5 REASONS WHY PEOPLE MAY NOT WANT TO TAKE ADVICE FROM YOU…

God teaches us in His word that wise counsel is priceless…

Proverbs 19:20-21  (NKJV)

20 Listen to counsel and receive instruction,
That you may be wise in your latter days.

21 There are many plans in a manโ€™s heart,
Nevertheless the Lordโ€™s counselโ€”that will stand.

It’s good to get the benefit from the experience of others. But do you know anyone whose advice you really don’t want? Why? How do people feel about taking advice from you? Why?

Do people make any of these statements about you?

Is _____________ going to be there?

Is______________ going with us?

Are you inviting _________________?

Oh no! Here comes _______________?

HERE ARE 5 REASONS WHY PEOPLE MAY NOT WANT TO TAKE YOUR ADVICE…

1. YOU CAN’T HAVE A CONVERSATION WITHOUT GIVING ADVICE…

Some people don’t know how to have a conversation without giving advice. I know a young man who didn’t have his father around when he grew up. All the men in his life felt they had to mentor him. That’s fine, but not all the time.! They would never just laugh and talk. Never could just tell jokes. And, if jokes were told, it was about how the young man wasn’t doing something right. “If I were you I would…”, “When are you going to…”, “Ha, Ha, Ha, that’s not how you do that, here let me show you…” He got to the point that he dreaded when they came around. “Oh know, here comes Uncle ________” he thought. Remember this. Every moment doesn’t have to be a teaching moment. Every situation doesn’t have to be a lesson. And, people don’t learn by making fun of what they do wrong.

2. YOU AREN’T A GOOD EXAMPLE…

I had a barber once who loved to give advice about healthy eating. That was fine be he couldn’t cut my hair without his stomach rubbing against me. I also have an acquaintance who is always full of financial advice, but he is not doing very well financially himself. And, most parents get frustrated when people who have never had children try to advice them how to raise their children. I’m not saying people with children can’t give advice, or that you can’t learn from someone else’s financial mistakes, or that someone overweight can’t advice someone else on how to lose weight. But, I am saying that

3. YOU ARE ARROGANT & CONDESCENDING…

Yes, we see your level of success. Yes, we see that you’ve made great decisions. But, know we aren’t looking for advice every time you come around. Because when you give that advice you act as though everyone else is so stupid. When you give advice you belittle what they have done well. When you give advice, your tone is so mean that your advice goes unheard.

4. YOU USE IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BRAG ABOUT YOURSELF & FEED YOUR OWN EGO…

These people really aren’t concerned about helping you, they just want an opportunity to glorify themselves. No, we are not interested in how well you planned, how smart you were, or how hard you worked. Because guess what, we planned carefully too. We made intelligent decisions too. We worked very hard too, but sometimes things just don’t work out. Ask any entrepreneur who had a strong business plan, researched their market, sacrificed for their business, put in ‘blood, sweat, and tears’ and because of factors beyond their control, things didn’t work out.

BEFORE YOU SAY YOU DESERVE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BECAUSE YOU WORKED HARD FOR ITโ€ฆ

5. NO ONE ASKED YOU…

I’m not saying that unsolicited isn’t good sometimes, but most of the time, if people want your advice, they will ask you. If you notice that someone needs some help and aren’t willing to ask, find a way to BE an example of the behavior that you feel could benefit from their experience. Be creative. Pray and ask God for wisdom, or even let the know you’re available if needed, but blurting out unsolicited advice can be so insulting that it goes unheard.

Remember, advice is only good if it received, so stop, think, and pray before you speak into someone’s life.

The next time you get some unwanted advice, come back to this list to see how many reasons apply.

THE ARROGANCE OF BEGINNING THE DAY WITHOUT PRAYER…

wp-1499365099901.

Consider this…

You wake up, reach over and kiss your spouse. You then you turn on the television to check the weather and traffic. You go into the kitchen and grab a bite to eat and promptly brush, floss and take a shower so you can get out the door and be on time for work.

What’s wrong with this morning scenario?

You acknowledged your spouse…

You acknowledged the weather…

You acknowledged the traffic…

You acknowledged your hunger…

You acknowledged your hygiene (even your ‘low’giene:-)…

You acknowledged your job…

But did you acknowledge the One who made everything else you acknowledged possible?

Did you acknowledge God? Did you tell Him good morning? Did you tell Him thanks for protecting you and your family, while you were unconscious all night? Did you thank Him for waking you up? Did you thank Him for brand new mercies..

Lamentations 3:22-23  (NKJV)

22 Through the Lordโ€™s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

This world is far too dangerous. Too unpredictable… Too evil for us to begin our day without acknowledging the God of our salvation.

Too many people say they are believers, but when they are honest with themselves, they live as if God isn’t even there.

We acknowledge, relate to and take seriously what is real to us.

I believe that beginning the day without acknowledging God first thing each and every morning is the ultimate ‘intentional’ act of arrogance and pride.

We are saying, (without saying )… “I’ve got this.” “I don’t need your protection.” “I don’t need your provision.” “I don’t need your guidance.” “I don’t need your wisdom.” “I don’t need your help.”

In as sense we are saying, “I don’t need you today!”

When you love someone…when you’re in love someone, you act like it. In fact, not only do we expect the love we give be reciprocated, we demand it of one another.

We prove how real God is to us, and how much we love Him by how we relate to Him. How we talk to Him. How we fellowship with Him in His word and prayer.

Have you talked to God today? If not, why not stop right now and…Tell Him you’re sorry. Tell Him you love Him. Thank Him for His grace and mercy. And make a commitment that God is the first Person that you talk to each morning.

Psalm 63:1 (NKJV)

O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.

Psalm 5:3 (NKJV)

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

IS YOUR FAITH FICKLE OR FAITHFUL…

“Hosanna!” is the praise the crowds shouted as Jesus triumphantly entered Jerusalem, but by the end of the week the crowds were shouting “Crucify Him!”

That’s why the Gospel of John reminds us…

John 2:23-25 23 “Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did. 24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, 25 and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.”
Jesus knew (and knows) that we as people are fickle. We care about what you can do for us. People want to know, “What have you done for me lately?”

People believed because of the signs, because of the miracles, because they were fed, but when Jesus told the people that we had to ‘eat His flesh and drink His blood many left him to follow Him no more (John 6:22-66). This happened right after miraculously fed over 5000 people.

Fickle people will leave when the going gets tough.

Fickle people will leave when the money is gone.

Fickle people will leave when the relationship isn’t fun anymore.

Fickle people will leave when they are given the truth about themselves that they don’t want to accept.

Fickle people will lay you off work when they feel someone they see as smarter, or younger, or quicker, or more talented comes along.

People can be fickle with God when He seems to be moving too slow, or not moving at all. You get the picture. All that being said, we need to rememberโ€ฆ

  1. We need to strive to please God and not man.

  2. We need to be thankful for, and nurture our closest relationships (Even Jesus had an inner circle that He leaned on more…Peter, James and John)

  3. We will be sometimes be fickle with those closest to us… (Peter denied Jesus and they all scattered)

  4. In our relationships with God and one another we must move from being FICKLE to FAITHFUL. (Eventhough they sometimes doubted Jesus, Eventhough their faith was sometimes weak, Even though Peter denied Him, Eventhough they scattered when Jesus was crucified…the disciples went on to suffer for and spread the Gospel!

The disciples went from FICKLE to FAITHFUL! Have you?

8 REASONS WHY MANY OF TODAY’S ‘CHRISTIANS’ WOULDN’T HAVE FOLLOWED ‘CHRIST’…

Some things never change. Yeshua the Messiah made the ‘religious people’ so angry that they wanted to kill Him, and with the help of the Romans they did…at least thought they did.

Many Christians of every race claim to be His disciples, but we prove how we would have responded if we lived then by how we respond today. We prove on which side of history we would have stood by where we stand now.

The fact is that many of the people who claim to be Christians would have rejected Jesus, and here are 8 reasons why…

1. WOMEN SUPPORTED HIM WITH THEIR MONEY

Few people ever talk about the women who followed Jesus and supported Him financially, Not, just the women, but the ‘type’ of women…

Luke 8:1-3 (NKJV)

Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and [a]bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and [b]infirmitiesโ€”Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herodโ€™s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for [c]Him from their [d]substance.

So you had a woman who many believed was a prostitute, wives of ‘important’ men and many other women who were following the LORD and supporting Him financially — we all know that would be beyond scandalous today. How many men would co-sign on their wives following and giving money to a broke, uneducated, controversial traveling preacher?

2. HE THREATENED THEIR TRADITIONS

One of the most common complaints today is ‘cancel culture’. Too many people today are devoted to traditions, memorials, statues, etc. to the point of idolatry. Several of our modern traditions are clearly in direct contradiction to the word of God, such as swearing in officials…

Matthew 5:34-37 (NKJV)

34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is Godโ€™s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let [a]your โ€˜Yesโ€™ be โ€˜Yes,โ€™ and your โ€˜No,โ€™ โ€˜No.โ€™ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. (Can’t get more clear than that)

…but, some people would rather die than change. To many, patriotism, nationalism, racial pride, the economy and institutional traditions have become psuedo-religions. But, Yeshua made it clear that they were prioritizing their traditions over the Word of God…

Mark 7:7-9 (NKJV)

And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.โ€™
For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of menโ€”[a]the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.โ€ He said to them, โ€œAll too well you [b]reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

3. HE HELD THE ‘LEADERS’ ACCOUNTABLE

Jesus openly rebuked the Pharisees, Scribes and teachers of the law concerning their hypocrisy, arrogance and pride. These were equal to respected political, religious and professional leaders today. But the LORD called them out and pissed them off. No matter what political or religious affiliation, how to react when those whom they respect are held accountable?

Matthew 15:10-13 (NKJV)

10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, โ€œHear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.โ€ 12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, โ€œDo You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?โ€ 13 But He answered and said, โ€œEvery plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.

Matthew 23:13-36 (NKJV)

13 โ€œBut woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. 14 [a]Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widowsโ€™ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. 15 โ€œWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of [b]hell as yourselves. 1โ€œWoe to you, blind guides, who say, โ€˜Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.โ€™ 17 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that [c]sanctifies the gold? 18 And, โ€˜Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obliged to perform it.โ€™ 19 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20 Therefore he who [d]swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it. 21 He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who [e]dwells in it. 22 And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it. 23 โ€œWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. 24 Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! 25 โ€œWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and [f]self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 โ€œWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead menโ€™s bones and all uncleanness. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. 29 โ€œWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and [g]adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say, โ€˜If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.โ€™ 31 โ€œTherefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathersโ€™ guilt. 33 Serpents, brood[h] of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? 34 Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, 35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36 Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

4. HE WASN’T EDUCATED OR ‘CULTURED’

How many people only hire Pastors who hold multiple degrees? How many people don’t feel leaders are credible unless they have achieved an expected level of education or status? Many people were amazed at how well Jesus spoke because they knew He wasn’t educated.

John 7:15 (NKJV)

15 And the Jews marveled, saying, โ€œHow does this Man know letters, having never studied?โ€

Even the Apostle Paul said we shouldn’t be overly impressed with words of man’s wisdom, but in the power of God…

1 Corinthians 2:4-6 (KJV)

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

5. HE HUNG OUT WITH THOSE WHO RELIGIOUS PEOPLE LOOKED DOWN UPON

It’s amazing how we can allow our education, achievements, connections, affiliations, social status and even our faith to arrogantly allow us to think we are ‘better’ than others. We can look down on others because of the decisions thy have made…such as drug addicts, prostitutes, or homeless people…but, those are the people with whom Yeshua the Messiah came to make the most intimate connections. Many people today would complain about the company that Jesus kept, just as the ‘religious’ people did then.

Mark 2:13-3:6 (NKJV)

13 Then He went out again by the sea; and all the multitude came to Him, and He taught them. 14 As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, โ€œFollow Me.โ€ So he arose and followed Him. 15 Now it happened, as He was dining in Leviโ€™s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. 16 And when the scribes [a]and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, โ€œHow is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?โ€ 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, โ€œThose who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, [b]to repentance.โ€

6. HIS ETHNICITY

The fact is that if Jesus came today of the same ethnicity, that many who so passionately claim to love Him would not accept Him as a leader. As much as it may be unintentional… cultural and racial biases are real. If Yeshua would have come during this era…born in the ‘Middle East’ (the fact that it’s even called Middle East relative to Europe) with the same skin tone, language, etc.,…how many people who call themselves Christians would actually follow Him? WHEN PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO LOVE ACCURATE HISTORY ARE COOL WITH A โ€˜EUROPEAN-LOOKINGโ€™ JESUSโ€ฆ

John 1:46 (NKJV)

46 And Nathanael said to him, โ€œCan anything good come out of Nazareth?โ€

Philip said to him, โ€œCome and see.โ€

7. HE DRANK ALCOHOL

How many people today would have rejected Jesus because of the fact that He drank wine? Some try to ‘sanitize it’ by saying that it wasn’t fermented, but that simply isn’t true. Jesus said Himself that unlike John the Baptist, he came both eating and drinking wine…

Matthew 11:18-20 (NKJV)

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, โ€˜He has a demon.โ€™ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, โ€˜Look, a glutton and a [a]winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!โ€™ But wisdom is justified by her [b]children.โ€

He was called a ‘winebibber’ because He drank wine. Did He get drunk? NO! But, how many self-righteous ‘Christians’ would rebuke Christ for drinking wine?

8. TODAY, JESUS WOULD BE A MILLENNIAL

How many ‘established’ leaders and Christians today wouldn’t take Jesus seriously because of His age? He began His earthy ministry at 30 years old.

John 8:57 (NKJV)

57 Then the Jews said to Him, โ€œYou are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?โ€

So, be honest with yourself…how would you have received Jesus if you lived back then? How would you receive Him if He had come in our generation?

BEFORE YOU SAY YOU DESERVE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BECAUSE YOU WORKED HARD FOR IT…

wp-1473938172851.png

The bible teaches us that it’s God that gives us the power, ability, knowledge and strength to get ‘wealth’, and that is very true…

Deuteronomy 8:18  (NKJV)

18 โ€œAnd you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may [a]establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

But, how many times have you heard someone say, or said yourself,  “I deserved everything that I have because I worked hard for it!”

You planned…

You’ve worked hard…

You’ve sacrificed…

You’ve made good decisions.

You even had great faith.

Let me give you a quick reminder in humility and God’s grace and mercy…

Yes, you definitely ‘earned’ it, but be very careful before you say you deserve it.

Before you say that you deserve your success and influence because of your hard work and effort, think about all of the people who also planned, worked hard, sacrificed, made good decisions, and had great faith…and for whatever reason, things just didn’t work out.

Think about all of the businesses that fail every day.

Think about all of the relationships that fall apart every day.

There are plenty of people who have planned and worked…

Just as hard or harder…

Just as smart or smarter…

Sacrificed just as much and more…

Made decisions that were just as good or better…

And, things just didn’t work out in their favor.

From the macro-economic environment, to social conditions, unforeseen sicknesses and circumstances, there are innumerable reasons why sometimes hard work is not rewarded with success.

And let us not forget about those people who want to work but can’t because of a disability they can’t help.

All in all, it’s only by God’s grace and mercy and His plan for our lives that things, work out as we hope and plan.

Remember…

Proverbs 16:9  (NKJV)

A manโ€™s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.

Psalm 128:1-4  (NKJV)

Blessed is every one who fears the Lord,

Who walks in His ways.

When you eat the [a]labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine
In the very heart of your house,
Your children like olive plants
All around your table.
Behold, thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the Lord.

It’s God’s will for you to enjoy the fruit of your labor, but never forget that any ‘success’ is only through His grace and mercy.

Don’t let the enemy to allow arrogance into your testimony.

If you have ever worked hard, planned well, sacrificed, made great decisions and had great faith, only to have things not work out in your favor, please respond to this post as a testimony. Be humble in your success, and never steal God’s glory, grace and mercy for yourself.

WHEN GOD PROVES HEโ€™S LISTENING…

How many times have you prayed and God answered your prayers?

Heโ€™s done it more times than I can count, sometimes prayers that were for me and sometimes prayers I have made for others.

What unbelievers, skeptics, and critics call COINCIDENCE…believers call CONFIRMATION.

But, one of the things I really love about God is when He sometimes hits the bullseye by answering a prayer so specifically that there is absolutely no way it can be a coincidence.

Every now and then God does something completely amazing to be a reminder in your moments of doubt so that they donโ€™t become seasons of doubt.

How about stopping what youโ€™re doing right now and give Him some love by praising Him. Tell Him thank you! Tell Him you love Him! And, tell Him you trust Him Iโ€™m the name of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).

Psalm 28:6-7 (NKJV)

Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.

ARE YOU SURPRISED WHEN GOD ANSWERS YOUR PRAYERS?

DONโ€™T LET YOUR POLITICS โ€˜TRUMPโ€™ YOUR FAITHโ€ฆ

wp-1484872758997.jpg

Itโ€™s interesting the many ways the enemy can provoke us to sin. Paul even reminds us to keep our eyes wide open to the many tricks of the devilโ€ฆ.

2 Corinthians 2:11(NKJV)

lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Have you ever noticed how many times the Old Testament references โ€œthe sins of Jeroboamโ€? In 1 Kings Chapter 12 (please read the entire chapter for context), Jeroboam, King of the northern kingdom of Israel became fearful that the peopleโ€™s loyalty would return to Rehoboam, King of the southern kingdom of Judah and son of Solomon. He thought the people would kill him, so in an effort to prevent this heโ€ฆ

  1. Sought and took bad advice (provoked by his fears).
  2. Built two golden calves (provoking and facilitating the people to worship idol Gods).
  3. Set them up in cities other than Jerusalem, provoking the people to travel to those cities to worship (one in Bethel and one in Dan).
  4. Made shrines on high places (provoking the people to idolatry).
  5. Set up his own priests who were not the sons of Levi (provoking the people and false priests to sin).
  6. Chose his own day to ordain a feast for the children of Israel (provoking the children of Israel to worship in a manner other than what God had commanded for them at this particular time in history).

In short, the decisions Jeroboam made for the nation of Israel provoked and facilitated a culture of sin that God just didnโ€™t only hold Jeraboam accountable for, but the ENTIRE NATION.

Be careful who you choose to follow.

Be careful who you choose to lead.

And, watch very closely those leaders whom you did not choose.

When leaders make unrighteous decrees, God will hold the entire nation accountable for following them.

Isaiah 10:1-6 (NKJV)

10 โ€œWoe to those who decree unrighteous decrees,

Who write misfortune,

Which they have prescribed

To rob the needy of justice,

And to take what is right from the poor of My people,

That widows may be their prey,

And that they may rob the fatherless.

What will you do in the day of punishment,

And in the desolation which will come from afar?

To whom will you flee for help?

And where will you leave your glory?

Without Me they shall bow down among the prisoners,

And they shall fall among the slain.โ€

For all this His anger is not turned away,

But His hand is stretched out still.

Arrogant Assyria Also Judged

โ€œWoe to Assyria, the rod of My anger

And the staff in whose hand is My indignation.

I will send him against an ungodly nation,

And against the people of My wrath

I will give him charge,

To seize the spoil, to take the prey,

And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

Even though all leaders are ordained by God, that doesnโ€™t mean that they always make Godly decisions. Sometimes nations are given โ€˜badโ€™ leaders because of their disobedience and sin.

Take the 44th and 45th presidential administrations for example. Even though there are good aspects of bothโ€ฆThe enemy cleverly found ways to provoke well-meaning Christians to compromise what God said in His word and their own personal Christian values to either support the man or satisfy their own fleshโ€ฆ.

44th President of the United States championed rights for lifestyles (LBGT) that God clearly said are sinful. Yes, the decisions that people make are between themselves and God, but you canโ€™t legitimize sin with legislation. Championing this cause promoted a culture that even used the bible against itself. Many people now say, โ€˜Thatโ€™s not what God really meantโ€. It also led to people attacking Christians for standing on the word of God.

45th President of the United States provoked Christians to promote a man who clearly did not display ONE Fruit of the Spirit. Who was clearly unforgiving, unrepentant, unapologetic, proud, disrespectful, insulting with no filter. But, they excused this because they felt he would be good for the economy, or they felt he said everything their flesh wanted to say.

When confronted with an issue, study everything the word of God says on the issue in context and proper perspective without โ€˜cherry pickingโ€™ the verses that best suit what you want.

Make your decision about what you support in your heart. God will honor and protect you and your family when you donโ€™t consent to what is clearly displeasing to God.

Joshua 24:15 (NKJV)

15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.โ€

Today, thousands of years later, leaders all over the world are still โ€˜committing the sins of Jeroboamโ€™โ€ฆprovoking the nation to sin.

Body of Christ, no matter what your party may be, we must be very careful not to allow our politics TRUMP our faith.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

CAN WE BE TOO RIGHTEOUS?

wp-1472569536852.jpg

Most cake recipes call for a little salt. Many of us like to satisfy our sweet tooth with a good slice of cake. In fact, when itโ€™s really good, one bite just makes you want another. The right amount of salt makes cakes taste just rightโ€ฆmaking you want more with each bite. However, too much salt will make us quickly spit it out of our mouth.

Colossians 4:6 tells us to let our speech be full of grace and seasoned with salt. Ecclesiastes 7:16 says, โ€œDo not be overly righteous,โ€ Nor be overly wise:..โ€

Itโ€™s good to have passion for the Kingdom of God, but when we are over-zealous, arrogant, mean-spirited  self-righteous, we can turn people away rather than attract them to Christ. All things in moderation. If we are trying to talk about the Lord in EVERY conversation, claim we never do anything wrong, or down people who are unbelievers, we can make people avoid us, dread seeing us coming and destroy any influence we may have. But, if we cleverly chose the right moments to โ€˜sprinkle the salt of the wordโ€™ when itโ€™s applicable, people are more likely to listen, receive it, and even soften hardened hearts.

We need to โ€˜love out loudโ€™ and โ€˜live out loudโ€™ to let people see God in our character rather than beating them with the bible, making every conversation about God, or punctuating every sentence with a spiritual clichรฉ. Wisely โ€˜sprinkling the saltโ€™ of Godโ€™s word in conversations can make people hungry for more, and establish you as the go-to person on your job, your team, your school, your family when people want to know more about God. Being over zealous makes us seem crazy, and people can conclude, โ€œI donโ€™t want what they have.โ€ God expects us to use wisdom and do everyone His Spirit of excellence. Notice how Paul reasoned with the Epicureans, Stoics, and people of Athens with respect and wisdom in Acts 17. He didnโ€™t โ€˜beat them over the headโ€™ or talk down to them. He wetted their appetite so that some wanted to hear more.

Psalm 19:10 proclaims Godโ€™s word is sweeter than honey in the comb. Yes it is! I love it. But if we donโ€™t handle it wisely, people will spit it out, and we can do more harm than good.

WHEN NO ONE SEES YOU CRY…

wp-1492301758789.

How many tears have you shed that no one saw but you?

You may have beenโ€ฆ

Hurtโ€ฆ

Troubledโ€ฆ

Betrayedโ€ฆ

Ignoredโ€ฆ

Misunderstoodโ€ฆ

Mistreatedโ€ฆ

Belittledโ€ฆ

Embarrassedโ€ฆ

Left Outโ€ฆ

Ridiculedโ€ฆ

Brokeโ€ฆ

Sickโ€ฆ

You were โ€˜in your feelings’ DEEPLYโ€ฆin your feelings.

You may have hoped that someone would have walked up…stopped by…called…or saw you just in time to let you know that they cared.

But, no one cameโ€ฆ

No one stoppedโ€ฆ

No one calledโ€ฆ

No one sawโ€ฆ

You cried alone. You got yourself together. You moved on.

How we handle those silent tears proves how real God really is to us.

God seeโ€™s our tearsโ€ฆall of them. Is it good enough for you to know that He saw your tears and He cares?

Do you really get comfort from knowing that God saw you and heard you?

Too many times we claim that God is real to us, but how often have you not felt truly comforted until you talked to a ‘real’ person?

There are some moments that are meant to be just between you and God. That’s when He’s most real in your life.

God sees every tear you cry. The next time that you’re shed tears all by yourself, remember…you’re not alone.

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

WHY LAUGHTER IS MINISTRY TOO…

smiley-432563_1920

Have you ever noticed that some people are naturally funny? They have a wit so quick, you wonder, how could they think of that so fast.

Why?

Think about these verses in the context of laughter…

James 1:17 (NKJV)

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Romans 12:8 (NIV)

if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously;if it is to lead,[a] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Proverbs 17:22 (NKJV)

22 A merry heart does good, like medicine,[a]
But a broken spirit dries the bones.

I’m convinced that comedy is a God-given spiritual gift of exhortation.

I mean, what is more encouraging than a good laugh? A well-placed laugh in a good sermon only helps keep the audience engaged and possibly drive a point home.

The bible tells us that one of the promises from God is that we will all see trouble during our days on this earthโ€ฆ

Job 14:1(NKJV)

14 โ€œMan who is born of woman
Is of few days and full of trouble.

Itโ€™s Godโ€™s gift of laughter that gets us through many of those tough days.

Iโ€™m convinced that God has appointed some of us Ministers of Laughter…

So, do you know anyone with a special anointing to make the best situations better and inject some encouraging humor into the worst. Those who can make us smile when we feel like crying. Is it you?

Unfortunately, many comedians and comediennes use their gift to glorify the enemy through vulgarity and profanity, but that doesnโ€™t mean the gift isnโ€™t from God. Itโ€™s just misdirected.

Are you a Minister of Laughter? If so, walk in your anointing. Youโ€™re important to the Kingdom of God!

HOW YOUR FAITH IS THE SPIRITUAL EQUIVALENT TO YOUR 5 PHYSICAL SENSES…

We experience the physical world through our 5 senses. Would you even know you that the world was real if you had not ONE sense?

No sight?

No hearing?

No smell?

No taste?

No touch?

As real as this world is, we only know it’s real because of our five senses. We experience the world through our senses. They make us aware of the evidence that the world is real.

Faith is the spiritual equivalent to all five of our spiritual senses. It is our faith that enables us to experience the spiritual world that we can’t see.

Atheists claim God isn’t real because they say there is no evidence. This is because they aren’t exercising the measure of faith that God has given all of us, so just as a person with no senses can’t experience the physical world, they can’t experience God

Romans 12:3 (NKJV)

3ย For I say,ย through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you,ย not to thinkย of himselfย more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealtย to each one a measure of faith.

Think about it, God’s word confirms that faith is our sixth sense through which we see, hear, touch, smell and even taste God…

SEE

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

7ย Forย we walk by faith, not by sight.

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

Now faith is theย [a]substance of things hoped for, theย [b]evidenceย of things not seen.

HEAR

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

17ย So then faithย comesย by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

John 10:27 (NKJV)

27ย My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

TOUCH

Matthew 8:3 (NKJV)

3ย Then Jesus put outย Hisย hand and touched him, saying,ย โ€œI am willing; be cleansed.โ€ย Immediately his leprosyย was cleansed.

Matthew 17:7 (NKJV)

7ย But Jesus came andย touched them and said,ย โ€œArise, and do not be afraid.โ€

SMELL

2 Corinthians 2:14 (ESV)

14ย Butย thanks be to God, who in Christ alwaysย leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreadsย the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

Ezekiel 20:41 (NKVJV)

41ย I will accept you as aย sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles.

TASTE

Psalm 34:8 (NKJV)

8ย Oh,ย taste and see that theย Lordย isย good;
Blessedย isย the manย whoย trusts in Him!

Psalm 119:103 (NKJV)

103ย How sweet are Your words to my taste,
Sweeterย than honey to my mouth!

And just as our physical senses need to be enhanced through wearing glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids etc., so does our faith need enhancing through prayer, studying God’s word, praise and sincere worship.

So, please don’t neglect your spiritual sixth sense!

Feed your faith!

Exercise your faith!

Take care of your faith just as much as you do your 5 physical senses.

WHEN PEOPLE DO THE WRONG THING FOR THE RIGHT REASON (UZZAH & THE ARK)…

One of the most disturbing and confusing accounts in the bible is that of when Uzzah reached out to prevent the Ark of the Covenant from falling and God struck him dead.

2 Samuel 6:6-8 (NKJV)

6ย And when they came toย Nachonโ€™s threshing floor, Uzzah put outย hisย handย to the ark of God andย [a]took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled.ย 7ย Then the anger of theย Lordย was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there forย hisย [b]error; and he died there by the ark of God.ย 8ย And David became angry because of theย Lordโ€™s outbreak against Uzzah; and he called the name of the placeย [c]Perez Uzzah to this day.

Wow! That seemed so unfair. Uzzah obviously meant well and was paid with death.

Remember this…the Old Testament gives us numerous extreme examples of how God reacts to our behavior. These reactions teach and and leave examples of not only what He loves and what He hates, but also to what extreme. For example, when we totally forsake His day of rest every seven days, even under grace, to do work we could have easily done another day…God considers it worthy of death (Numbers 15:32-36). Yes, Yeshua said it’s okay to remove an ox from a ditch, but too many people have ‘oxen’ that fall in the ditch during the middle of the week and wait until The Lord’s Day to remove them.

Notice what God teaches through Paul about Old Testament examples…

1 Corinthians 10:1-10 (NKJV)

Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were underย the cloud, all passed throughย the sea,ย 2ย all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,ย 3ย all ate the sameย spiritual food,ย 4ย and all drank the sameย spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.ย 5ย But with most of them God was not well pleased, forย their bodiesย were scattered in the wilderness.

6ย Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things asย they also lusted.ย 7ย And do not become idolaters asย wereย some of them. As it is written,ย โ€œThe people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.โ€ย 8ย Nor let us commit sexual immorality, asย some of them did, andย in one day twenty-three thousand fell;ย 9ย nor let usย [a]tempt Christ, asย some of them also tempted, andย were destroyed by serpents;ย 10ย nor complain, asย some of them also complained, andย were destroyed byย the destroyer.

So, what about Uzzah?

God said very clearly that no one was to ever touch the Ark of the Convenant, period. God said DON’T TOUCH IT.

When God says NO, He means NO!

Even though Uzzah was doing it for the right reason…NO still meant NO!. God left behind an example that we can never do something He told us never to do for what we judge to be the right reason.

Is it confusing? Yes. Even if it doesn’t make sense to us, it’s God’s word and remember what He told us through Isaiah…

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)

8ย โ€œForย My thoughtsย areย not your thoughts,
Norย areย your ways My ways,โ€ says theย Lord.
9ย โ€œForย asย the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

One contemporary example of people doing the wrong thing for the right reason is when a parent gives their adolescent daughter birth control because they don’t want them to get pregnant, or gives their son condoms so they won’t get a sexually transmitted disease. If God commands no fornication, parents must as well. If the child choses to be disobedient, then that’s between them and God.

Can you think of when you many have done the wrong thing for the right reason?

BE BLESSTIFIED!

WHY SOME PRAYERS ARE BEST SAID SILENTLY (WHISPER IN GOD’S EAR)…

Do you remember in the first chapter of 1 Samuel when Hannah, Eli’s wife, prayed silently and he thought she was drunk because he only saw her lips moving?

God heard that prayer and granted her a son.

The more I learn about how things work in the spirit world and how they effect the physical world…

The more I learn about the spiritual battles that take place over our lives by angels and fallen angels…

The more I realize that some prayers need to remain silent. Some things, some plans, some goals, and especially some fears need to remain between you and God.

Notice what happened when Daniel prayed about one of his visions, the angel that God dispatched to give him revelation was detained 3 weeks by a high ranking fallen angel…

Daniel 10:10-14 (NKJV)

10 Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands. 11 And he said to me, โ€œO Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.โ€ While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.

12 Then he said to me, โ€œDo not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.โ€

Notice how Yeshua reminds us that we all have angels who minister to us daily…

Matthew 18:10 (NKJV)

10 โ€œTake heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

You can’t believe in God without believing in angels and fallen angels (demons). These demons partner with the adversary (the devil) in being our aggressive antagonists.

Matthew 18:10 (NKJV)

10 โ€œTake heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

The devil is our spiritual adversary, but he does not have the ability to know our thoughts. But, just like any physical human adversary, he can react to what you say to antagonize and hinder you. He and his fallen angel cohorts can react to what you say.

That’s why people can’t throw around the common Christian catch phrase, SPEAK IT INTO EXISTENCE too loosely. 2 REASONS WHY WE SHOULD BE CAREFUL BEFORE WE SAY โ€˜SPEAK IT INTO EXISTENCEโ€™ or โ€˜NAME IT & CLAIM ITโ€™โ€ฆ

Just as a physical enemy will react to your words, so will the devil and demons. So, be very mindful that some things DON’T need to be said out loud.

Some prayers need to be spoken in your heart as you pray silently, just as Hannah did.

God has knowledge of what you need even before you ask.

His Holy Spirit steps in when words can’t be expressed or don’t need to be expressed…

When you pray silently it’s just like whispering in God’s ear.

Romans 8:26 (NKJV)

26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Be careful how and with whom you share your plans…

Be careful how and with whom you share your hopes…

Be careful how and with whom you share your fears…

Pray for wisdom on what should be spoken out loud and when you should whisper in God’s ear.
