GOD IS BIGGER THAN YOUR BAD DECISIONS…

God is a forgiving God and He is willing to forgive us of all our sins as long as we truly repent and have a forgiving heart towards others.

But, sometimes we can wonder if we will ever recover from the consequences of our bad decisions.

Let me give you a quick reminder that God loves us and He is bigger than or bad decisions.

Any parent who has punished or disciplined their child will look on them in pity and remove the punishment or give them relief from the consequences if Itโ€™s in their power to do so.

God does the same thingโ€ฆ

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV)

For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But [a]joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 103:9-11 (NKJV)

He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;

So if youโ€™re living out the consequences or results of a bad decision and you have truly repented, pray that God deliver you from the consequences.

Pray that God gives you relief and peace. But, make sure you pray that He does so to his glory and for His names sakeโ€ฆ

Psalm 25:10-11 (NKJV)

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth,
To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.
11 For Your nameโ€™s sake, O Lord,
Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.

Psalm 143:11 (NKJV)

11 Revive me, O Lord, for Your nameโ€™s sake!
For Your righteousnessโ€™ sake bring my soul out of trouble.

Isaiah 48:8-10 (NKJV)

Surely you did not hear,
Surely you did not know;
Surely from long ago your ear was not opened.
For I knew that you would deal very treacherously,
And were called a transgressor from the womb.

โ€œFor My nameโ€™s sake I will [a]defer My anger,
And for My praise I will restrain it from you,
So that I do not cut you off.
10 Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver;
I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.

Once I was driving at night and didnโ€™t see a small ditch. I drove right into it! I had to drive IN the ditch for a while until I could find a place to drive OUY of it. Sometimes you have to remain in a ditch until you can find a place to be pulled out our pull yourself out.

Even though you may remain in a โ€˜ditchโ€™ because of youโ€™re a bad decision, God can pull you out.

9 EASY WAYS TO CARVE OUT MORE QUALITY TIME FOR GOD DURING YOUR BUSY DAY…

wp-1487602762822.jpg

Most of us lead very busy lives. How many times have you thought, said or heard someone say…I don’t have time to read, or study my bible, pray or go to church?

How many feel that God happily accepts being an after thought or ignored?

How many feel it’s okay to say you believe, but never live like God is real or like they are in true relationship with Him?

How many people say through…

Jobs…

Careers…

Family…

Organizations…

Youth Sports and Activities…

Even church activities…

That they don’t have time for God, prayer, reading and studying their bible or worship?

The truth is that God doesn’t give us blessings to replace Him.

Our blessings should never become barriers or burdens to our relationship with Him.

Here are a few simple, easy suggestions to carve out quality time with God.

1. WHEN YOU CAN’T SLEEP AT NIGHT

We all have those nights when we canโ€™t sleep. You may not even necessarily be worried. You may be excited about the next day. You may have awaken to use the bathroom and couldnโ€™t go back to sleep. For whatever reason, you just lie there in the bed. You may turn on the television. Maybe God is trying to squeeze in some quality time with you before you get busy during the day. Itโ€™s the ideal time to be close to Him. No distractions. No noise. Just you and God. You can lie there and prayโ€ฆget on your kneesโ€ฆget up and lift up your hands and praise Godโ€ฆYou can go outside and adore His awesome creationโ€ฆYou can read your bible, or even study a specific topic. God can give you fresh revelation during these intimate times. You will find yourself feeling so much closer to Him, but most of all you will please and bless Him. Best of all, you will find yourself yawning and going back into a wonderful restful sleep for the rest ot the night (or morning).

Psalm 16:7 (NKJV)

I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.

 Psalm 63:6 (NKJV)

When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.

 2. WHEN YOU FIRST WAKE UP

I used to be in the habit of going to the gym early in the morning to start my day. I would say a short prayer and then go โ€˜work out my bodyโ€™. I ruptured my Achilles tendon one day and found myself in a boot and a cast for several months. Not much later, God cultivated out of that the practice of going outside on my porch, and spending rich quality time in prayer and praise before I do anything else. I replaced worshiping my flesh in a sense with worshiping Him. Now, you donโ€™t have to go outside, but itโ€™s not difficult to kneel and pray as soon as you wake up. Before you drink your coffee. Before you watch the news. Before you check your social media. I think it is a foolish thing to begin the day without submitting ourselves to and talking to God first. Even if you donโ€™t get on your kneesโ€ฆlie in your bedโ€ฆget up and bow your headโ€ฆlift up holy handsโ€ฆjust make sure your heart is humble and your prayer is sincere and not rushed.

Psalm 63:1 (NKJV)

63 O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.

3. WHEN YOU ARE USING THE BATHROOM IN THE MORNING.

This is something we all have to do when we wake up. Keep a bible in the bathroom, or use your bible app on your phone. This is another time when you are alone and can choose a verse of the day on which to meditate or even read a chapter each morning. A verse of the day is good for memory or meditation, but it should never take the place of real in-depth bible study. God doesnโ€™t mind you making His word #1 while you do #2.

4. THANK GOD FOR AND BLESS EVERY MEAL (EVEN SNACKS)

Make it a point to thank God for every meal you eat. It doesnโ€™t have to be a long drawn out prayer, but a sincere thank you for the awesome blessing of having food to eat. Donโ€™t be ashamed to thank Him for your food while you are in publicโ€ฆat lunch with co-workersโ€ฆat a lunch meeting. Also, itโ€™s very important to bless each meal and ask God that it nourish your body and not harm it. Much of our food we donโ€™t prepare ourselves and we donโ€™t know how it could harm are bodiesโ€ฆAlways bless every meal and shack.

1 Timothy 4:4-5 (NKJV)

For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

5. WHILE YOU’RE DRINKING YOUR COFFEE

Whether you have a relaxing cup of coffee, tea, juice or whatever your morning beverage may be, itโ€™s an ideal time to read Godโ€™s wordโ€ฆprayโ€ฆor even praise God each morning. What do you read or watch while you sip on your coffee? Why not make it Godโ€™s word?

6. WHILE CHECKING YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA STATUS

How many times a day do your check your social media? Many people check their’s as soon as they wake upโ€ฆthen claim they donโ€™t have time to read the bible. Check out what God has posted in His word before you check out whatโ€™s going on in social media. Thereโ€™s nothing wrong with checking you Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or whatever. Of, course there are even devotionals on there just like this one, but never let it take the place of reading and studying your bible.

7. DURING YOUR LUNCH BREAK AT WORK OR AFTERNOON BREAK

Your lunch break is your time. Why not dedicate a few moment of it, or even an entire lunch break once a week to reading and studying Godโ€™s word. You can even volunteer at a mission or serve others in some way during your lunch break from time to time. Itโ€™s just another opportunity to spend quality time with God during your day. To prove to Him and yourself that you really value time with Him and love Him. You will find it to be not a burden or task, but a time of refreshing and fellowship to help you stay focused and make it through the rest of the day.

8. TAKE A VACATION DAY JUST TO SPEND WITH GOD

Most of us have vacation days. Have you ever taken a vacation day just to spend in prayer, study, praise and fellowship with God? Devoting one of your vacation days to God is an awesome mini-sabbatical opportunity to grow closer to the God of our salvation through our Lord and Savior, Yeshua, Jesus Christ.

9. LISTEN TO GOSPEL MUSIC SOMETIMES OTHER THAN IN WORSHIP

Of course thereโ€™s nothing wrong with fun music or love songs as long as they donโ€™t contain ungodly lyrics. But, thereโ€™s a world of good Gospel music of every genre that you can use to turn your leisure time into worship time. It doesn’t have to be a hymnal. Like my wife, Gospel Jazz Artist Mechelle Johnson (Yep thatโ€™s a plug:-) But, good Gospel music is another way to help stay focused while you work or play.

God knows that we make time for what and who are important to us. These are just a few suggestions of how to make more time for God. Thereโ€™s no excuse to say we are too busy for Him.

Proverbs 3:6 (NKJV)

In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a] your paths.

ARE YOUR RESPONSIBLE WITH YOUR AUDIENCE?

wp-1479740619961.jpg

There are many celebrities, politicians, athletes and ministers who have huge audiences. They have great NAME RECOGNITION, people know them nearly everywhere they go, listen to what they have to say and even imitate their behavior. They have huge influence with their fans or followers. It’s disappointing to see what some people do with their voice and influence. Some are blessed with a social stage or public platform only to squander their voice and influence on foolishness or themselves.

We may not all be celebrities, but God has given all of us an audience and a voice. In your home, job, school, church, the park, the shopping center, in traffic, the restaurant people are watching you and listening to you. What are you doing with your audience? Many times we claim we want God to ‘enlarge our territoryโ€™ just as Jabez prayed in 1 Chronicles 4:10. We ask Him to give us more resources and influence, but are we being responsible with that we already have? Are we being responsible with those in our circle of influence, no matter how small?

How do you handle disappointment on the job?…in front of your children?

How do you act when you get bad service in the restaurant?โ€ฆor in a store?

How do you behave when frustrated in traffic?โ€ฆ(That one hit me!)

Do you speak up for the right things when it’s not popular to do so or remain silent?

How do you represent yourself on social media?

How do you dress?

God tells us in 1 Peter 2:12 โ€ฆ

โ€œHaving your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.โ€

Colossians 4:5 says… “Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.โ€

And of course In Matthew Jesus saysโ€ฆ

Matthew 5:14-16… โ€œYou are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. God expects us to be His Light in the world.

Too many people want God to move them to bigger and better when they aren’t even thriving where they’re planted.

Are you thriving where you’re planted?

What are you doing with your voice and influence?

How are you perceived in your circles?

Whether you have an audience of  one or one million, God expects you to honor Him and be light. Men, Women and Children of God…let’s be responsible with our audience.

GOD ISN’T FAIR, BUT HE’S JUST…

wp-1483540427813.jpg

One of the keys to having inner PEACE is understanding and accepting the fact that God never promised that life on this earth would be fair. The fact that God told us that we shouldn’t fret because evildoers will prosper let’s us know that life isn’t fair ( Psalm 37:1).

The fact that God told us that it has been given to us to not only believe, but to suffer for the sake of Christ ( Philippians 1:29) implies that life isn’t fair.

It’s not fair that some are born rich and others in deep poverty.

It’s not fair that children get sick, suffer and die.

It’s not fair that some horrible parents have several children while some potential great parents are unable to have any.

It’s not fair that some people were born into generations of slavery while others squander their freedom.

Let’s take for example sick children. Notice in the bible how David’s first child by Bathsheeba died because of his sin in 2 Samuel 12.

Notice in Mark 9 and Matthew 17 how a man’s son was possessed by a demon since he was a child.

Notice in John Chapter 9 how a man was born blind and spent most of his life blind until healed by Jesus. Notice in  Matthew 9 Jairus’ daughter died, but was resurrected by Jesus.

Now those that Jesus healed had been sick, possessed or died for the sole purpose that God could be glorified through their healing, deliverance and resurrection.

The truth is I CAN’T EXPLAIN why David’s son died. There is much about why God does what He does that we can’t explain.

In fact, who are we to ask for an explanation?

When they continually asked Jesus for a sign, He said none would be given but the sign of the prophet Jonah (Matthew 16:4). The fact is, Jesus showed them numerous miracles and signs which they ignored, but they wanted a sign that would satisfy them. Jesus Himself pointed out in…

Luke 4:25-27

But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; 26 but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath,in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.โ€

God tells us in Romans 9:21 that the clay doesnโ€™t question the potter.

Most of all it wasnโ€™t fair that God had to send His only Son to suffer and die a shameful death for our sins. The truth is that life isn’t fair, there is much we won’t understand, and much we can’t understand with our limited human intelligence, as God told in…

Isaiah 55:8-9โ€ฆ8

โ€œFor My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,โ€ says the Lord.  9 โ€œFor as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

No one has all of the answers as to why God does what He does and allows what He allows, and don’t trust any ‘superspiritual’ person who claims to have all the answers.

The fact is, that after all things are considered, we must TRUST GOD.

He promised in…

Romans 8:28

All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

We must understand and accept that even though God may not be FAIR by our standards that He is JUST by His.

DON’T SQUANDER YOUR FAITH!

wp-1478797111380.jpg

Yes we have faith in God, but what are we believing God for?

Many approach, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) carnally. We fully believe that if we have the faith AS a grain of mustard seed we can move mountains (Matthew 17:20), but we can get caught up trying to move the wrong mountains.

There is so much power available to change our lives and the lives of others, but sometimes we SQUANDER OUR FAITH on material things, trying to ‘come up’, and bring glory to ourselves…on the wrong things.

Many of us struggle all of our lives the personal issues that hold us back…

Lack of confidence,

Low self-esteem,

Impatience,

Narcissism,

Timidity,

Lack of motivation, etc….

You can look at some people and still see them as a child. You can tell who was the cry baby, who was the bully,…who took their toys or ball and went home when they didn’t get their way.

You can tell who was mistreated as a so-called ‘nerd’, and now they are over-the-top in proving I’m somebody or getting even.

We need God’s power to shape our character and attitudes so we can be used by Him. We need His power to be conformed into His image (Romans 8:29). There are so many people in the world who genuinely need help…

Poverty,

Homelessness,

Addiction,

Oppression,

Hunger,

Christians being persecuted because of their faith,

Unbelievers in the one true and living God through faith in Christ.

But, unfortunately too many Christians focus ALL of their faith on THEIR own prosperity and glory. There’s nothing wrong with wanting good things in life, but our abundant culture and God’s grace and mercy has created a class of selfish, entitled Christians.

We can even approach giving selfishly. It’s taught selfishly. Christians are taught to GIVE SO YOU CAN BE BLESSED rather than GIVE SO YOU CAN BE A BLESSING. Too many Christians’ motivation to give is to get…it’s their BLESSING BILL. Some aren’t the least bit concerned with Kingdom work, they just don’t want God to ‘cut off their blessings’ just like an electric bill.

I’m not questioning your faith. Yes we have faith, we believe in God. We know what He can do, but what are we believing God for? God has given us the power to move mountains. He’s given us the power to change our world and the world around us. He’s given us the power to overcome who we were. Let us not squander our faith or use it selfishly, but use it to move the mountains in the lives of others rather than just ourselves.

WHEN THE DEVIL GIVES YOU THE FINGER…

flip-the-bird-1606881_1920

When you’re pursuing your God-given purpose,

When youโ€™re loving and forgiving,

When youโ€™re sharing Godโ€™s love, it frustrates the devil.

But, he has absolutely no power over your life except that what God allowsโ€ฆ

 Job 1:12 (NKJV)

12 And the Lord said to Satan, โ€œBehold, all that he has is in your [a]power; only do not lay a hand on his person.โ€

So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

God gets glory out of our lives when we overcome the devil, just as He did when He allowed the enemy to have temporary access to Job.

He bragged on Job, and sometimes God is bragging on youโ€ฆ

Job 1:8  (NKJV)

Then the Lord said to Satan, โ€œHave you [a]considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and [b]shuns evil?โ€

Thatโ€™s why sometimes frustrations come from nowhereโ€ฆ

Frustrations to your healthโ€ฆ

Frustrations to your financesโ€ฆ

Frustrations in your relationshipsโ€ฆ

Frustrations on your jobsโ€ฆ

Those aches and pains. That boil on your behind. That person who has been frustrating you in traffic for the past 20 miles. That co-worker who continues to conspire against you. Those people who are insensitive, inconsiderate and unapologetic.

The devil seeโ€™s when youโ€™re not letting those frustrations get to you. So, he sends another frustrationโ€ฆand anotherโ€ฆand another, until God tells Him, โ€œThatโ€™s enough!โ€

The enemy knows He has no real power over your life, so those frustrations are just him โ€˜giving you the fingerโ€™โ€ฆ

Heโ€™s flipping you off because youโ€™ve pissed him off.

So, donโ€™t let him get the best of you! Keep your cool. Praise God. And, let God get glory out of your story.

WHY IT’S OKAY TO ADMIT THAT WE DON’T KNOW WHY GOD DOES EVERYTHING HE DOES…

Anyone who believes in God has been asked these questions.

Most if not all believers, if they are willing to admit it to themselves, have asked some of these questions.

Not only are there some difficult things to understand in the Bible, but there are things God does today that are difficult to explain.

Why does God allow babies and children to suffer with terminal illnesses?

Why does the bible not explicitly forbid slavery?

Why does God allow abusive parents to have children, while others who would be loving, nurturing parents to go childless?

Why does God allow some people to be healed but other people, some we would even call ‘goodโ€™ people, to not be healed?

Luke 4:27 (NKJV)

2And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.โ€

There are countless questions that atheists and some believers ask concerning God, either arrogantly or anxiously waiting for answers.

God gave us the example through the Psalms that He will allow us to question Him in humility, as long as we continue to trust Him…

Psalm 13:1-2 (NKJV)

How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes,
Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest my enemy say,
โ€œI have prevailed against himโ€;
Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

If you’re like me, sometimes you feel pressured to give a quick and definite answer to ‘defend’ God. Sometimes you want a definite answer to satisfy yourself.

But the truth is that some things we simply don’t know.

That means sometimes the best answer is…

I DON’T KNOW!

Even those who depend on science to shape their beliefs have to admit that with all of our advances in science and medicine, there is still more that’s unknown than is known.

Scientists still have to sometimes say…

I DON’T KNOW!

Doctors have to sometimes admit…

I DON’T KNOW!

There are times that after a deadly diagnoses that the illness sometimes disappears and the physician has to admit…

I DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!

So, no one should really scoff when a believer says they simply don’t know.

The fact is, there is great peace in admitting that even though you don’t know…you still trust God. He has told us that there are things that will be beyond are human minds, and even science helps prove that. There is much in science well beyond the reach of scientific knowledge.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)

โ€œFor My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,โ€ says the Lord.
โ€œFor as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Don’t deny yourself the blessing and peace of simply saying…”I DON’T KNOW!”

Psalm 131:1 (NKJV)

Lord, my heart is not [a]haughty,
Nor my eyes [b]lofty.
Neither do I [c]concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too [d]profound for me.

Admitting that you don’t know doesn’t confirm God isn’t God, it just confirms that we are human.

WHEN YOUR SIN IS A GOOD MEMORY…

You’ve stopped.

You don’t do it anymore.

You even asked God to forgive you.

But, when you think about it, the memory still makes you smile.

If you don’t really regret it.

If you had to do it all over…you would do it again.

If you aren’t truly sorry that it happened, then it’s a good chance that God hasn’t forgiven you.

Why?

Because you haven’t truly repented in your heart.

True repentance comes from godly sorrow…

2 Corinthians 7:10 (NKJV)

10 For (A)godly sorrow produces repentance leadingto salvation, not to be regretted; (B)but the sorrow of the world produces death.

If you aren’t sorry, have you truly repented?

5 TIPS ON HOW TO WORK WITH PEOPLE YOU DON’T TRUST…

wp-1488048352149.jpg

Your success, effectiveness and peace is not only determined by how well you relate with people you DO TRUST…but how well you are at relating with people that you DON’T TRUST.

Our ultimate trust is in God, but He didn’t put us on this earth alone.

God has also ordained it that there is little that we can accomplish alone.

Even God Himself uses His angels to relate to usโ€ฆ

Hebrews 11:14 (NKJV)

Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

God let the captives in Babylon know that though they trusted Him, they were to pray for the peace of the city in which they lived because their peace was dependent on the cityโ€™s peaceโ€ฆ

Jeremiah 29:7(NKJV)

And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.

Jesus sent the first disciples out in pairs (Mark 6:7, Luke 10:1)

The apostles worked in pairs, teams and even depended heavily on the early church for help.

As much as we are interdependent on another in this life, God also warned us about putting our trust in people rather than Himโ€ฆ

Psalm 118:8 (NKJV)

It is better to trust in the Lord. Than to put confidence in man.

Of course we all want to be in relationships and situations with people we trust, but thatโ€™s not always possibleโ€ฆSometimes we canโ€™t even trust our own selves.

It seems itโ€™s getting harder and harder to trust people these days.

We have families, jobs, churches, communities, organizations that we are all a part of in which to live, but the fact is that you KNOW you canโ€™t trust everyoneโ€ฆ

In your familyโ€ฆ

On your jobโ€ฆ

In your churchโ€ฆ

In your communityโ€ฆ

In our governmentโ€ฆ

Sometimes we go through seasons and situations when we canโ€™t trust our spouse, children, parents or even friendsโ€ฆbecause we are human beings being human.

Do we abandon these relationships and resources because of the lack of trust or total trust?

Of course not!

Your ability to be successful, effective and have peace in your life is just as dependent upon your ability to work and relate with people you DONโ€™T trust as well as those you DO trust.

How do you do it?

First of all trust God first. If He has you in a situation, or you have allowed yourself into a situation where trust is limitedโ€ฆyou still have to lean on His word, truth, character and TRUST HIM.

Second pray for wisdom and discernment so you can know WHO to trust and WHO NOT to trust.

Third pray for those whom you donโ€™t trust that they submit themselves to God through our Lord and Savior Yeshua, Jesus Christ. Itโ€™s bigger than just you or meโ€ฆUltimately itโ€™s more about their relationship with God than ours with them.

Fourth, remain in Godโ€™s character so that you can set a standard and example of behavior and plant good seeds for Godโ€™s Kingdom. You do this by walking in the Spirit as defined in Galatians 5:22, 23.

Fifth, always make are always faithful and trustworthy in all your relationships.

And finally, remember that God had equipped you with everything you need for this LIFE and GODLINESS in this life, through His divine nature that is now inside youโ€ฆ

2 PETER 1:2-8 (NKJV)

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

No you canโ€™t trust everyoneโ€ฆ

The fact that we aren’t always faithful means that God can’t always trust us. But, we can always trust Him.

So,

Trust Godโ€ฆ

Trust Yourselfโ€ฆ

Be Trustworthy…

And remember, GOD IS GREATER THAN THOSE WHOM YOU DONโ€™T TRUST.

Add this to your prayer life…”Lord give me the ability to relate with those I don’t trust.”

CAN WE BE TOO RIGHTEOUS?

wp-1472569536852.jpg

Most cake recipes call for a little salt. Many of us like to satisfy our sweet tooth with a good slice of cake. In fact, when itโ€™s really good, one bite just makes you want another. The right amount of salt makes cakes taste just rightโ€ฆmaking you want more with each bite. However, too much salt will make us quickly spit it out of our mouth.

Colossians 4:6 tells us to let our speech be full of grace and seasoned with salt. Ecclesiastes 7:16 says, โ€œDo not be overly righteous,โ€ Nor be overly wise:..โ€

Itโ€™s good to have passion for the Kingdom of God, but when we are over-zealous, arrogant, mean-spirited  self-righteous, we can turn people away rather than attract them to Christ. All things in moderation. If we are trying to talk about the Lord in EVERY conversation, claim we never do anything wrong, or down people who are unbelievers, we can make people avoid us, dread seeing us coming and destroy any influence we may have. But, if we cleverly chose the right moments to โ€˜sprinkle the salt of the wordโ€™ when itโ€™s applicable, people are more likely to listen, receive it, and even soften hardened hearts.

We need to โ€˜love out loudโ€™ and โ€˜live out loudโ€™ to let people see God in our character rather than beating them with the bible, making every conversation about God, or punctuating every sentence with a spiritual clichรฉ. Wisely โ€˜sprinkling the saltโ€™ of Godโ€™s word in conversations can make people hungry for more, and establish you as the go-to person on your job, your team, your school, your family when people want to know more about God. Being over zealous makes us seem crazy, and people can conclude, โ€œI donโ€™t want what they have.โ€ God expects us to use wisdom and do everyone His Spirit of excellence. Notice how Paul reasoned with the Epicureans, Stoics, and people of Athens with respect and wisdom in Acts 17. He didnโ€™t โ€˜beat them over the headโ€™ or talk down to them. He wetted their appetite so that some wanted to hear more.

Psalm 19:10 proclaims Godโ€™s word is sweeter than honey in the comb. Yes it is! I love it. But if we donโ€™t handle it wisely, people will spit it out, and we can do more harm than good.

WHY EVEN GOD CAN’T BE A MOTHER…

cropped-wp-14789108568221.jpg
GOD RESERVED AN EXTRA SPECIAL ROLE FOR WOMEN!

God is…

All-powerful!

All-knowing!

And, everywhere at the same time.

There is nothing impossible to Him, but there’s still a few things He can’t do…

He can’t die.

He can’t lie.

He can’t fail…

And, He can’t be a MOTHER.

Yes, I know we say He’s a father to the fatherless and a mother to the motherless…and He can fill those voids in our lives, but…

Notice what Psalm 68:5 says…

A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows,
Is God in His holy habitation.

It says that our loving heavenly FATHER is to the fatherless, but not a mother to the  motherless.

He’s our FATHER, but,

God gave a special role to women. He gave them honor of being the first connection to every life on this earth. To nurture every life…to introduce every person to the world, and with that role comes a special bond. There’s nothing like a mother’s love.

Even when it comes to our salvation, in the fullness of time, God still didn’t step outside of the authority He gave to women by still using a woman to bring His Son into the world.

Yes, He could have made another man of ‘dust’ if He wanted, but He chose Mary to be a Mother to our Lord and Savior, Yeshua, Jesus Christ.

Galatians 4:4 (NKJV)

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born[a] of a woman, born under the law,

There’s nothing like a mother’s love!

That’s why it’s possible for some women who didn’t even physically birth a child into the world to still have the anointing to fulfill a mother’s role and love…it is a gift of God to the child and mother.

In those unfortunate circumstances when a mother does not live up to her role, even though a father can step it up or step in…nothing can ‘replace it’. Sometimes there is just a void, unless another ‘woman’ steps in (grandmother, aunt, sister, adopted mother).

So thank God for all mothers, even if yours didn’t live up to her responsibility, because that’s who God chose to bring you into the world.

Praise God for the blessing of mothers!

HOW GOD IS GREATER THAN THE WEAKNESSES THAT HE GAVE YOU…

1 Kings 11:1-2 (NKJV)

But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittitesโ€” from the nations of whom the Lord had said to the children of Israel, โ€œYou shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.โ€ Solomon clung to these in love.

Anyone who reads the bible knows that King Solomon is recognized as the wisest man who every lived. They also know that he loved women and had many wives and concubines. So, it very be easily concluded that Solomonโ€™s sex drive and love for women was a weakness. He allowed the women he loved to compromise his devotion to God โ€“ the wisest man who ever lived.

King Solomonโ€™s wisdom was his greatest strength. His sex drive was his greatest weakness. And, both of them were given to him by God.

We all have strengths and weaknesses that are God given.

Iโ€™m not as organized as I would like to be, and when I put great effort into becoming more organizedโ€ฆI find myself slipping back into being less organized (notice how Iโ€™m trying to avoid saying unorganized:-)

I also donโ€™t have much rhythm. As much as I try, there are some things that I just can’t do well physically (dancing for example). I am however very strong physically.

I was born with those weaknesses. I didn’t ask for them. They’re innate…

God gave them to me.

I believe that just the same as we have physical weaknesses, we also have spiritual weaknesses. We have weaknesses in our personalities. Some have difficulty paying attention. Some are naturally poor with words, and have trouble relating with others. Some are naturally poor with numbers and canโ€™t manage money well, no matter how hard they try. Some have learning disabilities, even if the disabilities aren’t severe, they could still be considered a weakness. Some people are poor listeners and have trouble staying focused. The โ€˜weaknessesโ€™ Iโ€™m talking about are things that canโ€™t be taught. They are just a part of who we are. Just as I mentioned about Solomon, some have an unquenchable sexual appetite, that they didnโ€™t ask for. Some have an attraction to the same sex, that they didnโ€™t ask for. Some have a natural propensity for violenceโ€ฆthat they didnโ€™t even necessarily learn.

What is your weakness? What are your weaknesses?

The good news is that God is greater than any weakness that He gave us. God can bless you and you can be a blessing to others in spite of your weaknesses.

Moses wasn’t an eloquent speaker. In fact, he considered it to be a weakness. God didn’t allow the weakness He GAVE Moses to get in the way of his purpose…

Exodus 4:10 (NKJV)

10 Then Moses said to the Lord, โ€œO my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I amslow of speech and slow of tongue.โ€

Remember, what the Apostle Paul had a weakness that he didnโ€™t ask for. God gave it to Him, but also remember…

2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (NKJV)

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, โ€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.โ€ Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christโ€™s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Godโ€™s strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. God can and will bless us and use us in spite of your weaknesses!

God wants us and others can know that every blessing, every success, every victory, is because of him and not ourselves. He wants us to bring Him glory and that any glory we have is through Him.

Just as Paul said, when we work through our weaknesses, God’s power is resting on us.

He wants to use our weaknesses to show us His power so we can lean on Him, depend on Him, trust Him and love Him.

Anyone and everyone that you know who is successful has multiple weaknesses. We spend so much time focusing on their strengths, talents and abilities that we think make them successful that we donโ€™t notice their weaknessesโ€ฆunless one of their weaknesses causes them to fall.

Yes, you are far from perfect, but so is every person that God has ever used.

God fulfills His perfect will through imperfect people.

So, acknowledge your weaknesses that God gave you. Pray for God to help you with them and through them. Leverage your strengths to Godโ€™s glory.

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR REGRETSโ€ฆ

wp-1489325386452.jpgWe all have themโ€ฆregrets.

We regret things weโ€™ve doneโ€ฆ

Things weโ€™ve saidโ€ฆ

Things weโ€™ve thought.

Even our regrets are an aspect of being created in Godโ€™s image.

Genesis 6:6 (NIV)

The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

The word regret here, according to Strongโ€™s Concordance, means to sigh, groan or ease oneself.

Godโ€™s โ€˜regretโ€™ wasnโ€™t lamenting over a mistake He made, because He makes no mistakes, but rather His comforting Himself as He progressed with His plan that eventually led to manโ€™s salvation.

God gave us every emotion for a reasonโ€ฆeven those we consider negative.

He gave us anger to lead to passion in order to make positive change.

He gave us hate to have hatred for evil and sinful behaviorโ€ฆnot people.

And, he gave us REGRET to be seeds to repentance rather than depression.

Sometimes when we think of those sinful, shameful, irresponsible or foolish things that we have said, done and thought, we can allow those thoughts to consume us. If we arenโ€™t careful, they can lead to depression or isolation. They can lead to behavior that not only causes harm to ourselves, but also to those we love.

But, God gave us regret to help us avoid making the same mistakes.

USE YOUR REGRETS!

You can use your regrets to PROGRESS you rather than DEPRESS you.

Let your regrets lead to the Godly sorrow that leads to repentanceโ€ฆ

2 Corinthians 7:10 (NKJV)

10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

Even if you are dealing with the consequences of what youโ€™re regretting, if God has given you breath in your bodyโ€ฆthatโ€™s grace to make things right and avoid making the same mistakes again.

RECOGNIZE that you canโ€™t go back in time and change what you regret.

REPENT of those thoughts, words, actions, and behaviors and avoid putting yourself in the positions or even frames of mind that would lead to repeating what you regret.

RESOLVE in your mind that you will not allow yourself to โ€˜go thereโ€™ again.

REJOICE in the fact that when you truly repent, that even if others havenโ€™t, God has forgiven you and has given you grace to go on in peace.

Donโ€™t let your regrets overwhelm or cripple you. Let them be brief, temporary moments that you use to make yourself better.

THE LIES WE DON’T INTEND TO TELL (MOST OF THE TIME)…

wp-1486943189232.jpg

SOME OF THE BIGGEST LIES WE TELL ARE…

Not intentionally (most of the time)…have any of these come from your mouth????

I love you…

I’ll pray for you…

I’ll call you back…

That’s okay…

I’m okay…

What’s wrong? “Nothing!”…

That’s hilarious…(and you don’t laugh)

Oh yeah, I remember that…

I donโ€™t remember…

I don’t have it on me…(when asked for money)

That tastes great…

You look great…

I like that…

I’ve got your back…

I love everybody…

I don’t see color…

I’m doing this for you…

That didn’t bother me…

I donโ€™t even care…

I’m over it…

It doesn’t matter…

Remember what Jesus said in Matthew Chapter 12โ€ฆ

 Matthew 12:36 (NKJV)

36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

Take a moment and thank God for His grace and mercy for the lies we tell…intentional and unintentional.

 BE BLESSTIFIED!

WHY YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND SOMEONE TO LOVE THEM…

The power of true love is almost incomprehensible…

It’s power to makes us feel complete and heal relationships is matched by its power to make us vulnerable and feel pain.
Sacrificial love will make us surrender our pride…our safety…and sometimes we’ll feel our sanity.
It’s this type of love that has led people to stay in abusive relationships (which I’m not excusing, just explaining.
I’m saying all that to say this. If you find yourself challenged by loving someone that you don’t understand, remember this…

You don’t have to understand someone to love them.

And, also remember that when we hurt the ones we love, it doesn’t mean we don’t love them. I just means our love isn’t perfect.
Notice the behavior of perfect love as God so eloquently describes through the Apostle Paul…
1 Corinthians 13 (NKJV)
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift ofprophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not[b]puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [c]thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there areprophecies, they will fail; whether there aretongues, they will cease; whether there isknowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is [d]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

None of us have perfected this.

We aren’t perfect and neither is our love…but God’s is.

Love is hard, so love hard because…

If you don’t love hard, you’re hardly loving:-)

THE BLESSING IN LOSING HER MIND (FROM MY ARCHIVES)…

wp-1480384296264.jpg
WHAT’ IS THOUGHT TO BE A CURSE OF OLD AGE IS A BLESSING TO SOME…

Years ago I used to do nursing home ministry. I would visit two nursing homes, once each month. As I walked down through the halls I would see the same faces. There were some residents who had regular visits from family and friends, but unfortunately, there too many who never got a visitor…ever.

There were also varying levels of mental health. One lady in particular at one of the nursing homes would say the same thing during every visit. She would sit in her wheelchair in the entrance to her room as I walked by…smile and say, “I’m going home today”. No, she wasn’t going home. She was one of the residents who never had visitors, and her family had moved on with their lives. At first I felt sorry for her because her situation seemed so hopeless…but then God gave me an awesome revelation.

In her hopeless situation…her dementia was a blessing!

Blessing? How was her dementia a blessing?

In reality, she woke up every morning WITHOUT hope of going home.

But through her dementia, she woke up every morning WITH hope of going home.

God gave her a reason to smile EVERY DAY.

God gave her something to look forward to EVERY DAY.

God gave her HOPE in a HOPELESS situation.

She spent her last days with HOPE.

What many may think of as a CURSE, was actually a BLESSING to her.

God’s wisdom is amazing!

He can can pull HOPE out of HOPEless…

FORTUNE our of unFORTUNALTE…

Stop and give God praise for His unfathomable wisdom. Paul was right in Romans 11…

Romans 11: 33-36
33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! 34 โ€œFor who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has become His counselor?โ€
35 โ€œOr who has first given to Him
And it shall be repaid to him?โ€
36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

WHY GOD HATES ‘BIGG BUTTS’…

What do people say when confronted with doing what God expects of them or has called them to do?

Why donโ€™t you go to church?

Letโ€™s go feed the homeless.

Letโ€™s go visit and minister people in prison and hospitalsโ€ฆ

Why donโ€™t you give the firstfruits of all your increase to God?

Usually before we make an excuse, we usually give a big BUTโ€ฆ

โ€œI would, BUT the people in church arenโ€™t right themselvesโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI would, BUT those homeless people will just spend it on drugs, cigarettes and alcoholโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI would, BUT I canโ€™t afford toโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI would, BUT I donโ€™t have time to visitโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI would, BUT my kids have sportsโ€ฆโ€

Yeshua, Christ Jesus, gave us a parable to illustrate how much He hates our excuses. He let us know how much He hates our BIG BUTSโ€ฆ

Luke 14:18-24 (NKJV)

18 BUT they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, โ€˜I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.โ€™ 19 And another said, โ€˜I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.โ€™ 20 Still another said, โ€˜I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.โ€™ 21 So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, โ€˜Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the [a]maimed and the lame and the blind.โ€™ 22 And the servant said, โ€˜Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.โ€™ 23 Then the master said to the servant, โ€˜Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.โ€™ โ€

Notice that each of these excuses addressed the same excuses we give today.

BUSINESS. WORK. CAREER

โ€œI bought a piece of groundโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI bought a yoke of oxenโ€ฆโ€

SPOUSE. CHILDREN. FAMILY

โ€œI have married a wifeโ€ฆ

These excuses made the master of the house (Jesus) angry. So, He invited the very people who those who were initially invited were called to serve instead.

He then said those who makes excuses and rejected His invitation will not โ€˜taste His supperโ€™ (will not enter His Kingdom).

Jesus hates our excuses! However, the enemy loves our BIG BUTS! He loves our excuses.

Donโ€™t let your BIG BUT keep you out of the Kingdom of God!

WHY YOU SHOULD THANK GOD FOR THE SIDE OF THE DEVIL THAT HE RESTRAINS FROM YOU…

Throughout the history of the world people have committed horrible atrocities to one another.

In His sovereignty and for His ultimate purpose, whether it be for example or judgement, if you believe in God, just as with Job, you have to accept that God allowed those atrocities that were provoked by the devil to happen.

The devil has to submit to God’s power, and he gets no access unless God allows it.

Job 1:12 NKJV

And the LORD said to Satan, โ€œBehold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.โ€ So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

Even today, the most vile, evil and remorseless people are being influenced by the devil, the adversary…Satan.

There’s a world of evil, crime, oppression and opposition that many people like me only know about from the news or movies.

So, when we get upset at how the devil is allowed to frustrate our lives in many ways…our families… our jobs and careers… our finances… we must stop and thank God there are horrible levels of evil that God doesn’t permit the devil to release into our lives.

This isn’t meant to diminish any level of resistance someone may be facing right now, but for most of us… it could always be worse.

Stop right now and thank God for how He restrains the devil and His emissaries from your life.

Stop and thank God for YOUR angels who minister to you and fight for you in both the physical and spiritual worlds.

Hebrews 1:13-14 (NKJV)

13 But to which of the angels has He ever said:

(A)โ€œSit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstoolโ€?

14 (B)Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will (C)inherit salvation?

And, remember to release prayers for those who are under a more severe level of attack than you.

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV)

8 Be [a]sober, be [b]vigilant; [c]because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

2 Thessalonians 2:7 (NKJV)

7 For (A)the [a]mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only [b]He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

HOW REPENTANCE IS GOD’S “UNDO” BUTTON…

How many times have you typed something on a device and decided that wasn’t what you wanted to say?

How many times have you done something on a device and decided it wasn’t an action that you wanted to do?

Did you throw away your device?

No.

You clicked UNDO.

Clicking UNDO allows you to totally wipe out what you didn’t want without affecting anything else you’re working on.

When you’ve typed or done something wrong, it allows you the opportunity to ‘change directions’ and do it right.

When you confess your sins to God, and commit to change directions, you’ve clicked God’s UNDO button.

When you repent, God wipes out what you’ve said, done or thought.

When you repent, God doesn’t hold what you said, did, or thought against you anymore…

When you repent, God allows you to continue with your life as if you’ve never did what you did…

When you repent, God allows you to start over and do it the right way…

As long as you don’t RETYPE the SAME thing again.

ASKING GOD FOR FORGIVENESS ISNโ€™T REPENTANCE (QUICK DEFINITION)โ€ฆ

THEREโ€™S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REMORSE & REPENTANCEโ€ฆ

WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE AN APOLOGY OR REPENTANCE?

GOD DIDNโ€™T ASK FOR AN APOLOGY, HE DEMANDS REPENTANCEโ€ฆ

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 (NKJV)

Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

John 1:9 (NKJV)

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

THREE THINGS ON WHICH THE BIBLE & SCIENCE AGREE…

wp-1498284702569.

As a man of faith in God, I enjoy many of the benefits that have come through science. But, when it comes to the origin of the universe, how life began on earth and many other things, science and religion are at odds. In those instances, I like to define science as the attempt to give a physical explanation to the spiritual world.

Even though they are at odds, the Bible and science agree in at least 3 areas.

1. LIFE BEGAN IN AFRICA/MESOPOTAMIA

Science

Most archeologists call eastern Africa the cradle of humankind. ‘Pre-historic’ remains have also recently been found in Morocco, which is still Africa.

The Bible

Scripture also affirms that life began in Africa. Notice the location given for the Garden of Edenโ€ฆ

Genesis 2:10-14 (NKJV)

10 Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads. 11 The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there. 13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which goes around the whole land of Cush. 14 The name of the third river isHiddekel;[a] it is the one which goes toward the east of [b]Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.

Wikipedia describes the location of these rivers…

Genesis 2:10โ€“14 lists four rivers in association with the garden of Eden: Pishon, Gihon, Chidekel (the Tigris), and Phirat (the Euphrates). It also refers to the land of Cushโ€”translated/interpreted as Ethiopia, but thought by some to equate to Cossaea, a Greek name for the land of the Kassites.[22] These lands lie north of Elam, immediately to the east of ancient Babylon, which, unlike Ethiopia, does lie within the region being described.[23] In Antiquities of the Jews, the first-century Jewish historian Josephus identifies the Pishon as what “the Greeks called Ganges” and the Geon (Gehon) as the Nile.[24]

2. ENERGY CANโ€™T BE CREATED OR DESTROYED

Science

First of all in science, laws are absolute. They are non-negotiable. Even if we try to challenge or resist them with technology, the laws will always win. That being said, THE LAW OF CONSERVATION OF ENERGY states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but only transferred from one form to another.

The Bible

God is absolute. He is non-negotiable. Even if we try to resist or challenge Him with our technology, God will always win. God is an all-powerful Spirit. He is eternal. He was not created and canโ€™t be destroyed. And yes, He can be transferred from one form to another.

Isaiah 40:28 (NKJV)

28 Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

Philippians 2:6-7 (NKJV)

6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [a]robbery to be equal with God, 7 but [b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

To me, The Law of Conservation of Energy sounds like scienceโ€™s attempt to define God.

3. LIFE SPREAD FROM WATER TO LAND

Science

Most of us remember from school that our science books taught that the earliest and smallest life on earth was first in the waters and then on land.

The Bible

Whether you believe Genesis is literal or symbolic, a literal week or thousands of years, all believers in God agree that He created the heavens and the earth in the exact order of Genesis. And in that order, God created the waters and the creatures in the waters first, just as science teachesโ€ฆ

Genesis 1:20-21 (NKJV)

20 Then God said, โ€œLet the waters abound with an abundance of living [a]creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the [b]firmament of the heavens.โ€ 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

I donโ€™t think itโ€™s a coincidence that both the Bible and science agree in such foundational areas. Hereโ€™s the thing. God created those brilliant scientific minds that contend He is not real. And, who can really prove that the sun is 93,000,000 miles away, or that the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. Who can travel that distance or speed to prove it? It takes faith in the formulas and scientists who โ€˜discoveredโ€™ these scientific โ€˜factsโ€™.

I guess science and the Bible agree on faith too.

SIMPLE EXPLANATION OF HOW GOD IS ‘THREE in ONE’, YET ‘ONE’…

wp-1484269858048.jpg
GOD SOMETIMES DESCRIBED HIMSELF ANTHROPOMORPHICALLY TO HELP US RELATE TO HIM…

God is a Spirit…

John 4:24 (NKJV)

24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.โ€

 God is invisible…

1 John 4:12 (NKJV)

12 No one has seen God at any time.

God is not male or female…

Numbers 23:19 (NKJV)

19 โ€œGod is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.

God does not have a face, hands, feet, arms, legs, a mouth, a heart or a brain…

God doesn’t breath…

He is a Spirit.

He’s 100% God.

The earth and universe cannot contain Him.

1 Kings 8:27 (NKJV)

27 โ€œBut will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!

He does not need time…He is outside of time…He is eternal.

Jesus is THE image of and represents the invisible God bodily.

Colossians 1:15 (NKJV)

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Colossians 2:9 (NKJV)

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;

He was there in the beginning. Elohim is a plural noun.

Genesis 1:26 (NKJV)

26 Then God said, โ€œLet Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;

He appeared several times before He took the form of the Son of God…Mary’s son.

Daniel 3:25 (NKJV)

25 โ€œLook!โ€ he answered, โ€œI see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.โ€

He took on the form of sinful flesh, using a body as a male.

Romans 8:3 (NKJV)

For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,

He is 100% God and was 100% man.

Philippians 2:6 (NKJV)

who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

He and Yahweh (God) are ONE (Elohim).

Angels are Spiritual beings that minister to God and to saints.

Hebrews 1:14 (NKJV)

14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

They occupy different celestial bodies, but can take human form.

Isaiah 6:2 (NKJV)

Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

They are neither male nor female…just like God.

When they take human form, they HAVE to use a male or female body.

Hebrews 13:2 (NKJV)

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels

Your spirit/soul/essence/consciousness, or however you want to say it, is invisible.

You can’t see it.

He places it in a male or female body.

Genesis 5:2 (NKJV)

He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.

We are placed within time, for now.

You are 100% spirit and 100% human, for now.

You can be a father or mother, son or daughter, brother or sister, manager or subordinate…all at the same time, yet be one person.

You as a father won’t relate to others in the same authority as you do as a brother, or a boss, or a coach, or a preacher. Each ‘person’ within you has a different authority, but you’re still one person.

Because we are 100% spirit and 100% human…

Aren’t we mind, body and spirit?

Because we have several authorities, or ‘persons’ within us, yet remain one person…

THEN…

It shouldn’t be so hard to understand that the authorities in ONE God can be ONE.

‘Trinity’ is just a word used to describe the essence of God.

He is not three God’s; He is one, just as we are person…

That’s what it means when He made us in His image. Not that we physically look like Him, but that we can have His essence. That we can communicate with Him. That we can feel as He feels, and LOVE as He loves.

God sometimes describes Himself to us anthropomorphically (ascribing human characteristics) for our benefit, to help us relate to Him…to help us understand Him.

The more we understand God, the easier it is for us love Him and help explain Him to others.

If this blesses you, please share it with someone else whom you feel it will bless.

NEVER TAKE FOR GRANTED THE BLESSING OF THE ABILITY TO BLINK…

20161130_124430.jpg

Please do me a favor. Do your best to AVOID BLINKING AS YOU READ THIS POST. I will make this short and sweet.

Many times we classify blessings as LITTLE and BIG. God has blessed us so abundantly with our wants, that sometimes we get our WANTS and NEEDS confused.

So, I encourage you to stop right now and thank God for the LITTLE THINGS in life that we sometimes overlook, look past or just don’t seeโ€ฆthose things we sometimes take for granted. Many are right before our eyes.

If youโ€™re having trouble thinking of any LITTLE THINGSโ€ฆgo ahead and blink your eyes now if you already havenโ€™t.

Doesnโ€™t that feel better?

Looks like the little things arenโ€™t that little after all:-)

Psalm 103:1-2 NKJV

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:

IS FAKE LAUGHTER LYING?

We’ve all done it!

To be polite…

To appease the boss…

To be a good audience…

To prevent hurting someone’s feelings when they weren’t really funny.

How many times do you fake laugh? How often do you type LOL when you didn’t really laugh-out-loud?

How many times do you say, “THAT’S HILARIOUS”… but you aren’t really laughing?

So, if it’s not really funny, and you pretend to laugh…is that considered lying?

Now, we all know that David pretended to be crazy to save his life, but I can’t find an example of someone pretending to laugh.

1 Samuel 21:12-14 (NKJV)

12 Now David (A)took these words [a]to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. 13 So (B)he changed his behavior before them, pretended [b]madness in their hands, [c]scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard. 14 Then Achish said to his servants, โ€œLook, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me?

What do you think?

WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES…

Nearly everyone is familiar with Leonardo Da Vinci’s THE LAST SUPPER.

It’s an iconic and well-loved work of art among many who call themselves believers in Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), and it’s recognized among those who don’t. It’s been displayed in churches and homes for centuries.

The painting portrays the evening that the Lord ate the Passover meal and instituted the Lord’s Supper with His disciples before He was betrayed.

Remember, Jesus Himself told us that God is a spirit and demands to be worshipped in spirit and TRUTH…

John 4:24 (NKJV)

24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.โ€

We also live in time when people claim to love THE TRUTH and reject FAKE NEWS.

So, with all that being said, what’s wrong with the famous painting, THE LORD’S SUPPER, based on these scriptures according to the Complete Jewish Bible translation…

Mark 14:18 (CJB)

18 As they were reclining and eating, Yeshua said, โ€œYes! I tell you that one of you is going to betray me.โ€

Matthew 26:20 (CJB)

20 When evening came, Yeshua reclined with the twelve talmidim;

According to the scriptures as well as the context of culture and time…THEY WERE NOT SITTING. THEY WERE RECLINING.

Of course there will be some who say, “Why does this matter?”

Those of us who claim to be Christians can be the worst at sometimes deciding ‘that doesn’t matter’ when it threatens our traditions and what we choose to believe.

So, why does it matter?

Because the painting does not depict the way it happened, and that’s not truth.

Because every painting or picture intended to portray Jesus has influenced thought for centuries.

Because every painting and picture intended to portray Jesus has shaped what and how people believe and has had an influence on the faith.

Because it shapes the way people ‘experience’ their faith and what they think is correct and incorrect.

Do you want people publishing images of you depicting an event in your honor wrongly, falsely or inaccurately? Of course not. Why should our Lord and Savior be any different?

The fact is that when you present some people with the truth, they are reluctant to, or refuse to accept it because they have been influenced by art that very well MAY NOT have been commissioned by God.

Maybe this is why He clearly commanded in regard to likenesses of Him…

Exodus 20:4 (NKJV)

โ€œYou shall not make for yourself a carved imageโ€”any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

FOR THE NITPICKY: DON’T BE SO ‘ANAL’ THAT YOU BECOME AN A**…

wp-1506969085176993967666.jpg

Itโ€™s okay to want things done the way you think to be correct. Itโ€™s okay to be particularโ€ฆto be a perfectionistโ€ฆitโ€™s okay to be detailed.

Itโ€™s okay to provide constructive criticism, but itโ€™s not okay to be petty or hypocritical.

Itโ€™s not okay to hold people to a higher standard that you hold yourself.

Itโ€™s okay to try to maintain control in your life, but not everyone else’s.

Remember how Jesus rebuked the scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 23. Read the entire chapter for context, but check out this verseโ€ฆ

Matthew 23:4 (NKJV)

For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on menโ€™s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

Jesus rebuked them for being โ€˜nitpickyโ€™ and overly critical hypocrites. They were obsessive about criticizing others and expressing their expectations while not holding themselves to the same standard.

People are much more willing to hear what we have to say if we arenโ€™t nitpicky over every little detail in regard to them. We can get to the point to where people wonโ€™t even listen to us when we are right.

People not only will avoid your good advice. They will avoid you.

People will view you as obnoxious, nasty, and overly opinionatedโ€ฆeven those closest to you.

The term for this obsession, derived from Freudian psychoanalysis, is referred to as anal-retentiveness, or simply โ€˜analโ€™.

Donโ€™t be so โ€˜analโ€™ that you become an a**

Remember what the Apostle Paul saidโ€ฆ

Romans 12:18 (NKJV)

If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

ARE YOU MORE LIKE PETER OR JUDAS (or both)…

chalkboard-2123965_19201315232428.jpg

Are you more like Peter?

Have you ever followed close behind Jesus…

Witnessed His power with your own two eyes…

Been a conduit of His anointing and love…

Walked with Him…

Talked with Him…

Spent intimate moments with Him?

But,

When things got tough, uncomfortable or uneasy you acted like you didn’t know Him. Have you comforted yourself in the company of His enemy? Have you ever followed Him from a distance?

Have you denied Him?

Mark 14:54  (NKJV)

54 But Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the servants and warmed himself at the fire.

John 18:25  (NKJV)

25 Now Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they said to him, โ€œYou are not also one of His disciples, are you?โ€ He denied it and said, โ€œI am not!โ€

Are you more like Judas?

Have you ever turned your back on Jesus for money? For influence? To satisfy your flesh? Have you gotten discouraged because things didn’t turn out as you thought they would. Have you ever put your motives above Godโ€™s motives? Have you ever put Him to open shame?

Have you betrayed Him?

John 12:4-6  (NKJV)

But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simonโ€™s son, who would betray Him, said, โ€œWhy was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii[a] and given to the poor?โ€ This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.

Matthew 26:14-17 (NKJV)

14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, โ€œWhat are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?โ€ And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. 16 So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him. 17 Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, โ€œWhere do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?โ€

Before we point a self-righteous finger at Peter or Judas, let us thank God for His grace and mercy because we have all been both of them.

Every time we yielded to our pride…our lust…temptationโ€ฆ

Every time we put others or ourselves before Him…

Every time we willingly lived contrary to His word…

Every time we influenced someone else to sin…

We have both denied and betrayed Him.

When we read about Peter denying Christ or Judas betraying Him, we are looking into a spiritual mirror.

Both were sorry for what they had done, but they both handled it differently.

Who are you more like?

Judas tried to return the money and was so grieved in His Spirit that he hung himself. He could have gotten on His knees and prayed for forgiveness. He could have rejoined the other eleven, admitted his mistake, and tell them he tried to return the money and been there when Jesus arose and ministered to them. They couldnโ€™t have condemned him too much because they all scattered. Donโ€™t you know that Jesus not only would have forgiven him, but commanded that his brother forgive him also? But, no. He hung himself in shame. If you have betrayed Him and not repented โ€“ youโ€™re like Judas.

Matthew 27:3-10 (NKJV)

Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, โ€œI have sinned by betraying innocent blood.โ€

And they said, โ€œWhat is that to us? You see to it!โ€

Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.

But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, โ€œIt is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood.โ€ And they consulted together and bought with them the potterโ€™s field, to bury strangers in. Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, โ€œAnd they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, 10 and gave them for the potterโ€™s field, as the Lord directed me.โ€[a]

After Peter denied Jesus, he rejoined the other eleven. He ran to the grave to find that Jesus wasnโ€™t there. He saw Thomas put his fingers in the wounds. He ate a seaside breakfast with the risen savior. And, Jesus restored Him to become one of His most powerful apostles. Judas could have done the same thing. If you have messed up, repented and been restored โ€“ youโ€™re like Peter.

John 21:15-17  (NKJV)

15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, โ€œSimon, son of Jonah,[a] do you love Me more than these?โ€

He said to Him, โ€œYes, Lord; You know that I love You.โ€

He said to him, โ€œFeed My lambs.โ€

16 He said to him again a second time, โ€œSimon, son of Jonah,[b] do you love Me?โ€

He said to Him, โ€œYes, Lord; You know that I love You.โ€

He said to him, โ€œTend My sheep.โ€

17 He said to him the third time, โ€œSimon, son of Jonah,[c] do you love Me?โ€ Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, โ€œDo you love Me?โ€

And he said to Him, โ€œLord, You know all things; You know that I love You.โ€

Jesus said to him, โ€œFeed My sheep.

Judas’ story ended in disgrace โ€“ Peters ended in grace.

So, even though we have all been like both, our stories donโ€™t have to end like that of Judas.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

WHY AREN’T CHRISTIANS CONCERNED WITH TEAMS WITH A DEVIL AS THE MASCOT…

If there’s one consistency between both the Old and New Testaments, it’s the fact that names matter to God. From God changing Abram’s name to Abraham to Yeshua changing Simon’s name to Peter (Cephas).

In an age when so many in the Body of Christ are politicizing sins that society considers BIG, while excusing those they consider small, the bible is clear that God takes how we identify ourselves very seriously…

Not many Christians are quick to name their children, Satan or Lucifer.

Why?

Because those names are used to identify the enemy, the accuser of the saints…the devil.

That’s why I don’t understand that while Christians are so passionately ‘campaign’ against the so-called BIG sins, why they never speak up against teams, many of which they allow their children to be a part of, that identify themselves with a devil.

They wear sports paraphernalia, fly flags, display bumper ‘stickers’ and worst of all cheer for, root for, in a sense ‘praise’…and glorify THE DEVILS!

Right now someone reading this knows in their heart it’s not right, but they are naturally inclined to do what Christians do when they want to continue doing something…look for reasons to justify it.

Do you think God is cool with you allowing your child to be identified as a ‘devil’?

Do you think God is okay with allowing a school, AAU team, or professional team to be identified as the DEVILS? The RED DEVILS? The BLUE DEVILS? etc.?

Names matter so much go God that He demands we be baptized in the NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Here name doesn’t mean the combination of consonants and vowels that make up ‘Yeshua’, ‘Jesus’, ‘Emmanuel’, Adonai, or even Ruach ha-kodesh (Holy Spirit). Names denote authority, character…who you are, or what it is. Think about the fact that God changed Jacob’s name to Israel.

Think about the fact that most Christians are content with calling a day chosen to commemorate Yeshua’s (Jesus’s) death, burial, and resurrection by a pagan goddess’s name (Easter), which is the same as (Eostre, Ishtar, Ashtoreth) one of the very names He forbid us to make mention of, one of the very names that Israel and Judah invoked (said) and provoked God to anger.

NAMES MATTER: WHY WE SHOULD CELEBRATE JESUSโ€™ RESURRECTION WITHOUT CALLING IT โ€˜EASTERโ€™โ€ฆ

Joshua 23:7 (NKJV)

and lest you go[a] among these nations, these who remain among you. You shall not make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause anyone to swear by them; you shall not serve them nor bow down to them,

Names matter, so we should stop trivializing what is important to Him.

NAMES MATTER (WHY WE SHOULD STOP CALLING EASTER…EASTER)

wp-1488719614942.jpg

As we come upon the season of celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Iโ€™m compelled to share what He placed in my heart years agoโ€ฆmy annual reminder.

John 4:24 proclaims that God is a spirit and we are commanded to worship Him in Spirit and Truthโ€ฆ.Spirit and Truth.

God also commanded in Joshua 23:7 that we are not to make mention of or swear by the names of pagan gods, particularly those that were worshiped by the people who surrounded Israel.

 Joshua 23: (NKJV)

and lest you go among these nations, these who remain among you. You shall not MAKE MENTION OF THE NAME of their gods, nor cause anyone to swear by them; you shall not serve them nor bow down to them,

Some of those names were Baal and Ashtoreth (Judges 2:12-15). One of Israelโ€™s greatest sins was when they โ€œdid evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and Asherahsโ€(Judges 3:7).

Well here we are in the 21st Century and the enemy knows you love the Lord and he canโ€™t get you to reject Him for an idol, but he did cleverly find a way to defile our worship and get us to commit blasphemy every time we refer to the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Yeshua,  Jesus Christ.

In fact, if you ask why do we call the celebration of our Lord, Easter, many Christians will admit they don’t know or have never even thought about it.

The name Easter is derived from the name of an Anglo-Saxon/Norse goddess named Ostre or Eostre. This is the same โ€˜goddessโ€™ that God forbade Israel to mention her name. The name is different in different culturesโ€ฆAstarte, Ishtar, wife of Baal, Ashoreth, Aphrodite, Easter.

Even though the names are different, in all of these cultures โ€˜sheโ€™ was worshiped as a fertility goddess.

What were some of the symbols of her worship?

Yes, you already knowโ€ฆeggs, and rabbits.

What better way for Satan to convince well-meaning Christians to disobey God by convincing them that they are depriving their children of some joy to keep these symbols alive for thousands of years.

The name Easter has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus. It doesnโ€™t even remotely make sense, but you canโ€™t get well-meaning Christians to stop using it because itโ€™s so ingrained in the way we think (head) and the way we do things (hands) (Revelations 13:16). Remember that God warned us through the apostle John that the spirit of the antichrist was already here and working (1 John 4:3, 2 Thessalonians 2:7).

 Revelation 13:16(NKJV)

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,

But some may say it doesnโ€™t matter what you call the celebration of His resurrection as long as you know the meaningโ€ฆ

Think of all of the names God changed in the bible. Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, Paul etcโ€ฆ

If names donโ€™t matter then why wonโ€™t most men take their wifeโ€™s maiden name when they marry?

If names don’t matter what man would allow his wife to keep her ex-husbands last name?

If names donโ€™t matter, then why is it important for us to be called by our name correctly?

Don’t you prefer being called by your own name?

Mary and Joseph were commanded to name Maryโ€™s son Jesus, Yeshua, because He will save his people from their sins (Jesus, Joshua, Yeshua all mean Savior, God Saves or God, Yahweh is salvation, but that is a different discussion).

Names matter!

Using the name of another goddess to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and convincing Christians to defile his worship with symbols of her worship is blasphemy, and it is in direct rebellion to what God commanded us NOT to do (Joshua 23:7).

In fact, when you think about it, calling it EASTER Sunday is no different from calling it, Mohammed Sunday or Buddha Sunday.

Let me be clear.

I think itโ€™s a wonderful thing to celebrate His death, burial and resurrection, but we must do it in Spirit and Truth.

Call it Resurrection Day, Resurrection Celebration, Jesus Lives Day you donโ€™t even HAVE to celebrate it at allโ€ฆbut please letโ€™s STOP calling it Easter.

Because names matter to us, and they matter to God.

Ephesians 1:17 (NIV)

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

LEMONADE WITHOUT SUGAR…

wp-1472302013866.jpgPeople love clichรฉs.

A well-placed clichรฉ makes conversations, speeches and even sermons more interesting. One very popular clichรฉ used when people have misfortune is or difficulty is, “When life gives you lemons make lemonade”.

BUT WHAT IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANY SUGAR?

What if you have a health condition that doesn’t allow you to have sugar?

Sometimes in life we have to faith our way through some difficult days…

Sometimes we have to take some medicine that just doesn’t taste good…

Sometimes you have to swallow a really big pill that’s hard to get down…

Some people can’t have sugar in their diet…

Sometimes your healing comes from something bitter.

AREN’T YOU GLAD THAT JESUS DIDN’T MAKE LEMONADE ON THE CROSS?

2 Timothy 2:3 tells us to endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12:2 teaches us to look to Jesus, who endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him.

People love quoting Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me” when they are trying to make their dreams come true, but this verse is most powerful when we are enduring life’s most difficult situations.

God wants us to always be able to make something good out of difficult situations, and to always see His will in them. As good soldiers of Jesus Christ, sometimes there’s nothing to make some situations feel ‘or taste’ better.

We just have to faith our way through and learn to sometimes drink lemonade without sugar.

 Psalm 3:19 (ESV)
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

WHAT IF THE ‘BIG O’ WAS TOO BIG? (God’s Wisdom in the ORGASM within Godly Marriage)…

Thy Kingdom Come…

When you stop and take look, you can see God’s wisdom in everything…and I mean EVERYTHING!

God’s first institution established in His Kingdom was the family. He put man and woman together with a plan. He told us to be fruitful and multiply because God wasn’t going to continue creating men from dust or women from men’s ribs.

God gave us the gift of physical intimacy (sex) to bring children into the world, and to enhance our marriages. God wants us to enjoy one another just as much as he wants us to enjoy Him, and that’s very clear in the bible.

Proverbs 5:19 (NKJV)

As a loving deer and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
And always be enraptured with her love.

Hebrews 13:4 (NKJV)

4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

He even told husbands and wives to ‘take care of each other’ intimately so that neither is tempted…

1 Corinthians 7: 1-5

Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me:

It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

God made sex a physical crescendo that builds to a climactic, brief culmination of intense pleasure sought after by both those who are married and unfortunately, unmarried….We will use the euphemism ‘THE BIG O’.  Everything God did has a holy purpose. It’s not God’s fault that we misuse His gift…and what a perfect gift!

Here’s where God’s wisdom comes in.

God knew…

If we were going to ‘be fruitful and multiply’…

If we were going to have long, healthy marriages…

Our gift would need to be something we look forward to…something we crave and not something we dread.

Few people want the physical crescendo without the ‘BIG O’…

And, few people want the ‘BIG O’ to come too soon…

But, dig this!

As much as we enjoy…

As much we anticipate the ‘BIG O’.

As much as we enjoy reaching that brief moment of euphoria…God was wise enough to make it brief.

It’s brief enough for us to look forward to it, but it’s short enough for us to enjoy it.

Think about it…no one would be able to withstand 5, 10, 15 uninterrupted minutes of the ‘BIG O’. I don’t even know if our bodies could take it.

If the ‘BIG O’ was too big or too long…we would dread it.

If the ‘BIG O’ was too big we would avoid it.

There would be no ‘be fruitful and multiply’.

There would be a strain on marriages due to lack of intimacy.

Even the most holy person can admit that a well-timed ‘BIG O’ is just the pressure release valve needed sometime to relieve us of the stresses of life.

God knew just how good to make it…Just how strong to make it…and just how long to make it.

I told you when you stop and look at it, you can see God’s wisdom in EVERYTHING.

It’s easy to see why the apostle Paul proclaimed…

Romans 11:33 (NKJV)

33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
