WHEN GOD USES THE ‘N-WORD'(In case you missed it)…

wp-1491849985989.

God has said it to me many times.

The โ€˜N-WORDโ€™

And I must admit that itโ€™s very rare that I like it.

Itโ€™s very hard for me to hear.

Sometimes, I think itโ€™s not fair.

I will think to myself, โ€œYou didnโ€™t say the โ€˜N-WORDโ€™ to himโ€ฆor to her!”

I know that God is sovereign, and He can say whatever He wants to say.

I know He loves me…knows whatโ€™s best for me…and everything He does is always working for my good.

I know He knows me better than I know myself.

Yes, I trust Him, and I submit to His perfect will for my life.

But, that doesnโ€™t make it hurt any less when God decides to respond to me withโ€ฆ

The โ€˜N-WORDโ€™

Sometimes I reason within myself, He really didnโ€™t mean that.

Sometimes I will keep pushing, trying to force a different responseโ€ฆ

But, still His answer remains to be…

The โ€˜N-WORDโ€™

As much as He loves me and gives me all of what I need and some of what I wantโ€ฆ

Sometimes God has to say…

The โ€˜N-WORDโ€™ to me

As much as I donโ€™t like it, I still love Him and trust Him.

I take peace in the fact thatย His grace is always sufficient for me.

How do you reactโ€ฆ

When God tells you โ€œNOโ€?

2 Corinthians 12: 8-9 (NKJV)

ย 8ย Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.ย 9ย And He said to me,ย โ€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.โ€ย Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

APPROACHING GOD SELFISHLY…

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT…

Minister Aldtric Johnson M.A.'s avatarBE BLESSTIFIED!

wp-1476042921282.jpgWe must love Godย  for who He is, not what He can do.

Can He heal? Yes!

Can He deliver? Yes!

Can He restore your marriage? Yes!

Can He make a way out of no way? Of course!

But, those arenโ€™t the only reasons we should come to Jesus, or tell people to come to Him. Who wants to be in relationship with someone only because of what you can do for them? We need to make sure that our prayers arenโ€™t only about us, but that we consistently intercede for others.

We even need to be careful of how we teach giving, and why we give. I hear so many people say, โ€œgive so you can be blessedโ€. If thatโ€™s your only reason for giving, then thatโ€™s giving selfishly. We need to give so we can be a blessing, to fund Kingdom work, and out of obedience, not justโ€ฆ

Watch “Minister Aldtric Johnson PSALM 118 PRAISE YOUR WAY OUT” on YouTube

Itโ€™s been stated that Psalm 117 is the midpoint of the bible with 594 chapters (even though Psalms arenโ€™t chapters) before and 594 after. That makes Psalm 118 just past the midpoint

If you are going through something, once you move just past the midpoint, youโ€™re on your way out.

I love Psalm 118 because its a wonderful encouragement for anyone who is โ€˜going throughโ€™ something.

Itโ€™s first and last verses are a powerful proclamation of praise that honors God and works as a weapon of spiritual warfare for His people.

Oh, give thanks to theย Lord, forย He isย good!

WAIT A MINUTE! DOES GOD APPROVE OF THAT STATEMENT?

presidential-seal-2287956_1920

Beware of statements that may seem right, but totally contradict the word of Godโ€ฆespecially from our leaders.

Press Secretary said:

“They elected someone to be strong and when he get’s hit he’s going to hit back.”

God said:

Matthew 5:39(NKJV)
But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.ย
(That means don’t hit back)

Peter 3:9 (NIV)
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.ย
(That means don’t insult or insult back)

Strong words are just thatโ€ฆwords. Always measure them against the word of God, and not you emotions or what you may think is right.

Remember thisโ€ฆ

Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV)

12ย There is a wayย that seemsย right to a man,
But its endย isย the way of death.

If itโ€™s contrary to the word of God, itโ€™s in defensible and will eventually lead to destruction.

Pray for all of our leaders to submit to the word of God, first of all for their individual salvation and relationships with God…and for the good of our nation.

‘WILL’ POWER VS. ‘WONโ€™T’ POWER VS. ‘WANT’ POWER…

wp-150887192064419656987.jpg

I think I can… I think I will.. I think I want to… I think I don’t need to… I think I won’t.

I won’t!

Sometimes the ‘The Little Train that Could’, should be the ‘The Train that Didn’t’…

Discipline. Control of oneโ€™s self. This is something that many of us struggle with our entire livesโ€ฆat least in particular areas of our lives.

Itโ€™s possible to very disciplined in some areas, while being out of control in others.

Disciplined in oneโ€™s finances, but not in oneโ€™s diet.

Disciplined with oneโ€™s credit, but not with oneโ€™s relationships.

Disciplined with exercise, but not with oneโ€™s prayer life.

Disciplined with work, but not with worship.

Most of the time we say we need more โ€˜will powerโ€™โ€ฆmeaning discipline over oneโ€™s own will.

But, maybe we need more power over our โ€˜wonโ€™t powerโ€™ or our โ€˜want powerโ€™.

Too many times our problem is the fact thatโ€ฆ

We will do it. We will say it. We will eat it. We will drink it. We will smoke it. We will watch it. We will, because we are driven by our wants. We let the power of wants (fleshly, carnal desires) overpower the power of our wills.

Maybe instead of praying for more will power, we should pray for more wonโ€™t power!

We wonโ€™t do it. We wonโ€™t say it. We wonโ€™t eat it. We wonโ€™t drink it. We wonโ€™t smoke it. We wonโ€™t watch it. We wonโ€™t because we arenโ€™t driven by our wants.

Galatians 5:16-21 (NKJV)

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[a] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[b]drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God

Did you know that God has provided a spiritual exercise to strengthen your โ€˜wonโ€™t powerโ€™? The problem is either we donโ€™t take advantage of it enough, or we do it to manipulate blessings out of God to feed our โ€˜want powerโ€™.

The exercise is fasting.

Fasting is an exercise in putting our flesh and desires under subjection so we wonโ€™t be ruled by our carnal desires, or even needs.

Look at what the Apostle Paul said through the inspiration of Godโ€™s Holy Spiritโ€ฆ

1 Corinthians 9:27 (NKJV)

27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

Now, look what God says about fasting in the book of Isaiahโ€ฆ

Isaiah 58:5 (NKJV)

Is it a fast that I have chosen,
A day for a man to afflict his soul?
Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush,
And to spread out sackcloth and ashes?
Would you call this a fast,
And an acceptable day to the Lord?

And, donโ€™t forget about how Jesus told us we can release the faith to move mountainsโ€ฆeven the mountains of our desires (our โ€˜willsโ€™ and our โ€˜wantsโ€™)โ€ฆ

Matthew 17:20-21 (NKJV)

20 So Jesus said to them, โ€œBecause of your unbelief;[a] for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, โ€˜Move from here to there,โ€™ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.โ€[b]

Every physical battle that you fight is a spiritual battle over your โ€˜willโ€™, your โ€˜wonโ€™t and your โ€˜wantsโ€™.

I pray that God gives you the strength to overcome whatever seems impossible to you today in the name of Christ Jesus the Son of the Living God.

BE BLESSTIFIED.

TRADITIONS FROM HELL (from my archives)…

wp-1486060420485.jpg

If God makes it so easy to join His organization (Romans 10:9), why do we make it so hard to join ย some of ours?

I was watching a television show in which a young lady hoping to join a prestigious college band was beaten into intensive care during her initiation, and it was swept under the rug and defended by those in authority to protect their tradition.

I’ve heard many comment and reason that such behavior is just ‘part of the process’…that some initiations and inductions are just ‘part of growing up’.

I’ve heard that enduring this foolishness with others breeds loyalty, brotherhood/sisterhood, comradery, etc.

Now, I’m sure some of you reading will defend it out of loyalty to your own beloved organizations and traditions, but if you’re a Christian…if you know God’s word…if you know the character and culture of His Kingdom…and if you’re honest with yourself, you know it’s not of God and makes no sense.

If it’s not of God, then it’s of the devil…

If it’s of the devil, then it’s straight from Hell.

How do I know it’s not of God?

Because God made joining His organization EASY for us!

It’s interesting how so many organizations, teams, clubs etc. make it so DIFFICULT to join…initiations, rituals, rites of passage, hazing, traditions…while, God makes it so EASY!

Romans 10:9 (NKJV)

ย 9ย that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.ย

The Body of Christ, His church is the most prestigious ‘organization’ of this earth and beyond.

The benefits of membership are eternal…

Yet, God makes it so easy to become part of His family.

But,

So many earthly organizations feel it’s such an honor to be inducted into their ranks that some have even died trying to get in. When you think about it…it’s quite absurd that people have shed blood to join some groups but…

Yeshua, Jesus Christ, paid the price of our admission to His church with His blood…

ย Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

But Heย wasย wounded for our transgressions,He wasย bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peaceย was upon Him,ย And by His stripes we are healed.

One of Jesus’ greatest battles was against foolish, senseless tradition (Matthew 15:1-20).

No organization on earth supersedes God’s and should never be no more difficult to become a part of than His church.

Even though some have even perverted and complicated โ€˜membershipโ€™ in His church, that was never His intention.

When any organization makes potential members submit themselves to violence, vulgar and profane language, embarrassment and possible harm as conditions of joiningโ€ฆthose activities are not of God.

This is not an indictment on all organizations that require some sort of ‘proving grounds’, but when it crosses God’s line, it’s gone too far.

Don’t get caught up trying to hold onto, defend and condone traditions from Hell.

Leaders, especially spiritual leaders , are very highly scrutinized and often criticized if they โ€˜donโ€™t have it all togetherโ€™. We can find ourselves expecting them to be near perfect. But, when we read our bibles, we find that many of Godโ€™s most anointedโ€ฆthose whom He gave great responsibility were lacking in many areas.

Moses and the Apostle Paul werenโ€™t the greatest speakers.

Exodus 4:10 (NKJV)

THE NEXT TIME SOMEONE ‘FLIPS YOU OFF’ IN TRAFFIC (OR WHEREVER)…

wp-15085082506831143257613.jpg

A few days ago as I was on my way to work, I went around a lady who was driving a little slow in the fast lane. I was hoping to make traffic light before it changed. I missed it, and threw my head back in frustration. As I waited on the light I looked in the rear view mirror and the lady slowly raised her middle finger at me. She was in the way, but raises her finger at me.

Did it make me angry, at first? Yes! I wondered if she were a Christian. In fact, I looked around in my car for my bible to flash it in her face in hopes to convict her, but that may have been counter-productive. Plus was I doing it to make her angry, or convict her? Then I thought about what Godโ€™s word saysโ€ฆ

1 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)

not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

ย Romans 12:21New King James Version (NKJV)

2Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

ย So, I prayed for her as I drove off.

I prayed that God forgive her.

I prayed that God soften her heart.

I prayed that God grant her His peace and His spirit that He can be pleased in her and that she can bear good fruit for Him.

And, I asked God to forgive me for my initial anger and if I provoked her.

People donโ€™t have to know you are praying for them for God to hear and answer. In fact, sometimes people can get angry that youโ€™re praying for themโ€ฆ

โ€œWhat are you trying to tell me?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t need you praying for me!โ€

โ€œWhat are you praying for me for?โ€

โ€œYou need to pray for yourself!โ€

And, sometimes they donโ€™t even believe in God or prayer. But, the bible promises that the prayers of the righteous prevails much (James 5:16).

And, donโ€™t forget the paralyzed man who was forgiven and healed not because of his faith, but because of the faith of the men who carried himโ€ฆ

Mark 2:1-5 (NKJV)

And again He entered Capernaum afterย someย days, and it was heard that He was in the house.ย 2ย Immediately[a]ย many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receiveย them,ย not even near the door. And He preached the word to them.ย 3ย Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by fourย men.ย 4ย And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.

5ย When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic,ย โ€œSon, your sins are forgiven you.โ€

The next time someone flips you off in public, or whereverโ€ฆ

But, God fixes some situations so that the only comfort you receive comes from reading His word.

That keeps us close to Him.

Have you ever opened your mouth to talk to someone, and the Spirit of the LORD stopped youโ€ฆthen you opened your bible instead to just the right word? You saw just the right verse on a billboard or bumper sticker?

God Himself comforted you with His word. Not through someone else this time…HIMSELF.

Thatโ€™s because God wants you to talk to Him. Take take comfort in Him. He wants to be that REAL. That ALIVE. That CLOSE.

picsart_10-18-091927165629.jpg

Have you ever thought about the fact that the same healing. The same miracle. The same encounter with Jesus that was available to the Pharisees as was the man who had his withered hand healed by Jesus, or those who witnessed the miracle.

They all went to โ€˜churchโ€™, but for different reasons.

Jesus went to be a blessing.

The man with the withered hand possible out of habit, possible because He thought Jesus would be thereโ€ฆbut he went with enough faith to be healed.

The Pharisees went to accuse Jesus in hopes to destroy Him.

Be very careful of what’s in your heart when you go to church.

Make sure the devil didn’t bum a ride to church inside you.

Make sure youโ€™re always going for the right reasons. To have an encounter with God through our Lord and Savior Yeshua, Jesus Christ. And, make sure you go in faith.

ย Mark 3:1-6 (NKJV)

3ย And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. 2ย So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. 3ย And He said to the man who had the withered hand, โ€œStep forward.โ€ 4ย Then He said to them, โ€œIs it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?โ€ But they kept silent. 5ย And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, โ€œStretch out your hand.โ€ And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.[a] 6ย Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.

DON’T LET HAPPINESS STEAL YOUR JOY…

Joy lives on the inside. Happiness only comes from the outside.

God’s joy lives independently. It is self sustaining and sustains.

Joy creates…It creates hope.

Determination.

Peace.

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV)

Then he said to them, โ€œGo your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD IS your strength.โ€

The joy of the LORD โ€œIS” implies that joy is establishedโ€ฆjust like God Himself. God IS. This is because joy is a Fruit of His Spirit and an aspect of His character. Joy has power.

Joy protects the peace inside your heart.

Happiness is symbiotic, depending on the temporary condition that created it.

They both live and die together.

Happiness depends on something to happen. Notice thisโ€ฆ

John 13:17 (KJV)

If ye know these things, happy are ye IF ye do them.

Happy are ye “IF” implies something has to happen first.

Even happiness about spiritual things depends on a condition…joy.

Happiness has no power. Happiness is not a Fruit of the Spirit. It is vulnerable to situations.

God gives joy. The world gives happiness.

The devil wants to steal your joy.  And, he can sometimes manipulate situations to allow happiness, or the lack thereof to steal, kill or destroy your joy.

Donโ€™t let what’s going on around you kill whatโ€™s inside you.

Let whatโ€™s inside rule whatโ€™s going on around you.

WHEN RESPECT BECOMES WORSHIP/WOULD YOU HAVE BEEN A PHARISEE?

wp-1479908081172.jpg

The spirit of the Pharisees is alive and well today. The expectations. The hypocrisy. And, how God feels about it has not changed.

Think about it. What did Jesus say?

Matthew 15:1-3 (NKJV)

Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, โ€œWhy do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.โ€ He answered and said to them, โ€œWhy do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

We must always remember which of our beloved and expected traditions and symbols are of God and which are of man.

We must remember that it’s not fair to judge what’s in someone’s heart because they don’t have the same affinity to a tradition, symbol or person as someone else feels they should.

And, that no matter how long they may  have endured, devotion to the traditionโ€ฆthe symbolโ€ฆthe person should never be so dear that it becomes worship.

I have a few honest questions that I would like for you as a Christian to answer to yourself from a purely spiritual perspective. Not political. Not social. Not racial. From Godโ€™s perspective with the bible as the standard.

How many fraternities? Sororities? Organizations? Have forced or pressured people to engage in sinful behavior to become members? How much of this behavior has become a tradition?

How many people blindly support what their parents, leaders, ancestors, pastor, coach did or does and seeks to excuse it whether itโ€™s right or wrong?

Is standing and placing your hand on your heart actually an act of worship?

How many people have allowed their devotion to symbols to become worship. Statues (graven images). Flags. Crosses. Pictures. Logos.

How many people have sworn in court on a bible in which God forbids swearing?

How many people have taken an oath of office on a bible in which God forbids taking oaths?

Matthew 5:33-37 (NKJV)

33 โ€œAgain you have heard that it was said to those of old, โ€˜You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.โ€™ 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is Godโ€™s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let your โ€˜Yesโ€™ be โ€˜Yes,โ€™ and your โ€˜No,โ€™ โ€˜No.โ€™ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

James 5:12  (NKJV)

12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your โ€œYesโ€ be โ€œYes,โ€ and your โ€œNo,โ€ โ€œNo,โ€ lest you fall into judgment.[a]

Yes, Romans 13 tells us to be subject to the established authorities because they are ordained by God, but we must read that in context of what Peter said when confronted with not complying with the officials. Iโ€™m just going to post it below for contextโ€ฆ

Acts 5:22-29 (NKJV)

22 But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported, 23 saying, โ€œIndeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside[a] before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!โ€ 24 Now when the high priest,[b] the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be. 25 So one came and told them, saying,[c] โ€œLook, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!โ€ 26 Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned. 27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, 28 saying, โ€œDid we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Manโ€™s blood on us!โ€ 29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: โ€œWe ought to obey God rather than men.

Now, if that were today. Would they be criticized?

Godโ€™s word supersedes any and every tradition that we have established.

Don’t let your devotion, dedication, loyalty and respect doesn’t subtly turn into worship…

Before you judge what I have said, first ask yourself. Did God establish what is so dear to me? Or did man or woman?

Ask yourself would I have been one of those Pharisees confronting Jesus over not honoring the traditionsโ€ฆeven the law of Mosesโ€ฆ

Matthew 19:8-9 (NKJV)

He said to them, โ€œMoses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality,[d] and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.โ€

Many people point a self-righteous finger and say โ€œShameโ€ when they read or hear a sermon about the Pharisees, but you prove by your behavior to parallel situations today how you would have reacted had you lived back then.

What is your reaction when someone doesn’t honor, respect or submit to something the way you feel they should?

I would love to hear your respectful responses.

YOU’RE ALWAYS IN POSITION TO PRAY/ 9 PROPER POSTURES (REBOOT)…

wp-1489325386452.jpg

Iโ€™ve found the most intimate refreshing place to pray at my home. I love sitting in my chair on my front porch and enjoying quality time with God in prayer. When I’m out there, it’s like it’s just Him and me. Yes I pray everywhere. But, that place is special.

And yes, I said sitting.

You see, it’s good to get on your knees in submission to God, but contrary to what many may have been taught it’s not mandatory. That is not the exclusively acceptable prayer posture.

Your proper prayer posture isn’t the position of your body, but of your heart and spirit…

To a humble spirit… it’s about humility.

Psalm 51:17 (NKJV)

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heartโ€”
These, O God, You will not despise

1- On Your Knees

Ephesians 3:14 (NKJV)

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[a]

ย 2 – In Your Bed

Psalm 4:4 (NKJV)

Be angry, and do not sin.
Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.

3 – Out Loud

Psalm 34:6 (NKJV)

This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.

4 – Silently

1 Samuel 1:13 (NKJV)

13ย Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.

5 – Hands Lifted

1 Timothy 2:8 (NKJV)

I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;

6 – Eyes Open

John 17:1 (NKJV)

Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: โ€œFather, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,

7 – Head Bowed

Genesis 24:26 (NKJV)

26ย Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord.

8 – Prostrate

Matthew 26:39 (NKJV)

39ย He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, โ€œO My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.โ€

9 – Standing

Mark 11:25 (NKJV)

โ€œAnd whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

God just wants you to be humble. Many have even misunderstood โ€œcome boldlyโ€ in the book of Hebrewsโ€ฆ

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

It’s not about ‘telling God what to do’, but direct access to Him. We don’t have to go through a priest, or a preacher to talk to Him…just submit to Him humbly in prayer through our Lord and Savior Yeshua, Jesus Christ.

So, bow your head, lie in your bed, fall on your knees, lift up your hands, as long as you’re sincere…God will hear.

9 EASY WAYS TO CARVE OUT MORE QUALITY TIME FOR GOD DURING YOUR BUSY DAY…

wp-1487602762822.jpg

Most of us lead very busy lives. How many times have you thought, said or heard someone say…I don’t have time to read, or study my bible, pray or go to church?

How many feel that God happily accepts being an after thought or ignored?

How many feel it’s okay to say you believe, but never live like God is real or like they are in true relationship with Him?

How many people say through…

Jobs…

Careers…

Family…

Organizations…

Youth Sports and Activities…

Even church activities…

That they don’t have time for God, prayer, reading and studying their bible or worship?

The truth is that God doesn’t give us blessings to replace Him.

Our blessings should never become barriers or burdens to our relationship with Him.

Here are a few simple, easy suggestions to carve out quality time with God.

1. WHEN YOU CAN’T SLEEP AT NIGHT

We all have those nights when we canโ€™t sleep. You may not even necessarily be worried. You may be excited about the next day. You may have awaken to use the bathroom and couldnโ€™t go back to sleep. For whatever reason, you just lie there in the bed. You may turn on the television. Maybe God is trying to squeeze in some quality time with you before you get busy during the day. Itโ€™s the ideal time to be close to Him. No distractions. No noise. Just you and God. You can lie there and prayโ€ฆget on your kneesโ€ฆget up and lift up your hands and praise Godโ€ฆYou can go outside and adore His awesome creationโ€ฆYou can read your bible, or even study a specific topic. God can give you fresh revelation during these intimate times. You will find yourself feeling so much closer to Him, but most of all you will please and bless Him. Best of all, you will find yourself yawning and going back into a wonderful restful sleep for the rest ot the night (or morning).

Psalm 16:7 (NKJV)

7ย I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.

ย Psalm 63:6 (NKJV)

6ย When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.

ย 2. WHEN YOU FIRST WAKE UP

I used to be in the habit of going to the gym early in the morning to start my day. I would say a short prayer and then go โ€˜work out my bodyโ€™. I ruptured my Achilles tendon one day and found myself in a boot and a cast for several months. Not much later, God cultivated out of that the practice of going outside on my porch, and spending rich quality time in prayer and praise before I do anything else. I replaced worshiping my flesh in a sense with worshiping Him. Now, you donโ€™t have to go outside, but itโ€™s not difficult to kneel and pray as soon as you wake up. Before you drink your coffee. Before you watch the news. Before you check your social media. I think it is a foolish thing to begin the day without submitting ourselves to and talking to God first. Even if you donโ€™t get on your kneesโ€ฆlie in your bedโ€ฆget up and bow your headโ€ฆlift up holy handsโ€ฆjust make sure your heart is humble and your prayer is sincere and not rushed.

Psalm 63:1 (NKJV)

63ย O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.

3. WHEN YOU ARE USING THE BATHROOM IN THE MORNING.

This is something we all have to do when we wake up. Keep a bible in the bathroom, or use your bible app on your phone. This is another time when you are alone and can choose a verse of the day on which to meditate or even read a chapter each morning. A verse of the day is good for memory or meditation, but it should never take the place of real in-depth bible study. God doesnโ€™t mind you making His word #1 while you do #2.

4. THANK GOD FOR AND BLESS EVERY MEAL (EVEN SNACKS)

Make it a point to thank God for every meal you eat. It doesnโ€™t have to be a long drawn out prayer, but a sincere thank you for the awesome blessing of having food to eat. Donโ€™t be ashamed to thank Him for your food while you are in publicโ€ฆat lunch with co-workersโ€ฆat a lunch meeting. Also, itโ€™s very important to bless each meal and ask God that it nourish your body and not harm it. Much of our food we donโ€™t prepare ourselves and we donโ€™t know how it could harm are bodiesโ€ฆAlways bless every meal and shack.

1 Timothy 4:4-5 (NKJV)

4ย For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5ย for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

5. WHILE YOU’RE DRINKING YOUR COFFEE

Whether you have a relaxing cup of coffee, tea, juice or whatever your morning beverage may be, itโ€™s an ideal time to read Godโ€™s wordโ€ฆprayโ€ฆor even praise God each morning. What do you read or watch while you sip on your coffee? Why not make it Godโ€™s word?

6. WHILE CHECKING YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA STATUS

How many times a day do your check your social media? Many people check their’s as soon as they wake upโ€ฆthen claim they donโ€™t have time to read the bible. Check out what God has posted in His word before you check out whatโ€™s going on in social media. Thereโ€™s nothing wrong with checking you Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or whatever. Of, course there are even devotionals on there just like this one, but never let it take the place of reading and studying your bible.

7. DURING YOUR LUNCH BREAK AT WORK OR AFTERNOON BREAK

Your lunch break is your time. Why not dedicate a few moment of it, or even an entire lunch break once a week to reading and studying Godโ€™s word. You can even volunteer at a mission or serve others in some way during your lunch break from time to time. Itโ€™s just another opportunity to spend quality time with God during your day. To prove to Him and yourself that you really value time with Him and love Him. You will find it to be not a burden or task, but a time of refreshing and fellowship to help you stay focused and make it through the rest of the day.

8. TAKE A VACATION DAY JUST TO SPEND WITH GOD

Most of us have vacation days. Have you ever taken a vacation day just to spend in prayer, study, praise and fellowship with God? Devoting one of your vacation days to God is an awesome mini-sabbatical opportunity to grow closer to the God of our salvation through our Lord and Savior, Yeshua, Jesus Christ.

9. LISTEN TO GOSPEL MUSIC SOMETIMES OTHER THAN IN WORSHIP

Of course thereโ€™s nothing wrong with fun music or love songs as long as they donโ€™t contain ungodly lyrics. But, thereโ€™s a world of good Gospel music of every genre that you can use to turn your leisure time into worship time. It doesn’t have to be a hymnal. Like my wife, Gospel Jazz Artist Mechelle Johnson (Yep thatโ€™s a plug:-) But, good Gospel music is another way to help stay focused while you work or play.

God knows that we make time for what and who are important to us. These are just a few suggestions of how to make more time for God. Thereโ€™s no excuse to say we are too busy for Him.

Proverbs 3:6 (NKJV)

6ย In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a] your paths.

LUKE 19:40

TBT: LOVING PEOPLE YOU DON’T LIKE…

wp-1490895857302.jpg

We all have them in our livesโ€ฆpeople that we just donโ€™t like, or who don’t like us.

Theyโ€™re in our familiesโ€ฆon our jobsโ€ฆin our churchesโ€ฆwe see them on televisionโ€ฆsometimes weโ€™re even married to them.

We may or may not know them, and they may or may not know us.

It could be that you used to be very close, but something happened.

You changed.

They changed.

Life happened and you reacted to it differently.

It could be that you have opposing views on a cause that is near and dear to your heart.

Sometimes you donโ€™t even know why. It could be something very subtle.

Have you ever found yourself saying this?

“I donโ€™t know why, but I just donโ€™t like ___________.โ€

Or,

Thereโ€™s something about ____________ that I just donโ€™t like.

We may not like the way they lookโ€ฆthe way they behaveโ€ฆthe way they treat othersโ€ฆthey may have even mistreated us or someone we love.

Stop right now and take a moment to think about the people who you donโ€™t like.

Be careful, because… DON’T LIKE can lead to HATE.

Or, sometimes, DON’T LIKE is actually HATE in denial.

We all know that God commands that we love everyone, just as He loves everyone. In fact, He goes so far as to tell us to love our neighbor as ourselvesโ€ฆand defines a neighbor in the Parable of the Good Samaritanโ€ฆ

Luke 10:25-37 (NKJV)

ย 25ย And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, โ€œTeacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?โ€ย 26ย He said to him,ย โ€œWhat is written in the law? What is your readingย of it?โ€ย 27ย So he answered and said, โ€œย โ€˜You shall love the Lordย your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,โ€™[h]ย andย โ€˜your neighbor as yourself.โ€™โ€[i]ย 28ย And He said to him,ย โ€œYou have answered rightly; do this and you will live.โ€ย 29ย But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, โ€œAND WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?โ€ย 30ย Then Jesus answered and said:ย โ€œA certainย manย went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, woundedย him, and departed, leavingย himย half dead.ย 31ย Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.32ย Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.ย 33ย But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.ย 34ย So he went toย himย and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.ย 35ย On the next day, when he departed,[j]ย he took out two denarii, gaveย themย to the innkeeper, and said to him, โ€˜Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.โ€™ย 36ย So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?โ€ย 37ย And he said, โ€œHe who showed mercy on him.โ€ย Then Jesus said to him,ย โ€œGO AND DO LIKEWISE.โ€

Jesus chose this example because, as most of you know, the Jews and Samaritans DID NOT like each other. Some say that they hated one another, and through that context He gives us His expectation for us.

God already knew when He commanded that we love one another that we wouldโ€ฆ

Have opposing viewsโ€ฆ

Hurt one anotherโ€ฆ

Betray one anotherโ€ฆ

Abuse one anotherโ€ฆ

Sometimes be innocent victimsโ€ฆ

But, still He said love EVERYONE!

How do we do that?

Here are a few suggestions to help you love someone you don’t like…

REMEMBER THEYโ€™RE GODโ€™S CHILD TOO

We were all created in the image of Almighty God. Jesus died for all of our sins, in fact the bible saysโ€ฆ

2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)

9ย The Lord is not slack concerningย Hisย promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[a]ย not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Notice what King David said after he had Uriah killed so that he could have his wifeโ€ฆ

Psalm 51:4 (NKJV)

4ย Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And doneย thisย evil in Your sightโ€”That You may be found just when You speak,[a]
Andย blameless when You judge.

When someone hurts youโ€ฆthey are transgressing Godโ€™s commandment to love everyone, so they are hurting God 1st.

Always remember that GOD DOESNโ€™T LOVE YOUR ENEMY ANY LESS THAN HE LOVES YOU! Just because we donโ€™t like someone, doesnโ€™t mean that God doesnโ€™t love them.

Even though they wonโ€™t, He wants everyone to accept Him and be saved. As they brutally crucified Jesus, He lovingly said, โ€œFather forgive them, for they know not what they doโ€ (Luke 23:34)

DO SOMETHING KIND FOR THEM

One of the most powerful things you can do for someone who you donโ€™t like, or for someone who doesnโ€™t like you is to make a conscious effort to be KIND to them.

Kindness is a Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23). Being KIND and NICE are two different things…ย Click here to find out more about Kind vs Nice)

You can be NICE to someone who you hate. You can be NICE to someone while positioning yourself to stab them in the back.

Being kind to someone is LOVE IN ACTION. Itโ€™s doing whatโ€™s best for them in spite of how you feel about them, or how they feel about you. Itโ€™s doing whatโ€™s best for them even if itโ€™s unpleasant or uncomfortable for you are them.

Just as in the Parable of the Good Samaritan, being kind to someone you donโ€™t like forces you into showing them love. It plants a seed of Godโ€™s love into them and anyone else who may witness the kindness.

Kindness is exercising your love muscle. It allows you the opportunity to not only see them as God sees them, but to act towards them as God does towards us when we hurt Him.

ย YOU CAN LOVE THE PERSON AND HATE THE BEHAVIOR

Do you think that God loves all of our behavior? Of course not. He hates sinโ€ฆand we all sin.

God hates sin, but loves the sinnerโ€ฆand thatโ€™s what He expects us to do. When we accept Jesus and repent of our sins, Heโ€ฆ

Propitiates our sinsโ€ฆcovers or atones for them. (1 John 2:2)

And,

Justifies usโ€ฆor counts us as being righteous. (Romans 5:1)

And, even those who have not accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior are recipients of His mercy He loves enough to withhold His wrath even though He doesnโ€™t LIKE their behavior. (Luke 6:36)

God expects us to look past the sin and love the person that He made in His image. Is it easy? No! But, thatโ€™s where Philippians 4:13 is most powerfulโ€ฆ

Philippians 4:13(NKJV)

13ย I can do all things through Christ[a]ย who strengthens me.

ย Just as God does, we can learn to love the person and hate the behavior.

We can love them, and dislike how the are.

FIND SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE IN COMMON WITH THEM

Another way that you can find it within yourself to love someone who you donโ€™t like is to find something that you have in common with them.

The key to conflict resolution is finding common ground. We all have and will sin. We all have to die one day. We all want to be happy. We all want to be valued.

Look at what the apostle Paul did to reach others for Christโ€ฆ

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (NKJV)

19ย For though I am free from allย men,ย I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;ย 20ย and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to thoseย who areย under the law, as under the law,[a]ย that I might win thoseย who areย under the law;ย 21ย to thoseย who areย without law, as without law (not being without law toward God,[b]ย but under law toward Christ[c]), that I might win thoseย who areย without law;ย 22ย to the weak I became as[d]ย weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to allย men,ย that I might by all means save some.ย 23ย Now this I do for the gospelโ€™s sake, that I may be partaker of it withย you.

We all have more in common than we may think. Sometimes when we donโ€™t like someone, we donโ€™t want to see what we have in common with them.

Finding something in common with them is a way to see yourself in themโ€ฆhence, โ€œLove your neighbor as yourselfโ€.

ย REMEMBER THAT SOMETIMES, YOUโ€™RE THE PERSON SOMEONE DOESNโ€™T LIKE

When weโ€™re honest with ourselvesโ€ฆsometimes we are that person that someone doesnโ€™t like. Not only that, sometimes we have given them a GOOD reason to โ€˜not like usโ€™.

Lastly, remember thisโ€ฆWhen we judge that someone deserves to โ€˜not be likedโ€™, we are placing that same judgment on ourselvesโ€ฆ

Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV)

Do Not Judge

7ย โ€œJudge not, that you be not judged.ย 2ย For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

Notice that I didnโ€™t try to convince you to like anyone. Just learn to love them through what you dislike about them.

THE REASON NICENESS ISN’T A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT…

wp-1474637621818.jpg

Have you ever noticed how little the bible says about being NICE?

Does God ever tell us to be nice? To the contrary, the bible says be careful when men speak well of you…thats being nice.

Luke 6:26 ย (NKJV)

26ย Woe to you[a]ย when all[b]ย men speak well of you,
For so did their fathers to the false prophets.

The bible speaks of men flattering and blessing with their mouths but, hiding what’s in their hearts.

Psalm 5:9 (NKJV)

9ย Forย there isย no faithfulness in their mouth;
Their inward partย isย destruction;
Their throatย isย an open tomb;
They flatter with their tongue.

Psalm 62:4New King James Version (NKJV)

4ย They only consult to castย himย down from his high position;
They delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth,
But they curse inwardly.ย

That’s being nice.

There’s a reason that being nice isn’t a fruit of the spirit. The devil knows how to be ‘nice’…

2 Corinthians 11:14 (NKJV)

14ย And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.ย However, kindness is an outward expression of love. It’s doing what best for others with a sincere heart, even if it’s uncomfortable to them.

Telling someone that they acted foolishly may not seem nice, but it is kind. Giving loving constructive criticism may not be nice, but it’s kind. Disciplining a child, (or adult) may not be nice, but it’s kind.

Here’s how I put it…

Being NICE is being good with a personal agenda.

Being KIND is being good with God’s agenda.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

22ย But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,ย 23ย gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

THE LORD IS FOR ME AMONG THOSE WHO HELP ME (PSALM 118:7a)…

wp-1479483196969.jpg

We all need it sometimes…Whether we admit it or not.

No matter how big or small.

No matter how rich or poor.

In some form or another we all need it from time to time…

Some more than othersโ€ฆbut still all.

Everyone needs help sometimes.

Sometimes itโ€™s help getting UPโ€ฆwhen we fallen.

Sometimes itโ€™s help getting DOWNโ€ฆwhen we have exalted ourselves.

Make no mistake though, that when it comes through someone.

When someone helps you willingly or unwillinglyโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s the hand of God.

Take a moment and thank God for those who have HELPEDโ€ฆare HELPINGโ€ฆand have been ordained to HELP you.

Psalm 118:7a (NKJV)

7ย Theย Lordย is for me among those who help meโ€ฆ

THE POWER IN DOODLING GOD’S WORD (SCRIBBLING SCRIPTURE)…

picsart_10-09-10127945972.jpg

Have you ever seen people doodle during a meeting? Do you?

Do you draw? Do your write your name in cursive? Do you write your families’ names? Do you play tic-tac-toe?

If so, I have a powerful suggestion for you. I know we all have our smart devices now, but keep a note pad or notebook handy. Before your meetings, lectures, conferences, classes, and find a scripture and write it down.

Doodle this verse during your meeting…While you wait at the doctor’s office…While you listen to the lecture…

Write it downโ€ฆ. Print it… Write it in cursive….scribble it…over and over again!

This is a powerful tool to help you maintain focus on God and power through negativity. It’s also a powerful tool to hide the word in your heart…to memorize itโ€ฆto meditate on it.

Go ahead…try it!

Start with this one…

Psalm 34:1ย (NKJV)

I will bless theย Lordย at all times;
His praiseย shallย continuallyย beย in my mouth.

IT’S NOT A ‘GOOD’ MORNING UNTIL IT’S A ‘GOD’ MORNING (From my archives)…

wp-1493832760508.

How many times have you done it? You jumped out of bed, and hit the ground running. You got dressed, maybe grabbed a bite to eat and started your day. Then here come the challengesโ€ฆ

Family asking questions they could have asked last nightโ€ฆ

Canโ€™t find your keysโ€ฆ

Horrible trafficโ€ฆ

More horrible co-workersโ€ฆ

Everyone seems to be pushing all your buttons all morning long!

Then, just before lunch you realize it. How could you have forgotten? Yes, the bed felt good and you lay there a few more moments, so when you jumped up you had to get going. But, how could you get going without telling Godโ€ฆ

โ€œGood Morning!โ€ (Psalm 63:1)

โ€œI bless your Holy Name this morning!โ€ (Matthew 6:9)

โ€œThank you for keeping while I slept!โ€ (Psalm 4:8)

โ€œThank you for brand new grace and mercy this morning!โ€ (Lamentations 3:22-24)

โ€œPlease forgive me of all my sins!โ€ (Psalm 41:4)

โ€œNo matter what happens today I love you and I trust you!โ€ (Psalm 31:13-14)

ย โ€œThank you for sending the living word as your Son to die for my sins.โ€ (John 1:14)

ย โ€œPlease provide all of our needs for this day.โ€ (Matthew 6:11)

ย โ€œ Lord, I look forward to being with you where you are when you return.โ€ (John 17:24)

ย โ€œ I pray for peace and prosperity in your Holy City of Jerusalem and salvation for your people.โ€ (Psalm 122:6-9, Romans 10:1)

ย โ€œI declare to have a good day in your Name!โ€ (Psalm 118:24)

โ€œFor yours is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever!โ€ (Matthew 6:13)

โ€œIn the name of Yeshua, Jesus Christ the Son of the only living God, and you are one.โ€ (John 14:13-14)

ย โ€œI love you because you first love meโ€ฆAmen!โ€ (1 John 4:19)

Of course, you donโ€™t have to use this exact prayer, but how dare us begin are day without talking to God first! Sometimes we forget, but sometimes we may just decide to skip praying. There are even mornings when we are going through trials that we honestly donโ€™t FEEL LIKE PRAYING.

But, it is a foolish thing to be bold enough step out into this world (or even stay at home) without talking to God first.

If you arenโ€™t having a โ€˜good dayโ€™โ€ฆdid you pray? And, even if you did, stop and think of how much โ€˜worseโ€™ your day could have been if you didnโ€™t.

Remember, before you โ€˜hit the ground runningโ€™โ€ฆhit the ground in prayer!

COME ON NOW…EVEN GOD ISN’T ALWAYS ‘DEEP’!

sphotoeditor-20171007_1850201002853676.jpg

We as writers and ministers can find ourselves seeking to share something ‘deep’. Something profound that makes one sit back and say, “Wow!” If we arenโ€™t careful we can feel pressured to validate our anointing or education with quotes, discourses, and words of wisdom that confirm God speaks through us. The fact is, when we are fortunate enough to do so, it IS God and not us.

Have you ever been around someone who never talks normal, but feels every word must be a divine revelation? Every sentence must be crafted perfectly? Every moment is a teaching or mentoring moment…they can’t just have a simple conversation?

Have you ever noticed how a very charismatic speaker can make something really simple sound deep? Thatโ€™s why we should never confuse charisma with anointing.

But, even God Himself isn’t always DEEP.

John 3:16 (NKJV)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting lifeโ€ฆ

That’s simple.

Romans 10:9 (NKJV)

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be savedโ€ฆ

That’s simple.

Luke 6:31 (NKJV)

And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewiseโ€ฆ

That’s simple.

Even the Apostle Paul admitted he wasnโ€™t always deep eitherโ€ฆ

1 Corinthians 2:1-2ย  (NKJV)

2ย And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony[a]ย of God.ย 2ย For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

It doesnโ€™t take much reading to discover God’s word is full of simple truths and expressions of His love.

God knows how to feed us with milk, and how to feed us with meat. He knows what we need and when we need it…

1 Peter 2:2 ย (NKJV)

2ย as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,[a]

If God can humble Himself to sometimes keep things โ€˜simpleโ€™ for us, then we can to.

And, don’t get to the point that your expectation of the deep allows you to miss what’s profoundly simple.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THINGS YOU HATE ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE (From my archives)…

wp-1490505260416.jpg

Relationships make our lives richerโ€ฆ.better. God created us because He wanted relationship with us.

As our relationships evolve, whether it be marriage, parent/child, siblings or friends…we are also all evolving as individuals.

For example, If you’ve been married any number of years, then neither of you are the same people you were when you first married.

The truth is some things get better, and some things don’t.

There will always be some things, attitudes, behaviors, moods, etc., that you hateย about those who you love most….it doesn’t mean you hate them.

In fact, daily living and lovingย beyond those things is what makes it love.

Think about God…do you think He is always pleased with you?

Are there ways He is still expecting you to change?

Even at our best, we donโ€™t measure up go Godโ€™s level of righteousnessโ€ฆ

Isaiah 64:6 (NKJV)

ย But we are all like an unclean thing,And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;ย We all fade as a leaf,ย And our iniquities, like the wind,ย Have taken us away.

Itโ€™s only through Godโ€™s abundant grace and mercy that we are able to be in His Holy presence.

Thatโ€™s why His gift of justification is so valuable, and should never be taken for granted. Even though we are unrighteousโ€ฆthrough the blood of our Lord Jesus, we are โ€˜counted as righteousโ€™.

Romans 3:23-25 (NKJV)

23ย for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24ย being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25ย whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,

Just as we donโ€™t measure up to Godโ€™s standardโ€ฆWe disappoint each otherย because at times donโ€™t measure up to one another’s expectationsโ€ฆwhether reasonable or unreasonable.

Just as we continue to disappoint God in our individual relationships with Him, we will continue to disappoint one another in our relationships with each other.

As years go by, even though we grow to know one another better, there will still be things about each other that โ€˜drive us up the wallโ€™…things that ‘drive us crazy’.

Think about some things that you hate about those people who are closest to you.

Does it mean that your relationship is flawed?

Well, yes it doesโ€ฆbut so is your relationship with God.

But, just as God loves us through our flaws, He expects us to love one another through ours as well.

So, the next time your notice your husbandโ€ฆwifeโ€ฆparentโ€ฆsisterโ€ฆbrotherโ€ฆfriend doing something you donโ€™t like…or even hate, after all these years rememberโ€ฆ

Theirs something they canโ€™t stand about you, and…

It makes your relationship normalโ€ฆnot over.

Love each other through it, just as God loves you.

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV)

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

YOU CAN SHARE YOUR TESTIMONY WITHOUT TELLING ALL OF YOUR BUSINESS…

wp-1472674791523.png

There is great power in a transparent testimony. Sometimes people just need to hear that youโ€™ve been through what they are going throughโ€ฆand made it.

But, remember thisโ€ฆ

You can give your testimony without telling ALL your business. You can bless their spirit without feeding their nosiness.

You donโ€™t have to give every intricate detail of what youโ€™ve gone through, what you did, what you endured to be a blessing to someone else. In fact, some parts of your testimony could do more harm than good. We still need to give people something to aspire to.

Think about thisโ€ฆ

While he was president, we didnโ€™t know every detail of John F. Kennedyโ€™s business. We didnโ€™t know every detail of Franklin D. Rooseveltโ€™s business. We didnโ€™t know every detail of Martin Luther King Jr.โ€™s business.

Yes, we know that David sinned with Bathsheba, but we donโ€™t know every detail. Yes, we know that Peter denied Christ, but we donโ€™t know every sin he committed. Yes, we know that Paul (Saul) persecuted the church, but we donโ€™t know every sin he did. Yes, we know Paul had a โ€˜thorn in the fleshโ€™, but we donโ€™t know what that sin or weakness was.

1 Corinthians 15:9 (NKJV)

9ย For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

The fact is that many of todayโ€™s scandals simply arenโ€™t any of our business. We live in an age that people that not only does the public want to know everyoneโ€™s business, but they feel they have a right to itโ€ฆespecially public figures.

Pray for wisdom, discernment and discretion to know what you need to share and what you need to keep between God and yourself.

TBT: THE LIES WE DON’T INTEND TO TELL (MOST OF THE TIME)…

wp-1486943189232.jpg

SOME OF THE BIGGEST LIES WE TELL ARE…

Not intentionally (most of the time)…have any of these come from your mouth????

I love you…

I’ll pray for you…

I’ll call you back…

That’s okay…

I’m okay…

What’s wrong? “Nothing!”…

That’s hilarious…(and you don’t laugh)

Oh yeah, I remember that…

I donโ€™t remember…

I don’t have it on me…(when asked for money)

That tastes great…

You look great…

I like that…

I’ve got your back…

I love everybody…

I don’t see color…

I’m doing this for you…

That didn’t bother me…

I donโ€™t even care…

I’m over it…

It doesn’t matter…

Remember what Jesus said in Matthew Chapter 12โ€ฆ

ย Matthew 12:36 (NKJV)

ย 36ย But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

Take a moment and thank God for His grace and mercy for the lies we tell…intentional and unintentional.

ย BE BLESSTIFIED!

GIVE GOD A ‘HOLY HUG’!

Praise is so powerful. And, Iโ€™m not talking about using it as a tool of manipulation to get God to bless us, but Iโ€™m talking about a powerful way to BLESS HIM.

Psalm 34:1 (NKJV)

I will bless theย Lordย at all times;
His praiseย shallย continuallyย beย in my mouth.

Yes, God wants to be blessed by us, just as much as we want to be blessed by Him. How can you bless God who has all power, possesses all things and has control of all things? The same way a baby blesses a parent when he or she reaches up to them.

Why does a baby reach up to his or her parent?

To get their attentionโ€ฆ

To be picked upโ€ฆ

To be huggedโ€ฆ

God wants our affection. Our affection is a blessing to Him. Every parent wants to be โ€˜loved onโ€™ by their children.

There are few things more affectionate, more intimate, more touching, more empowering, than a well-timed hug.

Have you ever had someone give you a warm affectionate hug? Without saying one word that sincere hug said โ€œI love you!โ€ โ€œIโ€™m so glad youโ€™re in my life!โ€ โ€œI appreciate you!โ€

A hug is a beautiful way of saying that โ€œWe are oneโ€.

Yes, we praise God with the fruit of our lips.

Yes, we praise God in a song.

Yes, we praise God through beautiful music.

Yes, we can even praise Him with a danceโ€ฆ

But, there is something special about lifting our hands up to Him in praise.

Lifting up our hands (just like that baby) is almost like weโ€™re waving to get Godโ€™s attention, โ€œLord! Here I am! See me!?!โ€

Lifting up our hands is an act of surrender and letting go of what we are holding to reach out to Him.

Lifting up our hands is stretching them forward, just as our Lord, Yeshua Jesus Christ had His hands extended and stretched when He was nailed to the cross.

Lifting up our hands toward God is an expression of affection.

Our God so big that we canโ€™t get our arms around Him, so itโ€™s our way of giving Him a holy hug.

If we are alone itโ€™s an intimate personal hug. If we are in corporate worship, itโ€™s a powerful group hug.

So take some time today to love on our Heavenly Father. Lift up your hands to Him and bless Him with a Holy hug!

Look at how we are encouraged to let go of all wrath and all doubt and lift up our holy hands to the God of our salvation.

1 Timothy 2:8 (NKJV)

I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;

Give God a holy hug!

BE BLESSTIFIED!

NO MATTER WHAT THEY DID, GOD DOESN’T ALLOW YOU TO HATE THEM…

wp-1481954274578.jpg

It wasnโ€™t fair! It wasnโ€™t right, and they knew it. But, yet they still did it. They hurt you. They hurt someone you loveโ€ฆmaliciously. They didnโ€™t apologize. They are still glad they did it, and would do it again.

They were cruel. They made your life a living Hell. You didnโ€™t want to get out of the bed, go to work, go to schoolโ€ฆall because of them.

They have influenced others against you. They have taken from you that what you will never get back. They have gained at your expense.

They turned their back on you when you needed them most. They could have come to help you. They could have rescued you, but they thought about it and decided NOT to do so. You werenโ€™t worth the trouble to them.

They hate you. They genuinely hate you. And, youโ€™ve done nothing. Or, you have asked their forgiveness and they refuse to give it.

They put their hands on you. They murdered someone you love dearly. They wish you were dead.

They want to see you fail. They will enjoy it. They hate you. They genuinely hate you. And, youโ€™ve done nothing. They donโ€™t even know you but still have you.

You have asked their forgiveness and they refuse to give it.

Itโ€™s amazing the levels of hurt we can cause one anotherโ€ฆ

But, no matter what they have done, are doing or will do. No matter how they feel about you. God does not allow us to hate them.

I know itโ€™s hard, but thatโ€™s how God loves usโ€ฆand itโ€™s how He expects us to love.

Matthew 5:43-48 (NKJV)

43ย โ€œYou have heard that it was said, โ€˜You shall love your neighbor[a]ย and hate your enemy.โ€™ย 44ย But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,[b]ย 45ย that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.ย 46ย For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?ย 47ย And if you greet your brethren[c]ย only, what do you do moreย than others?ย Do not even the tax collectors[d]ย do so?ย 48ย Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Itโ€™s not easy, but love has the power to cover any hatred or wrongโ€ฆto diffuse itโ€ฆto forgive itโ€ฆTO ENDURE IT.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NKJV)

…(Love)bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, ENDURES all things.
