WHY PRAYER HAS NEVER BEEN TAKEN OUT OF SCHOOLS…

STOP GIVING THE ENEMY A VICTORY HE NEVER WON!

Body of Christ, stop playing the victim! Stop giving the enemy a victory that he never won!

I often hear people lament that one of the reasons our public school systems have declined and are declining is because we have allowed prayer to be taken out of schools. I humbly submit to you today…

IF YOU’RE PRAYING AT HOME, PRAYER IS STILL IN SCHOOLS…

IF YOU PRAY OVER AND FOR YOUR CHILDREN, PRAYER IS STILL IN SCHOOLS…

IF YOU’VE TAUGHT YOUR CHILDREN TO PRAY, PRAYER IS STILL IN SCHOOLS…

I wonder how many of the people who complain about prayer being taken out of schools actually teach their children to pray, pray with their children or have family prayer at home.

God gave parents the responsibility to instill the appreciation for prayer in their children,  promote a culture of prayer in the home, and let them know they can talk to God anywhere.

Deuteronomy 6:7 (ESV)

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)

Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.

We must teach our children that God isn’t limited to where you pray! The church prayed for Peter in Acts 12 and God released him.

Acts 12:5-17 (NKJV)

Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant[a] prayer was offered to God for him by the church. And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands. Then the angel said to him, “Gird yourself and tie on your sandals”; and so he did. And he said to him, “Put on your garment and follow me.” So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. 10 When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. 11 And when Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and fromall the expectation of the Jewish people.” 12 So, when he had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying. 13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. 15 But they said to her, “You are beside yourself!” Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, “It is his angel.” 16 Now Peter continued knocking; and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. 17 But motioning to them with his hand to keep silent, he declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, “Go, tell these things to James and to the brethren.” And he departed and went to another place.

The church didn’t have to GO to the prison to pray for Peter. God is omnipresent, everywhere at the same time.

When you pray WITH your child and FOR your child, God is with him, her or them IN the school. Consider this…if you allow prayer in schools, you have to allow ALL prayer. What if your child’s teacher isn’t Christian, and your child is subjected to the prayers of another religion?

Dear friends, don’t just pray individually, but I encourage you to make sure you’re having family prayer at home.

Spouses begin your day together on prayer.

Pray as a family.

Continue to pray for schools in your churches.

Pray for schools even if you don’t have children in school because good schools affect all of us. There is much power in praying TOGETHER…

Matthew 18:19-20)

19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

MOST IMPORTANTLY…if your children know how to PRAY FOR THEMSELVES AT SCHOOL…prayer is still and will always be in schools.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

  1. I have seen prayer taken out of churches – prayer meetings no longer are a part of the week because people are too busy and corporate prayer in the service just takes too much time and means we get out later – we need to stop complaining about prayer being removed from non Christ based institutions like schools and worry more about prayer being removed from church and our lives – very inspirational post

  2. Absolutely and so right. In fact, I don’t want the secular school system in charge of anything that has to do with religion. They would only mess it up. This anyway is the job for parents and the church. Good post.

  3. So true and right on target. Thanks for the great reminder. All our children are grown now but the grand-babies are arriving so another opportunity help “raise them right”.

Be blessed. God is with you mighty man of God.

  4. Great point! We as parents and grand parents are first responsible for our children. But I do remember a time when our 1st grade teacher gathered us around her and read the Christmas story from the gospel pf Luke just before the holiday. That was public school! With all the poison being forced on the kids today I do confess a longing for a return to those times. Be blessed! I love to hear more on prayer.

  5. I work in a public school in central Texas and I see prayer in the schools. There are many teachers who are praying each day. I hear students talk about God and also pray at times and not just for a test. The school I work in also allows a quiet moment in which they state that it can be used for meditation, prayer, quiet thoughts or whatever a student wants in silence. God is in the schools because praying believers are in the schools.
I also like how you stated that if you pray, it brings God into the school, regardless of what anyone else wants.
    Thanks for sharing.

  6. AMEN! That is what I say that NO ONE can take away your prayer! We can do it any where!!! God allows us to talk to Him anywhere- anytime! GOD IS GOOD LIKE THAT, TOO! Gotta share this for God’s glory and honor!!!

      1. AMEN!!!!
Makes me think of John on the island of Patmos! The Lord revealed many things to him~ what would John have done had he not of had God to talk to and get him through??

    1. P.S. I had to make a trip to our public school to explain to them why Yoga (Meditation) is dangerous and that I did not want my children participating in it. I had prayed that the Good Lord would have others to come with me to this meeting with the administration- including the superintendent. He did all right! The Holy Spirit and I! He CLEARLY gave me the Words to say!
One of the most frustrating things for me is that they did not even ask the parents permission…my frustration left when I realized that they just had no idea. They sat there staring at me first not knowing what to say but then thanked me.The glory went to God of course!!!

  7. This really hit home with me. My mother, who grew up in church and always claimed to be “saved,” used to complain incessantly about prayer being taken out of schools. Yet, we had no Bible in our home, we never once prayed, and the only things she ever said about God was that “I always believed in just letting you grow up and decide that when you are old enough to decide.” Sadly, it took me 45 years to finally surrender. As you said, prayer can be for anywhere, and I honestly think many use this as a justification for their own spiritual neglect.

@ Dave. Good point about prayer in churches. We still do have a special prayer meeting every week, early before either Sunday School or worship service; it is a true blessing.
