PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR FAITH…

Yes we have faith in God, but what are we believing God for?

Many approach, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) carnally. We fully believe that if we have the faith AS a grain of mustard seed we can move mountains (Matthew 17:20), but we can get caught up trying to move the wrong mountains.

There is so much power available to change our lives and the lives of others, but sometimes we SQUANDER OUR FAITH on material things, trying to ‘come up’, and bring glory to ourselves…on the wrong things.

Many of us struggle all of our lives the personal issues that hold us back…

Lack of confidence,

Low self-esteem,

Impatience,

Narcissism,

Timidity,

Lack of motivation, etc….

You can look at some people and still see them as a child. You can tell who was the cry baby, who was the bully,…who took…

Minister Aldtric Johnson M.A.'s avatarBE BLESSTIFIED!

wp-1482415568805.jpg DON’T TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT WITH YOUR APOLOGY

Has anyone ever embarrassed, hurt or insulted you openly in public? Have you ever done so? Have you ever made public some information about someone later to find out that information was wrong? Have you ever defamed or slandered someone?

For whatever reason, we all openly hurt one another from time to time. Sometimes we do it on purpose, and sometimes it’s unintentional. These ‘public displays of ‘non-affection’ can leave bad impressions and potentially ruin reputations of all parties involved.

Many times when we realize what we’ve done, truly feel sorry and want to apologize.  We’ll pull the person or persons to the side and tell them, “I’m sorry… I was wrong”. This is good but not good enough…

YOU CAN FORGIVE ANYTHING…TODAY! #FORGIVENESS

wp-1488638862526.jpg

Ephesians 4:31-32 (NKJV)

31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you

MORE THAN CONQUERORS (Romans 8:37)

Isn’t it funny how some of us can claim to be more than conquerors…

Be filled with the Holy Spirit…

Blessed and highly favored…

Testifying every time we can get a chance…

Claim, “I love everybody!”…

…And REFUSE to forgive!

We can serve as a deacon, preach every weekend, sing in the choir, give to the poor…BUT WON’T FORGIVE.

There are preachers who get up and preach to some members whose souls they are responsible…and are withholding forgiveness from some of them.

Too many of us are holding on to…

Anger…

Animosity…

Hatred…

Resentment…

Bitterness…

Wrath…

PAIN…

What ever emotions, moods and attitudes that prevent us from FORGIVING.

Withholding forgiveness is one of the enemy’s most successful distractions.

We can’t love like God expects us to when we don’t forgive.

The enemy doesn’t mind you going to church or even serving in the Kingdom of God if you don’t forgive because it dims the light of God in you.

WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD (Matthew 5:14)…We can’t be light if we are DISTRACTED! Being unforgiving is a distraction…

Think about this…

The SUN provides light & the MOON reflects…

Sometimes Moon blocks light from Sun…This is an eclipse.

Sometimes Man blocks light from Son…This is a spiritual eclipse.

Distractions block eclipse our light from the SON…

Anger is a spiritual eclipse…

Bitterness is a spiritual eclipse…

Being unforgiving is a spiritual eclipse!

Our marriages, families…relationships CAN NOT exist WITHOUT forgiveness, but sometimes it’s so hard because of the pain…Because we are flesh.

Matthew 26:41 (NKJV)

41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

God understands we are flesh, but he also expects more from us. It is not God’s will for us to go day in and day out holding on to STUFF!

Matthew 18:21-22 (KJV)

21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

FORGIVENESS CAN BE A STRUGGLE FOR MOST CHRISTIANS.

We can put effort into ‘conquering’ everything, but forginvenss….getting a house, car, job, promotion, man, woman, getting a closet full of shoes, purses, ties…our neighborhoods full of crime, immorality, poverty, while many Christians are worried about conquering the ‘good life’.

That’s why some of us give, just so we can get….to some giving is a BLE$$ING bill. That’s why sometimes cousins, sisters, brothers  and relatives keep coming asking for money cause that’s the only way God can get some people to spend money on someone besides themselves. Does anyone owe you money and you haven’t forgiven them?

The enemy knows God ONLY forgives us AS we forgive others…(Matthew 6:12)

That means if there is something that you haven’t forgiven someone for…your sin that you asked forgiveness for is still there.

Don’t let someone die before you let them know THEY ARE FORGIVEN!

Is anyone you refuse to forgive WORTH forfeiting your forgiveness over? Don’t let your feelings towards them come between you and God.

Remember, there’s someone out there that you have hurt too…

You may not know what you did, but most of the time you do!

THE ENEMY KNOWS WHAT’S HARDEST FOR YOU TO FORGIVE…

The enemy knows how to present the right situation to you…

The right person…

That one thing that he knows that’s most difficult for you to forgive…

That’s the thing that he will use.

It could be your wife, your husband, your sister or brother, mother or father, best friend…it could be a pastor, that job who fired you, that team that didn’t pick you….you know what it is.

Stop right now and think about that one thing you are still holding on to.

God WANTS…DESIRES…TO FORGIVE US!

Think about how much we hurt God and He forgives us…

Psalm 103:8-12 (NKJV)

8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
9 He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

We (his church) are the bride of Christ…we ‘cheat on God’ every time we sin/ That’s why I know we can even forgive infidelity.

Every shameful thing done in the presence of His angels supposed to be there to protect you

He is there when we are tempted

He is there when we think about the fact that this is wrong and we still decide to do it

He is there when we do it.

That same conversation that the enemy had with God about Job, he had about you…Consider my servant ____________ !

Job 1:8a (NKJV)

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job…”

God witnesses us every time we cheat on Him…Every time we put Him to open shame…

He is willing to forgive us…

How could He be so willing to forgive? Because He WANTS to forgive us!

Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool…

God is practically begging us to come to Him for forgiveness.

God wants to forgive you! God gets angry, but He doesn’t stay angry!

Psalm 103:8-9 (KKJV)

The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.

God can forgive us over and over because He DESIRES to do so! And He doesn’t WANT to stay angry.

God CHOOSES to forgive us!

Forgiveness is OUR CHOICE.

You can’t control how people treat you, but you can control how you react.

When we are honest with ourselves, we don’t forgive because WE DON’T WANT TO.. WE want to stay angry!

If we forgive…we take away our ‘excuse’ to be angry…

You can even hear the person who hurt you has made a change for the good, and it can make you angry…you don’t want them to do better. This can lead you to judge them saying, “They’re change isn’t sincere!” You can get to the point that you don’t even care about their salvation.

We don’t want to forgive due to our pain…

We don’t want to forgive because of our pride…

We don’t want to forgive because of our shame…

No matter how heavy it is, uncomfortable it is…we still hold on to it, because we want to do so! When our arms up…after a while we have to put it down, because they get too heavy

That’s what we have to do with our pain…put it down.

How?

Stop asking God to TAKE AWAY what He told you to PUT DOWN!

If your spouse is cheating, and you love them, do you want to make them stop, or for them to stop on their own?

Notice God Always tells you to put it down…

Colossians 3:8 (NKJV)

But now YOU YOURSELVES are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV)

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

FORGIVENESS IS EASIER THAN YOU MAY THINK! AND WHEN IT HAPPENS…IT’S INSTANT!

No matter how slow or gradual any transition may seem…when you think about it, the change…the moment of change…the instant of change…no matter how minute the shift in thought or direction – THE CHANGE IS ALWAYS INSTANT!

MAKE UP YOUR MIND, AND IT WILL CHANGE!

This is simple but powerful…

TELL YOURSELF AND MAKE UP OUR MIND… “I DON’T WANT TO BE MAD ABOUT THAT ANYMORE!”

I’m tired of being angry…

I’m tired of being sad…

I’m tired of being bitter…

I’m tired of being resentful…

I’m tired of avoiding them…

I’m tired of wanting everybody else to be mad at them too…

I REFUSE TO FEEL THIS WAY ANYMORE!!!!!

Romans 12…Be transformed by the renewing of you MIND!

Refuse to let your emotions dictate how you feel and behave.

Controlling your EMOTIONS is the closest you can come to controlling your world.

Hebrews 12…How did Jesus react to Emotion? He “scorned” the shame of the cross for the “joy” thats set before him.

Once you make up your mind, and REFUSE to be angry….it will go away.

Once you make up your mind, and REFUSE to be angry….you can forgive.

Once you make up your mind, and REFUSE to be angry…you can forget.

Let me define forget…you will still think of it, but not the same way! You will forget that frame of mind…such as “What was I thinking when I dated him or her!”

Once you make up your mind, and REFUSE to be angry…you won’t even need an apology.

Why do you not need an apology? Because God still keeps showing you His love and kindness…even when you haven’t apologized or repented…

He keeps letting your heart beat…

He keeps feeding you and letting you live in the home He provided…

He keeps giving you strength to work…

He keeps on protecting you from harm…

He’s willing to forgive, even when He knows you will do it again.

One of the best exercises you can have in patience is to hold it together when you are being mistreated. Going on without an apology…showing character and patience of God will help you grow.

Once you make up your mind, and REFUSE to be angry…you can actually feel sorry for the one who hurt you. GUESS what? You are doing what God does! You are learning to love and learning to forgive like GOD!

That’s how you can even feel sorry for your enemies.

Jesus died on the cross to give the opportunity of salvation to those He knew would not only ask appreciate it, ask Him for forgiveness, or even believe in Him.

Exercise in forgiveness…Pray for God’s Spirit and Get a picture or go to a place, whatever reminds you of your pain. And practice looking at it and telling yourself..I don’t want to be mad at you…I don’t want to be bitter…sad and tell yourself that you won’t…

That’s what God does to us.

Sometimes people will try you back acting like they DON’T APPRECIATE YOUR FORGIVENESS…Be strong, cause that’s how we treat God sometimes.

Let your light shine…Get back your peace….Forgive as God is willing to forgive you!

YOU CAN GET OVER ANYTHING…TODAY!

20160916_084238.png SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO REWIND

Many times after we have hurt someone, and they have ‘forgiven’ us, it angers us and hurts us when they bring it back up. We quickly remind them that ‘you are supposed to forgive and forget’. We remind them of Isaiah 43:25, “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” This is true, but must be understood in proper context. God forgives us and doesn’t hold our sins against us WHEN WE REPENT. But, what is repentance? Repentance is godly sorrow over what we’ve done (2 Corinthians 7:10). Repentance is a change of heart, and doing our best to never do that again. Repentance is making every effort to not put ourselves in the path of temptation for those sins. Repentance is an all out, sincere effort to turn around. But, Israel…

WHEN YOU CAN’T SMELL YOURSELF STINK ANYMORE…

wp-1488387186094.jpgOne of the things that reminds me that our bodies and our flesh are temporary is when we stink. As good as you may smell right now, think of the effort we as humans have to put into avoiding smelling bad.

We have to bathe regularly…

Brush and floss our teeth…

Shampoo our hair…

Apply deodorants…

Perfumes…

Colognes…

We as humans have to work at smelling good. Whether we admit it or not, we all smell bad sometimes.

Sometimes if we have been working hard…been sick…or whatever, we can begin to smell unpleasant…YOU STINK.

Have you ever been in need of ‘freshening up’ and were actually able to smell yourself?

You may have raised up your arm, caught a whiff of your own breath…or whatever and said to yourself , “Wow! I stink!

What’s interesting is that if you don’t get an opportunity to bathe soon, you won’t notice the odor anymore…you’ve gotten used to your own stench.

BUT, even though you CAN’T smell it, everyone else still CAN.

Our sin STINKS to God.

Isaiah 65:5 (NLT)

Yet they say to each other,
‘Don’t come too close or you will defile me!
    I am holier than you!’
These people are a stench in my nostrils,
an acrid smell that never goes away.

Just as we all have to work to avoid smelling bad, we have to all work to avoid sinning.

Just as our bodies can smell bad, our spirits ‘smell bad’ when they are consumed with the works of the flesh, or sin…

Galatians 5:19-21 (NKJV)

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

If we aren’t careful, we can become complacent in sin…bad habits…bad attitudes…inappropriate lifestyles…behavior that’s displeasing to God.

We can become complacent and comfortable to the point that we begin excusing, justifying or ignoring where we are wrong…

WE CAN’T SMELL OURSELVES STINK ANYMORE…

But others can still smell us…

AND, God can still smell us!

Have you ever gotten caught up in sin to the point that you began to…

Accept it?

Become comfortable in it?

Tell yourself, “It doesn’t matter anymore”?

Feel you couldn’t come back from it?

Say to yourself, “Why try to do better?

YOU COULDN’T SMELL YOURSELF STINK ANYMORE!

The bible tells us to cleanse ourselves of what defiles our body and spirit…

2 Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV)

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV)

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

2 Corinthians 7:10 (NKJV)

10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

We have to recognize what IS sin…by reading God’s word from His perspective.

We have to acknowledge our sin…admit to ourselves that we are hurting God.

We have to regret our sin…if we are still proud of what we’ve done there is no forgiveness.

We have to repent of our sin…we have to ‘turn around’ and not put ourselves in situations to be tempted by our weaknesses.

Even though sin stinks to God, He has made it clear to us what makes us ‘smell good’ to Him.

Accepting His Son

2 Corinthians 2:15 (NKJV)

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

Wash yourself in the Word of God

 Ephesians 5:25-26

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,

Walk in Love  (Read 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 to learn how love behaves)

Ephesians 5:2 (NKJV)

And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Practice the Fruit of the Spirit

 Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Remember…we have to work to avoid smelling bad…EVERY DAY!

Put effort into making sure your spirit smells good to God…EVERY DAY!

Don’t get to the point that you can’t smell yourself stink anymore.

BE CAREFUL HOW YOU SAY, “GOD IS NOT THROUGH WITH ME YET…”

There’s a very popular Comedian/Actor/Show Host who has an exceptionally successful career. One of the many hats he wears is that of a radio show host…the show is fast paced, fun and entertaining.

However, he begins his radio show each morning with a very emotional and impactful spiritual monologue. His statements are encouraging and inspirational, and he always gives God glory, BUT during the remainder of his show, he often uses strong language, frequently using profanity that the bible clearly tells us that we shouldn’t do…

Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV)

29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

 Ephesians 5:3-4 (NKJV)

But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

In reference to ‘cussing’, he will often assert, “God is not through with me yet.” Which is true, but we ALL need to be very careful about our attitude when it comes to this statement.

First of all, I’M NOT JUDGING THIS MAN because we have all (and still do) sin and fall short of the glory of God. We all have room to grow. I have respect both for him and his accomplishments, but I have to be responsible as a minister of God.

Calling out sin, correcting, encouraging, admonishing, instructing and warning one another is not judging…it’s our responsibility.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV)

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

When you have a level of prominence that allows you to reach and influence millions, you bear a great level of responsibility when you are speaking on behalf of God in the name of Yeshua, Jesus Christ.

Here are two problems with sometimes FLIPPANTLY saying what we want…doing what we want…then stating… “God ain’t through with me yet!”

First of all, we must not be guilty of validating our sinful behavior and bad habits to those who may be weaker in the faith or unbelievers by ‘justifying’ our behavior at the time with, “God is not through with me yet”…

Second, we must not use “God is not through with me yet” to hold on to habits, behavior and attitudes that we simply aren’t trying hard enough to stop. Especially when we know better and can do better.

The word of God has commanded us throughout the New Testament to…

“Put off” Colossians 3: 8, Ephesians 4:22 (NKJV)

“Put away” Ephesians 4:25 (NKJV)

“Let all…be put away from you” Ephesians 4:31 (NKJV)

“Lay aside” Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV)

God has given us the power and responsibility to stop ourselves.

Many people pray that God will, “Take the sin out of me”…however, there’s no personal level of accountability, effort, commitment or love and dedication in being so weak that God has to make us stop.

We as believers must be very careful not to take for granted or take advantage of God’s abundant grace and mercy.

Remember what God told us through the Apostle Paul…

Romans 6:1-2 (NKJV)

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

So many times we can find ourselves saying…

“God knows my heart.”

Or

“I’m taking baby steps”

We want to always make sure that we aren’t taking baby steps, when God is ready for us to walk.

You don’t want God to become ‘through with you’ before you put forth enough effort to change.

26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

GOD’S TANGIBLE INTANGIBLES…

wp-1488173185876.jpg

An intangible is something with no physical substance. It can’t be touched or seen…it’s immaterial.

God is intangible…we can’t see Him, but His creation is evidence of His presence…everywhere.

Romans 1:20

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

It’s interesting that it’s the intangibles in life that are so valuable, that those things that hold so much value can NEVER…

Be bought, but are yet so valuable…

Be seen, but are most real…

Be held, but fill you up…

Be touched, but touch you…

They’re God’s TANGIBLE INTANGIBLES.

They’re like God..not physical, or material…Just like God, they can’t be seen, but they leave so much evidence of their presence. Think about it…

Love…

Faith…

Joy…

Hope

Peace…

Patience…

Kindness…

Self-control…

I’m sure you can think of more.

They’re nouns that can’t be seen…

They’re verbs that pack so much power…

They’re from God, and He transfers them from His spirit to ours.

It’s a gradual, but sudden transfer as you feel yourself going from…

Unloved to loved…

Faithless to faithful…

Sad to Joyful…

Hopeless to Hopeful…

Chaos to peace…

Impatience to patience…

Mean to Kindness…

Undisciplined to disciplined…

You can’t see it, touch it, smell it, buy it, or sell it…

They change you…

They change your world…

They change the world of everyone around you…

They allow the world to see God in you…

They’re God’s TANGIBLE INTANGIBLES…

Minister Aldtric Johnson M.A.'s avatarBE BLESSTIFIED!

I sometimes think about the fact that times I used to call boring I now call relaxing. We need to be careful when we get bored. Boredom is an emotion that can get us in trouble if we aren’t careful. When people get bored, that’s when the devil can get busy.

Remember what happened in 2 Samuel 11 when the kings went out to battle, David sent Joab his servant and all of Israel out to battle, but he stayed behind? One evening while he was ‘relaxing’ on the rooftop, he saw Bathsheba bathing. Her husband, Uriah, was very devoted and loyal to David and he was among those in battle…and the rest is history. The point is that David was relaxing when he should have been doing battle. Now, there’s nothing wrong with relaxing, but there’s a time and a season for for all things (Ecclesiastes 3). There can…

YES, YOU’VE GOT TO LEARN TO RELATE WITH PEOPLE YOU DON’T TRUST…

wp-1488048352149.jpg

Your success, effectiveness and peace is not only determined by how well you relate with people you DO TRUST…but how well you are at relating with people that you DON’T TRUST.

Our ultimate trust is in God, but He didn’t put us on this earth alone.

God has also ordained it that there is little that we can accomplish alone.

Even God Himself uses His angels to relate to us…

Hebrews 11:14 (NKJV)

Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

God let the captives in Babylon know that though they trusted Him, they were to pray for the peace of the city in which they lived because their peace was dependent on the city’s peace…

Jeremiah 29:7(NKJV)

And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.

Jesus sent the first disciples out in pairs (Mark 6:7, Luke 10:1)

The apostles worked in pairs, teams and even depended heavily on the early church for help.

As much as we are interdependent on another in this life, God also warned us about putting our trust in people rather than Him…

Psalm 118:8 (NKJV)

It is better to trust in the Lord. Than to put confidence in man.

Of course we all want to be in relationships and situations with people we trust, but that’s not always possible…Sometimes we can’t even trust our own selves.

It seems it’s getting harder and harder to trust people these days.

We have families, jobs, churches, communities, organizations that we are all a part of in which to live, but the fact is that you KNOW you can’t trust everyone…

In your family…

On your job…

In your church…

In your community…

In our government…

Sometimes we go through seasons and situations when we can’t trust our spouse, children, parents or even friends…because we are human beings being human.

Do we abandon these relationships and resources because of the lack of trust or total trust?

Of course not!

Your ability to be successful, effective and have peace in your life is just as dependent upon your ability to work and relate with people you DON’T trust as well as those you DO trust.

How do you do it?

First of all trust God first. If He has you in a situation, or you have allowed yourself into a situation where trust is limited…you still have to lean on His word, truth, character and TRUST HIM.

Second pray for wisdom and discernment so you can know WHO to trust and WHO NOT to trust.

Third pray for those whom you don’t trust that they submit themselves to God through our Lord and Savior Yeshua, Jesus Christ. It’s bigger than just you or me…Ultimately it’s more about their relationship with God than ours with them.

Fourth, remain in God’s character so that you can set a standard and example of behavior and plant good seeds for God’s Kingdom. You do this by walking in the Spirit as defined in Galatians 5:22, 23.

Finally, remember that God had equipped you with everything you need for this LIFE and GODLINESS in this life, through His divine nature that is now inside you…

2 PETER 1:2-8 (NKJV)

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

No you can’t trust everyone…

But,

Trust God…

Trust Yourself…

And remember, GOD IS GREATER THAN THOSE WHOM YOU DON’T TRUST.

Add this to your prayer life…”Lord give me the ability to relate with those I don’t trust.”

WHO GOD ISN’T…

A genie in a bottle…

An errand boy…

A good luck charm…

A ‘man’ upstairs…

A co-pilot…

A liar…

A joke…

A myth…

Our world, even some believers are treating God with less reverence…less respect.

Let us remember to be careful how we speak, act and even think about The Great I Am, Yahweh, Elohim, Jehovah….not just what we call Him, but who He to us.

Remember, when we’re commanded to never take His name in vain…His ‘name’ goes beyond what we call Him…

His name is who He is…

His authority…

His character…

His essence…

Who He is.

I’m persuaded to believe that diminishing who God is through a lack of reverence equates to blasphemy.

Some days…Some days…. Some days life can be so HEAVY!

You get up and they follow you everywhere you go…

Even if you forget them for a brief period of happiness, they come rushing from the back of your mind whispering loudly…RHHEMMEMBER USSS???

Some days, even the strongest of us don’t feel we are going to make it.We  feel overwhelmed emotionally, physically, financially and most of all SPIRITUALLY.

There are days that we may not even feel like praying or worshiping. It’s okay, you can admit it. God knows your heart anyway…and that’s a blessing.

It’s a blessing that God knows His children… because  He knows we are flesh.

LESSONS ABOUT THE DEVIL FROM JOB…

wp-1487952847260.jpg
“Have you not made a hedge around him, around his house, and all that he has on every side?” Job 1:10a

The devil is real, and an adversary that we can’t ignore. However, God has given us the power to resist him though our Lord and Savior, Yeshua, Jesus Christ.

We learn much about the devil when we read about his encounter with Job. I’m not going to tell the story of Job, but I want to call out some insights that can help us deal with and claim the power that God has given us over the enemy…

2 Corinthians 2:11 (NKJV)

11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices

Revelation 20:10(NKJV)

10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[a] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

THE DEVIL IS NOT OMNIPOTENT

The devil DOES NOT have all power, and the power that he does have, is only what God ALLOWS him for a season. When God pointed out one of his most devoted children, Job, the devil complained that he COULD NOT touch him because he enjoyed God’s protection and favor…

Job 1:10  (NKJV)

10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

…The enemy COULD NOT touch Job or his family unless God allowed him access to them.

God allowed temporary access to Job for a purpose, but did not allow the enemy to take his life….

Job 1:12 (NKJV)

12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

The same holds true in our lives, the enemy has no power over our lives that hasn’t been allowed by God. He will allow temporary access for a purpose, but when we remain faithful, we are guaranteed power over the enemy…

The devil doesn’t even have power or authority over Hell, but he will share everlasting punishment and separation from God with all those who follow him. God will eventually strip the enemy of all power at the appointed time…

Revelation 20:10(NKJV)

10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[a] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

THE DEVIL IS NOT OMNIPRESENT

The devil CANNOT be everywhere at the same time. Only God is omnipresent…

1 Kings 8:27 (NKJV)

27 “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!

The enemy is a spiritual being with limitations. Even he responded when asked by God from where was he coming (for our benefit because God already knew)…

Job 1:7 (NKJV)

And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

You can’t physically go somewhere that you already are. God doesn’t have to go anywhere, because He is already there.

The devil has agents, those fallen angels that were cast out of heaven with him (demons) to assist him in interacting with our lives.

Only the Spirit of God is everywhere at the same time.

THE DEVIL IS NOT OMNISCIENT

The devil does not know everything. The devil does not have all knowledge, but only that that God allows.

He doesn’t not know EVERYTHING about your life. He knows your family’s history…he knows your history…he observes your strengths and weaknesses and tries to manipulate both you and them. And most importantly…

He doesn’t know your future. The enemy did not know if Job could resist that terrible trial. One of the reasons that God allowed it is because He already knew and want to prove to Satan and leave an example for us of Job’s faithfulness.

He doesn’t even know when his end will be, that’s why he relentlessly goes to and fro seeking who he may devour…trying to steal, kill and destroy.

Go back and read the account of Job. Look closely at the fact that through it all, the enemy was still subject not only to God, but to Job’s faithfulness.

Be encouraged, we have power over the enemy if we remain aware of his limitations, how he works and most of all, remain faithful to God.

James 4:7 (NKJV)

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

WHO HAVE YOU CHANGED? HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED THEM?

wp-1487736027636.jpg

God created us to interact with one another…

God created us to observe one another…

Some interactions last longer than others….those are relationships.

Some interactions changed us…changed our lives.

Some of our interactions and observations have changed us for the better.

Even some one-time interactions/observations have changed us for the better.

When it comes to our spiritual life, if we have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, we are all someone’s GOOD FRUIT. It could be a parent, grandparent, preacher or stranger…we’re all someone’s fruit…that’s a good change.

John 15:8 (NKJV)

By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

However, some interactions have NOT been beneficial to us…they have changed us for the worse.

Can you think of someone that makes you changed for the better? When you’re honest with yourself, you’re a better person because you know them… because you knew them…because you met them…because you saw them…because you heard them.

You may have never even met them, but something they said, or did affected you…changed you for the better.

Now, can you think of someone that changed you for the worse? When you’re honest with yourself, you would have been better off if you had never known them…met them…saw them…heard them.

Here’s where it gets real. Here’s your self-check.

Whose better off if they never met, heard or saw you?

Why? How did you change them?

This is how we learn what we really need to CHANGE about ourselves.

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NKJV)

Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.

I’ve said this before…we have given some of our haters a reason to feel, ‘some kind of way’ about us.

Be careful how YOU change others.

YOUR SPIRITUAL ‘TRICK PLAY’…

wp-1487799948283.jpg

When the game is on the line. When he or she KNOWS the team is about to lose the game, sometimes they will call a TRICK PLAY, to totally stun the other team to secure the victory.

If the trick play works, they’re a hero and sometimes …

If it doesn’t work, everyone claims that they, ‘Don’t know what they’re doing’!

Sometimes that’s the way it goes with the vision God gave you, especially if it involves…

  • Risk
  • Financial Loss
  • It takes a long time coming to pass
  • It’s not exactly the way you saw it

Some people, even those closest to you will abandon you…talk about you…or even turn on you.

Some people will lose confidence in you…will think your confused…will even think you’re a fool.

When you know in your heart that you have prayed about it…

When you know in your heart that you have fasted about it…

When you know in your heart that you weren’t being selfish…

When you know in your heart that you sincerely felt you were being led by God…

You have to ask God to give you peace with yourself and the fact that others don’t understand.

Remember, Jesus went to the cross with HIS OWN PEOPLE thinking He…

  • Had lost
  • Was confused
  • Was possessed
  • Was misled

There are those today who think that His vision is taking to long to come to pass.

Jesus called a TRICK PLAY on the cross to beat the devil…

Colossians 2:15 (NKJV)

Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Many were expecting a military victory, but Jesus won a spiritual victory!

MAYBE THIS IS WHY GOD DID SOME THINGS ONLY ONCE…

wp-1487735735467.jpg
HAVE FAITH IN WHO DID IT, NOT HOW HE DID IT…DON’T ALLOW SUPERSTITION TO SNEAK INTO YOUR FAITH!

God only had Israel march around a city seven times to bring the walls down…ONCE. (Joshua 6)

There was only… ONE…man who had superhuman strength through his hair. (Judges 13-16)

We only know of Jesus putting clay on the eyes of a man to heal his sight…ONCE. (John Chapter 9)

Why?

God wants us to have faith in WHO did it, not HOW He did it.

Putting faith in HOW God did it builds…

SUPERSTITION instead of FAITH.

Put your faith in THE WAY, not THE WAY He does it.

Don’t allow superstition to sneak into your faith.

John 14:6 (NKJV)

DON’T LET YOUR WEAKNESSES OVERPOWER YOUR STRENGTHS…

wp-1487640334314.jpg

We all have weaknesses, all of us. They may be different, but we all have them. Even that person that may seem to have it ‘all together’…who seems so strong, struggles with some weakness(es).

That’s why so many people seem so devastated when someone whom they looked up to had a weakness either become public, or diminish their effectiveness.

The difference in those individuals who seem to be…

So effective…

So confident…

So dependable…

So strong…

IS…

They don’t allow their weaknesses to overpower their strengths.

I live in a suburb of a city that is known for crime, Memphis TN… a huge weakness. Memphis also has several fun, interesting and historically significant attractions.

I’m aware of the national narrative about the Memphis area, and that’s why you don’t see trips to Memphis being given away on many game shows.

Now, there are other cities that have just as much, if not more crime, BUT they have other attractions and destinations that outweigh the crime when people are deciding whether or not visit their cities…these cities have not allowed their weaknesses overpower their strengths.

Actually, Memphis is a city that is enjoying a renaissance of development so that the weaknesses don’t overpower the strengths.

Sometimes as individuals, and particularly as Christians, we can allow our weaknesses to stifle us, or even make us feel that they disqualify us.

Let me quickly remind you of two of God’s greatest contributors to our faith…David and the Apostle Paul.

King David…

  • Was a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14)
  • Contributed to scripture with dozens of God inspired Psalms
  • Had a more than healthy sex drive (weakness) (1 Chronicles 3:1-8)
  • Had a man loyal to him killed for his wife (2 Samuel Chapter 11)

David didn’t surprise God when He sinned…God new it would happen when He anointed David. And, David’s sin didn’t disqualify him from being king (2 Samuel Chapter 12)…because he had a truly repentant heart.

Apostle Paul…

  • Originally one of the greatest persecutors of the church (weakness) (Acts Chapter 8)
  • Was not one of the original apostles who walked with Jesus
  • Appeared ‘weak’ in person (2 Corinthians 11:30)
  • Had an admitted ‘thorn in the flesh’ weakness

However, God used Paul to take the Gospel message to the Gentiles. God knew this when Paul was persecuting the church. God uses Paul to confront the worlds most powerful leader at the time (Acts Chapter 25).

Yes, you have weaknesses…

Yes, sometimes you lose battles with your weaknesses…

But, God has made the same promise to you that he made to Paul when he asked to be delivered from his weakness…

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (NKJV)

Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

David repented…

Paul turned to God for help.

Control your weaknesses…

Strengthen them with God’s help…

But, most of all…

Capitalize on your strengths!

Make the most of THE MOST God gave you.

Don’t allow your weaknesses to overpower your strengths.

The truth is that we are all born with innate desires, feelings and proclivities that we did not ask for.

Many Christians reason to excuse some behavior by saying, “I or they was or were born this way”. This doesn’t meant that God made a mistake, but the scripture clearly reminds us that we were all born in sin…

WE’RE IN A FIXED FIGHT (YOU’RE GUARANTEED TO WIN, IF YOU STAY IN)!

wp-1487389522042.jpg

Anyone who enjoys boxing wants to see a GOOD FIGHT.

Some have even accused some matches of being FIXED. No one wants to watch or pay for a fight that isn’t good or competitive…so, if it’s fixed, it has to look like a REAL fight.  In a fixed fight, the person who is going to win has already been decided, but to camouflage the arrangement, the predestined winner will APPEAR to lose a few rounds…but he or she keeps on fighting because they no that no matter how it looks to everyone else…they are promised the victory.

Those of us in Christ are in a fixed fight, we’ve just been ordained to LOSE a few rounds so that it’s a good fight.

Yes, the devil is a strong adversary that has to be taken seriously. Yes, unfortunately we’ve all lost a few rounds with him, and will lose some more…

Some we lost through concession…we just didn’t fight hard enough.

Some we lost because we weren’t properly prepared through studying the word enough…

Some we lost because we didn’t rest between rounds enough as we’ve been commanded…

Some we lost because we didn’t take our enemy serious enough…

Some we lost because we just weren’t strong enough…

Some it LOOKED like we lost, but we really didn’t (just like Jesus on the cross)

But, remember this…our victory is promised throughout the bible.

Matthew 24:13 (KJV)

“Trust your heart!” “Follow your heart!” “The heart doesn’t lie!” How many times have you received or given that advice?

 Jeremiah 17:9

“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

The fact is that we can’t always trust what lies within our hearts.

How much trouble has your heart gotten you into? Our passions, our desires, our motives, even our dreams aren’t always within God’s will.

How much trouble has ‘your heart’ gotten  you into?

How many bad relationships?

How many bad purchases?

How many bad decisions?

We can’t even trust our hearts when it comes to what we do for God. Just because we have it in our hearts to do something for God doesn’t necessarily mean it’s His will for us.
