give you fresh revelation during these intimate times. You will find yourself feeling so much closer to Him, but most of all you will please and bless Him. Best of all, you will find yourself yawning and going back into a wonderful restful sleep for the rest ot the night (or morning).
Psalm 16:7 (NKJV)
7 I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
Psalm 63:6 (NKJV)
6 When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.
2. WHEN YOU FIRST WAKE UP
I used to be in the habit of going to the gym early in the morning to start my day. I would say a short prayer and then go โwork out my bodyโ. I ruptured my Achilles tendon one day and found myself in a boot and a cast for several months. Not much later, God cultivated out of that the practice of going outside on my porch, and spending rich quality time in prayer and praise before I do anything else. I replaced worshiping my flesh in a sense with worshiping Him. Now, you donโt have to go outside, but itโs not difficult to kneel and pray as soon as you wake up. Before you drink your coffee. Before you watch the news. Before you check your social media. I think it is a foolish thing to begin the day without submitting ourselves to and talking to God first. Even if you donโt get on your kneesโฆlie in your bedโฆget up and bow your headโฆlift up holy handsโฆjust make sure your heart is humble and your prayer is sincere and not rushed.
Psalm 63:1 (NKJV)
63 O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.
3. WHEN YOU ARE USING THE BATHROOM IN THE MORNING.
This is something we all have to do when we wake up. Keep a bible in the bathroom, or use your bible app on your phone. This is another time when you are alone and can choose a verse of the day on which to meditate or even read a chapter each morning. A verse of the day is good for memory or meditation, but it should never take the place of real in-depth bible study. God doesnโt mind you making His word #1 while you do #2.
4. THANK GOD FOR AND BLESS EVERY MEAL (EVEN SNACKS)
Make it a point to thank God for every meal you eat. It doesnโt have to be a long drawn out prayer, but a sincere thank you for the awesome blessing of having food to eat. Donโt be ashamed to thank Him for your food while you are in publicโฆat lunch with co-workersโฆat a lunch meeting. Also, itโs very important to bless each meal and ask God that it nourish your body and not harm it. Much of our food we donโt prepare ourselves and we donโt know how it could harm are bodiesโฆAlways bless every meal and shack.
1 Timothy 4:4-5 (NKJV)
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
5. WHILE YOU’RE DRINKING YOUR COFFEE
Whether you have a relaxing cup of coffee, tea, juice or whatever your morning beverage may be, itโs an ideal time to read Godโs wordโฆprayโฆor even praise God each morning. What do you read or watch while you sip on your coffee? Why not make it Godโs word?
6. WHILE CHECKING YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA STATUS
How many times a day do your check your social media? Many people check their’s as soon as they wake upโฆthen claim they donโt have time to read the bible. Check out what God has posted in His word before you check out whatโs going on in social media. Thereโs nothing wrong with checking you Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or whatever. Of, course there are even devotionals on there just like this one, but never let it take the place of reading and studying your bible.
7. DURING YOUR LUNCH BREAK AT WORK OR AFTERNOON BREAK
Your lunch break is your time. Why not dedicate a few moment of it, or even an entire lunch break once a week to reading and studying Godโs word. You can even volunteer at a mission or serve others in some way during your lunch break from time to time. Itโs just another opportunity to spend quality time with God during your day. To prove to Him and yourself that you really value time with Him and love Him. You will find it to be not a burden or task, but a time of refreshing and fellowship to help you stay focused and make it through the rest of the day.
8. TAKE A VACATION DAY JUST TO SPEND WITH GOD
Most of us have vacation days. Have you ever taken a vacation day just to spend in prayer, study, praise and fellowship with God? Devoting one of your vacation days to God is an awesome mini-sabbatical opportunity to grow closer to the God of our salvation through our Lord and Savior, Yeshua, Jesus Christ.
9. LISTEN TO GOSPEL MUSIC SOMETIMES OTHER THAN IN WORSHIP
Of course thereโs nothing wrong with fun music or love songs as long as they donโt contain ungodly lyrics. But, thereโs a world of good Gospel music of every genre that you can use to turn your leisure time into worship time. It doesn’t have to be a hymnal. Like my wife, Gospel Jazz Artist Mechelle Johnson (Yep thatโs a plug:-) But, good Gospel music is another way to help stay focused while you work or play.
God knows that we make time for what and who are important to us. These are just a few suggestions of how to make more time for God. Thereโs no excuse to say we are too busy for Him.
Proverbs 3:6 (NKJV)
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct[a] your paths.
Asking forgiveness isnโt repentance. In fact, God doesnโt emphasize asking Him for forgiveness as much as He does telling us to confess our sins (Psalm 32:5, Psalm 38:18, 1 John 1:9) — then He will forgive us. Yes, we should ask God for His forgiveness, but He knows that words are cheap. How many times have you asked for forgiveness only to do it againโฆand sometimes again and again and again?
God demands repentance.
Repentance doesnโt begin with your MOUTH it begins with your MIND
Look at how God beautifully defines repentance and then gives us a beautiful promise through the prophet Isaiah. There are others like 2 Chronicles 7:14 and 2 Corinthians 7:10, but I love the way God says it here…Iโm just going to let you read it and allow it bless you because the Word speaks for itself.
Isaiah 55:6-7 (NKJV)
6 SEEK THE LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. 7 Let the wicked FORSAKE HIS WAY, And the unrighteous man HIS THOUGHTS; Let him RETURN to the Lord, And He WILL HAVE MERCY on him; And to our God, For He WILL ABUNDANTLY PARDON.
Have you ever noticed that some people are naturally funny? They have a wit so quick, you wonder, how could they think of that so fast.
Why?
Think about these verses in the context of laughter…
James 1:17 (NKJV)
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Romans 12:8 (NIV)
8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously;if it is to lead,[a] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Proverbs 17:22 (NKJV)
22 A merry heart does good, like medicine,[a] But a broken spirit dries the bones.
I’m convinced that comedy is a God-given spiritual gift of exhortation.
I mean, what is more encouraging than a good laugh? A well-placed laugh in a good sermon only helps keep the audience engaged and possibly drive a point home.
The bible tells us that one of the promises from God is that we will all see trouble during our days on this earthโฆ
Job 14:1(NKJV)
14 โMan who is born of woman
Is of few days and full of trouble.
Itโs Godโs gift of laughter that gets us through many of those tough days.
Iโm convinced that God has appointed some of us Ministers of Laughter…
So, do you know anyone with a special anointing to make the best situations better and inject some encouraging humor into the worst. Those who can make us smile when we feel like crying. Is it you?
Unfortunately, many comedians and comediennes use their gift to glorify the enemy through vulgarity and profanity, but that doesnโt mean the gift isnโt from God. Itโs just misdirected.
Are you a Minister of Laughter? If so, walk in your anointing. Youโre important to the Kingdom of God!
Most cake recipes call for a little salt. Many of us like to satisfy our sweet tooth with a good slice of cake. In fact, when itโs really good, one bite just makes you want another. The right amount of salt makes cakes taste just rightโฆmaking you want more with each bite. However, too much salt will make us quickly spit it out of our mouth.
Colossians 4:6 tells us to let our speech be full of grace and seasoned with salt. Ecclesiastes 7:16 says, โDo not be overly righteous,โ Nor be overly wise:..โ
Itโs good to have passion for the Kingdom of God, but when we are over-zealous, arrogant, mean-spirited self-righteous, we can turn people away rather than attract them to Christ. All things in moderation. If we are trying to talk about the Lord in EVERY conversation, claim we never do anything wrong, or down people who are unbelievers, we can make people avoid us, dread seeing us coming and destroy any influence we may have. But, if we cleverly chose the right moments to โsprinkle the salt of the wordโ when itโs applicable, people are more likely to listen, receive it, and even soften hardened hearts.
We need to โlove out loudโ and โlive out loudโ to let people see God in our character rather than beating them with the bible, making every conversation about God, or punctuating every sentence with a spiritual clichรฉ. Wisely โsprinkling the saltโ of Godโs word in conversations can make people hungry for more, and establish you as the go-to person on your job, your team, your school, your family when people want to know more about God. Being over zealous makes us seem crazy, and people can conclude, โI donโt want what they have.โ God expects us to use wisdom and do everyone His Spirit of excellence. Notice how Paul reasoned with the Epicureans, Stoics, and people of Athens with respect and wisdom in Acts 17. He didnโt โbeat them over the headโ or talk down to them. He wetted their appetite so that some wanted to hear more.
Psalm 19:10 proclaims Godโs word is sweeter than honey in the comb. Yes it is! I love it. But if we donโt handle it wisely, people will spit it out, and we can do more harm than good.
How many times have you prayed and God answered your prayers?
Heโs done it more times than I can count, sometimes prayers that were for me and sometimes prayers I have made for others.
What unbelievers, skeptics, and critics call COINCIDENCE…believers call CONFIRMATION.
But, one of the things I really love about God is when He sometimes hits the bullseye by answering a prayer so specifically that there is absolutely no way it can be a coincidence.
Every now and then God does something completely amazing to be a reminder in your moments of doubt so that they donโt become seasons of doubt.
How about stopping what youโre doing right now and give Him some love by praising Him. Tell Him thank you! Tell Him you love Him! And, tell Him you trust Him Iโm the name of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).
Psalm 28:6-7 (NKJV)
6 Blessed be the Lord, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications! 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.
Have you ever noticed how a negative person can sap the energy out of a room? Have you ever noticed how negativity can steal the joy from a moment? Have you ever noticed how a person who complains can convince a person who is completely content and satisfied to be unhappy?
Remember that God had promised Israel victory, but they had to go in and claim the Promised Land that He had committed to giving them. As they travelled in the wilderness, Moses sent out spies to ‘check out the land’. To make a long story short, Joshua and Caleb brought back positive news in the form of a good report. However, the other spies brought back negative news and pessimism in the form of a ‘bad report’…
Numbers 13:21-33 (NKJV)
21 So they went up and spied out the land from the Wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, near the entrance of Hamath. 22 And they went up through the South and came to Hebron; Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) 23 Then they came to the [a]Valley of Eshcol, and there cut down a branch with one cluster of grapes; they carried it between two of them on a pole. They also brought some of the pomegranates and figs. 24 The place was called the Valley of [b]Eshcol, because of the cluster which the men of Israel cut down there. 25 And they returned from spying out the land after forty days.
26 Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 Then they told him, and said: โWe went to the land where you sent us. It truly [c]flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.โ
30 Then Caleb quieted thepeople before Moses, and said, โLet us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.โ
31 But the men who had gone up with him said, โWe are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.โ 32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, โThe land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 There we saw the [d]giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like[e] grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.โ
Numbers 14:1-4 (NKJV)
14 So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. 2 And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, โIf only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! 3 Why has the Lord brought us to this land to [a]fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?โ 4 So they said to one another, โLet us select a leader and return to Egypt.โ
This pessimism and negativity pissed off the God of our Salvation because it discouraged the people! It pissed Him off A LOT!
Numbers 14:11-25 (NKJV)
11 Then the Lord said to Moses: โHow long will these people reject[a] Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the [b]signs which I have performed among them? 12 I will strike them with the pestilence and disinherit them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.โ
13 And Moses said to the Lord: โThen the Egyptians will hear it, for by Your might You brought these people up from among them, 14 and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, Lord, are among these people; that You, Lord, are seen face to face and Your cloud stands above them, and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. 15 Now if You kill these people as one man, then the nations which have heard of Your fame will speak, saying, 16 โBecause the Lord was not able to bring this people to the land which He swore to give them, therefore He killed them in the wilderness.โ 17 And now, I pray, let the power of my Lord be great, just as You have spoken, saying, 18 โThe Lord is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.โ 19 Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.โ
20 Then the Lord said: โI have pardoned, according to your word; 21 but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lordโ 22 because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice, 23 they certainly shall not see the landof which I [c]swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it. 24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it. 25 Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley; tomorrow turn and move out into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.โ
How many times have you negatively influenced someone who was perfectly content? How many times have you spread the contagious spirit of negativity?
God gets just as angry now as He did then. As a matter of fact, His extreme judgments in the Old Testament are recorded for us as examples of how angry pessimism, negativity and complaining makes Him…
1 Corinthians 10:1-10 (NKJV)
10 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, โThe people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.โ 8 Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; 9 nor let us [a]tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; 10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
As much as we are working hard to prevent the spread of contagious diseases, please make sure that you aren’t responsible for contributing to the pandemic of pessimism.
The enemy doesnโt mind you going to church as long as you take him with you. He wants to distract and infect your worship. One way he achieves this is through division in the local church. Division in the Body of Christ is strictly forbidden, and is sinโฆ
Galations 5:19-20
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, FACTIONS
1 Corinthians 1:10
10 โNow I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be NO DIVISIONS among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
We as people tend to want to be in groups of people with either common interests, or people who can benefit us. Sometimes these groups can form in the church with an unwillingness to let others inโฆthatโs a CLIQUE (FACTION) .
Church can become like high school โ The Cool Kids, The Jocks, The Nerdsโฆ
Church can become like the outside world โ The Haves and The Have Notsโฆ
Church can become like the secular (or Christian) music industry โ Pastor, his Entourage, his Groupies and Fansโฆ
Are you in one of these CLIQUES?
These are all distractions from the enemy to make our churches carnal, unfruitful and unproductive.
Donโt let your small group, your ministry group, your choir, your circle of friends be a CLIQUE in disguise.
Clique- ‘ISH’ even tried to creep into the early church…
1 Corinthians 11:18-22
18 โFor first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 19 For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you. 20 Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lordโs Supper. 21 For in eating, each one takes his own supper ahead of others; and one is hungry and another is drunk. 22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.โ
The Body of Christ is one body with many members (1 Corinthians 12:12) and EVERYBODY IS SOMEBODY!
Even though we as people have a tendency to be CLIQUE-‘ISH’โฆ. we need to keep that CLIQUE-‘ISH’ out of Godโs church.!
1. Slang term often used to replace โs**t.โ Derived from the process of editing the vocals of rap-songs by revershing the curse words so said song could be played on radio or television.
We encourage others when we testify of the depths of sin from which God delivered us… when we admit how low we allowed the devil to convince us to go. It can help others who are going through the same struggles, but be careful…especially with the details.
You must use wisdom, discernment and discretion when sharing your ‘testimony’. You don’t have to and sometimes can’t tell ALL YOUR BUSINESS and give all the details when sharing your lowest and worst. Why?
Because just as others can and will draw strength from your story of ‘how low you allowed yourself to go’, and how God delivered you…others can and will be discouraged or feel justified in their sin.
Some details are best not shared.
Some experiences that God allowed to remain secret, should remain secret.
We all know that Saul/Paul persecuted the church, but God didn’t give us all of the details.
We all know that Saul/Paul had a ‘thorn in the flesh’, but God didn’t allow us to know what it was.
We all know that Peter denied Christ, but we don’t know any of his other sins.
Think how Paul expressed his internal battle with good and evil…
Romans 7:15-20 (NKJV)
15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
Some people aren’t concerned about the spiritual lesson in your story, they’re just nosey.
Yes, we should encourage others who can benefit from what we’ve gone through, but pray for wisdom in what needs to remain between you and God.
Anyone who reads my writing knows I love to clarify anything that can be misunderstood or twisted. Anyone who has read my writing or watched any of our #SONdayBlessing videos knows I love, cherish, respect and honor my wife. I consider us to be equals in our marriage and I am fully aware of God telling us in 1 Peter that we are to honor our wives, and not doing so can hinder our prayersโฆ
1 Peter 3:7 (NKJV)
7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
I am fully aware and happily accept the husbandโs responsibility to love our wives as Christ loves the church. This is the sacrificial love thatโs is defined in Ephesiansโฆ
Ephesians 5:25-29 (NKJV)
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
That being said, now let us consider what the word of God says in 1 Corinthians Chapter 11โฆ
1 Corinthians 11:8-9 (NKJV)
8 For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9 Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.
I feel that each husband should treat his wife as if she is his QUEEN, and vice versa. However, anyone who believes the bible is the word of God knows what God said before He created womanโฆ
Genesis 2:18 (NKJV)
18 And the Lord God said, โIt is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.โ
God created man to be the head. But, as my father-in-law Pastor Lonnie Black has said for years…
“God created man to be the head and not the headache.” Pastor Lonnie Black
We live in a society today that more and more behaves as if man was created for woman than woman for man. That the husband is to submit to his wife, rather than woman submit to her husband.
Even thepopularcliche, HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE eludes to that.
We live in a society today where the husband is expected to โanswer to his wifeโโฆto go out of his way to make her happyโฆto work himself to the bone in order to get her whatever she wantsโฆto submit to her when there is a disagreementโฆthat if a woman allows her husband to โtell her what to doโ she is being weak. And, that if a husband isnโt giving his wife everything she desires, he is less than a husband.
Television, film, music and especially reality shows and social media support this (Think of all the “HOUSEWIVES” shows…there’s one to target various cultures). Itโs art imitating life and art further shaping behavior and the narrative of male/female relationships.
In a sense, we have made our QUEENSโฆKINGS.
Marriage is not 50/50, itโs 100/100. Itโs woman submitting to her husbandโs authority in the home and enjoying his covering and protection. But, at the same time, marriage is the husband not abusing his authority, and considering his wife as an equal in all decisions. However, when decisions are made in the home, God will hold the husband (head) accountable…especially in regard to worship being established.
If you havenโt already, step back and take a look at whatโs on television, movies and social media. Listen to much of the popular music these days. Listen to many of the conversations. Many people have gone beyond treating wives like QUEENS, to making them KINGS.
Husbands and wivesโฆletโs be good to one another. Letโs love, trust, honor and support one another, but letโs not forget Godโs order.
Have you ever noticed a child throwing a temper tantrum when he or she doesnโt get something that they want?
ย Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Some people are naturallyย more greedy, more lustful, more promiscuous, more selfish, more aggressive, more violent that othersโฆdoes that make it okay? For those who wish to argue these are learned behaviors, some people have these behaviors modeled and โlearnโ them, while others witnessed these behaviors and didnโt succumb to them.
Pedophiles donโt feel they โchooseโ to be attracted to childrenโฆdoes that make it okay? No!
The desires of our flesh war against our spiritโฆand these vary from person to person.
Galatians 5:17 (NKJV)
17ย For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
It is only by walking in the Fruit of the Spirit can we overcome our fleshly desires that displease God.
Galatians 5:16 (NKJV)
ย I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.ย
ย Galatians 5:22,23
ย 22ย But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,ย 23ย gentleness, self-control.
ย 20ย So Jesus said to them,ย โBecause of your unbelief;ย for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, โMove from here to there,โ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.ย 21ย However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting
Use this as post ammunition when someone presents to you the argument, โI was born this way, so it canโt be wrongโ.
Just because itโs natural, doesnโt mean itโs okay.
