MEEKNESS ISN’T WEAKNESS…

We love displays of strength in our society, which is most often portrayed through aggression, profanity, fighting, overpowering others and getting even.

Many of our favorite movies are of ‘heroes’ saving the day through a fight. We love to see the guy who was ‘picked on’ finally overpower the bully.

Many times people don’t feel satisfied unless they have ‘given a piece of their mind’ to someone who has crossed them or tried to take advantage of them.

Our society doesn’t feel you have won unless you have ‘kicked their a**’).

We must be careful that we aren’t crossing over into the some of the works of the flesh listed in Galatians 5 when we are defining strength, such as hatred, contentions dissensions or outbursts of wrath.

God is more impressed by inner strength. It takes more strength to RESTRAIN than to RELEASE and lash out.

Our society calls those who are walking in the Spirit and displaying the Fruit of the Spirit weak…love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are all evidence that God Spirit abides in us, BUT OUR SOCIETY CALLS THOSE BEHAVIORS WEAK.

Jesus wasn’t weak when He allowed Himself to be insulted, beaten and crucified. Jesus is more interested in our spiritual strength than our physical strength.

When Romans 15:1 says, “We who are strong ought to bear the (scruples, failings, infirmities) of the weak, and not please ourselves”, it’s speaking of inner spiritual strength.

When Romans 12:14 says, “Bless those who persecute you; bless and don’t curse”, its’ speaking of inner strength.

When James 1:19 says, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:”, it takes inner strength.

Friends I’m talking about MEEKNESS. Meekness is an attitude of humble, submissive and expectant trust in God, and a loving, patient and gentle attitude towards others.

Jesus Himself said, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” (Matthew 11:29-20). Are you stronger than Jesus?”

MEEKNESS is quiet strength.

It’s that strength that was displayed by our Savior when He was persecuted but never said a mumbling word (Isaiah 53:7).

Our society would have ‘cussed’ out the Pharisees, and religious leaders.

Our society would have come off the cross and ‘kicked everyone’s ‘a**’, in fact our society wouldn’t have gone to the cross!

MEEKNESS is what saved us, not aggression. Pray for meekness, make every effort to walk in meekness, because remember, Jesus promised THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH (Matthew 5:5)

Remember, MEEKNESS is a Fruit of the Spirit and MERCY is a fruit of MEEKNESS

BE BLESSTIFIED!
