Even though I’ve never used them, I can truly understand sometimes why some people use drugs.
Some days responsibilities, burdens and uncertainties can stretch our faith to the limits. That’s what they are designed to do so our faith can grow.
Some nights anxieties won’t allow you to sleep or when you do sleep your mind doesn’t really rest.
We can go through entire seasons of our lives in a ‘fog’. Our days can be a blur and a shadow. As we live through the consequences of our sins, decisions and weaknesses sometimes all we can do is just sigh…
Psalm 90:9 (NKJV)
9 For all our days have passed away in Your wrath;
We finish our years like a sigh.
We can become so lonely, either or with people all around us, to the point that we can feel no one cares about us.
Through both the blessing of so many options or the lack thereof can allow ourselves to grow bored.
These are some of the reasons that people do drugs.
Sometimes it’s not because they are in the depths of indecency but because they are in the depths of despair and depression.
Sometimes it’s not because they are looking for an escape from the world, but they are looking for an escape from pain…physical pain, emotional pain, psychological pain.
Sometimes it’s not because they don’t have a heart, but it’s because their heart has been broken.
Sometimes we can feel we have lost all joy and hope.
In essence, people use drugs to fill the void that God wants to occupy in our lives because He truly loves us and wants us to truly love Him. He wants a real relationship with us and not religion.
But the God of our salvation is ready to:
Strengthen your faith,
Relieve your anxieties,
Give your mind peace and rest,
Lift you from despair and depression,
Deliver from the consequences of your sins, bad decisions and weaknesses,
Heal or help you deal with your pain
He is ready to restore your joy and hope through our LORD and Savior Yeshua, Christ Jesus.
God wants to be your drug.
GOD IS HOLY ANTIDEPRESSANT/STIMULANT:
Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV)
10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)
24 This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 46:1-3 (NKJV)
God is our refuge and strength,
A[a] very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the [b]midst of the sea;
3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
Hebrews 12:12-15 (NKJV)
12 Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;
GOD IS A HOLY SEDATIVE:
Psalm 94:19 (NKJV)
19 In the multitude of my anxieties within me,
Your comforts delight my soul.
John 14:27 (NKJV)
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Numbers 6:24-26 (NKJV)
24 “The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
GOD IS A PAIN RELIEVER/HEALER:
Psalm 34:18 (NKJV)
18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as [a]have a contrite spirit.
Isaiah 38:16-17 (NLT)
16 Lord, your discipline is good,
for it leads to life and health.
You restore my health
and allow me to live!
17 Yes, this anguish was good for me,
for you have rescued me from death
and forgiven all my sins.
Jeremiah 17:14 (NKJV)
14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed;
Save me, and I shall be saved,
For You are my praise.
James 5:13-16 (NKJV)
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 [a]Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, [b]fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
GOD WILL RESTORE YOUR HOPE:
Romans 15:13 (NKJV)
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 1:8-9 (NKJV)
8 whom having not [a]seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
GOD HAS APPROVED YOUR CELEBRATION
Ecclesiastes 9:7 (NKJV)
7 Go, eat your bread with joy,
And drink your wine with a merry heart;
For God has already accepted your works.
Philippians 4:4 (NKJV)
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Psalm 30 (NKJV)
I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up,
And have not let my foes rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
And You healed me.
3 O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, [a]that I should not go down to the pit.
4 Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of [b]His holy name.
5 For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But [c]joy comes in the morning.
6 Now in my prosperity I said,
“I shall never be [d]moved.”
7 Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong;
You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
8 I cried out to You, O Lord;
And to the Lord I made supplication:
9 “What profit is there in my blood,
When I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise You?
Will it declare Your truth?
10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me;
Lord, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have put off [e]my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
12 To the end that my [f]glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
God is ready to fill any and every void in your life, if you allow Him…
Psalm 16 (NKJV)
16 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
2 O my soul, you have said to the Lord,
“You are my Lord,
My goodness is nothing apart from You.”
3 As for the saints who are on the earth,
“They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;
Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,
Nor take up their names on my lips.
5 O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Yes, I have a good inheritance.
7 I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
