BEFORE YOU JUDGE A DRUG ADDICT, READ THIS…

Let me first say that by the grace of God, I’ve never been addicted to illegal or prescription drugs.

I’ve also been gulity of looking in disdain at those who are. I’ve self-righteously shaken my head at those who have overdosed or even died.

Some were trying to escape the realities of life…

Some became addicted after surgery, medical treatment, or due to a chronic (no pun intended) or medical treatment…

Others were addicted through recreational use or just to ‘unwind’…

But, the end result was the same…addiction.

So, before you judge anyone in any of these situations or scenarios, think about this…

What if either of these were illegal, or deadly (and some are depending on your state of health…

Coffee…

Cola…

Over-the-counter pain killers…

Red Bull…

5-Hour Energy…

Beer…

Wine…

Sugar.

I think you get the picture. What if coffee (which many admit they HAVE to HAVE) were as addictive and deadly as opioids?

When you see someone hit rock bottom or even die because of your addiction, stop and pray for them. Then stop and examine your life and your…

ACCEPAPTABLE ADDICTIONS…

Then empathize with them.

But, please don’t judge them. Because the ‘addiction’ comes from the same weakess in all of our flesh, and but by the grace of God, whether you admit it or not…

Could be you.

BE BLESSTIFIED!
Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV)

Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

  1. I love this! I have never been addicted to illegal drugs either, but my whole world was once shattered by loved ones who were addicted. I tried to do like Jesus and never give on them, just love them through it–and I am thankful to God that today, they are clean.

  2. Who is to say a drug addict is NOT a Christian? This would be insane. Of course, you can be as this is a health problem and NOT one of character. Of course, choosing to be an addict is different, but who ever goes to drugs for the purpose of being an addict. God loves us all. A great post. Your usual.

  3. I was an addict. It is a hard thing to climb out from under. Jesus is the only answer. The more I know Him, the more compassion I have for those that are addicted. They need Him, not our judgment. Thanks for this post.

  4. Hey, Pastor Al — the words are missing from this post. I checked this out on my Fire tablet and now on my laptop computer. The only thing I can see here is a picture of a hand with a pointing finger. But there obviously were some words here at one time, according to the comments.
