Too many those of us who attend church regularly criticize or judge new members who joined but drifted away.
Nothing deep here, just four things I think we should consider before we open our mouths…
1. They come to church looking for something and it doesn’t happen fast enough, so they leave.
2. They come to church looking for something and it happens quickly, then they leave.
3. We, who should be mature in the faith, run them away because we forget they are weaker, OR we aren’t nurturing enough, OR we’re too self-righteous.
4. They came seeking something other than God. This is usually the reason for 1 & 2. (That will be discussed in tomorrow’s post.)
Romans 14:1 (NKJV)
Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things.
Romans 15:1 (NKJV)
We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the week, and not to please ourselves.
BE BLESSTIFIED!
A lot of people have reasons quitting church but the truth is that when they quit, certain things in their lives begin to quit them.
Quitting church is like quitting God because there is need for fellowship. I am not saying someone should not quit a particular church if someone wants to because of personal reasons. But the person should find a church that suits him especially if the church adheres to the doctrine of Christ.
Quitting church totally is not good.
Bless you.

There’s definitely a difference in quitting a church “building with members,” and quitting the, “assembling of yourselves.” Moving causes a lot of problems in finding a new church. #3 has definitely been my issue unfortunately.
So many who have been part of the church for years are connected to each other, but only show politeness to new members, and that’s it (or are cold, aggressive in wanting numbers, attendance, etc). I use to be part of a church for decades till I moved, I get it, it’s not always easy to get out and talk to new people. I know Christ used my experiences to teach me this.
But the Bride of Christ is about community. If we can’t get involved with each other outside of the churches’ doors, that’s a problem. The beginning church did everything together, that’s what a real church is. Community, not just routine on the part of the individual. A lot of people forget that, and point fingers. I’m glad you wrote about this.
While I don’t have church home yet, I’ve certainly not “quit” church. 🙂 God has provide a “church” community of believers for me to be surrounded by, as I look. He speaks through many people and in my life, using this means while I wait to find a shepherd.

I understand. We had the same issue after we moved. It took us years to find the church family that was right for us. Be encouraged. I pray God does the same for you.
