WHEN PEOPLE SAY THEY WANT TO BE ‘JUST LIKE JESUS’…

Spiritual cliches are popular within the church community. Every church culture has their own.

They’re spoken in conversations, sermons and sung in songs.

They CAN be powerful affirmations of our faith and words of encouragement.

However, we need to always make sure we MEAN WHAT WE SAY and think of what the ‘cost’ may be.

One such phrase is when people say and sing…

I WANNA BE JUST LIKE JESUS!

Jesus made this clear on several occasions.

Mean what you say! Jesus made that very clear in the exact same context…

Matthew 8:19–20 (NKJV)

19 rThen a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”

20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son ofMan has nowhere to lay His head.”

Matthew 16:24-25 NKJV

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Matthew 20:22-24 (NKJV)

22 But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink (A)the cup that I am about to drink, [a]and be baptized with (B)the baptism that I am baptized with?”

They said to Him, “We are able.”

23 So He said to them, (C)“You will indeed drink My cup, [b]and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”

Many people claim they want to be like Jesus, but they complain when they are belittled, betrayed, beaten, dishonored, disrespected, disliked, threatened, harmed…when they are ‘given their cross’.

Be careful what you say because it WILL be required of you.

BE BLESSTIFIED!
