WHY SO-CALLED ‘WHITE GUILT’ IS A CALL TO REPENTANCE…

I’m pretty sure that many people will ‘turn up their nose‘ at this article, but if it touches one person’s heart or convinces them to even consider adjusting their perspective and lead to repentance , then to God be the glory.

In the throes of the current worldwide movement for social justice, many white Americans say with pride , I’M NOT GIVING IN TO WHITE GUILT!

Many say, I NEVER OWNED SLAVES!

Others say, I WAS BORN POOR AND WORKED HARD FOR EVERYTHING I HAVE!

And some say, I HAVE NEVER BENEFITED FROM ‘WHITE PRIVILEGE’.

Others assert, I’M NOT RACIST, I HAVE BLACK FRIENDS, SO WHY SHOULD I FEEL GUILTY?

I’m asking everyone who respects the Bible as the Word of God to consider this…

It is undeniable that in our nation’s history there wasn’t a hint of equality or equity for non-white Americans until the late 60’s.

Even if you had nothing to do with any of the evils towards Black people through the generations, God still expects His people to renounce and repent of the sins of their fathers because the fruit, legacies and benefits of their behavior and systems transcends generations…culturally, economically, socially psychologically, and spiritually. Narratives and paradigms are set.

When you read the entire bible in context, the only way subsequent generations are not liable for the sins of their fathers is when they repent of them. Any sin that hasn’t been forsaken, renounced, regretted, and repented of remains.

That’s why God continued to demand that Israel verbally and publicly reject the sins of their fathers…

Leviticus 26:40-43 (ESV)

40 “But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery that they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me, 41 so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies—if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity, 42 then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

Isaiah 65:6-7 (NKJV)

6 “Behold, it is written before Me:
I will not keep silence, but will repay—
Even repay into their bosom—
7 Your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers together,”
Says the Lord,
“Who have burned incense on the mountains
And blasphemed Me on the hills;
Therefore I will measure their former work into their bosom.”

Lamentations 5:7 (NKJV)

7 (A)Our fathers sinned and are no more,
But we bear their iniquities.

But here is the New Testament example from Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus the Christ Himself.

Many times we prove where we would have stood if we lived in the past by our attitude and pride today…

Matthew 23:29-32 (NKJV)

29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and[a]adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’

31 “Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers’ guilt.

The very pride and arrogance to state, I’M NOT BOWING DOWN TO WHITE GUILT is a witness against anyone who says it. They still maintain the same pride (which God forbids), the same attitudes of their ancestors who were guilty.

It proves that they reject these teachings…

Matthew 7:12 (NKJV)

12 Therefore, (A)whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for (B)this is the Law and the Prophets.

Philippians 2:3 (NKJV)

3 (A)Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but (B)in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Romans 15:1 (KJV)

15 We then that are strong (ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Romans Chapter 15 and verse 1 can be applied on a personal or corporate level, that is ‘the strong (strength meaning majority with greater influence) must bear the infirmities of the weak (weak meaning minority with lesser influence). The majority bears a moral responsibility to equity for the minorities.

So for those of you who love God through Jesus Christ, what if the feeling of WHITE GUILT is the Holy Spirit giving you the opportunity to renounce the sins of your fathers? And, what if the compulsion to resist it is the devil trying to convince you to resist the Holy Spirit through pride?

As I said earlier, I expect most people to reject this reasoning, but if I’m in line with God’s truth, and if God is using the current course of events for His will….If He is behind the ‘cancel’ culture for His purpose…Do you want to be guilty of fighting God?

BE BLESSTIFIED!

  1. I appreciate your biblical approach to the problem of white guilt. Yet, it does exist and must be reconciled through repentance. However, what does the scripture mean when it says that the sins will “be visited upon the children.” Could it mean that the children will continue in generational sin? You still need to reconcile Ezekiel 18:19-20 with what you are saying as well. “Yet you say, ‘Why should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done what is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, he shall surely live. The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.”

  2. Repent is to turn away from – which when done in a Christian context is the removal of guilty through the blood of Jesus Christ enacted by turning from sin to God, renounce is to make a statement that in effect says I will not condone the actions of anyone who has or will act in that sinful way. Holy Spirit driven guilt is different than Satan driven guilt, one is introduced by the world for manipulation the other is introduced by God for as part of sanctification – Satan masquerades as an angel of light creating a very difficult climate for meaningful change – although I agree with much of what you have said I do see an area that Satan wants to use to leave people in a cycle of guilt rather than a life of freedom

  3. Haven’t whites been repenting since the days of abolition and civil war? I saw a comment where the person was angry that ministers owned slaves yet, if they understood history and true Christianity, they would see that that was the ministers’ way of setting free the slaves. Was it not in repentance when the Civil Rights Act was signed? Or when EOE and Affirmative Action came about? Is that not Romans 15:1 fleshed out? That’s to name a few acts of national repentance. Is it not a shame to be a racist these days? Is it not a hate crime to act out racism toward another of a different race? Racism is certainly nothing to be proud of among whites anymore. Many of us speak up about it! We may have a long ways to go, yes, but tell us what more is needed! And is it ever going to be enough? When are whites going to be forgiven? God will not forgive those who harbor unforgiveness. And is it not an act of arrogance to be sitting on God’s throne, to demand that whites apologize to blacks for their fathers’ sins? Are blacks without sin with their bigotry toward whites? We see that happening today! Its OK to hate us for the color of our skin because of our fathers’ sins! BTW, back in the ’90s churches did this across the nation-whites standing in proxy for their fathers as well as for personal sins against blacks, asking for forgiveness from our black brothers for our fathers’ sins. We were forgiven then, or so I thought. God’s vengeance is already being poured out on slave owners, even to this day, and especially on those who did it in His holy name. Its a complicated matter so let God carry out His perfect vengeance lest He turn His wrath away and pour it out on the unjust avengers,

May His kingdom come quickly that all His children of all races will be about the business of perfectly worshiping Him without sin and unforgiveness toward another, amen!

Father God, help me to love all people as Jesus, my Beloved, loves them. Do Your perfect work in these days and I pray Your mercy on those who go too far in their hatred, that they would come to know Your forgiveness and salvation, amen. \o/

Brother Al, I love you dearly. I’m still learning and I know that repentance is a continual walk and sincere forgiveness is Christ-like. Have a blesstified day, amen!

  4. Yes. There are also others that we all, white and everyone need to repent, among them — decades of abortion, years of complacency from the abundance of God, self-righteousness of imagined reality, not God’s truth….

  5. I don’t know what I can add to this discussion. I know the Carenet office in the city was next door to a black church. They had many young women come in pregnant and the Carenet staff was upset that the Pastor wasn’t supporting families and wasn’t telling their young people they needed to be married. I realize many colored people; not just black; have broken families and missing fathers, many missing mothers. How can we help your people mend their family units to protect and grow Godly seed?
